We strolled along the Savannah river thru the River Street Market Place not for any real reason but to say we've been there and done that. It was nice, the wives popped in to various shops we watched large container ships come into port, and had a cold beverage. It's good that Savannah maintained the old buildings and repurposed them so we can still see the history that built this city.
The vendors were very friendly and helpful. Very clean
Nice way to spend a relaxing day just walking and/or shopping. Plenty to see and do
Great places to eat and shop. I love the walking along the river.
My family loves to shop here whenever we are in Savannah. There are lots of unique vendors here. You can find all types of interesting items like handmade jewelry, artwork and even more traditional souvenirs. The atmosphere is fantastic, prices are reasonable and there’s always something for everyone. River Street Marketplace is a very well done re-creation of the market buildings that were on the river during the 1800s. So there’s some interesting history there too. Definitely recommended if you are visiting historic Savannah and enjoy shopping.

Fun open market and stores but prices are consistent with tourist traps, I made no purchases.
The people lurking around watching the tourists were sketch. My husband had a full time job watching the guy that followed us for 2 blocks and evidently had his eye on me or my cross body bag.
You need to climb a mountain to get back to street level. 😆
I'm glad we went during the day. The fake paddle boats were there.
The cobblestone, foot thick doors, and history were very cool to see. This is why there are 5 stars.
If you are a tourist, it is required. You have been to this place many times though. Some funky clothes, jewelry, henna tatts, turtles from welded nuts and the like. This one does have a rather cool wood etching place with plenty of cool things.

You are likely to walk through. It's not bad and if you are in the right mood, you will make someone's day and buy something.

To be clear these aren't tchotchkies, but you have been here.
Wonderful place with an incredible chill atmosphere. Multiple street musicians that were excellent both days we were there. You'll get hungry because all the restaurants wafting onto the walkways. Probably 15 to 20 gift shops with an open marketplace at the East end where local craftsman display their products. A jazz club in the lower street entrance of the Marriott. The historic power plant had a live band playing somewhere inside. We spent 2 days walking there and the historic area a block up from River Street. Extremely friendly people, great restaurants, excellent bar and club scene. Definitely worth visiting. I have traveled around the world 3 times with the military and 4 times as a civil. Spent a lot of time in Asia and Savanah is one of the most beautiful places I have been. I would live there
