We did a package trip for Sydney, Melbourne & Cairns with Brisbane added on in October 2022. The price was very good and the initial support was good, but there were more hiccups than one would have expected.

For arrival in Sydney the hotel shuttle instructions were explicit noting the transport companies desk would be just outside the customs exit. We searched the whole area without finding it. In the area where the desk was supposed to be there was an Airport Information desk and the gentleman there said there had been no desk for that company in over two years since Covid but he was very helpful and called the transfer company who directed us to a bus loading area. A mini bus did arrive with a different company name but the driver said they did contract for the company we had and agreed to take us even though we were not on his list.

For our included tour the next day no one showed up and when we finally contacted that tour company they said the tour was booked for the following day even though our Downunder Itinerary had us on the day we showed up. We were able to contact our Downunder Agent in Calgary who confirmed the booking we had was correct and the local tour company had the dates mixed up and offered the tour for the following day but our schedule was full, we did get a $75 refund for the two spots on the tour (that seems to be low). We also mentioned the issue of the inaccurate direction for the airport shuttle in Sydney to our agent who did not seemed concerned about it.

Our airport shuttle pick up at our Brisbane hotel was scheduled for only 2 hrs prior to our international flight home and when we asked the travel agent about this she indicated this was the recommendation of the shuttle company and we could contact them if we were concerned. We did change our pick up time to more than 3 hrs prior to our flight and found out the shuttle was originally booked as a domestic flight instead of an international flight.

In general the pick ups for tours booked through Downunder were late whereas tours we booked ourselves though Get Your Guide were all on time if not a little early.

I would recommend Downunder Travel if you are basing a decision on price and are prepared to deal with most of the onsite logistics on your own.

No worries. That’s what you have to look forward to when you book a trip with Jason and his team at Downunder Travel. Our family of four took a once-in-a-lifetime trip for almost six weeks to Australia and New Zealand and not only did Jason (patiently!) personalize a tour that took our young boys’ and my husband’s and my interests and tastes and budget in mind, but he recommended some truly memorable experiences I would never have chosen on my own. There were many gems in both countries that we will forever look back on fondly.

We stayed in 11 locations and airport transfers eliminated the normal stress of getting to and from the airport. His teams on the ground in Australia and New Zealand were contactable 24/7 and it gave me great comfort to be able to rely on them to take care of any contingency when needed. Thank you again Jason for creating such an absolutely special and unforgettable trip for us!

The customer service, industry knowledge and travel recommendations provided by Jason and his team made our vacation to Australia very memorable and stress free! Jason's team took care of mine and my husband’s, my in-laws, and my sisters itineraries travelling between Canada and Australia.

For the in-laws, he took care of everything including flights, airport transfers, hotels, and excursions. My family were so appreciative to the attention to detail Jason provided when thoughtfully planning their trip based on their age, lifestyle, and desired travel experiences. They thoroughly enjoyed all the activities Jason booked them and their accommodations were in great locations! In addition, the price offered by Down Under Travel was very competitive to what they found online.

Monica assisted my sister and her friend with their flights to Canada, she also provided them with information about moving to Canada on a working visa and border security requirements. She also got their medical insurance booked at a more competitive price then they could find themselves.

Jason provided me with amazing service when I was stuck in a pinch with lost travel documents. I called the Down Under Travel emergency phone from the airport check-in, Jason took care of my flight credit in minutes allowing me to focus my attention on completing the necessary paperwork for emergency travel. When I was approved to travel again, he helped me book my flights at 7.30am MT and got me on the most affordable flight leaving in just a couple hours’ time from making the booking!

As an Aussie who has been living abroad for 10+ years, I have travelled to and from Australia many, many times. Pre-covid, I always booked my flights online without a travel agent as I thought I would be getting a better deal. When travelling during the pandemic, I decided to use an agent due to travel requirements being so complex. Jason did a great job in setting up our itinerary for a New Zealand vacation. Our vacation was everything that we wanted. As we travelled shortly after Cyclone Gabriel we had some concerns but Jason and his local contacts in New Zealand kept an eye on things and even suggested a slight change for us to ensure the cyclone damage wouldn’t impact us.
