The staff and service were great at this hotel but unfortunately it is outdated with very uncomfortable beds. Would not stay again because the beds are not adequate for a good night's sleep. AC worked well. Bathroom was not as clean as it should have been. Also, the price was much higher than it should have been for this level of hotel! Breakfast just marginal. No protein whatsoever. My advice to stay if you need to but otherwise look elsewhere
Rooms are nice. Staff is friendly. Air conditioners work well. However, for the price, the staff puts minimal effort into the breakfast. It’s waffles, cereal, yogurt, muffins, coffee and juice. I’ve stayed at less expensive Super 8s that had a fresh hot breakfast.
I read the reviews for this location and was on the fence. Overall I'm glad I chose to stay. No issues whatsoever. Room was clean. Parking lot which was a real concern of mine, was super well lit. Cost was a bit more than advertised. But I would recommend to stay here.
Quick and easy check in, clean room, comfy bed where me and my daughter was actually able to get a few hours of good sleep away from where we live ! Wish we could have stayed longer! Pet fee was only $20. Couldn't find her father and only ran into one thug that tried to fight my 14 year old daughter at Walmart, but other than that we enjoyed ourselves for the few hours we had!
I would really recommend avoiding this hotel and staying at one of the several others nearby. We checked in on a Friday night. Our room was FREEZING as the thermostat was set to 63. There was also a really strong smell of mold that only got worse the more we warmed the room up. The carpet was damp. There were suspicious stains on the walls, furniture and sheets. We also had to kill several spiders throughout the room.

We asked if we could be moved to a cleaner room so they moved us one door over. At first glance this room was much cleaner, so we stayed the night. Once again as we got the room heated up to a reasonable temperature the mold smell got much much worse. In the morning when we went to shower we noticed that the shower head was caked in mold and mildew. That was the final straw for us. We immediately checked out and booked a different hotel for the rest of our stay.

Management was really understanding and helpful in fixing the situation. They refunded the remainder of our stay with no trouble.
TLDR: Strong chlorine smell, room was switched, seemed clean, comfortable bed, quiet neighbors, shower doesn't hold in water, would come back but not for a long stay

Me and my significant other booked this hotel for a wedding we were attending in town. It's down kind of a weird, windy road with lots of other hotels. This Hampton Inn is tucked back a little from the road so there wasn't any street noise which was nice. However, before you walk in there are benches, and we were greeted by a dude smoking a joint HIGH AS A KITE. "Oh, boy...is this what the rest of the experience is gonna be like?".
When you first walk in to the lobby, you're met with a strong smell of chlorine, but like...dirty chlorine if that makes sense? The pool is right at the end of the lobby area so it makes sense, the strong smell, but it's not the most pleasant thing to walk into 😕🤷🏼‍♀️.
We checked in and the room I had reserved was all booked up, so they had us switch to a different room (reserved a single King and got two Queens instead). I wasn't super bothered by this but it should still be mentioned if that's something you'd be bothered by.
We got into our room and it seemed clean. I didn't encounter any hair or leftover food or stains like other reviews have mentioned, so that was a relief. The hallway and surrounding rooms were quiet, didn't have any noise complaints.
The TV and electronics were easy to figure out. The bed was pretty comfortable and like I said before, was clean.
The shower, however, I have some gripes with. You can tell that they have hard water as the shower was stained and the shower head was spraying kind of all over the place. They only have the one fabric shower curtain, which doesn't hold in water at all, which in turn made the floor full of water. So I advise if you take a shower here, PLEASE put a towel or two on the floor to catch any water and as a bath mat so you don't slip!
The rest of the space was nice enough for what it was (I paid $119/night for the reservation so I wasn't expecting a luxury hotel lol).
Overall, I would come back here again, but I wouldn't make it a prolonged stay 👍🏼

I actually liked the location. It is in an area with several hotels, but is set back and quiet with little to no traffic noice. (It looks like a normal Hampton, not the lodge photo on Google).

