For starters, I appreciate that you are open on Sunday, which seems to be a good day for me to pick up a nail! The shop is clean and well run. The service rep was friendly despite being very busy. I felt valued as a customer and appreciated the great service!
WARNING, AVOID THIS SHOP AT ALL COSTS!!!!
Well where do I start..... I had an appointment for a tire install. I arrived on time and was immediately told that the wait was 2.5 hours. Why? I had an appointment! What can I do now? I'M HERE! Why couldn't you call and say we're overbooked, can we reschedule? Anyway, I informed my commitments that I was running late. Then, I watched the technicians in the shop through the window. This was a mistake! They moved so slow it was painful to watch. I joked with a friend on the phone that they moved like sloths. Finally 2 hours later (after just 1 install in that bay) my car was in the bay. Oh, I thought, I'm 45 minutes from being out of here. Then no one touched the car for over 1/2 hour. Finally the tech started on my car he was looking at all kinds of stuff except my tires. I finally I asked him to stop his inspection and mount my tires, which after the managers approval he did. Mounting the tires took along time as he moved slowly and no one else helped him. Meanwhile one of the other tech's sat on a stool hiding behind a truck in another bay reading his phone for at least a half hour, probably more. THEY ALL KNEW I WAS PRESSED FOR TIME AND ACTED LIKE THEY COULDN'T CARE LESS! HAVE NEVER WITNESSED SUCH LOUSY AND INCONSIDERATE SERVICE IN MY LIFE!
I made an appointment for my car when my engine light turned on, though I had no noticeable issues. I dropped my car off at 6pm on a Tuesday, knowing the work wouldn’t be done until the next day. However an hour later I get a call saying they found the problem, and could probably get the work done that night but would call me the next day to confirm. He also says the technician took a picture of the issue and would be happy to show me when I pick it up. Wednesday goes by and I don’t hear anything, then Thursday. At 4:15 Thursday I call for an update and get told the work was completed that Tuesday evening and I should’ve received a call. The last communication I had was that first call authorizing the work, nothing after. The gentleman at the desk apologized, saying he wasn’t sure how that was overlooked (leaving me without a car for two full days). When I ask about the picture of what they said was wrong, he gets flustered, then goes to check with the technician who did the work, then tells me “he forgot” to take the picture. I paid nearly $1000 for the work done, including a engine diagnostic and “courtesy check” that showed everything (including lights, tires and battery) as “checked and acceptable” but not even 3 hours later my engine light is back on, my turn signals are blinking incorrectly (way too rapidly, both the left and right), and my low tire pressure warning turns on. Of course it’s after hours at this point, so I try to call to leave a voicemail but there is no voicemail box, either. So not only was communication incredibly poor, but I don’t believe the work was done the way they claim it was. I would give zero stars if I could.
I usually do safety inspection at nearby station, but there is always a waiting line. This shop has less cars or sometime open. I stop by for saving my time and balance local business. But felt the inspector at this shop was very picky even at the first time a few years ago when he didn’t pass my car and until replace windshield wiper blades at his shop. This time he didn’t pass my cars because of brake shoes. When I replaced them at my friend shop and been told they could be having a few years in use. Refer to photo below. I learn the lesson and like to share here, which is time spent in waiting line is worth It.
I made an appointment and show up they don’t have my appointment even though I have an email confirmation. I went in for an oil change and alignment. They tell me they can’t complete and alignment and that the oil change is going to be 2-3 hours. The staff was nice but the coordination was sloppy. I called to make sure I could get the service completed and took time from day just to find out I wouldn’t be able to complete the service.
DO NOT COME HERE, ESPECIALLY IF YOURE A WOMAN.

They price gauge, exploit and sell retail parts!

This place wanted to charge me $127 for 1 gallon of coolant, got it for $20 from another shop.

They wanted to charge me $1000 for a fix that I was able to get fixed for $300 elsewhere.

I only needed one hose fixed, they told me two.

They are liars and dishonest.

They take advantage of those that know nothing about mechanics and cars to get more money out of you. And their labor is 3x more than the going rate for McLean location.
This is the worst Firestone service station in the country. Zero stars for customer service. They did not have the tires I always purchase from Firestone in their system. Giving it one star just because always got good service from other locations.
Richard and his team treated me amazingly!

