A wonderful museum showcasing the life and work of iconic illustrator Norman Rockwell. There are two parallel exhibitions of contemporaneous artists, one of whom is Leo Leoni. There is multimedia, including a short documentary about Rockwell. On grounds are picnic tables overlooking the Berkshires and well-maintained walking trails.
Loved visiting this museum, seeing the works of such a great artist in such a historic time. Grounds are beautiful as well. Start with the video, it highlights so much about his life.
Not cheap ($22 adults) but an incredible museum for lovers of art, realism, Rockwell and US history! Start downstairs with a 12 minute video on his life. Take a moment to look at the hundreds of magazine covers, then move upstairs to view his paintings. The most interesting paintings include the sketches or model pictures to see his process.
This was a great experience! I loved how close the paintings were. This made it easier to see. I also liked the tour. I would suggest taking this tour because it can help you understand Norman more and why he painted certain images the way he did. Also, the gift shop has great items that I enjoyed and still like today.
Great local museum! The woman working in the gift shop was insanely kind and gave me a free bookmark because I mentioned I was buying items to decorate my dorm room with. Would definitely visit again!!
We purchased two tickets for the museum and only after trying to enter were told that all the actual exhibits were closed off to the public for an event and that the artist studio was closed as well. So we paid $20 each to see a basement of recreated artwork while the originals were above us. We were told we could enjoy the rest of the open museum by taking the elevator from the basement to the 1st floor. It took us to the gift shop.... We felt the basement exhibits were nice but that it was not right to charge us for full admission without advising us that multiple areas were closed to the public, yet had other people going in and looking around.
When I drove in, the welcome area was greeting two tour buses - super smooth Saturday entry.

A joyful experience. On display are a host of Rockwell paintings and Saturday Evening Post covers. Each piece has an informative plaque with insights into the origin and use of the piece. I enjoyed seeing the process by which he created his paintings and sketches.
Also on the grounds is his studio which was relocated from the nearby site of his Stockbridge home. You can almost feel the creative process come alive.
