Love the vibes at this Spanish restaurant in Wan Chai! I stopped here to try it out before meeting friends in Central. I took a seat at the bar around 6:30 and got a red wine and a small snack (croquettes). Great happy hour prices for a good range of drinks and food. I enjoyed the service, the bartenders were super friendly. Look forward to returning!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Optimist in Wan Chai, Hong Kong and I must say, it was an awesome experience. The moment I walked in, I was impressed by the awesome ambience and lighting of the restaurant. The rustic decor and cozy lighting created a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for a perfect evening.

The friendly waiters added to the overall experience with their impeccable service. They were attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and willing to accommodate special requests. For instance, I requested a Manhattan cocktail, which wasn't on the menu, and they happily whipped one up for me. It's little gestures like these that truly set The Optimist apart from other restaurants.

As for the food, I ordered the steak and it was cooked to perfection. The sides that accompanied the steak were also delicious and complemented the main dish perfectly.

The seating and dining experience at The Optimist was also top-notch. The restaurant has a lively and energetic vibe that made the evening feel fun and exciting. We celebrated a birthday with friends and had a great time at The Optimist.

Overall, I highly recommend The Optimist to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience in Wan Chai. With its awesome ambience, friendly waiters, perfectly cooked steaks, and fun dining experience, it's truly a gem in Hong Kong's culinary scene. I can't wait to visit again!

It’s my second visit after a few years. This time, we tried their big dishes like 1.2kg Angus beef (tasty) and the suckling pig ( nice but too greasy). Service was good and comfy table for a group of 5.

Although the menu doesn’t have a big variety and not so authentic Spanish, but tastes good.

We were warmly welcomed, with champagne, while waiting for the table as we arrived earlier than the booking time. Food is great, perfect for sharing! Our serve Laziel was extra friendly :) making the dinner extra pleasant

The Wednesday night Oyster free flow is a must try. Value for money. Other food generally up to standard. Great service! Thanks especially to the team serving the 1/F on May 15

I had the most incredible birthday celebration at The Optimist! I couldn't be happier with my choice of venue. The moment I stepped in, the vibrant and lively atmosphere set the perfect vibe for a memorable evening. The waiters were not only attentive and friendly but went above and beyond to make my day truly special. They surprised me with a heartfelt rendition of the birthday song, and it completely made my day.

I was most impressed by the staff there on this visit. They were professional, courteous, and made us feel valued. We had someone with mobility issues in our party and upon entering the hostess immediately suggested we could take the table on the second floor where the restrooms are, and arranged for an elevator for us from the side of the building.

The ambience of the place is ideal for dates and anniversaries. Very relaxed and intimate feel with the lighting on the dimmer side. The staff who oversaw our table was courteous and friendly and answered our questions with grace.

I wanted some tapas. We had a decent size group so we could try out a handful of dishes. There was a decent selection of tapas to choose from, but I'd have liked to see more. Food quality was on par with what I had at similar places (though I can't say there was anything in particular that left me craving for another visit soon). I just wish there were more to pick from in the tapas menu.

It was an enjoyable experience. I'd come back when I want to feel cozy and to share an intimate yet relaxing dinner with that special someone.

I would say it was OK. The main thing is that the prices do not justify the food. It's not THAT exceptional honestly.
The ham was nice. The cheese portion is too small, and the slices too thin. The meat was very very salty. Lobster too small but tasty. The chocolate mousse has no taste and the cheesecake tasted like it was just unfrozen. TLDR : Do not expect something exceptional, it's average.
