Definitely a place to ripoff foreigners. Most prices were explained in dollars and euros as if it’s the currency of the country. Nice atmosphere tho. The place definitely worth the visit. It’s truly beautiful

As the name implies, this place is extensive with lots of shops and different varieties of goods, foods and spices.

Even if you don't like shopping, I'd still recommend checking out this place. You can see, smell, taste and hear the goods on sale.

Remember to negotiate and/or bargain if you find anything you like.

The Grand Bazaar in Istanbul Turkey is worth the visit for the visual feast it provides. And maybe you will find a few things that catch your eye and will make a great souvenir. Just be prepared to haggle your pants off, because it is obviously geared towards tourists, and the prices usually start much higher than what it's worth. Regardless I would recommend going just for the experience of seeing the huge variety of goods for sale, and the way some of the shops are set up to show off their goods. Go. Enjoy. Have fun with haggling, and be prepared to say no thank you, and walk away if you feel like you are being taken advantage of.

Really enjoyed walking round here, well worth a visit.. the shops are a bit repetitive but I expected that, lots of Turkish delight, teas, ceramics etc., nice atmosphere. I spent more in the little shops outside. But also the bazaar streets are well paved and easy to walk, you can just walk there and enjoy. There is money exchange places and a few banks. You can get a really good rate for exchange!

The pinnacle of shopping experience in turkey, this place also has currency exchanges who offer very competitive rates in Istanbul, way better than at airport. Grand bazaar has an antique market. Don't shy away from doing hard bargains.

Amazing awesome grand bazaar. Lots of Turkish trinkets, spices, souvenirs are sold here. Price is generally expensive, need to bargain well to get a good price. Just love this beautiful & grand bazaar. However, the place is very crowded, thus need to be wary of pickpockets.

Take your time, take that unexpected turn. You'll find yourself at the end or the beginning of another set of stores. Stop for lunch or tea along the way...enjoy the bustle. Shop fairly and appreciate the moments. I took my 80 year old parents and it was fabulous. We finally found the clothing and textile section outside of the bazaar which was amazing. 100%cotton tea towels @ 2 for 50 TL. Worthy worthy experience.

A very busy place! Bought some spices, souvenirs, jewelry. Definitely bargain! The prices they say is usually 3x times more that what they agree for final price. So put on your bargaining hat and enjoy the shops!

You will mostly be welcomed with Turkish tea in most of the places! It's a huge place and it's very easy to get lost inside the market or keep track of your time!

A large shopping mall, so nothing really to see. Many stores with all the same things: jewelry, rugs, tea & Turkish delight. Designed to part tourists from their money. Merchants are unscrupulous. Prices are very high. If you visit, plan not to buy. Beware and avoid!

Pretty cool place. Worth a trip to have a walk through.

Only around a 5/10 minute walk through the market but loads of spices to see as well as the venue being beautiful.

Not far from the park and palace.

Busy place with fun shopping options. Diverse variety, not all spices for sure. If you are buying spices have them provide a rolling total of your charges as you go so you don't get a surprise at the end.

Stunning - one do the best places to visit.

Each shop sells similar things at different prices- do your research by walking around before buying.

The place itself is amazing and can easily spend 2-3hrs here

You can't say you have seen Istanbul if you haven't visited the Grand Bazaar. Make sure you spend time with a rug or clothing merchant and get the full salesmanship experience - "sit and just see, have some apple tea, let me give you my best no profit price as you are my friend and I have given my word" - seriously, it is a wonderful experience and a master class in capitalism. Yes, there is a lot of touristy stuff there, but there are plenty of treasures and quality goods to be found. Make sure you set aside a minimum of two hours for a basic visit, you could spend days exploring this place.

I enjoyed ambling in the Grand Bazaar for 2 hours today. Bargaining is a must!

There were mostly jewelries, souvenirs, bags and accessories, and clothes.

It is air conditioned and definitely worth a visit.

very nice touristic place to visit or to spend time. You will found there tourist gifts.
only one criticism, the restoration has taken its authenticity instead, it has become too modern.
But you have to visit this place, take the time to get lost in all these little alleys.

Absolutely loved visiting the bazaar, which to my surprise, was extremely well maintained, clean and organized. The stalls are all beautifully arranged and a sight to see. And unlike my expectations, vendors were respectful and not overly pushy. Definitely worth the experience!

It was a wonderful experience to see the Bazaar for the most part but extremely busy and be prepared to try to be invited into every shop you go by. Unfortunately one of our party suffered a thief when their currency was switched out for fake notes while a very over zealous taxi driver was assisting him with his currency for a taxi fare when leaving the bazaar so be cautious.

Some sellers don't allow photographs to be taken, but I did it anyway.

