Morning booster is great! Poached eggs boiled to perfection , spinach and mushrooms delicious . Only minus apple juice is in fact from a bottle , not freshly squeezed - as almost everywhere in the UK however ..

Just arrived in Edinburgh, and needed a good meal to get us started. Found this little gem just across the road from our apartment. Very friendly staff! (Torri ?), fun decor, and really delicious food in AMPLE servings. Will definitely return.
Very cute place but hard to sit well, the space is limited but it's okay. Food was also okay, I expected something I couldn't cook at home. Maybe I should've ordered something else.

We dropped in for a cooked breakfast. Beware the high prices. The menu by the road shows no prices. You only start to realise how much this is going to cost you after you sit down. Two breakfasts and three coffees came to just under FIFTY POUNDS. The food was alright and the coffee was very good but I won't hurry back.

Very kind staff. We were with a large group and they were understaffed. The lady who served us apologized several times because it took a long time, even when we said that we had no problem with it. The wait was well worth it, the food was fantastic!

Really enjoyed the food! I could eat the avocado toast every day. Loved that it was nutritious and at a good price as well. Only downside was that the restaurant was quite cold; my wife ordered what turned out to be a colder meal, and she was uncomfortable by the end. Would have been nice with some heat on.
Absolutely LOVED this place for brunch! Incredible menu for all dietary requirements, food , coffee, baked treats all delicious 🤤 I wish it was my local but if I return to Edinburgh I'll definitely come here.
Emma was so helpful considering our party of 5 had various dietary requirements.
It's a cute cosy atmosphere
Thank you a lovely experience 💗

Such great breakfast, one of the best places I have ever tried. The homemade soup is so delicious! The club sandwitch is another level, and the grilled cheese, Scottish breakfast, can not recommend more. The price is slightly on the higher end. But well worth it! I would definitely keep coming back.

Loved this restaurant. Really relaxing decor, friendly staff, wide range of menu. Food quite expensive but delicious. Vegetarian dish wa wonderful- so good to get inventive vegetarian meal served with vegetables instead of the usual risotto/curry/burger. Would definitely recommend. My friend also loved her pork with crackling.

We happened by this little spot without actually knowing what it was. We immediately walked in once we saw the amazing reviews. The halloumi is so good! The waffles so filling! The sunrise plate was incredible! The matcha… so so so good. And I’m a matcha lover so I’m picky!

I highly recommend coming in! The staff is great too.
The best waffles in Edinburgh! Coffee and cappuccino are very good too.
The place isn't very big so be prepared to queue up a bit sometimes, but it's totally worth it!

A Gem..Loved it, freshly cooked food, freshly brewed coffee what more could you want. It was perfect for me. Small but a very calm surrounds and the blues playing in background. Perfect start to the day. We had the waffles and I looked around lots opting for the eggs, but all the plates were clean going back to kitchen. There was.no fuss or flapping. Owner was so friendly and helpful. Definitely not to be missed.

Lovely meal at Monteiths in Edinburgh which was our first visit to the restaurant. Every dish was exceptional and waiting staff took their time with us so a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend the Scallops to start with. Had a bottle of Gavi with the meal, and whilst not cheap certainly wasn’t disappointed. Will definitely be back.

Really good cafe with lots of good food and amazing atmosphere!

The strawberry and bacon with maple syrup waffle is a combo I never thought about trying, but it is so delicious!! The waggle is so fluffy and thick, the bacon is super crispy, can’t stop thinking about them !! The portion is great too 🧇

The breakfast panini is great too, such a good variety on the menu! The cafe is super soft with really chill music and decor. Service is freshly and welcoming!!

Highly recommend this cafe, great location as well.

We were looking for a Sunday Roast for our Spanish relatives to experience and everyone was delighted!

Besides the roast, their haggis went straight into our favourites we’ve ever had in a restaurant. Their pork belly is also an easy win.

We ordered a side of wild mushrooms that could’ve easily been a main dish.

Both the brûlée, and the rum and (lots of) raisin pudding were enjoyable and at the level of the main dishes.

Service was perfectly correct. Can’t wait to be back soon!

The food and drinks were delicious and the staff was really friendly. I went there on a Tuesday morning so its was still quite slow and I had no problem being seated right away and I also did get the my food really fast.
Unfortunately, they did not have bananas for the pancakes that I originally ordered but they were really sorry about it and gave me some other options. The cook also added some extras to mine as an apology.

Totally recommend going there!
we went here for a late brunch. the service was very kind, we got our food fast and it was delicious. a bit pricy i’d say, but for a place in Edinburgh totally normal. i really recommend coming here for a meal!

