It seemed like a good place at first. My daughter liked it for a few months but then a lot of problems came up. She started suffering from anxiety to where she would cry and vomit getting ready for school. Turns out part of the cause is a certain band teacher. She wanted to transfer out of one of his classes to take a required class to graduate and it would've helped alleviate some of her anxiety, but he refused to let her. It's my opinion that he bullies the kids. My daughter says there's constant drug use in the bathrooms, 3 kids just overdosed there and it made the local news. My daughter was kicked out because of her anxiety problems and missed too many days. We were not notified that she was no longer enrolled there, she found out by coming to school and a teacher running up to her telling her to leave. She is now trying to be enrolled in virtual school and seeing a therapist. There are good staff members there but then there are the others.
I am in my first year and I love it here! Other than a few teachers I don’t like this place is great! And the electrical problems and general problems with the buildings make it more interesting! We had a huge power outage today and it’s been great! Love it!
My daughter has loved going to NSA. It has been a safe place for her after a traumatic middle school. The counseling staff is amazing!! I do wish that Metro Nashville Public Schools would invest in better facilities for NSA. The current site was a temporary location 20 years ago. Teachers are helpful and will align with needed accommodations if it means it will help a student succeed. This is a safe place.
I met two of your students, Vince & Ivy, while on vacation in Maui. They were two of the most refreshing, bright, amiable students I've ever met! To think Ivy practises the piano 3 hours a day & loves it, & to be enthralled by Vince's creative writing talents are joys that will never be forgotten. Their mom was so proud & I'm sure their dad was too. I wish them the best in their art pursuits & hope to meet again! -Beverly Ann Needham, Simi Valley, California
The buildings are are old but maintained the grounds are nice l. It looks like a good place to learn. Grounds are shared with STEM high school and some other government agencies
After trying several schools in the Metro area, NSA was the only school we found that has a handle on bullying. These guys are top notch! Our daughter hasn’t even seen any bullying! Thank you thank you thank you!
No longer the Greatest School on the Planet. Teachers just don't care anymore. Students used to be so happy going to NSA. What is going on? We no longer support this school.
Have you ever seen the TV show, "Victorious" on Nickelodeon? Well, unfortunately, its not the exact same here, but rather close. This school is a one of a kind Experience. So unique, you will definitely not get it anywhere else.
