First time visiting after a recommendation from a family member, we dine out regularly and this is going to be a new firm favourite! The nicest meal we have had out for a long time!

We were made to feel very welcome, food was served piping hot and you could taste the quality of the produce used.

Thank you for a lovely meal and see you soon ☺️

Dropped in for food whilst visiting my son. The food was amazing. The four of us all had different dishes and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was served hot and not to long to wait. The staff were friendly and polite. Will be going again

Arrived for a Saturday evening meal - we didn't book ahead but were able to get a table. Walked in and ordered an Aspalls Cyder on draught, cold, refreshing and crisp.

The Rifleman never fails to provide homely hearty food with a good service, I ordered a Steak and Ale pie which comes with home cooked chips, seasonal veg and a gravy boat. Service ordering at the bar and when the food was brought or taken from the table was exemplary especially considering it was a busy saturday evening when we arrived, we were informed that there was a large party there but they were able to fit us in between courses so we weren't dissapointed.

The pie had tender chunks of steak with a thick gravy where the taste of a quality ale shined through and a pastry that maintained it's structure, gravy had a good consistency and worked well with vegetables and chunky chips alike. The chips bring back memories to the home cooked ones I had in my childhood.

The Rifleman is worth going out of your way for if you're from anywhere in the surrounding areas.

Just been for Bank Holiday Monday lunch. First visit to The Rifleman but definitely won’t be the last!
The place is welcoming, traditional and comfortable. The Owners are really friendly with nothing being too much trouble. You are made to feel like welcome friends immediately.
The food is remarkable. Quality, taste and portion size are excellent (no exaggeration).
I would recommend a visit without hesitation (make sure you take your appetite 😉)
Lovely experience

Delicious roast dinners - they even have gluten free Yorkshire puddings.
7 year old said the dinners are ‘banging’ and finishes the lot!

Didn't eat here but have had the food recommended by several friends. Lovely large Beer Garden, bright clean interior. Both the landlord and landlady were very welcoming and friendly with good sense of humour. We will be visiting again.

Really enjoyed the Sunday lunch today. My husband Mel is a chatterbox and he never spoke a word while eating his meal! The atmosphere was very inviting and was cosy sat by the fire.
Nice selection of vegetables with our meal. We will definitely be back.

Really lovely pub. Has great beer garden with play area which will be great in the summer. Most of us had the burgers which were delicious and had been freshly cooked. Staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely visit again!

We popped in for a quick drink after visiting a local nursery. Its a place i've not been to in 30 years, boxing day beers with my brother's family.
It has changed internally for sure and the beer garden looks more enticing.
There was a crowd of people in both dining halls and a mixture of folks in the bar.
My wife liked its old age charm, tick in the box for me!

Nice old fashioned pub with good selection of beers convenient for The Sugarmill if you want a drink before gig. Unfortunately it closes at 10.30 on a Saturday so couldn't go for one after
Lovely friendly staffs. Really quick service and the food was delicious! So accommodating when we asked for the volume on the tv for football :)

We had a great time once we finally got to game. Bowling was 15 minutes behind but didn't mind the wait.

Only concern is the tablet to put your car registration in to get free parking while bowling wasn't working so worried I'll get a fine when its down the to the tablet in the venue not working!

Took my nephew for the afternoon session. It's a nice place..
But very disappointed with the food and service.
Ordered food at 11.18 didn't arrive till 12.10. When chasing up why it was taking so long, staff made no effort to find out just said "don't know" and walked away.

And when the food arrived. Kids meal nuggets were over done and chips and burgers were cold..
Very poor.
Won't be going again ..

Eating out these days is expensive and often disappointing, in my experience, so we came in with low expectations. However, we had a wonderful meal for two. Compliments to the chef, it felt like the food had been freshly made to a good standard, which is hard to come by these days. Good attention had been paid to flavours, rather than just dowsing everything with salt. We had a starter and a main and were stuffed. The portion sizes were generous, food served lovely & hot, there was a good amount of veg with the dish (which is another thing pubs and restaurants seem to overlook). There was a good amount of extra gravy in the gravy boat for the pie.
Atmosphere was great, service was great. Everywhere felt clean. All things that are important to a nice meal out.
Will recommend and hope to return.

