ABSOLUTELY and completely WORTHLESS!
Don't even waste your time calling, because they have nothing at all for homeless or poor people. They just send you on a trip to nowhere, by suggesting you call other numbers.
The homeless funding pays these people to answer the phone. But, they have nothing to offer! It's a complete scam and a waste of California's tax dollars. The WORST part is they will claim there is housing available, so you listen and think it's worth trying. But, after calling a dozen of the numbers they gave you, all you have received is MORE phone numbers to call.
So, that's the scam. You call and call and end up with NOTHING! You call 211 and get a new number to call. Then, you call the new number and they give another new number! NOBODY actually provides anything. They make a complete fool out of you by telling you to call more phone numbers. That's it. There's absolutely NO services. All you did was run your phone battery dead on calls to places that just give you more phone numbers.
This is cruel to do this to poor people in need. They should put this nonsense out of business and save the tax dollars. Imagine showing a hungry person a picture of food and telling them to call this number to get it. You call, and the next place shows you a picture of food, and you get a new number to call. But, no matter how many calls you make, you simply end up with nothing.
What a REAL agency would do is take your name and address and send someone out THAT DAY to move you to temporary housing, until they have permanent housing available for you. But, there's NOTHING at all like that. Not even close. Why can't they just be honest, for god's sake?
So forget about help coming to rescue you! Get a job and buy a car so at least you're out of the elements. Then, buy or build some sort of home on wheels as you earn more money. Finally, accept that this is how you will spend the remainder of your life. So, make sure your home on wheels has all the requirements of a real home. It's all up to you, to provide for yourself. Learn that now and for forever!
Honestly, did you really think any government agency was ready and willing to come help you? Of course not! You learned a very important life lesson today. Whatever you make of your life is all up to YOU! Remember that! So, make a plan for a better future!
My final advice! Do this, if you still insist on calling 211. Just ask them straight out if there is ANY sort of shelter or housing for anyone experiencing homelessness. Don't lie to me, you say. Just tell me the truth. Do you have anything RIGHT NOW to offer me? No? Nothing? OK! Thank you, you say.
That's the best way to get a straight answer out of them.
Use common sense. If there was really any help, why would there be millions of homeless people sleeping out in the cold? Of course, there's NOTHING!
Good luck! Bye now!

It’s not great. People hang up on you. When you first call 211, if you wait a few seconds too long the call machine will freak out and go all robotic. Then hang up on you.
Some people working here will only give you, the place cellphone number. So don’t even bother asking them full questions or you will be told that you are lazy, and to find it yourself.
When I’m reality you just have anxiety and hate talking to people and the experiences with operates you encountered with only further proves your point.

The real truth about 211, it's a freaking joke. They absolutely have the worst resources especially if you're from out of town or is you're new to the area you literally have to live in the city for like years before they even like will help you. It's so absurd and so asinine that literally I was told while there's nothing we can do there's requirements and since you're not from here hence I moved here for work opportunity not to mention I have a job but it doesn't really matter what you have or what how much footwork you do they do not care about their people or people in general. Every resource that was forwarded to me was an absolute best. When I was stuck out in the rain I was basically told to just go hang out at a library or hang out at the mall not to mention I don't have a car so I was literally told hey you can walk an hour and 7 minutes out of your way or 47 minutes out of your way to get out of the rain other than that since I have a job but no place to lay my head at night I just need to figure it out. Like the best I could do for me was sit there and talk to amongst each other but you can hear them in the background throwing out stupid absurd suggestions like who tell someone to basically go hang out under a bridge or hang out under somewhere that's covered and basically you're on your own you walk the streets if you just got to figure it out because you have no quote on quote ties to the city. I guarantee you and I promise this on everything that I love once I get back on my feet I'm going to push for a change in how they give resources and and to whom resources are available too cuz this makes no sense for someone to or anybody to relocate and basically do what they can to get on their feet with having a job and basically being told and you know what just going to have to figure it out what's the point of 211 what's the point of resources what's the point of any of this and as a native American I just feel like I just been crapped on like I should even have to be in a situation like this however it is what it is like if you're not from here and if you're not tied to the city do not and I absolutely promise you this do not use 211. You will basically be wasting your time. And before anyone tries to respond trying to be cute to this post I have screenshots and I have phone conversations recorded just to show proof that these people out here do not give a damn at all. But it is what it is and this experience has made me better spiteful and just absolutely resentful and at the end of the day I'll be all right I'll figure it out on my own like I always do the blessing of it all is that at least I have a full-time job so resource in the resource I don't even use my native American benefit so why should I even use theirs.