What a little find this was. The staff were great and the food was fantastic. The beer was amazing after a long day, served in an ice cold glass. Perfect. Just like to say thank you for a lovely evening meal. The haggis I must add was out of this world. I’m a huge foodie so another tattie would’ve been nice, but that’s just me being the skinniest fat man. 😋

Although the staff was friendly, the service was incredibly slow. We had a reservation and still had to wait for more than 10 minutes to get seated, and then waited around 50 minutes to get our food. The food was tasty, but the poached egg was completely overcooked.

The urban angel cafe serves humble classic dishes in an innovative modern style. The presentation is simply beautiful. I loved their breakfast bowls.

It’s dog friendly, with lots of pups around and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It’s everything you want in a cafe. The service is excellent, with friendly and helpful staff. I will definitely be back for more.

Food was okay. Nothing special, but good for the cost. Staff was very casual and bathroom was a little dodgy, but a great little place to grab breakfast!
Coming here for breakfast and I was really satisfied with the food. We ordered the porridge and waffle and both tasted delicious. It's a must try especially for breakfast. No waiting time when we came here.
The coffee was warm. It'd be good if it's hotter.

Excellent food, highly recommended. The beef stew was especially good, the beef was tender and just melted in your mouth! However the service was a bit patchy. Ended up having 3 different servers, and while we were approached several times in quick succession at the start to take our order, later we were basically ignored, so it took a while to order dessert, and get the bill. Bar staff were also slow with our drinks, and one drink we ordered never arrived (but wasn't charged, so we think the server forgot to pass the order on).
Popped in for coffee and some brekkie after a 5 hour trip......more than glad I did! I ordered the 'Avocado Smash' toast with extra bacon and it was ultra yummy. Chilli and lime dressing just added a gorgeous kick and the poached eggs were immense! Highly recommended!! ❤️

Delicious breakfast food and coffee! There was a queue forming when we got here just before opening time at 8am, and it’s no wonder. We ordered the Full Scottish Breakfast and the Waffle, as well as a long black and a cappucino. Food and coffee were both excellent. Service was great too!
The taste if the food and the presentation was perfect! Not the best coffee but still:) the staff was working really hard especially the barista..i could see him running around doin the coffees plus serving cleaning tables! He was doing pretty good job! I tried haggis for the first time in Larder Nd loved it.thank u

Lovely place for having brunch for a reasonable price. The interior is very nice and welcoming although we dined outside. The exterior on the other hand could be improved. Also it's a rather busy area so I would definitely recommend to go inside.

This is a brunch spot that you must visit while in Edinburgh. The restaurant feels cosy and welcoming, almost like a home.

The food is delicious! We had the egg benny with spinach and mushrooms along with zaatar scrambled egg on toast. They were soo good!

My partner had a raw chocolate smoothie which was great. Highly recommend going here if you have time for brunch.

Loved the turmeric latte and eggs florentine, their veggie options are great. Definitely arrive either right when they open on a weekday or make a reservation, this small cozy place gets busy fast and it's worth it!
Firstly, the service was great! All staff members were attentive and lovely!
The cafe is quite modern and does attract a professional clientele. Lots of people working in their laptops etc in the morning (8am). So it is a different atmosphere than I’m used to, but not bad!
The full breakfast was fantastic - fresh and delicious. I also added toast to accompany the meal.
The cafe does have a similar price point to other cafe’s so I was happy with that.
Would definitely be back!

Underwhelming experience if I’m honest. The food was okay, nothing special. My partner had the salmon and mentioned it wasn’t anything to stand out against other restaurants. The fries were fresh and well made, best part of the meal for some reason, every single table had a complementary bread starter irrespective of what they ordered and ours didn’t. Calamari was good but paired with sauce that just didn’t fit.

As usual, what irritates me is when restaurants chuck in an assumed tip and whilst mentioning its discretionary on the bill don’t even ask if we would like to tip. Tips are earned for exemplary service and not matter of fact additions as a give in.Poor ethic and needs changing.

There isn't much not to like! A small but cozy spot to have a coffee or tea in a relaxing atmosphere.☕️

The space to eat in is limited but the restaurant is usually quiet, so my husband and I never had trouble getting a table for two. We ate here twice on our first trip to Edinburgh and now a third time when we came back!

The food and drinks are delicious and the service is always efficient and polite. Worth the visit for a tasty breakfast/brunch.

Nestled on a charming side street off Princess Street, Papii boasts a cozy atmosphere that greets you with the fragrant symphony of coffee and the joyful chorus of breakfast feasting.

