Beer is great, friendly and fast service. Love it. The design of the taps is awesome. Definitely bringing the crew here

Great location. Even better vibe. Rick's recommendation of the fish and chips was spot on. Had a great selection of beer and even better selection of whisky. Hope to make it back. Highly recommend you go!

Good food for good price, best value in town. The restaurant had live band performance at night. Good vibe for a drink. The beers were pretty good. Best pub in town!!!

Delicious Scottish fare sampled included Shepherd’s Pie and Haggis ‘n Nips. The collection of whiskeys available to sample was astounding. Staff were very friendly and courteous

Excellent food and great beer selection. Rick did a great job recommending their number one dish which was fish and chips. Make sure to go there hungry because the portions are huge. Definitely worth the money. We ordered fried pickles for appetizer. We will definitely go back next time we’re in the area. We drive from Michigan to go there.

Super friendly staff, great service, nice atmosphere. Good beer.
Food was hyped up to be amazing but it was kind of average and the mashed potatoes under the scotch egg were cold. Hope to give it another try sometime.

Service was friendly and has a home pub welcoming vibe! The food portion was very generous, staff is very knowledgeable on Whiskey (duh!) with a very good selection as well. Would love to return if we come back to this area for visit. We visited on a weekday, so it was easy to find street parking but not sure how weekend would be.

It all started with a trip to Sault Ste. Marie, but then it became obvious "let's go to Canada". After a few tense moments at the border and the kind words and assistance of border agents we made our way into our home and native land.
Impressed by the vast wetlands, the presence of United Steel Workers, and even more so the robust and rich vibes of the city.
Though I will not discount the clear problems the town has, as a resident of the industrial Midwest it was not uncommon to me.
We made our way to this fine establishment on a whim, without any prior knowledge, we entered as it opened at 4 Pm and we're immediately greeted and seated by the one, the only Rick a music head who was more than happy to talk about his travels and his musical interests that meddled well, having the entire establishment to ourselves.
I found myself ordering a Scottish lager as per recommended (Innis and Gunn Lager) it was cold refreshing and one of the first beverages I had ever had at the bar to fill me with a sense of humor and further interest. I proceeded to order a deep fried pickle basket which was richly seasoned and well crisped in the fryer. It was gone almost instantly as per Compatriot B and her beauty.
My fellows ordered water and the rich and barely noticeable Thorn Berry blood orange cider, of which I had a tiny sip that came across to me as only being passingly alcoholic but still impressed.
Finally the main course came with a delectable fish and chip which I'm still salivating at the thought of, and a portion of the Shepards pie which absolutely finished me and had me begging my mother for forgiveness at it's flavor and complexity.
The burger was good, but my Compatriot J had little in the way of words that I had to describe it's flavor.
"The BLT was good" -Compatriot B
I finished all of this flavor off with a Northern Superior 11pm Dark Lager which was indicative of Guinness but with a sharper and lighter taste.
Just as 11 pm was sharp, so was our Bartender Rick who was with the most amount of compassion and kindness gave us a fantastic experience and I only have good things to say about him, I hope to one day come back through (Sundays-Tuesdays) and check back up on him.
I came away with a full belly, a clear head, and a couple band recommendations which I listened to on the way back to my home.
In solidarity all, please give your patronage to this fine establishment and may the Scottish soon find independence.

Great atmosphere, food was incredible, and highly recommend a visit for a pint or a flight.

Great little find in the Sault. Atmosphere, service and whiskey/bourbon/cocktail selection is top notch. Didn't stay to find out, but told the place gets hoppin' from 11pm-2.

The husband and I had dinner here tonight, our very first time.
Great service as soon as we walked in the door.
Absolutely loved the dill Pickle soup!!
We will definitely be coming back.

Great food, healthy portions, reasonably priced, and very friendly service. Nice to find a little taste of Scotland to feed my heritage. Definitely will be back to try more.

Whisky Barrel is a small local establishment, but that doesn't mean it lacks the elements for you to enjoy a delightful time. From the outside, it may not seem like a very attractive place, but once you step inside, you'll realize that you're in a spot with the traditional decor of a Scottish-style bar, with a touch of Canada and the city of Sault Ste Marie.
The food is good, the portions are generous, and the presentation is pleasant. They offer a sufficient variety of dishes, including salads, soups, and some traditional favorites like fish and chips or the classic hamburger with fries.
The drink options are plentiful, not only in terms of whiskey variety but also in the selection of craft beers. If you enjoy bold flavors, you should go for the Stout beers, but if you're looking for something sweeter, they have a great variety of artisanal ciders. And if you're unsure, a flight is your best bet to try a little bit of everything.
On certain occasions, you can even enjoy live music or special celebrations. This place is perfect for a date, a gathering with friends, or a delicious meal after work. Lastly, the prices are fair, and some might even say they are quite competitive.

Loved this little pub! We enjoyed warm seasoned olives, the whiskey tasting flight superb. Haggis was delicious ! Our waitress was so friendly. The chef came out to our table and chatted, we felt very welcome at this cozy spot.