Upon walking in, I was greeted with a strong smell— like mold or some strong chemical (I can’t tell exactly, but the strong smell stayed in sleeping T-shirt and I could wear it the next night at a different hotel).

My room was a few doors down from the pool (I thought about taking a swim until I looked at the water). The humidity, smell from the pool added to the funk I smelled.

The bed was old/ cheap/ not comfortable. The bath towel had a small stain on it (although it looked like it had been laundered.)

Breakfast was not up to par. Waffle iron broken, and they ran out of coffee creamer, saying they would have some the next day (after my departure, LOL).

Yes, it has the vibe of long term residents. I personally wasn’t bothered by any of them.

This was a very disappointing Hampton Inn experience, and I would not recommend it.
I have never been more disturbed by a hotel. Upon checking in, there was a man sitting outside of the hotel, nodding off. He almost face planted off of the bench. There appears to be people living in the hotel as a couple was arguing to the point that I was nervous to be on the first floor. The pool is disgusting. I would not let my girls even dip a toe in. There was a layer of slime and mold in the pool. There are numerous vehicles in the parking lot that look like they haven’t moved, one of which appears to house the belongings of an individual. I did not feel safe from the moment we turned into the parking lot. The remote to the TV looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years. I am very disgusted by every aspect of this hotel.
The staff are amazing! So helpful and very kind. The room however left much to he desired. It was so humid the room was damp, my clothes were damp, and all hard surfaces were sticky. Given the price point (very affordable) I wasn't expecting much, but a stained comforter was concerning. The bathroom ceiling has what I'm assuming was mold, and the door didn't close all the way. I felt safe during my stay, but it was a little worrying.

Was it my favorite Super 8? No.
Would I go back? Yes.

This hotel is in bad need of a deep clean. The vanity in our room was full of someone's hair, the pool and deck were downright gross (filmy water, hair all over the deck and in the water, scum on the pool floor, bugs floating in the water, damp/used towels all around, no new towels), hallway carpets hadn't been vacuumed in a while, and, as others have mentioned, there were occasional smells of weed. There was noise all night and morning of people banging on doors, running through the hallways, and shouting. In the breakfast area, some of the other guests were barefoot and some of the men were shirtless. It seemed like perhaps some people were living in the hotel permanently. Upon check-in, our IDs and credit cards were not checked. When we went to the desk for an extra towel, we were given a bath mat because no clean towels were available at 9 am. When we got home, we immediately put all of our clothes in the wash (even things we didn't wear) and we took showers because we felt so gross from being there for a night.

The only positives were: The woman working in the breakfast area was very kind and outgoing and there was no evidence of bed bugs from what I could tell.
Update: While the hotel replied to this review I have never heard from them. I have provided a very thorough explanation in this review and do not feel like it is my job to reach out to them to explain anything further. If they are truly interested in making this right, they have my contact information.

Original: I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. First it is located behind what looks like an abandoned restaurant that is overgrown and falling apart. When we checked in we found that the desk clerk had checked in our reservation with another member of our party. He was not dressed professionally and never checked their ID or credit card then tried to blame the mix up on the others in our party. Then he set us up with a room and we go to the room to find no sheets on the bed and that the room had not been cleaned. We went back to the desk again and were given another room. The elevator was filthy, the hallway carpets stained and dirty in every corner that would take extra effort to clean. The room had a fresh paint smell. The bed was a horrible worn out old mattress and the bed wasn’t even made correctly, I had to remake the bed. This morning when I showered I found two out of 4 towels in the room to have visible stains on them. The shelf the towels were on were dusty the tub not very clean and clogged so it drained slowly. The edges of the carpet were covered in dust and there was an ancient TV from 2011.

I saw another review that it felt like people lived there and I got that vibe too. There was police activity in the hallway this morning and the place had an off vibe with a high number of men without partners or kids in the hallway. The pool area was not clean and the pool itself looked quite dirty on the bottom.

