I am absolutely relieved to find out that I am not the only one who has had an issue with the front desk staff. literally every bad review on here has nothing to do with the gym itself which is really nice it’s the front desk staff that are rude and incompetent. In fact they are continuously trying to charge me when I already quit the gym. They will not answer any emails that I sent to them. Clearly it is an issue with the upper management. It’s quite obvious they are emotional and have issues from the past and are trying to take it out on people. Pretty embarrassing if you ask me. The first day I came in to ask for a membership; there was a black lady who was very rude even when I tried to be as kind as possible. Anyways, like I stated earlier, I am relieved to find out that there have been other people who have had issues with the front desk and it’s not just me thinking I did something wrong.

I called this place TWICE to ask about membership pricing and their Jan promotion. Receptionist picks up the call forwards me further to membership person where I left voice message twice. You can terminate that position without hesitation for being useless

Althought at the begining really liked me..then i started to notice that they never clean around the machines..is very dusty. The steam room is always with a lot of problem. Never works and the hair dryer it doesnt work either. You can spend 30 min trying to dry your hair. Also in some showers light doesnt work either and usually the steam room is also dirty.
The good thing is that they have variety of machines and the place is nice.

This Y is superior to many. The interior decor is posh. Plenty of equipment, all up to date. There was no wait for machines. The pool is gorgeous and clean. The women's locker room is done up in expensive finishes and feels like a four star hotel spa. Lots of showers, lockers, and even warm towels. Each locker room area is small and has a semi-private feeling. The facility is well maintained and the staff is friendly.

I have used this gym over the past two years while visiting the DC area. It is a nice extension of my nationwide membership from another city. The facility itself is really neat and I enjoy the equipment they have, plus the swimming pool and punching bag.
Most of the staff has been pleasant to engage with. However, there is one woman that works the front desk, and has over the past two years, that is uncomfortable to be in the presence of, and is, unfortunately, unavoidable. My experience has been such that, she seems to intentionally attempt to create a conflicting dynamic as often as possible, and, in my case, for something as simple as checking in to the gym from out-of-town. Treating customers consistently as an emotional punching bag is enough for me to go elsewhere to workout. Guessing that since she still works there, and given that this seems to be a common experience in other reviews, this is most likely a reflection of upper management.
Wish you all would have healthier standards, especially for a gym.

Great experience, and the staff is very helpful. Clean spaces, good equipment and nice pool. Convenient hours.

For 80 dollars a month you’d think the first desk staff would be a lot friendlier. They are quite condescending and unwelcoming to guest. It also always smells like a mix of tacos and sweaty feet in the main lobby. They also LOVE to rush you out the gym during closing. They even turned the lights off in the whole gym before I could collect my things out the locker room. Super unprofessional and impatient front desk staff. Trainers and other employees are always nice tho.

Beautiful YMCA neatly tucked in the heart of DC. Awesome Life Fitness, Hammer Strength and Cybex equipment, a rock wall, swimming pool and friendly staff and trainers. Parking isn’t too bad considering the area and there is a garage around the corner . Highly recommended!
