If you want to see a different part of Dutch history this is a must see. Although it is a large property you can utilise the free hop on hop off tram to get to the various areas
It stops at a number of platforms and there's no more than a 5 minute wait between trams. There are also plenty of facilities - toilets, restaurants - available as well. Great day out for all ages.
Also die Wäsche gewaschen etc.
Very big museum that has houses, mills, shops transferred from all around of the Netherlands. All houses are carefully restored and interiors are furnished and decorated with the items contemporary to the buildings. I was impressed with still operating windmill that powers saws and produces lumber after 300 years. Ancient laundry that served Amsterdam and Harlem hundreds years ago gives a glimpse in the scalability of the washer machines. Old trams, some of them more than 100 years old run around museum. It's very convenient to travel around by tram because museum covers big territory. Tram depot is must see. Special thanks to all guides and people who work in the museum. You are special!
The museum is popular, especially on the weekend. Parking is very big, but it was almost full by noon on Sunday. There is a playground for children. Sheeps and cows are lovely addition as well as huge fish in the ponds. Blueberry and apple pies in the entrance caffe are delicious. We spent 5 hours in the museum but saw about half of its territory. There will be definitely one more trip.
It's a must see. Very interesting place. Very well maintained. It took us around 3 hours to go around the park. You have the option to walk or else get the tram inside the museum. Coffee, ice cream and other food can be bought. Also noticed that it is dog friendly.
Very good museum giving you an idea of people living in Netherlands centuries ago. Diverse, bright, inviting, educative, interesting for all ages. There's a tram taking you around the territory with a few stops, very handy for elderly people or families with little kids.
It's huge. One day is not enough to experience it all.
Tip: Make use of the train after experiencing each section to save on energy. Pick a few interesting parts within each section if you want to see it all in one day
Tip 2: There are a lot of family oriented activities such as back to past dress-up photography. I enjoyed that.
Tip 3: It's not busy at entry but I always find it handy to buy tickets online.
Tip 4: Wear comfortable footwear. You will walk a lot. Adds to the fun though.
