Cute little bookshop you could spend hours in. If you like older prints, mass paperback prints, and used books- this is the spot. They have newer books up at the register. Staff offered help multiple times, and were both friendly. I don’t think it would be that accessible as a wheelchair user here, as there are crates of books in hallways. But I do think they would accommodate if you had struggles. They were all so kind! I enjoyed looking around in each section here!
Delightful, eclectic book shop with vintage reads and a dazzling local author selection. Would recommend to book lovers!
Came here during my honeymoon, very impressed on the various selections one may find here. From some of the more obscure and rare to a bit of the modern. Any avid book owner is sure to love coming here. But be warned, if you're a collector like I am, you're going to want to have money to spend.

A cool little bookstore in Northeast Minneapolis. Definitely worth a visit for any bookworm or avid reader. They have some shelf space dedicated to local authors and some space dedicated to local crafts which is honestly pretty awesome. Eat My Words Bookstore also uses their space really well, the place has a very unique atmosphere that’s very cozy.

What an amazing and welcoming bookstore! It’s so nice to be greeted in a genuine fashion by someone who is interested in their customers. This is a charming little shop absolutely packed with paperbacks. It’s definitely worth a visit!
Today was my very first visit. I should have been there long time ago. I was impressed by the selection and quality of chess books. More importantly, I was impressed by the kindess and helpfulness of the bookseller. He was very polite even before opening the store! I felt like I was visiting family: very welcome. I loved the cozy atmosphere of the store. Put another way, if I could give The Book House five HUNDRED stars, it would make my grade more accurate. Thank you.
This is a fantastic book store! I was pleasantly surprised at the great selection. The prices are very fair as well.

I love funky little unique places, and the Paperback Exchange was a gem I was delighted to find. I visit my son and his family in Minneapolis about once a month and like to take long walks near the lakes while I'm there. The PE will be one of my walking destinations from now on. I am a fan of recycled books and was lucky enough to find three of the books on my 2024 book club list. Their discount pricing is a bonus. If you bring in used books to exchange, you get a larger discount on their new and used books that you purchase. The sales associate made the shopping exoeriece even more fun. NOTE: Katty corner across Penn and 50th is also a consignment clothing store. Double score!!!
Been here a couple of times. Such a cute lil place. Love going in and looking around. It feels like a maze!! Super fun and the people there are very helpful.
Absolutely love this little bookstore. They have a unique selection that caters to nearly anybody and at such good prices. Store owners are kind. I could sit in this place all day, everyday.
We love the sheer number of non fiction books and foreign language works! Classics and newer works are widely available. Lots of hard covers, even before discussing the rare books. There's a rewards program and periodic sales by genre. It's well traveled with lots of stock turnover.

I have been coming to this bookstore close to 10 years, and love it!

As you enter the store the smell of the books will hit you with a nostalgia of a bygone era. Not like the smell you will find at other shops. For me, the inventory was always spot on. If I can't find a title I just ask to be put on the list and they will give me a call once it comes in. Believe me, after a couple years waiting for a rare used copy of a book they called me! So awesome!

The buyback system is great for readers and book collectors. It doesn't offer cash, but they take the value of the book (price on the book itself) and give you that for in-store credit. Explaining this further, this means if I give them a 10 dollar book they will give me 10 dollars in credit. I can then pick a book for 10 dollars (or less) and get that at 70% off. Ending up paying 3.00 dollars for a 10 dollar book (plus tax). So, I saved 2.00 dollars versus selling my book at half price books or online and not getting that much for it. Overall, it's a better deal. They do sell books at half price (50 percent) off if you don't have "trade credit."

The store also has a basement for storage of older titles (employee accessible) and tons of other space. A title can be tucked away in a "staff pick" section or even hidden on a stack of books on the floor. This makes the exploring so much more adventurous. If you seriously cannot find a used title at this place it's probably because it's popular and flies off the shelf, or someone else loves your taste.

The staff are amazing! Very friendly and willing to help you find that special read, whether it's used in stock or if it's special order. They will find a way to bring that book into your hands.

I have visited so many bookstores around the world and I always come back to this gem of a store right in my backyard. I highly recommend this store to any serious and adventurous reader. Do not pass this place up!
This place is the best STORE. ON. THE. PLANET. That is all.
The Book House in Dinkytown is an absolute treasure trove for book enthusiasts! This vintage bookstore is a hidden gem in Minneapolis, boasting an impressive collection that includes rare first editions, signed copies, and collector's editions. The variety across genres is extensive, ensuring there's something for every literary taste.

