Cycled here from Schwerin. Upon entry the security guard said bicycles are not allowed. Together with some other visitors, we asked if dismounting from the bicycles and pushing them is ok. The guard firmly said no. To this point it was okay, seems like the rule and we duly complied. Then I entered on foot without my bicycle and was surprised to see that there were many people in there with their bikes. I asked the guard again in German why are they allowed and he cant offer an answer. Then only he counter-offered that we could come in with our bikes. Honestly speaking, i do not want to insinuate but other than our skin colour, i dont see any other difference with other cyclist. The whole scenario does leave a bitter taste of racism and I hope the owner of the place looks into this.

Review of Schloss Wiligrad: A Mix of Beauty and Disappointment**

Nestled in a picturesque landscape, Schloss Wiligrad undoubtedly boasts captivating charm and natural splendour that is sure to capture the hearts of visitors. The castle's exterior is nothing short of beautiful, an architectural masterpiece that stands as a testament to its historical significance. The well-maintained garden that envelops the castle only adds to its allure, offering a tranquil retreat where visitors can immerse themselves in the serenity of nature.

However, the experience takes a somewhat disappointing turn upon venturing inside the castle walls. The decision to charge 5 euros for access to the castle interior feels disheartening, akin to an unnecessary barrier tarnishing an otherwise inviting setting. This unexpected fee for entry strikes as an offense to those who eagerly anticipate exploring the castle's history and its curated exhibits.

Moreover, the interior preservation of Schloss Wiligrad leaves much to be desired. The lack of organization and the limited space dedicated to the displays are quite noticeable. One can't help but feel a sense of let down as they navigate through what feels like cramped passageways and hastily arranged artifacts. The potential for a comprehensive, engaging historical experience is unfortunately undermined by the confined and disorganized presentation within.

The real disappointment lies in the state of preservation within the castle. One can't help but wish for a more concerted effort to maintain the interior's historical ambiance. While the beauty of the exterior and the allure of the garden set high expectations, the interior's small, cluttered rooms and lack of attention to preservation are at odds with the initial appeal.

In conclusion, Schloss Wiligrad has undeniable aesthetic appeal, surrounded by a breath taking garden that showcases nature's artistry. Nevertheless, the experience falters due to the unexpected fee for visiting the castle's interior, coupled with the lacklustre preservation, organization, and size of the exhibit spaces. While the external beauty is evident, the internal experience leaves visitors yearning for a more immersive and thoughtfully curated encounter with history.
Beautiful castle and surrounding. Worth making a stop.

Very nice castle a little north of Schwerin. Worth a short drive and a walk around by the lake.
