Staff were slow. Waited forever to even be acknowledged by staff and had to eventually go in from the patio to make an order for a table of 6. Food was sub par as well.

Absolutely loved the food here! Got the wee veggie breakfast and it was the best Scottish breakfast I had in Scotland.
The server was so very nice, I can’t remember her name I believe it was Sarah but if she reads this I want her to know that she made my day!
Staff seemed totally uninterested in their work or customers. They were all young and seemed to lack supervision. Our table was dirty with food remnants and pastry crumbs etc. Waitress sprayed everything on the table with cleaning spray and spread the mess all over the table, wiping most of it on to the floor, leaving some food remnants on the table. Gave us two menus which she put down on the table, one stuck to a lump of chocolate that was still left on the table. Not impressive. Just seemed to be going through the motions without taking any care or pride in what she was doing. Very disappointing. We only ordered two coffees but these took a while to arrive. Coffees were enjoyable but my mocha wasn't hot. Background jazz music provided a nice chilled atmosphere but we were struggling to find any positives about our visit. Wouldn't recommend and won't be back.
The place was quite small but nice nonetheless, the staff very friendly and helpful even though there was a lot going on. The food arrived quite quickly and other than the cake, nothing tasted that good. The mac n cheese was just some noodles with butter really. The sandwiches were very plain too. Bottom line: coffee and cake is great, everything else not worth it.

I would highly recommend this cute wee cafe in the centre of St. Andrews.
Every table was full ( which speaks volumes for the food and service). We went for a takeaway of soup and it was delicious.
The soup is always vegan and gluten free as stated on the menu board which was fab as we struggle to find home made vegan soup when out and about.
The service was great too!
Will definitely be back and recommend to others!
Thank you 💛😴
Cute little cafe in one of the lanes. I had the fruit scones with cream and jam! Also tried their hot chocolate! It was hearty!

My friends tried the coffee and a cake. They liked it as well.

The place is generally packed and people have their gatherings in the outdoor seating even in the middle of the week. We were lucky to get a table!
The best cafe in St Andrews in my opinion! Very busy wee place, especially on weekends, so make sure to book in advance! Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed a delicious scone with jam and cream (of the best I've had) and a lovely cup of tea. A really good selection of cakes on display and an extensive menu. My friend ordered the sausage roll and it was huge, so come with an appetite. Portion sizes are great! My go to in St Andrews now 👌🏻
This is an absolute gem of a place in St Andrews! We were given a table outside which is a lovely courtyard, and dog-friendly is a bonus! We had our two children so they both ordered macaroni cheese, and we ordered the Shrimp Po’Boy and Steak Philly sandwiches which were both amazing - the prawns were juicy and the pickled slaw was so good!! I didn’t think I’d manage to eat the side of sweet potato fries I’d ordered after seeing the size of our mains but they were so crispy and perfectly cooked, they got demolished too! The kids macaroni portion was really good and the garlic bread was homemade and lovely.
Service was top notch, very friendly welcoming team and even little touches like having plastic cups for the kids to use is really good. A really pleasant, relaxed atmosphere, could’ve easily sat there all afternoon! Can’t wait to go back again and try the other options on the menu because the choices are great, it was hard to pick just one! Thank you to The Cottage Kitchen!