Our mocha and iced mocha adventure turned out to be more coffee than cocoa, but we trudged ahead, encouraged by the heft of the servings that could double as dumbbells.

With grand aspirations, we summoned the eggs royale and eggs Benedict with bacon onto our culinary stage. Alas, the hollandaise seemed to have missed its seasoning seminar, leaving us in saucy sadness. The visual allure of the dishes cruelly betrayed our taste buds. Oh, the menu prices, a secret recipe for soaring expectations dashed.

Yet, a bright spot shone through the clouds of under-seasoning—the service! Efficient gentlemen danced around, sprinkling welcoming charm over our misadventures in taste.

In the grand tapestry of experiences, Papii’s threads weave a middling pattern. Three stars sparkle in the review sky, a constellation of potential slightly obscured by seasoning woes. 🌟🌟🌟

This is the place to brunch! This is not boujee brunch, but a lovely place to congregate with friends or family for a laid back Saturday morning.

Atmosphere: Loved the hippie dippy vibe. Again very casual and laid back. It's the place I'd want to go if it was a rainy, chilly Saturday morning.

Food: Nothing about this food is fancy by any means, but this is a great place for porridge, hummus toast, or eggs. Again, very cozy and chill. The porridge with the crumble on top is the best way to go in my opinion. It was so good that 2 other people dining with me ordered it as well. We also did an order of the hummus toast with za'atar, pickled shallots, chickpeas, and parsley. It was the most basic food, but so comforting and each bite was delicious.

Reservations: Make one! If you don't you will be so upset that the wait is longggg.

The reviews are no joke, this place is totally worth every star! If you live in Edinburgh or are just visiting this place is a must!

Impeccable dishes. Can’t fault the food at this restaurant. Everything I ordered was delicious and made using fresh ingredients. The specials of the day were great.
Simple and relax atmosphere. Food is good standard. Bake beans are homemade (and most of the other thing I guess as they have and underground kitchen). Sausage are tasty. The creamy mustard sauce on my wife eggs was delicious.
It's recommended to book a table if you don't want wait outside in the queue! Especially on a weekend.

Great food presentation, however the pancakes were a tad bit dry. Coffees are double shots, which was a bit bitter for my taste. But that’s just my bad for not noticing before I ordered. Waitress said you can ask to have a single shot if you prefer it.
First time in Edinburgh... so many restaurants in the area. Walked by this place and decided to try it... and it was very good. Tried Haggis for the first time and it was delicious... also had the chowder and finished up the meal with a cheese plate.

One of two factors by which I judge a restaurant is 1) the restaurant should be full with people and 2) there should be several items on the menu that I would want. The Pantry satisfies both. On a Tuesdays midday the restaurant was buzzing with activity. The halloumi and braised lamb were outstanding.

Pantry is one brunch place I always recommend to people as they do one of the best waffles I’ve had! I love the chilled vibes and during summer it’s nice to take a book and grab a seat outside while having something. Staff are very friendly and their food is unreal. You know they use quality ingredients when you try the food. I’ll be back soon again.

This is such a nice place. The ambiance is very nice, beautiful classic interior. The staff is very friendly with a great sense of humour. Do make reservations. Food is very very tasty, soup is wonderful, very nice local beer, reasonably prices 3 course lunch at 21£ but the most delicious was the sticky toffee pudding. Highly recommended.
A local spot for local dishes using quality ingredients. You can make a reservation to guarantee a table or wait in line for the little larder that is first come first serve. Baby and pet friendly friendly. The food is good nevertheless the presentation in silver trays could be improved for a better experience.

Lovely place for breakfast. One of the few vendors open before 9am but worth it with excellent service and food served in cute tin boxes.

We were also given plates with the tins. So no need to eat from the box if not wanted.

They don't accept Amex.

Great coffee with alternative milks available.

Lovely place with amazing waffles, probably the best in town. The Cajun Chicken sandwich was also incredible. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely return frequently :)
I went for lunch with 2 friends, everything was delicious. I got the vegetarian all day breakfast, everything was cooked perfectly. The caramel latte I had was lovely and so was the kiwi apple & celery juice! On the pricey side though, £24 for the breakfast, one coffee and one juice. But I can't fault the food or service.

