Bought my hockey skates here and went to one of the public ice skating sessions. The skates I got were excellent quality, and I would recommend the shop. They do give great recommendations on the type of skates to get based on what you are looking for (beginner vs. intermediate vs. expert hockey skating or figure skating). However, I would make sure that the skates you get fit you 100% before walking out the store. The moment you use those skates on the ice, the store does not allow refunds or exchanges if you feel the skates are too tight or too large.
Fun place for public ice skating. I thought it was strange that they didn't offer public lockers...you have to just leave your stuff on the edge of the rink. I'm glad I had pockets for my phone/wallet/keys, as I would not feel comfortable leaving these items unattended in a busy public space. Some of the front-line staff seemed to either not know what was going on or just weren't paying attention. I think I did a full lap around the place just trying to find the restroom. Overall, our experience could have been better. One positive besides the fun of the actual skating was the cafe: the staff member there was very friendly and accommodating (e.g., checking the ingredients on a food item).

I took an adult beginner class here with Anna and she did a great job of teaching and I have no complaints for the classes. Public skating is $15 and includes rentals but the ice is so packed it's hard to even move around. There's also not a ton of times available for public skate which is probably why it's so packed.
My son has a on ice practice 2 a week, it’s to small. But his team regularly play games. We love it, hockey it’s a hard sport for strong boys and girls. Welcome to Caps Academy.
Exceptional Service from Ms. Taylor!!!
I cannot express enough gratitude for the outstanding customer service I received over the phone today from Ms. Taylor Peoples. Her dedication to assisting me went far beyond my expectations, and her commitment to excellence truly made my day.
Thank you, Ms. Taylor, for making my day so bright!
Nicely run rink. I booked in advance and appreciated that the friendly staff were ready with the proper sized skates for my larger group without my having to restate. The rink is not large but in a fun location, surrounded by shops and restaurants. Cute penguin-shaped assists were available for younger/newer skaters. Every so often skaters were asked to exit for a few minutes while a zamboni cleaned up the ice. It seemed well-organized. Parking was easy, not expensive, and close by. Skates weren’t totally comfortable but I think that might be inherent, not situational. :) Would go again.
The venue is nicely decorated, and they play fun Christmas music as you skate. There are lots of food options and parking is fairly easy to find. But their rental skates are so awful, it makes it hard to enjoy any of it. If they were able to get some better rental skates or if you can bring your own, then it would be awesome
They allow walk-in visitors but will charge more if you do not make a reservation online (even if there is no one on the rink). They don't accept cash. It's pretty pleasant and it's generally safe but sometimes the ice is not smooth.
I arrived at 6pm on a Monday and the ice was extremely choppy--big gouges all over. Very dangerous. It was like skating on a river bed. I asked the manager when the next cleaning was and he said 7pm. I asked if he would consider cleaning the ice earlier and he said no because there are only a few skaters on the ice right now. I didnt understand that logic and asked him to explain. He became very sarcastic and argumentative right in front of the other employees, saying, "Well, everybody else out there looks happy." So I guess I either have to deal with a crowded rink or choppy ice. I specifically came on a Monday to avoid crowds. He also refused to give me a refund saying, "We don't give refunds." All 4 employees were just sitting there doing nothing and they couldnt make an exception for a customer who asked politely. I am so disappointed. This was my favorite place.
If you like to ice skate!
This is the local place in Pentagon Row to do it!
They actually have pretty amazing ice for an outdoor rink!
Go have some fun while you are here!

They have skates to rent and a few really good restaurants nearby like Asian Bistro!
So just make it a date night !
Great shopping nearby at Pentagon City Mall as well!
They have hundreds of stores and a great hotel too!
Makes for a great day, night or weekend!
And finish up at Mimi’s Ice cream!
Homemade and amazing!
Pretty awesome. Caps practice here, facilities are amazing, ice is cold. You wish your local rink were this perfect. Only thing is ride share doesn't come to front door.
A good size quality outdoor rink, well maintained by the zamboni, and lots of skating aids for new starters. Tickets get you two hours of skating time which is great value for money. Easy to recommend.
It's always a good day when Ovechkin parks next to you. I was surprised because I thought they had a specific Capitals player entrance from parking garage. I really wanted to do the whole "big fan" routine, but it was early in the morning, and I try to let famous people go about their lives without distraction. But I really, really wanted to. On a low note the Potomac Patriots U12 lost 6-2 against the Caps Academy. It's a beautiful facility and the ice surface is fantastic. The only negative is Capitals ice time yields early morning games. Next week, at least drop time is 8 am, no need to get up at 5am.
What a lovely setting for this outdoor activity. Pentagon Row is a wonderful space to to have an outdoor rink. Lots of restaurants, shopping and people watching. The staff at the rink are fabulous. Ethan, both Olivias, Cartrell and Julian were FABULOUS as usual. Been here numerous times and its always a pleasure. They keep a watchful eye out and are vigilant in their duties. Bring Gloves, warm clothes, long socks and a fun attitude. Be sure to tighten the skates around the ankles to avoid injury. Lots of newbies on the ice, so try not to run them over. Most important of all....
HAVE FUN!
Great venue! They host Caps practice and numerous other ice related sports like synchronized, figure, and recreational skating. Parking is reasonable in the garage at just a buck for 3 hours. As of this post there's construction taking place in the complex but doesn't negatively impede the experience. Should be even better when completed.
Great place for kids. Staff is friendly and helpful. They are always watching out for people that fall and they help them up. Prices are pretty good too. 28 dollars for skate rental and skating for 2 people. Overall I highly recommend if you're looking for an outdoor skating rink.