The only redeeming thing about this dump of a hotel was the lady who handled breakfast. She worked hard keeping food stocked and the entire area was very clean. She was talking to everyone and even interacted with guests who were checking out nearby.

This place seems due for new management and a major deep clean and overhaul. If you need to stay in the area, stay in the TRU hotel a few doors down.
Very nice rooms, very nice front desk lady, and good location. Not cheap but reasonable price for downtown Jackson. Would stay again.
The hotel was conveniently located to the area of town that I need to be at.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean enough that I felt like I got what I paid for. The breakfast was awesome and a huge plus to my stay here. The attendant was helpful and kept everything stocked. The price for a two-day stay was fair, and a 2 day stay I was happy.
The pool is a little chilly, but my daughter enjoyed it. The rooms were like the photos online.
Shower was hot and the soap provided was nice. I brought my own soap just because it was my preference.
We only stayed here one night for a sports tournament, and it was easy to find and close enough to everything we needed to get to. The room was dusty, there were old french fries and bacon on the floor between the beds and the nightstand, and one of the dresser drawers would randomly open on its own. There wasn’t someone consistently at the front desk and we had to ring the bell each time we needed service. We were told after check in that the elevator was broken and that we would have to take the stairs.

++my biggest concern when staying at hotels is bedbugs and I can say I thoroughly checked and did not find any, so that’s a plus.
My wife and I went to the restaurant for our anniversary. This was our fourth anniversary dinner there. We keep coming back because it is always a fantastic experience!

The food is always incredible. This time we ordered the wagyu tri-tip which was cook to absolute perfection, the lobster Mac and cheese and it was the best I've ever had, truffle fries and roasted asparagus. Everything was incredible. The white buffalo never misses. It's a fantastic experience every time and
A surprise birthday trip for the wife. Great choice all around. The staff was very helpful with reservations and suggestions. Our room was great, a little noisy in the early morning due to construction in the alley beside us.
A must do is dining on site. Angel was our waiter, he took excellent care and made sure everything was perfect. My steak was delivered on a salt block, highly recommend it. By the way the sides are shareable.
Julia was our waitress tonight at the white buffalo club and she was amazing for our party of 10. Couldn’t have ask for a better experience. She went out of her way to make sure our entire table was happy. It was my birthday and she was so kind and made it the best!
The staff here was so nice! They were always greeting me and just so pleasant. That was what stood out the most here. The room was mostly pretty clean. The woman at the from desk (I think her name was tie) and the other woman with the short blond cut were really helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Among the hundreds of hotels I’ve stayed at, the Old Capitol Inn is in the top echelon. The rooms are so comfortable and nicely designed. From the moment I walked into my space, I wished my actual home was as inviting as the hotel room. Breakfast is great. The hotel is a very easy walk to the state government offices, with parking in a gated lot. But the true star of the show here is the staff, who are wonderful, kind, engaging, thoughtful people. There’s a natural warmth that rarely exists in the transactional world of hotel stays. I was made to feel welcomed and that’s such a unique feeling when traveling. I loved my stay here and I hope I have the chance to stay again some day.
An extremely comfortable place to stay in Jackson. Comfortable beds with nice, clean rooms. Walking distance to good local coffee, food, and shops. Great management and customer service; the staff treated us very well and took care of our needs. Will book here again! Thanks!
PLEASE READ! This place was amazing! My son graduated from Fort Sill Ok and we stopped at the Old Capital Inn on our way back home to Hilton Head SC and we could have not made a better choice! Great rooms. Great parking. Great hot breakfast. Great service. You will not find a better stay no matter the price than the Old Capital Inn while in Jackson MS. And a special shout out to Princeton who was working the front desk in the lobby who could not have been more professional and courteous at our check in. And I would know good PR from bad PR because I use to travel as a motivational speaker full time. Great representation young brother! Once again highly highly recommend. PS Did I mention the Black Panther Chad Bostwick stayed there as well!

