This hotel was great. The place is old but charming and clean. Comfortable bed. Super nice staff. The location is perfect walking distance to great restaurants, the pier and the Dali museum. The breakfast was so much better than a continental breakfast. And happy hour was a nice plus.

This hotel room monthly rental is awesome! & Finding an affordable descent small hotel room rental by the month can be a nightmare in any city. I pretty much lost everything since hurricane EIN, it's just been down hill from there finally, So I relocated to Saint Petersburg FL 6 months ago & this is the 4th place I've moved to in that 6 months timelines & I am so happy here at The Bay Plaza Hotel. It's under new management since I moved in a month ago & The New Manager Janet is a go-getter/get it done kinda gal who doesn't mind getting her hands dirty! & it's only going to get better from here. This hotel & atmosphere is really great & everyone is friendly & the maintenance guys Tom & Jason work hard getting these upgrades & general maintenance chores done, Bing Bang Boom Get Em Fellas! This place was great the first 2 weeks I was here, & now after a month I believe I've finally found a great place to live, go work come home & relax & work, any kind of work is so close cause its downtown close to the Marina , restaurants, events & in the heart of all the downtown fun in the sun. So if your looking for your own little affordable slice of heaven in downtown Saint Petersburg right next to Mirror lake Library come check Bay Plaza Hotel where you won't want to leave. Thanks North Sunrise properties & staff for all you do.

This Inn is like going back in time. It had a beautifully decorated entry with a very accommodating front desk. The owners are very sweet and friendly and full of local knowledge. Our room was quaint and warm (it was cool outside) with antique furniture, warm CLEAN bedding and bath and had all that we needed, including a closet with hangers (unlike the European hotels that have a metal stand for a closet.)
They offer a continental breakfast and a happy hour (5-7 pm) and there is onsite parking and it is quite close to all you might need as far as restaurants and cultural spots to visit. Would definitely go here again and recommend it to anyone who likes the personal touch.

Can’t believe how hard it is to get in touch with property management. You can’t call them, and when I visit you can’t get no one at the front desk.

We have stayed here 2X now. Once last year and again the past few days. Michael at the front desk has been excellent both times. VERY helpful and accommodating. Not sure why lobby bar is so quiet but it's really nice, dog friendly, good food. Fee for valet parking sucks but it's in the heart of downtown. To be expected with limited parking.

This is a great place to stay! It is clean, quiet, well-kept and offers delicious continental breakfast! My husband and I loved that it is close to the beach and town. We were also given an extremely warm welcome by the receptionist - a lovely Latina/Hispanic woman whose name we unfortunately never caught, and who gave us all the information about the facilities and the area. We highly recommend this hotel looking to stay in yhe area and will be returning ourselves.

My partner and I stayed here for our small vacation in St. Pete. The front desk service was great. Gave good suggestions on restaurants in the area. Room was clean and spacious. Will stay here again if we return to the area.

Super nice people, cool historic hotel. Call direct to the front desk and skip online! I had a special situation and there was no help online. The lady at the desk was able to accommodate my needs and my stay was awesome as a result. I’ll definitely send friends and my customers for day trips in St.Pete!
I can’t say enough nice things about this hotel. From check-in to breakfast to our room. It was perfection. We were very happy with everything. The room is charming and tastefully, decorated and simple. No flash, no glitter. Just what we were looking for. it reminded us of a time long ago and yet it had all the modern amenities of now. We will definitely be looking to stay here again anytime we are in town. The information provided on the email before we arrived gave us everything we needed for a check in so that we could go right to our room. An awesome idea! Thank you so much!

The building is painted in very reflective colors, creating light pollution and potentially causing excessive UV exposure to neighbors via the light pollution it is giving off. Our A/C cannot keep up with the heat due to the reflection given off from the building when the sun it out (almost all day every day).

We hope that the owner will consider repainting the building to a non-aggressive color that does not intrude or impede on the health and well-being of its neighbors.

We are looking into whether or not this is a code violation with the city or if it is a matter of the owner simply being a good neighbor and samaritan, but we really hope it will just be the latter. Please consider!

I have been trying to find this location since I’ve first stayed in it back in 2017. It was a hidden gem through a third party site which my now husband found. I’ll just say the stay was absolutely the best even though it was short lived, we used it as a one night stay after our late flight into Tampa. The room was nice and cool and roomy. The breakfast was absolutely the best. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. If the opportunity comes again to stay in St Petersburg we will most likely stay there again.
The Bier House restaurant at this quaint hotel is really cool. Dog friendly and outdoor seating.

Opened over a century ago as a winter home playground for the filthy rich, this place is simply charming. Many celebrities stayed here, including Babe Ruth and Marilyn Monroe. The staff is unbelievably kind and welcoming. The rooms are quite clean and quiet, and in the mornings the smell of maple bacon wafts through the corridors. They have a lovely butterfly garden, and a spacious veranda that gives a nice view. To stay at this place is a real treat, and I plan on staying there again down the road! My highest recommendation!