I came in after having issues with the brakes on my truck and they found out how bad of a job the previous mechanics shop did (poorly installed very cheap parts that lasted less than 2y / 20k miles, but costed me $1200)

Richard communicated with me very clearly and patiently about the problems that the cheap parts and poor labor created, and made recommendations to ensure I didn’t run into the same issues in the future. When the job wasn’t done by end of day, Richard and the technician Cao stayed late until 9pm (on a Saturday!) to make sure I could pick up my truck that night and not have to wait until Monday.

Even if the parts they installed weren’t cheap, they worked with me to ensure I could save some money here and there. I also feel much safer driving on these new parts after seeing what happened in the past.
I arrived at 10:30 for an 11:00 appointment and was told it would be 3-4 hours for an alignment! I asked why my appointment wouldn't be honored, which I was told would be 1hour when I made it. The manager told me that appointments are meaningless and did not mean the car would be serviced within a reasonable time

I have been a customer at this location and noticed the quality and customer service has been declining lately. Seems there was a management change and the Firestone reputation is being diminished. Time for corporate to step in and restore the brand.

Very kind and efficient people. A bit of a gem when it comes to shops. Recommend more than any body shop I've gone to in VA

My car battery died at a parking lot near them. I walked to them and asked if I can borrow a jump start unit from them. They not only let me use it for free, taught me how to use it and even offered to walk with me back to my car.

I called the an hour before arriving to see if they were doing inspections and was told until 2pm. I drove out of my way and arrived at 12:30pm and was turned away. Horrible service. Won’t give them the chance to have my business in the future for anything.

White smoke coming from the hood of the car stopped our journey short. A call and a tow to McLean BP Service (they're open late!) got our vehicle to safety. They repaired the car the next day and we were back on our way in less than 24 hours! Very reasonable price and efficient service. They even called to make sure we made it to our destination safely without further issue. Highly recommend if you're stranded on 495.

DO NOT INSPECT YOUR CAR HERE. This GUY SAID TO ME IM GOING TO FAIL YOUR CAR.
Yes, I told him that I fixed the issue and asked me to go back to that place. I stated that I do not wish to go back there because of their rudeness. Your inspector said, Im not going to pass your car. He told me your taillights are tined and I said, its protection film and the taillight is black color.
I said, to him are you going to inspect the car or not.
Then your Inspector (was trying to falsely accuse me of threatening him. He was recorded and It's 6 months jail time in Virginia with 10,000 dollars fine.

BP McLean is always the first place I think of for my car maintenance. They have fair prices, no games, are transparent, and are good at what they do. I think the owner is running a business I will keep returning to!

Sep2023: I thought I had a leak under my car and BP was honest and said after looking everywhere, they didn't find a leak they said it was likely AC condensation and no problem. They recommended some maintenance work but didn't pressure at all. This is always my go-to for honest work, including for oil changes which I always use them for. Thanks!

Had a great time with the quick and responsive servicing of my car here. They ran into an issue regarding the parts I brought them from the dealership and carefully recorded the evidence. Ultimately Liberty helped me sort it out with the dealership's parts department so I was only charged for their service once. Will be back in the future!

Using cheap parts for almost OEM price. They replaced o2 sensor in my Lexus and it was not working. Took it back there, and the Tech was like we need to reorder the part and he refused to order OEM part (only $30 expensive than what they ordered). Leave the car for overnight and he promised will be ready the next day. Next day I was waiting for the call which i never received. Call them at evening cashier picked up the phone she said the technician is gone, and the Lexus is not ready for pickup. I got charged what the Lexus dealership quoted.
I was refer here and they manager help when I accidentally place the wrong fluid in my power steering at a reasonable price. They don't have a place to wait when it's cold outside.

I've been going to McLean BP for many years to have the annual safety inspection done. Mr. Kim runs a great service station. I know when I take my car here that he will perform an honest inspection, unlike some shops that always manage to find something wrong. I also have oil changes and tire rotations done here. Highly recommended!