I just recently booked a room at this hotel for a regional meeting. Looking at the outside, you would expect the surprise you receive once you walk in! You really get more than a surprise! This hotel is simply wonderful! The decor is beautiful and the design is perfect. The hotel has an indoor pool. The rooms are perfectly designed like apartment homes. You have all you need in one setup. The beds are comfortable. The water pressure is great and the water gets very hot! LOL The breakfast that they serve is above Par. It IS NOT your average cereal and milk bar. LASTLY, the staff is wonderful and the location is perfect! YOU definitely will not want to leave once you check in. I will definitely recommend this hotel and will be staying here again! 👍 Please do check out the photos!📸
We used this as our host hotel for our daughters wedding. It was extremely convenient to the venue and offered lots of great amenities for our families and guest. Breakfast was ok at best. Rooms were spacious and clean. Staff was great!

My husband and I recently stayed here for a brief 4 day getaway. We had a wonderful experience. The Aman staff is lovely, the rooms are great and the views are amazing! The food at their in-house restaurant was also superb. We travel often and have stayed at numerous luxury hotels -- Amangani is now in our top 3. We can't wait to return!
Outstanding service! Room was spotless. Checking in was a breeze with Nickie and another very sweet lady. Nickie recommended a wonderful place to eat(Saltines), which was absolutely fabulous. Large room with a full refrigerator and small stove top and a ceiling fan. Breakfast was very good! Every individual smiled and seemed to love their job! How refreshing was that!! Just cannot say enough about how much we loved this place!

I was driving thru town with my family and stopped here for the night. We got two suites right next to each other and they were perfect. The price was such a great deal and we loved the hotel. Everything was very nice and we felt so comfortable there. The hotel was very quiet, the staff was very helpful, and we loved our rooms. Will definitely be coming back for future stops in Jackson.
We enjoyed our stay here. It was very nice, well kept, clean, and updated throughout the hotel. The only thing I could complain about is the breakfast as it was not good and we had some hair all over our shower, toilet, and floors and our table had some hidden crumbs but other than that, we had no issues. Everyone that works here is so sweet, happy, and friendly. Just for this we will definitely be back.
Rooms were nice. Kudos to the designer of the rooms and the decor. Seems well fitting for an upscale hotel. Loved the space and all that was included inside the room. However, the tables, chairs, door handles, couch, chair, lamps, lamp shades, pillows on couch and carpet were very dirty. Since COVID I have been bringing my Lysol wipes and Lysol sprays to help clean and sanitize the room before I even unpack. Once I began to wipe the door handles, knobs and tables, the cloth became very dirty. The color turned from white to black. The carpet.... My granddaughter put on a brand new pair of bedroom slippers and by the time, right before bed when she took them off, the bottom was black. Once you walk into the room, the look of it all makes you go, WOW Very nice. But the when you clean, it's another story.
Now, here's a problem that my family had to deal with upon arrival. We walked into the hotel and went up to the desk to check in, the young lady says hold on one minute and let me get the manager. We could see the manager way across the room talking with someone else. He looked over to see us and continued talking as if we were not there. Then the young lady called his name "Brian." He looked over her way and continued talking again. Then the young lady went to a room behind her and said , I'm calling Brian but he won't answer. He still sat over and talked with the guy for a few more minutes and then got up, be and the guy and began to walk down the hallway as if he didn't see it hear anything or know that he was not needed to check us in. Then the young lady came from behind the counter and said to us, " I'll be right back". She then began to run down the hallway and get him. After that he, "Brian" came up and checked us in as if nothing was wrong. Nice guy, but the service that day was horrible.😏

Ate dinner there. It was one of the best meals I have ever had, but $82 for an entree is just too much. I’d happily pay for the meal I had on the regular if it was $50

Denied drinks as not staying at the property even though it was an empty bar. Having been here previously on a couple of occasions over the years, someone was clearly on a power trip.

