Very informative
A professional archive for scholarship. There's some 1 star review here from somebody who doesn't know what that looks like.

They're doing normal expected practice.
I accidentally discovered this place when I went to Casa Loma. I didn't believe that millions of archives can be photogenic. I could see the walls of documents in the windows. Wow. Maybe some documents here have my name in it.
If you are a history buff or just need to find out info about a building or neighbourhood, this is the place to go. Helpful staff, lots of tools and records. And if they don't have it, the library does.
I discovered the Archives through a tour held by one of my university’s centres. I am so happy to have gotten the opportunity to visit for these reasons:

Education: there are literally “miles of files” here! There are tons of documents you can resource for free. Getting access is pretty simple as well and during my visit, people who were researching were getting their items with ease.

Staff: the two presenters for our group were incredible! Super enthusiastic and extremely helpful with all of our questions. They were the highlight of our trip.

Space: this building is clean and well-kept, making our visit pleasant.

If you’re interested in finding out more about Toronto’s history or just want to explore, I highly recommend coming here!

Located several steps north of Dupont Station, it is a lovely walk away to The City of Toronto Archives to explore the history of Toronto!

As part of the Doors Open Toronto 2022, we visited The City of Toronto Archives to learn about the building and explore the 100th anniversary of the TTC exhibit. The City of Toronto Archives moved to this location when it was merged with the Metropolitan Toronto Archives in 1998. The TTC exhibit was very well displayed with the information chronologically arranged. The Spadina Room was used for showing videos and hosting events. Also, the building has a lovely window area for the Viewing Gallery (Floor 2 has a better view, but you can see Floor 1's as well behind the elevator). It was very insightful to learn about the maintenance and preservation system within the storage facility themselves.

There are washrooms on the first and second floor as well. Staff are all extremely helpful to what you need to retrieve and research. There is guest WIFI at reception as well. We had a great time learning!

I applaud Cesar and his staff office for the great job they have been doing for my community. I just received your summer report in my mailbox and i must say, I am thrilled to read about the increase of daycare spaces - it was much needed! Your work speaks volumes of the kind of person you are. Thank you.

I have emailed Councillor Palacio on several occasions and not once did I get a response. I am terribly disappointed by an elected official who does not care to reply to his constituents. He will definitely not be getting my vote or family's vote, I have also made sure to tell my neighbours and friends who live in Ward 17 not to vote for him. When you decided to become a public servant you'd better be there for people when they have problems.

Contacted the Councillor's office to have the street swept and faded signs refreshed. The work was completed immediately. Glad to receive such strong representation.

I wanted to thank you and your great staff for assisting my parents by recommending and filing out the Toronto Renovates grant application, as this grant helped my parents retrofit the kitchen and washroom areas of the home, so that they are more easily accessible.

In addition, I wanted to extend my thanks for the FREE Annual Compost Days, as the community is really taking a more active interest in gardening as a result.

Keep up the great work and thank you for your assistance - I wish more Councillors were like you.
I've lived in this ward for seventeen years and have had reason to reach out to our Councillor about a half dozen times, via phone and email. Not once has his staff or Mr. Palacio returned our emails or calls. These were reasonable queries about traffic issues, CP rail right-of-ways, dog parks, etc. - pretty benign queries for the most part (barring the email I sent registering my discomfort with his support of some of the former mayor's, Rob Ford, proposals). I've taken to contacting our neigbouring Councillors and their offices for assistance. They and their staff (Bailao & Mihevic) are responsive and have generously provided me with answers and directions on which city departments might have the information I am looking for. So my advice if you live in Ward 17...ask the Councillors and staff in Wards 18&21 for assistance.

He has always been helpful and goes over and above, working outside of normal office hours. I am not too sure what all the grievances are about in previous comments, but my experience has been great. Thanks for all your help!!

Good luck communicating with him if you're just a regular constituent. I have received zero responses to my inquiries to him and his office. He does not make himself available and accessible to the public whatsoever - through social media, local public appearances or otherwise. I understand from several sources that he doesn't even live in the riding. Please, Anybody But Palacio in '18! He is a living breathing argument for term limits.
I needed two trips to look at a two or three photographs I know are in the archives. I came away without seeing anything but some dry city documents. I was heartily discouraged, as I know my family had donated the historic estate photos to the archives some time ago and I have one such photo with an archive footnote as proof.

I was also incensed at being treated like a grade school boy instead of an adult citizen. They were more concerned that I had signed the books correctly and where I put my coat than serve me. And the man who got my box, it was beneath him to deliver it; I had to go and get it and haul it back to my seat. When it proved useless, I had to sweat it back to a special trolley that was in another room. Do the job or don't. Don't go halfway because to serve is some form of humiliation.

There are some letters that have been assembled by one of my illustrious relatives I would very much like to read. I am going to forgo the experience because I have determined never to set foot in that ridiculous place again. Why should I want to go where you have enforced rules that tightly and inappropriately control your customers' behaviour instead of establishing rules that force employees to provide proper service? All that silly treatment and I probably wouldn't get to see them anyhow.

Good riddance.

What a fantastic place, and friendly staff. Even if you do not have a reason to go into the archives for research, their first floor exhibits provide such a wealth of information and entertainment. A fantastic place to visit and explore!
