This facility and the people are amazing! They have every type of exercise equipment and every class you could want, and many you didn't know you wanted! Everyone is kind and friendly, from Blanche, who gives you your tour and knows many patrons by name, to the instructors (shout out to Erin and Michelle) who modify moves for you and are kind and encouraging. The other patrons are friendly. It is a wonderful experience. I can't wait to spend more time there, it is such a pleasure.
So dissatisfied with this YMCA. Has beautiful water slide, rock wall and kids lounge, closed half the time!!! This is such a bait and switch when you sign up for a membership. Seems like they have all these great things for families then they have horrible hours and aren’t open half the time.
Not good for families. Activities that are popular for young children, such as rock climbing and swimming, are very frequently unavailble unless you are in a class. The kids pool is closed more often than not after 5pm. The training pool is only open from 7-8:30. The slide is almost never open. If you are signing up as a family activity, I recommend finding something else.
Have been coming to the Y for several years now. The employees are all wonderful, but the child care has very few hours and difficult to get reservations if not booked well in advance. I can’t use my membership unless childcare is available so this can be frustrating. I don’t understand how the South Y has childcare offered all day Monday-Friday and Saturday mornings while the West Y offers less than half the hours. We pay the same amount, yet get so much less. The first time I called to ask about this I was told it was secondary to Covid. Two years later when I asked I was told they couldn’t find people to work. Now another year has passed and no changes. At a minimum there should be child care in the evenings Monday-Friday. Evening child care 3 days a week just isn’t acceptable. Hours need to be increased or price should be adjusted accordingly.

Good pool, 10 swimming lanes and scoreboard with probably that many again for warmups. Bleacher that seat 450, I think someone said, though they're not very comfortable after an hour... Slide and kid area, but didn't see the kid area very close. A couple of high dives and other diving boards. Nice place.
The facilities are nice and I like that the machines are updated and taken care of. My only complaint is that the weight room upstairs is always crowded and everything is so cram packed in there. I think taking the cardio machines out of the weight machine area and spreading everything out a bit more would make a HUGE difference! I have been in there every day of the week and not once is there a treadmill or Elliptical unavailable in the cardio area that people need to come in the weight room to use a treadmill or elliptical. Everything else has been great though. Definitely crossing my fingers and toes that someday they take the cardio equipment out of there!

Went to use the facilities and told that a section of the pool was closed. After speaking with the lead LG, we were informed that we are supposed to be asked if we wanted that section opened, being as they had the staff. I would recommend to not take the junior guards at their word, and make it clear what you want for your experience there.
Daycare has left my son leave with diaper rash twice. The director seemed unconcerned. They check once an hour to see if they need a diaper change. So be aware for children in diapers.
I absolutely love this place! It's always clean and does not ever "smell" like a gym 😋 I'm trans and I love the fact that they have bathrooms that are private. I have always felt more than welcome by the staff that keep this place alive! There is everything imaginable here! I feel so blessed and grateful that this place exists!!! Much kudos!!!
Solid Y location, steam, sauna, old school locker room. Nice weight room with newer machines.
I came here for a swim meet. It’s very cool how the pool can be a 25 meter pool and a 50 meter pool. The Locke rooms were clean and new. But The building was so hot all they had there to keep us cool we’re old dusty fans. The bleachers were so uncomfortable and a pain on my back. At the time there were many complaints because only swimmers can use the restrooms and Locker rooms (most of the time it’s empty) while spectators have to use a porta potty outside.
My kiddos absolutely love swimming here! Although I do feel as though the little kid pool could be slightly warmer! But we always have a great time regardless!
This place is really nice and the staff very welcoming. My only complaint is when I took my family to swim the water was freezing. I have a six month old so it was a bummer we could only stay for a little due to that which made for an expensive short visit.
This was a pretty nice place for family. Towels (pretty small ones) are provided with entry fee. Our family of four was under $20. Adults have to show an ID and pass a quick background check to get in since it is connected to the YMCA. There are private family bathrooms with showers. The large kiddy pool is behind a childproof gate and has its own designated lifeguard. The water is warm, 18 inches, just deep enough for an average adult to sit comfortably. Also a pretty cool kids' slide and water features. The one big downside was that the large slide was closed.

Don't appreciate being lied to by the female employee who was working on the 2nd floor at closing on Sunday, 3/19/23, who swore up and down that I had to leave the basketball court by 5:45 pm. I reminded her that the Y is open until 6 pm. She insisted it was even posted on the door, I told her that I've been a long-time member and had never heard of that before. So on the way out, I asked her where on the door it was posted, which of course she couldn't find because she made it up and told me I can, "ask the front desk". If the person who works the front desk is fine with cutting corners like her co-worker, I don't care about her opinion either. 6 pm means 6 pm. What are we paying ridiculous membership costs for if we can't use the facility during the already-limited time they are open? Time to cancel my membership and find a new gym.

Not a good place for open swimming, the only pools available for swimming was the kiddie pool or lap swim. We called before hand and they told us it is open swim however when we showed up there was absolutely no where to swim that wasn’t only 3 feet. The army was there using the diving board area pool which we weren’t informed of when we called. The workers didn’t seem interested in helping us as well. Waste of $20, we left in like 5 minutes of being there.
The employees are awesome!

The weight room upstairs has great machines but seems to be packed whenever I go there.

Please find a better solution to the harsh industrial fan in the cardio room downstairs. It’s horrible. When it’s on, I can’t even use any cardio machine in close proximity to it. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s bothered by it.
Being new to the area, finding a quality fitness facility was at the top of my "to do" list. After looking at several health club options, none could come even close to comparing with the West Boise YMCA! From the wonderful staff, wide range of great equipment, incredible facilities for raquet ball, basketball, aerobics, clean spacious locker rooms, and last but not least aquatic center, this facility is top-notch!
My Family and I went here the other day and it was amazing. We had such a good time swimming and the atmosphere and people were so awesome. It was the first time my daughter experienced an actual swimming pool and she had a blast. I haven't seen her so happy. They really took care of us and cant wait to go back. Thank you to the staff for all their help.
I liked their necklace system for keeping track of kids at different swimming levels. The slide was super fast and they even allowed us to ride with our little ones which was great to share that with the kids. Normally the little ones dont get to enjoy riding down water slides and that can be a disappointment. The locker rooms were huge too, which came in handy when everyone left around the same time. The heated salt water pools were one of the best parts. My family will definatly be going back another time.
Nice facility, great pool for lap swimming, nice staff. Maybe it was just timing, but pool was not well maintained (needs sweeping) and it has the feel of a slightly tired facility not staffed well enough to keep on top of maintenance. Lap lanes are a free for all... Discoloration on pool add to this impression, but are separate issue.

I just love the staff here and the instructors of the swim fit classes, there are so many classes to choose from and all different levels of difficulty and time of day to fit anyone's schedule. I would recommend it for the older or out of shape people tring to get back to it that can't do treadmill and harder exercise bikes , Aqua fitness was a good fit for me , thank you YMCA
Our whole family attended the Christmas run. It was well created and attended. They offered good shirts, okay gloves, and passable food. It was very packed. On their route they periodically stopped the runners to let cars through the route, which is not ideal for a timed race or for pacing. It wasn't very expensive and was meant more for fun, so it was all good.