The largest market in Istanbul, this is the most popular and, as a result, busiest of the bazaars. However, it felt a little artificial to me, and I feel it's lost its historical charm. Tons of vendors here sell everything from spices, sweets, gold, lamps, souvenirs, handbags, fake goods, fur coats, and much more. Prices can be haggle, but they are all overpriced as this is a tourist market. The only thing that locals will buy here is gold, which is a good price (I bought them as an investment)

For a more authentic feeling, I suggest the markets outside or even the Egyptian bazaar. But still it's nice for an explore. Convenient public transportation nearby.

The architecture is amazing and the market is humongous. The market is only good for doing window shopping and I would not advice one to buy anything from here actually. The prices are inflated too much considering it is a very ‘touristy’ spot and thus one should avoid buying from here. It is generally famous for buying spices, raw nuts and even jewellery items

Marhaba 👋

The Grand Bazaar and the Egyptian Bazaar are two of Istanbul's most popular markets, and they offer visitors a unique shopping and culinary experience. Located close to each other, these two bazaars are not to be missed if you're looking to explore the city's vibrant markets.

The Grand Bazaar is one of the largest covered markets in the world, with over 4,000 shops selling everything from textiles and ceramics to jewelry and souvenirs. It's a bustling hub of activity, and the maze-like streets can be overwhelming at first, but it's an exhilarating experience to wander through the narrow alleys and discover the hidden gems within. The vendors are friendly and welcoming, and bargaining is a must if you want to get the best deals.

The Egyptian Bazaar, also known as the Spice Bazaar, is a smaller market located just a few minutes' walk from the Grand Bazaar. As its name suggests, it specializes in spices, but you'll also find a range of other products such as Turkish delight, dried fruits, and nuts. The aroma of the spices is intoxicating, and it's a great place to pick up some unique ingredients for your own cooking or as gifts for friends and family.

One of the unique features of both markets is the opportunity to eat as you shop. The Grand Bazaar has a number of small cafes and restaurants where you can stop for a traditional Turkish tea or coffee, or even a full meal. The Egyptian Bazaar also has a few food stalls where you can sample some local snacks and sweets.

Overall, the Grand Bazaar and the Egyptian Bazaar are both must-visit destinations for anyone visiting Istanbul. They offer a rich cultural experience, with colorful displays of traditional items and lively interactions with local vendors. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or a first-time visitor to Turkey, these markets are sure to leave a lasting impression.

Note 📝!

Additionally, it's a good idea to have Turkish Lira on hand when shopping at these markets, as some vendors may only accept local currency. You can exchange your currency at the bazaar , I think it’s the best rates.

Busy market and a better one than Grand Bazaar, in my opinion. There are lots of colours and smells here abd its great for photo opportunities. The prices are more or less fixed, so not much negotiating is available. It is located right outside the mosque so it's easy to find.

It was a fun visit especially looking at the gold filled windows. Nothing I wanted to buy but the wife bought some fabric. It sits on top of the hill so start on top and walk parallel downward. Only a few places inside for coffee and cake. They'll check you for bombs on the way in.

It's a nice modern market, I personally like the old school original markets better but it was nice and cool inside temperature wise. People are friendly and let you taste a lot of different samples as well as help you with finding different things you are looking for. It's clean and pretty spacious. We went during the week and it wasn't so crowded. The prices are higher than elsewhere in the city but they are willing to negotiate. Overall, it's a good experience!

What an experience. A must do when I’m Istanbul. Far better prices and far better custom relations then the Grand Bazaar. Can be a lot of the same things but not as bad as the Grand. Don’t forget to work on the price. They see tourists coming and are not afraid to push the price up. While it may still be cheap they will go down by 100 or even 200 Lira. A great experience.

TheGrand Bazaar of Istanbul is like Aladdin’s Cave… you can find anything and everything there. I have never seen so much gold, diamonds, silk carpets, silver… You can get lost very easily as you wonder around passages. It is a place you must visit if you come to İstanbul.

It's actually not what I expected. I was expecting a rather grand, high ceiling bazaar with a rustic feel. This is not. It is full of little shops which felt quite modern. It is a huge indoor market, but it feels more like a shopping centre than a market. I did get some bargains, but there are a lot of stores that sell the exact same stuff as the one next to it.

Located in the old part of the city, the market looks amazing. The decorations are super nice, the stalls are filled with goods and everything is very tidy. Great place to get things like spices, dried fruit, Turkish delights, etc. I just walked through here with a tour group but did not buy anything. Nice place to walk through and check out, crazy how this is the market for hundreds of years.

One of the most colorful places in all of turkiye. All shops are decorated as a piece of art. Can be super tempting for shopaholic. The choices for spices, sweets and artifacts are amazing. Must visit when the market is in its full glory. Don't forget to bargain as every item is over priced as compared to market price. A delight for the color lovers, highly recommended.

The architecture is amazing and the market is humongous. It is located right outside the mosque so it's easy to find. You can buy some souvenirs, Turkish delights, coffee, different types of tea, nuts and spices. Clean. Crowded.
