A wonderful gallery, building and gardens located in Bradford. Well worth the visit to see their art collection and enjoy a bit of thought-provoking culture. They had a good balance between old and contemporary art with lots of changing over time.

Hidden Gem on the outskirts of Bradford. We visited on a Sunday and part of the museum was closed as it's getting ready for a revamp for Bradford 2025. But still lots to see. Stunning building, love it's history and the exhibitions were great. Got a cute shop and and very very nice cafe in the basement. Staff were so nice and friendly. Never been to Lister Park before but it's brilliant, great for families and there were lots of people using the facilities. You can imagine how popular it was years and years ago in it's hey day. It's won awards! Recommend a visit..when it's reopen. It's a great low cost family day out!

Cartwright Hall is a splendid art gallery and museum set within the beautiful Lister Park in Bradford. The Victorian building itself is a work of art, with its stunning architecture and charming surroundings. Inside, you'll find a diverse collection of artworks, including fine art, textiles, and decorative pieces that tell the story of the region’s cultural heritage. The exhibits are well-curated and often change, providing something new to discover with each visit. The surrounding park is perfect for a leisurely stroll, and there are plenty of spots for picnics or simply enjoying the greenery.

Free and plentiful parking on street around the park; free entry to museum. The David Hockney exhibition has his artwork and some personal photos in it. Outside the exhibition it was an unexpected surprise to find Warhole prints and a Lowery too. Visited on a Sunday afternoon, it was fairly quiet.

The Flowers in the Quran exhibition was beautiful. A few pieces of interest including a photography collection on Gypsy Traveller families and their lives..was good to see. Lots of steps, beautiful gardens outside. Great toilets too!

Wonderfully accessible gallery situated in the fabulous Lister Park. Free parking, free entry and so worth visiting. The David Hockney room is an absolute "must" for anyone who enjoys the work of the "son of Bradford" It's full of his wonderful paintings, prints, photos and telld the story of his development as an artist. If you want to make the day a complete " Hockney Experience" you can then drive the 15 minutes to Salts Mill and enjoy more Hockney in the gallery there along with the chance to buy prints of his work and eat in Salt's Diner

Firstly, I'll premise this by saying that Art is subjective. When I visited, I didn't take too much to the current show, but their general collection was nice and provided a nice cultural day out. The grounds were lovely and spacious and picturesque.

Great gallery in a lovely building. Stone permanent spaces with other temporary exhibits. Nice focus on the local community. Highly recommended
Very interesting and educational place to visit. Cafe has a good variety of things to eat and drink.
Well worth a visit.
Just be aware of the vehicular access for disabled parking as its not very clearly signposted.

Sculptures and paintings are a delight to see scattered around this magnificent Hall. The various exhibitions that were on at my time of visit was fantastic. The David Hockney Gallery was a highlight, as was the coffee and cake in the cafe. This beautiful looking Hall is worth a visit.

Unfortunately, my visit coincided with a damp and dull day in Bradford.
However, once inside, the weather didn't matter one bit. Other than a group of students, there were few other visitors, so I had ample time to view all the exhibits. The Hockney Gallery was obviously memorable, but I also enjoyed the photographs of individuals and families taken from the seventies onwards. A truly enjoyable visit.
