Top Dim sum restaurants in Markham, Canada

Heard so much about this location on social media and was extremely excited to try it out!

The dim sum menu is quite expansive and also has numerous chef specials which appear to be quite worth it especially in larger groups

The food generally came out quite fast, was prepared well, and tasted great! It’s extremely busy, however, so making a reservation helps with getting in on time. Due to their high volume of customers, they forgot a few of our orders and we had to remind them several times even an hour after ordering

Overall great food, would recommend!

We came here for a special occasion and ordered the special combo of the week which cost $188 and opted to upgrade to lettuce wraps for an additional $15. The Pumpkin Soup came with seafood, which sounds like it wouldn’t work, but it did. We were huge fans! The Peking Duck was fantastic. Pro tip: the wraps for the Peking Duck dry out relatively quickly so be sure to eat that when it comes out. The lettuce wraps were a close second. The minced meat was really tasty without being overly salty. We really enjoyed the vegetables that they added into the meat as it gave each bite an extra crunch. They used pork neck to make their sweet and sour pork which was a bit interesting. The meat was slightly tougher and the breading was cooked in a way that made it extra crunchy. The eel was as expected. Delicious. But watch out for the tiny bones. The Abalone was really fresh and cooked perfectly and packed a lot of flavor. We got an assortment of desserts that included Mango Pudding, Cookies and Red Bean Soup. It was the perfect way to end the night. All in all our experience was superb and was enhanced by the excellent service we received.

Another good HK restaurant with good dim sum in the morning. Inside seating is not small compared to outside look of the entrance . We came in Friday morning, but missed 11 early bird rate. The dim sum quality is above average with big portion, the price is above average too though.
Service here is not bad, will come back try more dishes.

This was surprisingly the most lacklustre Chinese fine dining I’ve ever had in terms of food quality.

Chicken dumpling - tasted more like celery as there were big celery chunks in the dumpling. Quite bland.

Vegetable with crispy onion- best part was the crispy onion. The onions saved the dish, they were flavourful.

There were hardly and green leaves but the downside was that the stalks were so chewy and hard to bite, maybe the veggies were not so fresh. We had to wrestle with the stringy and chewy stalk.

Crispy wonton with sweet and sour sauce - this was good because the sweet n sour sauce had big shrimps, sliced char siu, chicken and bell peppers. Anything fried and crispy is most often a win

Crispy Chow mien with sliced pork and onions - dismal. It lacked flavour. The pork was slivers, same size as the onions. A few strands of carrot for colour variation maybe. At least it was crispy. But no, maybe order another noodle dish, skip this one.

Almond crusted shrimp balls- this one was a win, because it tasted like how a shrimp ball would taste in other Chinese restaurants around the area. Crispy on the outside, shrimp heaven on the inside.

Service was efficient.

Interiors - typical Chinese restaurant style where the tables were so close together, good luck in getting to your seat if you’re not seated near the walking aisle.

Really great experience. Got in quickly on a Sunday even though it was quite busy! The food was fantastic - the best beef rice rolls I’ve had (the coriander was a nice touch) and the fried noodles with beansprouts were also a big hit. We will be back! We also ordered crystal shrimp har gow and beef ribs - they were good, and the chiu chow dumplings were interesting - I liked the crunch from the peanuts.

Visited here for the first time. Quality of the food was great, as well as the service. A decent selection for dim sum. Tables were a bit close to each other but otherwise the atmosphere was good. Will definitely be back here for dim sum again.

Decent Markham restaurant that serves up good Cantonese dinner dishes.

We ordered the roasted Peking Duck and Stir Fried Lobster combo for 6 people. Food was freshly made. Mixed seafood soup was good. The roasted duck cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The second course was bitter melon roasted duck, and it goes well with white rice. Sea cucumber with stir fried vegetables was alright. Steamed sea bass fish was cooked perfectly, soya sauce was not overpowering. It came with complimentary red bean dessert soup, cookie and mango pudding. Overall, a good value Cantonese dinner meal for ~$50 a person.

Great Dim Sum place at Markham area!! I came with a group of foodies, we ordered a lot of dim sum, the size of them were big and tasty, we got our belly all full.
I like that they also have some different kind of dim sum that other places don’t have.
Servers are friendly and attentive, our empty plates got cleared out promptly.
Place is spacious and clean, they even have patio during warm weather too.
Get the VIP card for better discount and it’s only $20

Food was mid, noodle soup was completely bland. Server talked to me like I was an idiot for not being fluent in Cantonese when I asked for the wifi in English. The renovated interiors are really nice, but not worth the rest of the experience here.

A little on the expensive side, but food is good. Quality is similar to the nearby ding tai fung, but this one has smaller menu

I hadn’t been to A La Kitchen in a while, but was really craving some steamed dumplings and Shanghai fried noodles. I have a few go to places but I decided to order from A La this time and it didn’t disappoint! Also grabbed the pan fried dumplings and there was pretty much no leftovers.

I haven’t dined-in for a while so I can’t speak to that right now but the food was yummy!

I understand that inflation is in place and everywhere has went up in price but WEW this place definitely inflated more than other places! 4 regular xiaolongbao were like $8.50? What place serves only 4 xlb? And for over $2 a bao??

Anyway, we got the pan fried buns. It's 4 per order but at least it's much bigger than the xlb. It's pretty great! Not too many chives/onions, and it's quite filling. I like the simplistic taste. The bun was not burned at all, and not soggy.

Service was ok... Our server misunderstood our order. She didn't verbally clarify our xlb order so it never came. Anyway, it's fine because we were full from the pork chop noodles.

Noodles were amazing. I loved the taste! The pork chop has a hint of curry in the batter. The meat was fresh and the pork chop tasted great!

It's definitely a higher price point. For our 2 noodles and 2 own pan fried buns, it was $49 without tip. I'd come again but only if I'm not super starving.

I normally have the shanghai fried noodles and a chicken cold noodles in peanut sauce. They both taste good with large portions. Price is what can be expected nowadays

Not a great experience at the establishment. And it takes a lot for me to give a low star review. Staff not welcoming at all when first entering. They doing you a favour for seating you. We reserved a table at 6pm Saturday evening for 4. First time coming to this Shanghai restaurant. Food 5.5/10. Not authentic, dishes tasted bland and not the right type of ingredients for some of the dishes. Quantity similar to other Shanghai restaurant even compared to many restaurants I’ve dined at in Shanghai (having lived and worked there).

We were seated at 6pm. Ordered around 6:15pm. Food started to come around 6:25pm. Quick service. Then a waitress comes over at 6:30pm and tells us they need the table at 7pm and if we would be finished by then. A bit rude considering we had made a reservation to enjoy a meal but now feeling rushed to finish fast. I could’ve done that at home if I wanted to eat quickly. Anyways we finished and left and don’t think will ever return.

Good quality chinese food. I had the dinner combo for 2 for $50, which came with a soup, dumplings, 2 dishes and dessert. Food quality exceeded my expectations. Restaurant decor is also slightly upscale. They are busy on weekends, but easy to get a table on weekdays. I will return.

hey have a new condensed menu. A focus on Northern Style Dimsum…. Steam Pork Dumplings ($7.25) Pan Fried Pork Dumplings ($8.60) are my fave. They also make a great fried Rice Cake with pork ($17.99) and a classic Shanghai Noodle with pork & cabbage ($15.99)

This place have been around for around 20 years and was once always crowded with line ups. The food is always fantastic.

They have since downsized to half the size most likely due to covid. But it is great to see they survived these tough times!!
