Nice small museum in the very city center downtown Belgrade.

Overall, it's an interesting museum. The entrance fee is 300 dinars. There's plenty to see and read. You can watch a television recording from 1989 about the same museum on a tablet fixed to the wall. It seems not much has changed in the museum since then. Generally, it's better to take a guided tour for a more engaging experience. By the way, tours are only available on Sundays and require advance booking.
From all the big museums in Belgrade, this one is the least interesting - maybe because it is a bit neglected. The whole floor of the museum has been closed for a very long time. The permanent collection is just ok, but some temporary exhibitions can be very nice. Hopefully one day this museum will get back its full shine. Free on the last Saturday of the month.

I had long been intrigued by the distinctive roof structure of this museum, visible during my strolls around the neighborhood. Finally, I had the opportunity to visit.
While the exterior architecture is undoubtedly eye-catching, the museum's interior design falls short of expectations. The walls are adorned with a greenish hue that evokes a sense of bygone decades, and the overall design fails to convey the essence of African architecture.
Contrary to my initial expectations, the museum's collection primarily comprises masks, staffs, miniature stools, and musical instruments from a few African tribes and neighboring countries. While the collection is extensive and the artifacts are crafted in a unified style using similar types of wood and shells (possibly cowrie shells), the lack of detailed descriptions and the complexity of understanding the specificities of the tribes and their names make it challenging to retain much from the visit.
Despite these shortcomings, the museum is worth a visit for its unique architectural design. The entrance fee is 300 dinars.

Eh, I'd like to be able to say it's fine and interesting museum, but it's not. A huge collection of ritual masks and wooden sculptures, but that's all. Descriptions are almost non-descriptive, you can't learn a thing about those items, their personal history, their purpose etc.
There is almost no interaction with the history, just the lines of items under the glass. I would like to know more about the rituals, the amulets, the people who carved them, but museum has only the small snippets with names of items attached to them and that's all. That's sad.

It's more like a gallery. You can see about a hundred of art (or religious) objects. And that's all. You can't learn much or find out what's the difference of one item from the other and you can't discuss the purpose etc.

Museum of African Art is situated in a quiet residential area. They organize exhibitions, concerts and other cultural events, as well as art workshops for children and senior citizens. A hidden gem and a great place to visit.
If you are interested in contemporary art, the Museum is a must visit. Perfect architecture, stunning interiors, excellent exhibitions. The location and surroundings are noteworthy. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
Amazing building of great spaces in an incredible location and with a huge potential to house temporary art exhibitions, but unfortunately it contained little and low quality art. The best part of the visit was the building itself and the sculptures outside that are free to enjoy.

Sure, a place to visit, but there is also a museum shop, and it's perfect if you're looking for a unique gift (reproductions of middle-age jewelry, or original design by contemporary artists). A perfect and not well known gift shop.

Went to the exhibition of Russian court cutlery from 17-18th century which was well dispayed.
They were all replicas BECAUSE:
The Russian government sent the originals to an exhibition in the EU and it was ILLEGALLY CONFISCATED so they now do not send anything outside the country... This was horrible to hear that this can happen!!! Shocking and shameful actions....

I went there with no expectations, but was pleasently surprised by the extent of the stone and iron age collection on the first floor. I was able to reinforce the knowledge with my daughter who was just recently studying the period. The exhibition was very detailed and extensive and it continued into Roman times. The first floor also exhibits extensive collection of coins and paper money from iron age to today all stored in small rooms behind thick vaulted doors so some may find the rooms claustrophobic.
The upper two floors hold paintings and some sculptures mostly from Serbian authors from different periods. It also holds a few less known paintings from Gauguin, Matisse, Monet, Picasso, Degas.
There's also an Egyptian mummy exhibited on the third floor that was bought by serbian philanthropist in Luxor and brought to Belgrade about 150 years ago.
There's a very small and limited souvenir shop where I couldn't find anything interesting. There's no caffeteria, only a room with vending machines on the third floor.

The venue itself is very good. But the exhibition we ran into was not very good. Mostly were newspapers hanging on the wall. I was expecting the museum would offer some deeper exhibitions. And the price of tickets is unproportionally high considering there are not a lot to see there.
Very lovely museum to visit, lots of historical artwork, artifacts, ceramics, sculptures. Very lovely artwork and posters, really enjoyed visiting. The museum is very well kept and wasn’t expensive at all, staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Lots of Serbian history to see. If you’re in the area I would definitely recommend visiting this wonderful museum.
Lovely contemporary art museum to visit in the afternoon.
Nice art pieces of selected Serbian and international artists and we passed a very nice few hours there on Sunday.
On the websites it said there were no actual exhibitions going on but every show was on display.

