I love this pool since it’s clean and there’s always a lane available when I come. However, operating hours are inconvenient for people who work and the communication on when it’s open during parts of the year has been lackluster. It’s unclear to me whether the pool has since reopened after it closed last summer for break. Even after calling, I received no answer.

Before the pandemic this place was open on weekends 10 am to 5 pm. Since pandemic: no weekends, only accessible weekday mornings and evenings. Three years later still no weekends.

Please bring back weekend day time availability. Why is this the only location that didn't bring it back?
Nice and warm. Most others are COLD. Not too busy with a great relatively shallow section.
Pool continues to remain closed due to some maintenance issue. With no update from DC OR.Atleast be considerate enough to update the patrons, but it's been 0 communication
My kids had the best fun on the slide then actually swimming
Took my seven month old baby to swim on a Sunday around noon, and we had a good time. Quite a few people there but did not seem super busy. Very nice, large and clean facility. I wish the pool were a bit warmer. Knocking off a star because the kiddie pool was drained and none of the staff could tell me anything about why or when it would be back in business. I heard it was renovated last year so it makes zero sense why it was not up and running.

Nice and clean pool in takoma.
Roaches and bandaids floating around (every single time I go) but the staff is nice and very reliable.
No changing table in the men's restroom. Completely unacceptable to have a multi million dollar facility and no diaper changing station. Had to change the Baba on the sink counter. Not optimal.

Otherwise, if you go for swimming is a great facility.
Staff in the front was Amazing and greeted us with a smile and kind words

The pool area However, I think her name was Erica, she was rude and you can tell she didn't want to work that day.
We were trying to swim and we must've been irritating her existence because that's how she treated us 😒😡

The staff is nice and the pool is adequate for a good workout. They keep the pool area nice and clean. My only complaint is there should be better enforcement of the dress code.

Excellent pool. Showers are great. Lockers good. Only negative note is that some adults allow children to run wild in locker room.
Lovely clean pool. Basic amenities/changing rooms but kept clean. Friendly and helpful staff
Great for outdoor training. Swimming pool is super. Nice basketball court.

It's a great pool for leisure swimming at the eastern end (rounded end). Warning, from time to time the pool closes for events, but doesn't announce it beyond a sign outside the pool doors.
Such an amazing facility!!! Swim class and instructor were great. Felt like I was preparing 4 the Olympics 🤣❤️💕😍
This place is nice with a great pool. I often wonder about the foul smell that emanates outside the male changing room. The pool is primarily used for lap swing and water training.
Exactly what you need out of a local public indoor pool. I come here regularly to swim laps, and it feels like a neighborhood. Guards are friendly, pool and hot tub are reliable, locker rooms are clean. 4 lap lanes on a regular basis, and locker rooms aren’t the biggest but sufficient. -1 star because the showers in the ladies’ room keep breaking and DPR has been slow to implement a permanent solution.
Pool is fantastic. Staff kind helpful courteous and professional. The women's locker room is small so the city needs to work harder to keep the showers working.
Oyster is fresh, grilled sea bass is good, , but the shrimp & crab Napoleon is not. The flavor is too plain, not fresh, not rich, not fruity enough. In all, it is just medium, don’t think it worthy of the price.
Iove coming here with the children. During the winter months it's still open. Ok parking. Staff super friendly. Bathroom are clean. They now have better swimming equipment such as flippers and life jackets. They do need a upgrade on children life jackets. They need to offer pole aquatic dance lessons
Love this park/ rec center. It has pools, tennis courts, basketball courts, a running track, gym, a splash pad for the kids and a huge playground! Tables for picnics, and are much more! Definitely a great spot if you have energetic kids .
Great pool lifeguards everywhere. Only thing is water VERY cold appearently their water heater is down and has been for a while. Once your in you'll definitely need to keep move and keep most of your body submerged.
This pool is HUGE! Water was pretty cold but not as cold as Rumsey…you can adjust to this lol. AND there’s a hot tub!!!!! I always appreciated a ramp entry for the little ones as well. There’s plenty of places to sit (bleachers), it’s warm inside the facility (that’s what made the water temp more bearable too) and there’s lap lanes and a diving board! Overall good. Will definitely be back!
Large pool (8x25 yards) with fairly wide lanes. Free for DC residents. Locker rooms are basic but clean enough. There are kick boards, pull buoys, and fins available to borrow. Note that sometimes the door will be locked in the mornings but if you knock loudly, someone from the front desk will come and let you in.
This place is amazing, but your experience there will likely depend if the lifeguard on duty. Online it says the slide is open from 1-4 so we came at 2 and the lifeguard on duty shut it down because they’re understaffed. The next lifeguard opened it up for a bit when we asked for it but also said they are understaffed and technically need more lifeguards on duty to have it open. The water is chilly at first but it’s warm inside so you adjust (nothing like Rumsey lol). There was an underwater spin class happening too - so cool! There’s also free life jackets, kick boards, and noodles! There’s a gradual entrance - perfect for toddlers (the splash features were off though). I love the huge windows letting the sunlight in. We will definitely be back! Would be 5 stars if they get it fully staffed so everyone can enjoy the slide!
Been a DC resident all my life. First time here and it is lovely. DC has really done a nice job renovating everything. Way back it was a no go hence why I’m here for the first time at 35 lol
We love to come here to swim in the rec and play on the playground great outdoor exercise area indoor outdoor basketball court a full gym inside!
A few years ago this was a great facility. It's fallen into disrepair lately. It's not as sparkly clean as it once was. Some of the showers don't work. The shower that does work has a loose and rusty fitting at the wall. The water pressure is low too. They no longer keep the shower soap dispensers filled with soap. The bathing suit dryer in the men's locker room is out of service. There's grime on tiles in the locker room. They don't always open on time. Still, if your just looking to get in a quick swim and your in the neighborhood it gets the job done.
Awesome staff, pool, and facilities. A bit dated but as long as I can swim from one end to the other I don’t care. Pool temperature was perfect for me but I like it on the cooler side. Locals made a visitor feel at home. Be ready to circle swim during the week. Weekends are pretty open. Will definitely come back here when I visit D.C. again.
It’s a wonderful playground it’s provides fun all year long . It’s in the same place as the community center and indoor pool in Brookland DC . Has a huge area for entertainment. Tennis court and community garden.Spray park in the summertime . I had enjoyed this place with my kids and every time we like it more. Beautiful . I wish that the vandalism would end it’s a incredible space unfortunately not everyone respect it. I have found a lot garbage and graffiti.
What an awesome recreation Center full of basketball courts, tennis courts, beautiful playground and swimming pool.,. great place to bring a family and friends !
Usually go to Ridge Road Outdoor pool but it closes on Thursday. My kids really enjoyed the indoor pool too. No sun beaming on my babies is a plus too.