This was such a neat place! Cozy, unique boutique hotel with an incredibly helpful and friendly staff. I interacted with 3 people behind the front desk (between calling to make the reservation, check in, and check out) and every single person was so kind and an absolute delight to speak with. Asia was so fun and sweet! And you cannot beat the price. Support local and book yourself a room!

My Room number:24

Hotel Staff: Very friendly and knowledgeable about the area

Cleanliness: Amazing, I even use a uv ray light to be sure they cleaned my bed sheets.

The Old Capitol Inn is a locally owned hotel in the heart of downtown Jackson MS. Parking at the hotel were limited to only guests and our cars were protected by a gate that required a code to enter.

Although this is a old hotel, I feel like they did their best to accommodate people with various disabilities by providing ramps, elevator access and free standing shower.

My room was small but it worked great for me. We had a balcony with a beautiful view of the flower garden. They offered a towel warmer, and I really enjoy that during my stay. The complementary breakfast taste amazing.

Hope this review provides you with enough information for you to consider staying at this hotel.

We spent some days at the hotel and they were restorative and full of thoughtful details. Incredible view of the mountains plus the best massage I’ve ever gotten! 💆🏻‍♀️ The Yellowstone tour that the hotel organized was also beautiful 🦬

Comfortable stylish accomodations. Surprisingly quiet for the city. Lovely garden with Koi pond, fountains. Beautifully furnished suite for what you might pay for a room elsewhere. FULL buffet breakfast. No tub in our room but others have jacuzzi. My wife said"I feel pampered"

We happened across this spot while road tripping. We needed a last minute place to stay and they happened to have an availability. Steven so graciously greeted us when we finally arrived at midnight. The building is full of character and the people are warm and inviting! I felt very comfortable while staying here: almost like staying at a glamorous friend's home My only critique is I would prefer the bedding to be a bit more soft/plush. But overall my husband and I love this place and we absolutely will be staying here again next time we are in town!!

This is an interesting little gem! The bed was comfortable, and the area was quiet. There are many historical areas around, and great food places just a couple of blocks away, all within walking distance. Some portions of the hotel have been upgraded, but there's still an old charm to it.

I especially love the gated parking lot and didn't feel nervous about my car at all.

I had to come back and make an edit: the breakfast was absolutely wonderful! We've travelled a lot, and we eat a lot of "hotel scrambled eggs" which are bland, pale, and just.... blah. If you're staying the night here, you'd better not pass up the opportunity for the breakfast here! The eggs are especially delicious! THEN you go outside to the beautiful courtyard! I can't believe how lovely it is here!

The food and service are even better that the views. Which are $1M views. Lavender olive oil cake! A must try.
Stayed here for about three weeks, and it was perfect. The home was clean and cozy. The host had everything we could possibly need. They went above and beyond from the welcome sign specifically for us, to the extra birthday candles they had in the kitchen, to the nice and soft throw blankets. We were thrilled that the kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, spatulas, etc. The TVs had Netflix already logged on with a guest account and it made it easy to just relax. The lake was beautiful and easy to get to. A little plus was being able to make our coffee in the morning and look out the window and see the lake and the cows. If we ever need a place in the future, they will be our first choice.

If I could live here I would. What an AMAZING experience. The staff go above and beyond, Jake & Tommy were our favorite drivers who became friends to us. Our first time in Jackson Hole and Amangani made us feel so welcomed and at home. Will be staying again and have been raving to all of our friends. 11/10

Not professional at all. Tried booking a week in advance for a spa day, told it was a policy to book one day beforehand. Comes to the day before and I am told that it is fully booked at 10am. You would think that they’d have a few spots with their policy. And to come find out with other reviews this is typical of the establishment.
Great for a family getaway. Full use of the grounds and lake on the property.
Real working farm loved waking up to seeing cows The lake was nice really enjoyed our time here.
Beautiful place. Peaceful quiet. Nicest host you will ever meet.
Spent time with my family here the last two years during the summer. Wonderful accommodation and scenery. Truly relaxing