We drove past this place million times and never noticed it untill today. We were really surprised how lovely the place look (despite rundown neighbourhood). The building looks lovely both inside and outside. Jacket potato and the sandwich was really tasty

Lovely food on the 2 courses for £18.95 menu -masses of meat in the chicken and ham pie and very tasty! Half price fizz on a Friday is a great deal! It was quite empty for a Friday lunchtime but it was a very cold day. Nice that we were sitting next to a radiator!

A great place for a bit of fun with friends or family. Clean, bright, modern and very welcoming. The staff are lovely and the bar is fully stocked for all occasions. Open all day, so a great idea for large groups and parties.

Personally we found the cake in particular over priced for what it was at £4.50/4.95 for lemon and blueberry / carrot cake. The experience and taste was fairly average and underwhelming unfortunately. Could possibly be just our cake choice / taste though. The staff very friendly and helpful and the cafe itself was clean.

Good tasty home prepared food.
Only criticism is that I would have liked a lighter bites option of the main meals at lunchtime.
Probably wouldn't return for that reason..

A very nice, tasty home cooked meal was had here tonight. All the food was delicious, the lamb shank was particularly nice. Very decent portion sizes and reasonable pricing. Very nice setting, lovely local village pub feel to the evening. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend visiting here for a relaxed home cooked meal.

Although we live locally we have never tried here, what a mistake on our part. Went today and had two absolutely exceptional meals. Lynda had the lamb and I had the belly pork. Two huge portions arrived and both were cooked to perfection. Service was quick and professional, thank you Rifleman you will definitely be seeing us again !!! Two very happy but full customers.

Rely nice country pub/restaurant.
Service was good, attentive without being over the top.

Food was good.
Had three course between us.
Halloumi fries with chilli jam was delicious to start.
Went for roast beef dinners as main. Pretty good overall with plenty of flavours. Served nice and hot with tasty vegetables. Yorkshire puddings were nice but seemed like they weren't hand made.
Cheesecake desert was good. Coconut ice-cream was delicious but the biscuit base was very thin and soggy. Personal preference is a thicker crunchier biscuit.

Wine choice was very good.

Very reasonably priced!

Will definitely return.

Came here to play 3 games of bowling, ended up coming in at 9 and leaving at 11:40.
My boyfriend and I loved bowling so much that we decided to pay for another 2 games after playing some arcade games for an hour. Amazing place to go and have fun with friends and family, very child friendly. The staff are kind and helpful, 10/10 would recommend

Out favourite pub when we want a feeling of home away from home. Cottage pie is amazing! You can't get wrong whatever you order. The staff is very kind and helpful. Really lovely sitting outside in the sun and super cozy on a cold winter day to just relax and enjoy a lovely meal.

Came here for a few games of bowling. I was very impressed with the refurbished look of the place, which made it look very modern. The price of food and drink was on the high side, and the cash machine was out of order so I was unable to draw out any cash for games of pool but apart from this I had a good experience.
The vegan pie here was incredible! Really impressed with the vegan pie and soup of the day (potato and leek)!

Only downside was that we were hoping to be seated in the actual pub but I think dining takes place in a restaurant extension.

Would easily recommend 😊

After a recommendation to eat here we finally found the time and made a reservation. As it’s a very popular pub / restaurant you must book if you want to eat and drink at peak times.

We found the food to be delightful and especially liked the little plates section which was great for kids or adults who simply didn’t want a big meal.

The drinks selection was also great with a lovely selection of ales.

Overall a lovely experience and meal and am very happy ti recommend.

Absolutely amazing Cafe! I could not applaud the owners enough as they have hit the nail on the head with this one! Wonderful quaint cafe with a fantastic atmosphere and decor to match, the food is amazing (fully recommend egg in the hole) and all the cakes! 5* for quality and the service is top notch aswel with friendly team!, this is a hidden gem of a cafe and I would fully recommend popping in if you are passing! (Or even if your not passing by its worth a trip!) Parking is right outside which makes it even more accessible! I will be returning :)

Booked ahead with the Covid restrictions in place. Got a text message as email confirmation was bouncing, which is great service.

Food was nice and portion sizes were good. Hunters chicken was cooked well and the chips had a great taste to them. It was all done via table service and everyone was very efficient and on the ball. No waiting around for drinks, which can sometimes be an issue with table service.

A nice afternoon in the beer garden, nice weather, with nice food and drink. What more could you ask for on a bank holiday?

Ordered a sausage bap which seemed expensive at £3.40 When it came it was huge with 4 sausages in it. Very nice. And a hot chocolate to go with it. It said to order at the counter but received table service. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.
