My boyfriend rescued a tiny sparrow from the street in Newark, NJ and I took care of the baby sparrow for 7 days! I went up and down to work at Kingsboro Psychiatric Center when the Infectious Desease Doctor told me my lovely FeatherRico could not be inside the center premises; so, I left work and tried at Prosoect Park Zoo but they gave me a form to sign that I could not claim if they “disposed” of the baby sparrow 🙀😿 I asked if they knew where I could live my loved bird and it was a true blessing for FeatherRico and myself since they were very warm and affective and they assured me they would take care of baby sparrow and when ready and strong 💪🏼 they would take it to the Central Park… Just joking I now say that FeatheRico is so chick he didn’t want to life in Bewark but found it’s way to life in the iconic Central Park 😸🫶🏼😍
I want to express my infinite thanks to Erika, the nurse and volunteer who received my baby sparrow 🤗

I brought them a Paragon Falcon that broke its wing when it was hit by a truck. I was only inside for maybe 30 seconds, you're not supposed to enter the facility, but as a science nerd it brought back great memories. Look in the windows, it's great. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. The work on donations. It's a great place please give generously.

I found a Dove with a bum wing and contacted this rescue. My call was returned fairly quickly and provided instructions to take the bird in same day. The intake process was successful and very quick. Ill be following up in a few weeks to learn of the status of the birds condition. Overall very easy and quick

Found a scared baby brown bird on the street. He obviously fell from a nest somewhere. Couldn't locate his family so I remembered hearing about the WBF on the upper west side. Quickly went to a bodega got an empty salad container poked a hole on the top, put the bird in and brought him up to the WBF. They took him in immediately!!! They followed up with me a few weeks later to let me know he did not make it because he had a bone condition and was too weak to pull through. But at least he went comfortably and in peace. Thank God for the WBF. Please support them if you can.

While the staff seemed helpful upon our arrival with an injured pigeon, we were unable even to enter the facility, we were told due to credible reasons of public health. Thus we had to leave the pigeon in their care.
We often care for injured pigeons in our home city, so we were confident the pigeon could be cured with the right treatment. We attempted contact with the clinic, but our emails and phone calls to inquire of the status of the pigeon were not returned for over 10 days. The reason given is that the staff is volunteer and prioritizes patient care over responding to all inquiries.
The response finally received was that the animal was euthanized, an abrogation of our direct plea not to kill the animal and to return him to our custody if they felt euthanasia was their only course of action.
Given the utter lack of transparency and inexcusably poor communication, regrettably I believe it vital that animals not be left in the care of this clinic until complete transparency and basic communication practices come into effect at a bare minimum. While we hope the staff acted in good faith with respect to the pigeon we brought them, we have absolutely no way to confirm that, and every reason to doubt them.

We found three baby baby birds in an ac unit at work. 2 were tiny and died by the morning we brought the one living fighter there today. I hope they can save it. I think a blue bird but not sure. Thank you for helping us and little Birdie. Can we find out what ultimately happens? - assisted living staff from Brooklyn

Found two baby black squirrels on 93rd street and took them here. I hope they can save them.
Update: they euthanized one of the squirrels. Don’t bring injured animals here, it’s a kill shelter.

I wish rescue for every species was this easy. Erica, Thank you. You were warm and reassuring. I don't doubt that every animal that comes across you has imprinted on you. I feel in my heart you are a Mama to many in your care. I have no doubt that the 3 fledglings and 2 tiny baby pigeons are in perfect hands and will make a full recovery to later be released. Thank you again Erica and staff