Soooooooooooooooooo bad. I tried to get gov assisted health benefits due to being laid off and losing my health insurance. Phone calls don’t go through and they only communicate by mail. I was scheduled for an “interview” with a case worker on the same day that I received the letter in the mail informing me of the appointment and it didn’t matter anyway because they never called. If you do talk to someone, expect there to be 10 other people you’re supposed to attempt to contact for answers and probably more forms to fill out. Also, don’t expect them to actually review your claims, they will just go into limbo for months until they’re denied with no reason.

They gave me misinformation multiple times in regards to how to renew my benefits. I called almost every day for 1 week in a row, put on hold for hours, and was either told the wrong information as to what to submit to renew my CalFresh or that they couldn’t see what I had submitted at all. Even after confirming what I had to put on my documents, and asking over and over again if that was all I had to include, they would forget to include a document I had to submit and they did not tell me to write down a minor detail that resulted in my case being closed. I’m very upset as I have been waiting for my EBT card to reload for a month and time after time have just been getting told the wrong information and it wasn’t even my fault in this case that they were unable to renew it.

The social workers here are so incredibly helpful. They do not get enough recognition for the thousands and thousands of Orange County residents who need government assistance. Thank you OC social workers for all the selfless work and dedication you tirelessly put into your job helping those in our communities who need it most. Your work is severely unappreciated. Thank you, thank you, thanks you.

211 is no help especially for youth that are disabled you have to wait 5 hours for someone to answer and then some don’t care and just keep transferring you to a different person and you have wait 5 more hours

This is actually for 211 lacounty, but there's no option for that.
Extremely long wait times, such as about 3 hours in one go, several times.
Nosy reps. No help. Not willing to call again. Useless.

IT IS UNKNOWN WHAT IS BEHIND OF NONEWORKING SOCIAL WORKER WHO IS RUDE AND CARELESS AND STILL COLLECTING A PAYCHECK FROM GOVERNMENT !!!!!@

Extremely helpful if you explain your situation, they with work with you to address to your specific need or circumstance. Truly a great resource and a blessing to all homeless ✨

I believe when you work in a helpful jobs like that, they have to choose people with good heart. Crystal Carr was absolutely the right person I talked to on the phone. She was so nice. Respectful, and professional. I really appreciate people like you to help people who needs help like me. Thank you social service.

Public service from his best. You are dealing with this agency. They call you, they write letters to you, they send emails to you and all the time they add the phone number of the case officer. You call the number and get the feedback the number is wrong and can not be dialed.. You call the main switchboard and will get a long announcement. But you cannot speak to your case agent. The only thing I would like to know after 10 days is why she did not read the email she asked me to send her.

Been homeless over two years. They gave me a list of low cost rentals throughout Orange County. That's it. Most of the listings had waiting lists that were full or were for 6 months to as long as 3 years. No help whatsoever for right now. Useless organization.

5/5 stars...211 agent displayed keen passion for helping others. Served as an exemplary 211 agent. Was on the phone for 51 minutes and it's 330 am...Flawless and thoughtful!
Thank you.
Thank you.

2 days until my due date and they had me waiting for nobody. I've been here since 7 😭 and still waiting 9:30!! They didn't even send my info to anybody to be helped.

Absurdly long waits for even the mundane and safe space poster; otherwise, the workers are very helpful.