My daughter and I stayed here in late June. We both loved it. Our room did have a slope to the floor but it is over 100 years old and on the 3rd floor. It took some getting used to. The location is great, so close to treasure island and not far from downtown. Breakfast was fresh and excellent. Coffee served near the lobby is delicious. Staff was so friendly, the woman at the front desk was beyond helpful. We loved our stay and will be back again.

I have had a signed contract for a reserved wedding block with The Exchange since August 24, 2022 for a weekend in August 2023. We have had the hotel on our wedding website for over 6 months. I reached out to each of the hotel blocks we reserved today, a bit less than 2 months out from the reserved weekend. Thankfully no one from our group reserved a room at the Exchange, choosing other nearby hotels instead, because they didn't even bother letting us know they'll be closed from today until the end of September until we reached out. An astounding lack of professionalism. Thank goodness I reached out today - who knows how long it would've taken for me to find out they're temporarily closed?

The location of the Exchange Hotel is by all means ideal, especially if you are looking for a hotel around Jannus Live. The staff are extremely courteous and kind, overall very pleasant. At first glance, the hotel is very charming- old, with a lot of quirks, but charming. However, the charm ended there during my visit. We had checked in early, and had an event to get to so we had little time to do a thorough check of the room. When we had returned from the event, and turned the bed, we found BUGS crawling on the sheets. previously, i had noticed wing like remnant laying around, but had chalked it up to us bringing in lint/dirt from our day clothes. Upon further inspection, there were bugs in the curtains, shower, and various other locations. we called and asked to be moved, and the staff quickly moved us to another move. Again, we appreciated the hast, and the diligence of the staff. HOWEVER, when we entered the second room, we found MORE bugs in the shower and the curtains. On top of the bug issue, the bathroom was small, and the shower only had a curtain that did not reach the floor, causing water to run out of the shower. the wood on the sink was rotting/molding due to the shower run off. Looking back, i realize the ‘old smell’ of the hotel room could have very well been mold. It was nearing 1 AM at this point, and we were all exhausted/needed to leave St. Pete early the next morning, so we just went to bed and prayed that the bugs would stay put. Checkout was seamless, and the staff was accommodating. I will not be returning to the Exchange Hotel on this account, but I hope this will serve as a warning to double check your hotel room for a possible infestation.

I tried out The Exchange Hotel as it was affordable and also was within walking distance of the Sunshine City Scare Convention. The hotel was cozy, and it was easy to get around to nearby restaurants and sights such as the Dali Museum. The staff here were also super nice. The only issue I could note was that the elevator was out, but that did not hamper my experience. I will be coming back for future visits to St Pete.
Saint Pete has a great selection of late night entertainment with a hotel like the exchange conveniently placed walking distance apart. It’s just far enough to have peace and quiet but walking distance away. Management and staff were very welcoming. As we came back we were greeted with great hospitality by the management. Great place, definitely recommend.

My family and I just stayed here and we’re all blown away by everything here. It was so cool seeing each individual room different, you don’t really see that anymore but it was truly amazing. Each room was well equipped with a fridge and microwave, rooms were also very clean upon arriving. The staff was so sweet and tried to help at any giving point! But don’t even get me started on the breakfast. They had so much variety! The food was so good as well. The whole hotel gave off just such a comfy cozy vibe and we will definitely be back. Not to mention the super cool history! We were lucky enough to stay in the Marilynn Monroe which was awesome. As a history buff I loved learning about all the history that went on there. If you’re going to St. Pete, go here! It truly is a great experience.

I Absolutely loved my Time in St.Pete and this place largely contributed to the stress free getaway I so desperately needed. Its conveniently located within walking distance of so many wonderful places. And when driving was necessary the valet was quick and friendly. The staff is kind and attentive. Michael at front desk greeted me with a welcoming smile and even nickname every time we arrived back. I looked forward to hearing “Hey R.J.” In the lobby every night. The beds are soft. The showers are hot. There’s a bar upfront. My room was a tad outdated but it didn’t affect the quality of my stay. All in all I give it 4.7⭐️ I’ll definitely go back.

Recently stayed here at this hotel for my trip to Florida. Let me just say the valet was good, the front desk was great especially Michael. He made us feel very welcome and always greeted my boyfriend RJ especially when we returned. I don’t know if it was the room we had being that it was a handicap room because that was all they had at the time but I hated the bathroom in this room it was old and ugly looking and the shower head looked gross. We asked for a room clean and we never got it but Michael did make sure we got clean sheets and towels the second time we asked. Besides those things it was a decent hotel for the price. It does get loud because the walls were thin and it would be drunk people outside that you could hear very well but that’s not really the hotel’s fault. It’s in a good spot to get to restaurants and the pier. Stay was decent.