Was lucky to book on the same day for the second seating at 2:30pm however we were 10min late due to traffic from old town. The staff was able to accommodate us despite the kitchen closing close to 3pm. Make sure to be on time or call when you’ll be late for the booking.
The food was great! Very tasty! We ordered the rib eye with frites with the bleu cheese sauce, the cod fish with mashed potatoes, calamari, banoffee pie, and the strawberries with vanilla ice cream. The fries was incredibly crispy, the steak was perfectly cooked. Our server, Sue, was very gracious. She provided all the details of the food choices, and was very attentive to our needs. Fabulous post wedding meal for 4 (tiny wedding!) which did not disappoint, always happy to see a short menu, usually indicates the chef is confident in their abilities, and this proved to be the case. Everyone enjoyed their mains, each one happy they had made the best choice! Many happy eating noises made and numerous 'oh wow' exclamations. Staff and music were cool and laid back, which the cool entrance to the restaurant deserves! Already booked for our anniversary next year!

The BEST eggs Benedict I've ever had. It was quite busy when we arrived around 9:30-10am but luckily, we were happy to sit outside. Eggs Benedict with haggis was truly one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. The lemongrass and ginger tea really hit the spot too. Definitely go but maybe arrive earlier than you think you should.

We had more people than we had booked for in our party and were very quickly accommodated. Beautiful food. Not the hottest, but we were a large group. Very busy and, therefore, noisy, had to shout to be heard across the table. Perfect fast service, however, and very reasonably priced, taking the current climate into consideration. Would definitely go here again.

Absolutely fantastic! Been there for lunch best option to take the 2 or 3 courses. Food was really tasty. Service was fantastic, Lisa our hostes was top notch! Beyond friendly, and always ahead of our needs, checking constantly if everything was alright. The rest of the staff also were very very friendly and happy! ”Fine dining for affordable Prices“ we had a 2 and 3 course lunch that was just around 20£ each. The food is very delicious and well made. Besides that, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, and we felt very welcome. Our hostess Lisa was super friendly, came over every course to ask if everything is alright, but she was also very observant and quick thinking. When I spontaneously started to share my dessert with my partner, she read our minds and came over with a second spoon. That’s what I call a top notch service. Although the dishes were served by different waiters, they alway knew without asking which dish me or my partner would get. That was not only very convenient but also made us feel like ”home“. Best dining experience we had in our vacation. It really made our day.

The roll was hard and not fresh and the tattie scone over cooked and chewy it was quite pricey for below average rolls to be honest.
If you're in the mood for some delicious food and great service, you can't go wrong with The Painted Rooster. I recently visited this lunch place and was blown away by the quality of the food and the attention to detail in its presentation and composition.

From the moment I walked in, the polite and efficient service was evident. My order was taken quickly and my food arrived at my table in no time.

As for the food, I was not disappointed. Each dish was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were simply great. The dishes were presented beautifully, which only added to the overall dining experience.

Overall, I highly recommend The Painted Rooster. Whether you're in the mood for a quick bite or a full meal, this restaurant is sure to satisfy. With its great food, polite service, and fantastic presentation, it's a dining experience you won't forget.
Absolutely outstanding service! Friendly with big smiles, going above and beyond for customer satisfaction.
Fabulous food! Booking table highly recommended as place gets very busy especially at weekend breakfast time.
I highly recommend this place, frankly the staff is a star 🌟 very polite and prompt to serve your orders, the decoration is a plus.
I had a breakfast there with my husband and I ordered a veggie breakfast and the presentation was stunning, apart of this they have a selection of healthy juices such as The Tahiti that I love it with spinach, mango and pineapple I think , but definitely delicious.
So it’s worth it, the best place to have a meal or so in Edinburgh for a decent price.

The best avocado, salmon on toast I have ever had. A simple dish, but not so simple on the taste buds. It wasn't over or under powering it was perfect. The salmon was absolutely divine. Presentation superb. I would of happily paid double! Its a must visit for foodies.
Cozy place with delicious breakfast. Really busy even on a Monday morning! We came as soon as it opened and it filled up within the hour. I ordered the hash which was perfectly seasoned and the quality of the ingredients was apparent. Good coffee too!

I have tried almost every thing on the menu at The Clock Cafe, and it’s always been outstanding. This cafe is a hidden gem! Restaurant class food for very reasonable prices, highly recommended!

Very friendly staff, extremely efficient service even when busy, and great quality food for good prices. I feel so satisfied! Note they have a £10 minimum spend for card payments.

My brother and I had a single Mega breakfast which included original Scottish dishes such as haggis, black pudding and Lorne sausage among other things plus a tea / coffee of choice for only £5.50 altogether (we had two extras that added another 50p each).
Everything was super delicious. We can absolutely recommend this place. We're tourists here, but love to visit places where locals go to. This is definitely one of those places.
