Beautiful and luxurious stay in the center of San Miguel de Allende. Enjoyed the peaceful and Zen like environment with tasteful decorations at the hotel which was a perfect blend of nature and Mayan inspiration. Most of all Nico, Luis and Oscar made it a wonderful stay with great concierge service and were incredibly helpful in making recommendations, booking reservations and arranging for massage appointments. The rooms are wonderful and unique with all the amenities. Appreciated the friendly and warm environment provided by the team concierge who made us feel pampered and assisted us with transportation services to and from the airport and to Mexico City. We stayed for 4 nights and 5 days last weekend and cannot wait to return again to La Valise!!
Extraordinary place - a boutique hotel in the best way to think of it. Only 6 room - each one highly individual and generously spacious. Every room has some very special touch. Magical atmosphere on the courtyard with a small, beautiful pool. Rooftop with sunbeds. Super attentive, professional and knowledgeable service. Great location.

Elegant and classic hotel, a real gem in the heart of SMA. Service was the most personalized and attentive we've ever experienced. Thanks a million to our hosts Ruben and Monserrat for making our two-week stay in the town even more memorable.

This was one of the most special hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I stayed in the Ollin suite, which was beautiful, with a stunning spa-style shower and tub.
The design of the space is truly something special, but more than that, the quality of such a small and intimate atmosphere makes this place stand out. Oscar and Nicolas were kind and deeply generous with their knowledge of SMA (go to Bocaciega—their recommendation and my favourite meal of the trip).
The location is perfect—it’s very easy to walk to the main sites, but the hotel/rooms are quiet and removed. There’s a beautiful view from the roof/jacuzzi!

An artful, easeful stay is on offer here in a luminous city. The environment is quiet, lovely, inspiring. The staff have such care and pride for this home turned 6-room boutique hotel, and rightly so. I hesitate to share the secret further, but if you’ve read this far, you should book. The morning sun on the terrace, the afternoon light, the art everywhere. I cannot wait to return.
We had the most incredible stay at La Valise in SMA. The staff are exceptional to begin with, they could not have been more welcoming. We got some amazing recommendations of things to do and places to eat during our stay. They could not have been more attentive and provided a 5 star experience for sure. The property is amazing and feels like a secret courtyard in the middle of SMA. Our room (Genisus suite) was out of this world. We have stayed in some nice hotels but this room tops it. The spa bathroom is one of a kind. We loved chilling in the hotel during the day and taking a cocktail up to the rooftop jacuzzi as the sun sets. If we ever return to SMA we will for sure stay there again. Special mention of food to eat while there would be Mama Melé burritos - a casual spot but the burritos are amazing and Humberto the owner was great!
Staff really went above and beyond for us. They were amazing. Loved the little details like the welcome mezcal, and the breakfast. We would certainly stay here again.
My only small complaint would be that they said they were going to light the lanterns/candles at night which didn’t happen. Maybe next time.

Surprise and delight in every detail! The service was as thoughtful as the interiors. From the time we arrived, the hotel staff went above and beyond to welcome us. Luis, Nico, and Mauricio each added a unique element to our stay; Luis gave us the best recommendations and was so fun to talk to and practice Spanish with, Nico expertly handled the booking of our excursions, and Mauricio was so kind and generous, bringing us tea service in the evenings. Breakfast on the terrace each morning was the highlight of our stay. Excellent location, close to everything. My mom and I have a home in San Miguel and it’s La Valise. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
La Valise lived up to and exceeded our expectations. The accommodations were beautiful, serene, clean, and soul soothing. The service was top notch. Luis and the entire concierge team went out of their way to make our stay special. Every reservation made on our behalf was unique and memorable—I only hesitate to give five stars because I almost don’t want to share this special place! We will be back.
Rubén and Montse were incredible hosts, curating a luxurious and very special stay for us. They made sure everything was seamless, from airport transfers to arranging a driver for our wine tasting appointments. The hotel is beautiful and well designed, with cozy fireplaces, stunning outdoor/common spaces, and everything you need for a comfortable 5 star stay without sacrificing character. The food is also excellent, we can’t wait to come back when the new restaurant is open! When we come back to San Miguel we will definitely be staying at Hotel Amparo again.
Beautiful hotel. Only critique I have are the mattress in the rooms. They are very hard (for me and my girlfriend), but others might like it like that.

Family affair, wedding. All first class.
The best place we have ever stayed in! We started off our honeymoon here, and it was so incredible it’s hard to compare it with lodging for the rest of the trip. First - the care and thought that went into the design and aesthetics is unparalleled. But what good is beauty and design without function and experience? Everything was fantastic - from the delightful staff and general manager who were simply the best, to the delicious breakfast and desserts, and spectacular cocktails, cozy rooms… the list goes on. It’s perfect for those looking for an intimate, curated, boutique experience and we hope to visit again in the future!
Excellent creative retreat with Hibiscus linen in San Miguel. I needed a break from the busy city life and I feel re-energized! The experience is topped by an incredible staff. Eugenio the manager, extremely knowledgeable on the art of making tequila. His class gave me a total new perspective on Mexican culture. Pepe the chef who taught us delicious simple receipes to make at home! Ruben and his perfect sense of humor and let's not Maria Mrs Hibiscus Linen our hostess who is redefining the rules of boutique style hospitality on her own.

Highly recommend Hotel Amparo-- we loved our stay. The location is in the heart of San Miguel making it easy to walk everywhere. The hotel is beautiful and the center courtyard is an oasis. Our room was lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable. We ate several meals at the hotel and the food was fantastic. Eugenia and Ruben so welcoming and helpful! We will be back on our next visit to San Miguel.

We first stayed at the Sierra Nevada hotel, thinking that this would be a little bit of a downgrade afterwards, but oh boy were we wrong. Amparo blew us away! Food was amazing and the staff was so attentive to every need. Quiet, relaxing and beautifully decorated.

This is the most beautiful hotel I've ever seen -- every detail is gorgeous and intentional.
We stayed in the Amparo suite and it was even better than imagined! The room itself is huge and the bathroom includes 2 sinks along with both a shower and a bathtub. It is so large that, when we got massages arranged by the hotel, both the massage tables fit in the bathroom. All toiletries are from Le Labo. The bed was so comfortable and the area is very quiet at night.
The service was unparalleled. Ruben, specially, is a master hotelier. He runs a tight ship and is an absolute joy to talk to and get to know. He provided us with anything we needed at any time, even calling the bus company to tell them we were stuck in the traffic the day we left. He is truly a gem of a person and we miss him already! We also greatly appreciated the welcome drinks after the trip from Mexico City.
Overall, with an abundance of hotel choices in SMA, Amparo is in a class of its own. Every wonderful thing you read is true and this is the ultimate place to relax and rejuvenate.
My only very small tip for the hotel would be to have refillable pitchers of water so we can be a little more sustainable and a little less dependent on glass bottles. Otherwise, fantastic!

Had the wonderful opportunity to stay here for about 2 weeks in the summer. The experience was unreal. Was the only guest and was treated like royalty. The vibes and atmosphere is amazing. Almost like a curated museum with the amazing art and interior design has inspired me after at home. Food is amazing , area superb and staff is absolutely the best. I will be staying at Hotel Amparo many more times. Lock this hotel down for your visit it’s such an experience. I want to get drinks with the owner and discuss art.

Waiter was not friendly. Guess was over worked. No manager in sight. Place was not what i thought it was gonna be.
Super friendly and welcoming. Excellent atmosphere and menu. Caesar Salad made tableside with all fresh ingredients, including raw egg and anchovies. We come here regularly and have never been disappointed.