Cute old hotel. They have done a nice job updating it over the years.
Great location for walking to the bay/waterfront, restaurants, Tropicana Field, museums. Area is very walkable. I ran every morning with no issues.
Staff is very friendly & helpful. Housekeeping is every 3rd day or so & since we were there for a weekend didn't have it. But anything we needed (coffee pods, soap, etc) the front desk had handy to give us.
Be aware there is only Valet parking, so you'll need to add that in on top of the room rate if you have a car.
Bathroom is very small. They did a nice job retrofitting it but it is tiny compared to what we are used to now days. I would suggest to management adding another towel bar or hooks - there is space on the walls for a couple more hooks & that would help with maximizing the space.
Dresser is in the closet (we were in room 317). Made hanging dresses difficult. Not sure why the dresser wasn't in the corner of the room by the window where there was space?

Overall, when we get back to St. Petersburg we will absolutely stay here again.

Honestly for the price you can’t find better. Great night
Had a lovely weekend stay with friends. Nice rooms. Cute balcony. Attached restaurant and bar had great service, drinks, and food. Area is quiet, across from the park. Close to downtown.

This place is amazing. Great location, can walk to all the stuff downtown. The staff is all friendly and attentive. Sheila the manager is amazing and runs a tight ship. Found this place by complete mistake and couldn’t be happier. Oh yeah and the bar downstairs has some of the best food I’ve ever had anywhere. Rotating beer and cider list too. Book this. You won’t regret it
I’m doing a Roadtrip from MA down to S FL and after an 8 hour drive from ATL, I decided to take a test for the night in St Pete’s. Got to the hotel at 5:30 on Sunday and Larissa was on her way out for the night. Without blinking an eye, she welcomed me in, logged back in and took care of getting me a great room for the night. If her service was this good when she was leaving for the night, just imagine what it’s like during business hours. On top of some fabulous service, she recommended a great local restaurant for me. 5 star service!!!!
If you're looking for something fun and a little different. A boutique hotel kind of experience... you have come to the wrong place. The building is quite old and I'm hoping my experience was as unbearable as it was because maybe not all the renovation work had been completed. Two big issues. Item one the five story tall hotel has maybe a dozen parking spaces. So you have to street park in the residential neighborhood behind the hotel. I think if any of us lived in that neighborhood we'd find that situation very inconvenient indeed. Item 2 and this is the big one THE HEAT!! my goodness was it hot in that building. Every room has a window ac unit that is small and cheap. The heat coming into the room from the un air Conditioned hallway is just brutal. Even in the large lobby and bar area there is one window ac unit and to class the place up a big orange shop fan on the floor. My wife and I tried to tough it out but we were so uncomfortable that around 1:30am we gave up drove two hours home so we could actually get some sleep.

Uptown hotel was a phenomenal experience. Rented a room from them for 3 weeks, and can't say enough about the kind, professional and thorough approach of Sheila who I believe was the manager. The hotel is well located to central ave (and my favorite restaurant PIZZA BOX), to Downtown St. Petersburg and the PIER, and also located in a very charming neighborhood that has a historic feel. The park across the street has a charming lake and beautiful trees, and there are coffee shops and restaurants also within walking distance. The housekeeping staff here was also excellent, working quickly upon request and leaving no corner unturned. Great value, would be back!
Nice boutique hotel close to downtown. Rooms are clean and modern; beds are comfortable. Has a bit of a slow paced, mom and pop atmosphere (attached restaurant was closed on Sunday, office is only staffed until around 9 p.m.), but really great value and walkable to many downtown sites.

Our original room we booked wasn't cleaned at all when we arrived. Sheila came to to rescue and saved the day, she immediately upgraded our room and checked on us throughout our stay. Such a nice lady. Thanks again Sheila!

Current resident, poor service and things constantly stolen out of my room (Phone, Wallet, and Keys) on 3 separate occasions and the local PD just "files reports" and does nothing else. There's no dead bolt and they will scam you

I just wanted to add my own review to go along with the gentleman that reviewed it earlier. He stated that they refused to rent to him because he has a child. I was told that maybe they refused to rent to him because he had a small child. This is not the case.

Unless they are 18 years old, they will not rent to you. I can understand if it is a small child because usually smaller children are loud and want to run all over the place and make a lot of noise but a 15 year old? Give me a break! He is a few years away from being 18!

Just wanted to write this review so other people don't think that he's just some disgruntled guy with a Vengeance. It's true. They really need to put this on their website if they won't rent to people with kids. Save all of us a lot of time and money even trying to drive to talk to them.

Smoking out front when you are trying to walk down the sidewalk and they just throw it in the grass, street or sidewalk. OWNERS get a small pot or planter with some play sand in it, all of 10$. Have some class and ask you tenants to have some class. OR OWNERS charge them to have to sweep it up. I was trying to get in my car after church and there were so many butts in the grass you couldn't see grass. FYI they don't biodegrade, they go down the drain with a good rain.