The charm of discovering hidden literary gems adds an exciting element to the browsing experience. The staff's friendliness and helpfulness enhance the overall atmosphere, making each visit a delightful journey through literary history. If you're a book lover seeking unique finds, The Book House in Dinkytown is a must-visit destination, earning it a well-deserved five stars!

Used book stores... if you don't like getting lost in a used bookstore, you may just be a psychopath. Good selection. Friendly staff. Great neighborhood. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.

What a great used book store! I live nearby and come in anytime i have a hankering for something. Don’t let their modest retail windowfront fool you; the store stretches deep and they have a lot of stuff. And it has that fabulous iconic “old book” smell, which in today’s world, seems to be a bygone thing.
This place has a lot of cool back issues. But that is about it. So if that's your thing, this is the spot. The downsides of this place is it is tiny. There is hardly any room to walk if more than like 4 people are in there. Overall, I was pretty disappointed when I went there.
I have only ordered online. A++ store! Fast shipping. Accurate grading. Friendly & helpful staff. Recommend....
Great pricing and free shipping over $50. Every comic was better than the stated grade. I've already ordered from them again!
I loved everything about this bookstore. They have variety of different books and it’s very clean & aesthetically pleasing.

Really nice staff and a good source of recent books but they also have a lot of vintage stuff you’d never find anywhere else and prices are good too!
I picked this out of Google maps. I am a bigger fan of dark horse, especially dark Horse star wars, and found the place was mostly devoted to older stuff. from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

But I did find some dark Horse star wars. it took a long time just to get in front of the register.

nonetheless, I came out with a bounty I was proud to pay for.
A bookworm paradise!
The staff was friendly and helpful and it was the perfect place for when you are on the hunt for a new read.
The building may look small but worlds live in here! Super cute, wonderful prices, and a very kind store owner make this place welcoming and guarantees you will leave with at least 3 books. Stop by!

In case you need a sign: go get that book you've been thinking about. It helps a small business!
I've worked with Chris, the owner. He's very fair and honest. The problem is that he is such a strict grader that he ends up undervaluing comic books, especially old ones. That's great if you're buying (which I have benefitted from) but not so good if you're selling and he undervalues what your stuff is worth. Chris will give you a fair offer based on what HE thinks your stuff is worth, but you should take your stuff to at least one other dealer to see if they would value your stuff higher. But then, you should do that anyway. If you have something good, get more than one offer!
One of the best bookstores in Northeast Minneapolis with a wide variety of selections and hard to find items. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area
Qhat a cool used book store! The staff was friendly, helpful and worked hard at answering our questions. A pretty good verity and good prices. They had cool chairs to sit and read in.

If you love books, you have to check this place out! They carry all genres, all ages, new, used, vintage, rare, fiction, non-fiction and more. You can also bring your used books here for trade incentives. Very organized and easy to shop even with the massive selection. The staff is friendly and helpful; curbside pickup is available. I would visit every day if I could!
I have been going there for years. Just stopped by with my boys, 9 and 11. They were just as impressed as I always am. Nostalgia Zone is the best comic shop I have ever set foot in. Well organized, friendly, fairly priced and stocked with an overwhelming variety of comic books.
Great space with comfy chairs and a couch. My husband likes to shop at the bookstore. I like to relax. The place is clean. Quiet, no music playing right now. The front door is open. It’s a great spot to visit after having dinner in the neighborhood.
This is the kind of Comic book shop you want. Dusty shelves, piles of comics, twists and turns. Areas where that one Comic you've been looking for might just be. Selection varies, they get new product in all the time, and product goes out all the time. Such is the ways of a CBS.

I enjoy my visit, I was there for a couple hours. I think my only issue, and your's will be pricing. If you're looking for deals on some comics, you might not find it, they use various sources which arguably price up issues. I'm not talking Hulk 161 here, bit early 90's stuff that was produced in glut that prices have not gotten higher, but either are just at or well under book pricing (new). They have a free membership that saves you 10% and a reward system I'm not entirely sure about either, and deals via email on occasion, that comes with a list of what's new in store. That's a cool feature.

I don't agree with organization, some of it is alphabetical backwards, and that can play tricks on where yr looking or going. Eventually you'll find what you're looking for, if it's there.

All in all it has the hallmarks of a decent in product shop, but be wary on what you might be spending. Support the locals, keep comics alive, read, read read!