I mean, it is only $3 for general entry and $5 for entry into the special collection! I have to say Belgrade is amazing, and everything (except dining on Kneza Mihaila) is very inexpensive.
The museum has a collection of stone age to modern art! I enjoyed the selection. They had some great (I believe) local art in the modern collection. I was quite impressed with the local art and would have liked a section of just local art. It was quite impressive.

For all the history buffs, this is a must visit. Rs600 ticket for contemporary and current exhibits. Not sure what that meant.
But the museum’s layout of exhibits takes you through the development of Serbia from pre-history to modern history with separate exhibits for the history of coins and art. There is even an Egyptian mummy in the museum!

Unfortunately stuff at the entry is very grumpy and rude! You have more welcoming attitude at security control in Germany airports! I wish they could be more customer oriented.
If you ought to spent the whole day (there are 3 levels from prehistoric times until nowadays that cover Balkan culture) than you need to know that there are:
- not many places to sit in the exhibition room, if you want to sit
- no cafeteria (probably under development) as there are only vending machines with coffee and snacks with decent prices. But, be aware they are not giving changes, so prepare banknotes
- you have to bend yourself to read small description stickers for each painting, unless you are a kid or a midget (who made a decision to put them on 1m height?! C'mon, do you even heard about ergonomic of museum facility ? Apparently not!)
- toilet facility is good thou
Overall I find it interesting for what they are representing at the given price

It's divided on three floors. Ground Floor is the designer clothes from people of eastern Europe. The first floor shows a Japanase photo exhibition, and the third floor is mainly furniture and posters. So if this is interesting for you it is worth a visit.
Very nice experience! Worth every penny spent on the tickets! You get to visit four floors with many art exhibits to look at, watch and listen to (at this point in time, at least), and read about.
There are different exibitions to see and entrance is free on the last Saturday of every month.
Large and spacious building. Many art exhibits of Serbian artists, sculptors and photographers. I got different emotions from visiting the museum: interest, surprise, delight, disgust. It was interesting.
The place you need to visit if you want to learn about the history of the region where Serbia is located starting from the ancient times, archeology, numismatic, art from different centuries by local and international artists. There is a permanent and temporary exhibition. If you want to visit everything the ticket is 600 Serbian dinars for adults, they have reductions for students, disabled people, groups etc. Even though I visited it on Saturday, it was not crowded. I had a nice time there.
Nice museum with relics from Europe, Egypt and the history of Serbia. Free to visit on Sundays. Some exhibitions require a special ticket. Nice to visit if you have an hour to spare.
A new, fresh museum, well-equipped technically. The exhibition changes every half a year. The exhibits can be presented in various designs: from an audio track with headphones to a large sculpture or a hall with swings.
This is one of the most welcoming places, bringing the spirit of Africa to the beautiful city of Belgrade. Love it!
A very underrated museum. A must visit if you're in Belgrade! The place is gigantic with plenty of exhibitions. If you love history, this place is for you. From prehistoric civilization, Roman Empire period, Ottoman Empire period, Austro Hungarian period, up until Yugoslavia period, it's all here. There's even a mummy from ancient Egypt.
This museum is located in the modern part of the city - in the center of a park on the bank of river Sava

A touch of Africa in Belgrade. Its small and therefore providing an intimate experience. I didn't spot any Kenyan artifacts 😔 but enjoyed all the same. Took me a max of 20 minutes!
Love the diversity of the exhibits through out the years. I keep coming back. Entrance fee has not been changed in the last 4 years. Cheep and something different to see. Recommended!
Strange combination of architecture and its purpose: the oldest private estate in Belgrade turned into a theatre museum. Still, it keeps a balanced architectural unity with the neighbouring Museum of Dositej Obradovic and Vuk Karadzic.
There was an nice exebition by Bob Živković, very popular illustrator for kids and other people. Everyone who is interested in nice illustrations, caricatures and books should find such like exebition in Belgrade, possible

Nalazi se u jednoj od 4 najstarije kuce u gradu. Uzivala samu snimku pozorisne predstave iz 1983.god Kolubarska bitka. Bila sam prijatno iznenadjenja ljubaznoscu zaposlenih. Za svaku pohvalu👏👏
Superior place
Divadelní muzeum se nachází v centru města a je nedílnou součástí divadla, dozvíte se mnoho zajímavostí spojených s divadelnictvim. Konají se zde i koncerty, muzeum je malé, ale stojí za návštěvu.
History of the Serbian theatre in one place. Very pleasant workers who will answer all of your questions. Placed in the center of Belgrade, yet peaceful, this is a place to visit if you are in Belgrade as a tourist, and a place you must visit if you live in Belgrade 😀