The pool is clean and the staff was very friendly, but the water was to cold on both times that my 1year old grandson and myself could not stay long. I wished that the water temperature was warmer. Oh the locker rooms were also nice and clean.

If it wasn't for the water being so cold I would have rated it a 5.
Born and raised in DC, I have learned to utilize free access to health, fitness, anything FREE!!! I live in the community and go here to take laps in the pool. Its a great swin and exercise facility.
This week too much chlorine in the pool. The smell was very strong it had my eyes burning and I didn't even put my head under the water.😏
However the ladies locker room was much cleaner than my previous visit🙄🤨

These are pictures of the ladies showers, where someone has left there hair behind🤨
These other pictures are of the hot tub with this thick ring of dirt and foam, thus forcing people out of the hot tub!🤔🤔😏
My experience with the recreation center is currently limited to the pool where my son goes for swimming lessons, but it has almost completely blown away my expectations.

This center is clean and well-staffed with mostly friendly workers that almost always pleasantly greet us when we come in. The temperature inside is the opposite of whatever it is outside, meaning that it’s comfortable. The whole place reeks of chlorine, though, because of the very large indoor pool.

The pool itself is big, clean, and safe with a number of lifeguards that are watching from their perch and others in an office close by. They all have been very attentive, never straying from their mission.

There is a wonderful kiddie pool section with a spray tree so the tots can have some fun, and the entrance to this pool is a slight slope that allows kids to get in at their own pace. Within this area is the spa, which is often used and seems to be pleasant. The kiddie pool feeds into the larger pool through a narrow channel with the depth slowly increasing, giving parents and kids the option of how deep they’d like to go. There is only a couple of feet of water in the kids area, and the channel to the bigger pool area goes to 4 feet before you’re free and out in the main pool.

The lane lines are tight and properly maintained, keeping swimmers from drifting too far and hitting others or moving into shallower waters.

The pool is heavily chlorinated like all public pools, and the pool enclosure is very warm and humid. The pool is not hot, and my little son is chilly when he’s done with his lessons. You’ll sweat if you’re sitting out of the pool in anything more than a t-shirt and light pants. There is a very loud hum present, making it hard to talk to others around you.

The locker rooms are large and clean, with nice showers to help you rinse off all of the chlorine.

In addition to the swimming pool there is also a large basketball court area with clean floors, a small gym with well-kept equipment, a billiards table in the lobby, and other rooms that I have yet to explore. There’s also tennis courts outside.

This is a really nice community center that you should definitely visit if you live nearby or have thought about coming!
Was in the neighborhood and wanted to swim some laps. So I call to hear about their policies. 7 dollars for non DC residents. No cash. OK, sounds fair. I'll just bring my wallet and leave it in a locker.

Pool facilities are pretty nice. Lots of families taking advantage of the fountain and the life jackets.

I swim my laps. Probably in the pool for 45 minutes. Dry off, change, get my stuff. In less than ten minutes the fraud department of my bank had called me. Someone had carefully swiped the credit cards out of my wallet. In 45 minutes. So glad they didn't take my ID and my phone was in my car.

I suppose I should be more careful in locker rooms.
It's a pool. The temperature is always nice. They keep it clean as well without having to nuke it with chlorine. The locker rooms will give you a total throwback to high school. The opening times and hours can be a little erratic, call first.
