I’m not sure the experience could have been any better. Nurse - Emma was amazing, Mr Porteus was amazing and all the staff. The 6’8 anaesthetist was calming, funny and made it feel like a breeze! A special experience.

From initial referral right through to full knee replacement surgery by Mr Porteous & his team, every single member of staff from reception to ward staff were so helpful & professional. Communication throughout was excellent. I cannot find fault with anything or anybody,

UTTERLY DISAPPOINTING OVERALL SERVICE!
Had an MRI in 2021 (which was simply A NIGHTMARE going round circles to book appointment to start with). Ended up with a formal complaint due to extensive delay DUE TO “admin errors” - After a LOOONG and sinply unnecessary correspondence, string arguments and refusals to deal with my complaint, refusing to accept their mistakes, I finally managed to get a response with full acceptance of their mistakes, apologies and £100.00 “gesture of goodwill” (which since, was never paid out, despite replying to them and emailing them a couple of times, calling various dept(BTH calling AND managing to speak to ANYONE is yet another rabbit hole (that will rarely happen!!!! IF IT DOES you end up with London “overflow” team claiming all of their lines are very busy and they will take a message…- that happened EVERY TIME I FANG (15-20 occasions in total!) -
Summarising, they may have shorter waiting times for treatments (IF THEY GET APPOINTMENTS RIGHT that is🤯!)
BUT for the reasons above and the hassle to make contact with ANY departments or people within Spire, I think I’d never use their services.
IF you read this review you are probably here to check their “performance” and reliability— I ASSURE YOU, they are BOTH APPALLING and very overrated OVERALL SERVICE !!
Just seek (private!) treatment abroad - you’ll get exceptional overall service, they are very responsive and hand-on situation. Had several treatments abroad for various minor or major health matters. EVERY SI GLENONE WAS OUTSTANDING. And at least 1/2 of Spire’s Hospitals !!
IF I WERE YOU, I WOULD RETHINK MY OPTIONS !! Spire is just short of a mayhem of a well-advertised Business which appalling reliability and services overall (see proof attached!)

I paid for a health assessment and additional mammogram through my employer. I didn’t realise the mammogram part would be carried out by The Spire. I arrived 30mins before my mammogram, and it took 10 minutes to help point out my policy number to the receptionist, as she had a lot of trouble locating it where it was blatantly spelt out at the top of the referral letter. 40 mins later i had to ask how much longer it would be - only to find out the receptionist hadn’t notified anyone i was even here for my appointment! I was further frustrated a few weeks later to get an invoice in the post for my mammogram, and to have to spend time explaining it was already paid for through my workplace policy with the main health assessment provider. I was assured this would all be sorted. Today i get an email from the healthcare provider who carried out my health assessment, telling me my claim for ‘digestive symptom investigations’ isn’t covered by my one off health assessment, and can i pay The Spire £200. For god’s sake! How can The Spire get their patient admin wrong this many times, and in so many ways! It’s disgusting and i hate to think what complete rubbish is on my record with them, and which treatments/assessments they’ve added on there that i’ve never even had! Do not waste your money with them and avoid at all costs

Great service - was seen by a nurse within 90 mins of creating the appointment on Klinik. Had my prescription 30 mins later.

Absolutely awful administration. I’m sure from other reviews their care can be good but if anything goes wrong be sure you will be the one dealing with the repercussions.
After one failed blood test they called us in for another, and once we got the results there was still things they failed to test. Worst of all they charged for BOTH tests and took the money automatically off our card despite us sending multiple emails and calling up multiple times over two months to try and sort their incredibly stressful (for us) errors.
Now we are out of pocket over £500 for a simple routine blood test that wasn’t even performed correctly. And we still call up to speak to people who have no clue, hand wave us off, talk like this is the first they are hearing of it.
We will be reporting this to the CQC. At least we didn’t use them for anything too serious or too expensive and we definitely won’t be in the future. There are so many other actually good private health care providers.

5 stars GP.
I have not seen any GP practice that is very friendly, thorough and do their best even in stressful and difficult situations. NHS GP appoints are genuinely very behind and slow but especially the receptionists from Birchwood, they are absolutely stars! My family is very grateful to have such a great GP practice!

Brilliant. I have been using this practice for about three months, and I have only positive things to say. I transferred from a practice immediately adjacent, and the difference is amazing.
From the text reminders for appointments all the way through to the consultations ( text, phone, or face to face), they are a great example.

Receptionist, doctor and nurses that I've met so far have all been friendly and polite, not had any issues booking appointments and the appointments that I have attended were all on time

This must be the worst Doctors surgery in Bristol. Unless this is the new face of the NHS.
I had an appendicitis and went to the surgery in pain. This happened at 8am on a Monday morning. There was no doctor available and I was told to go home and make a telephone appointment. I eventually went to A&E.
I have been trying to see a doctor about a separate issue and I have never seen the same doctor twice. The doctors I have seen have had no bedside manners and feel as if though I am wasting their time.
If I could change practice I would!

You will not see a doctor here!!!!!Misdiagnosis of long term health condition. Only ever got 2 phone appointments. How can you diagnose any joint or nerve issues without actually seeing anyone. I waited a year to see a consultant who couldn’t have been more apologetic about the diagnosis given to me and the fact I was essentially told to go away. Now on another waiting list for the correct consultant/department. Never use this surgery!!!

Appoint availability is few and far between, and seeing your personal GP is unlikely. Booking is OK with Klinik, but with no human interaction it can be hard to convey your situation. GPs seem nice and friendly, and investigate the right things according to hospital doctors. However, tests and revisits to discuss test results are extremely spread out, this means weeks waits for initial appointments, then weeks waits for test appointments, then weeks waits for results, then weeks waits to get a GP appointment to discuss results. So, you can be waiting a LONG time for diagnoses and further investigations.

Wasted time and money and incurred stress travelling for a cardiac referral only to be told exactly the same thing as told by the referring doctor and to come back days later for a test that I was led to believe would be carried out on the same day.
Would not recommend this facility if offered it as an option for a referral.

I suffer from acne/rosacea issues and so far my experience Jane Samson has been excellent - she has a professional, comforting manner and all my questions were answered.
I would say it is quite hard to get an appointment, and calling may be the best course of action. Last year I submitted a request via the online form on their website and didnt get a reply, but when I tried again this year I did get a reply - but had to wait for 3-4 months or so for an appointment.

I had appointment with Jane what a lovely , friendly well educated nurse !!!Bravo !!! I’m glad I joined this practice ❤️. Thank you Jane

Had an asthma review with Jane and it was an excellent experience. She listened with interest to my symptoms and how I manage my condition and then made some relevant suggestions and gave me informed guidance. Jane's communication skills and sincere compassion were exemplary.

Receptionists are so rude, such a horrible first impression of Bristol. So condescending, acted like I was inconveniencing them by asking basic questions regarding my medical care. It’s your job 😀 Nurses and doctors are professional and competent but both receptionists I have had experiences with have been terrible. I don’t normally leave reviews but I was shocked by how terrible the receptionists treated me and from other reviews I am not the only one. Don’t recommend at all if you want to be treated with even the slightest bit of respect.

Have just had a minor procedure with Mr James Henderson. Have found the service from start to finish excellent. All the staff from receptionists to nurses were welcoming, friendly and helpful, and the procedure itself was carefully explained and delivered with care. Highly recommend Mr Henderson and the team at the Spire.

It saddens me to see the 2* rating for Montpelier Health Centre, when the Care Quality Commission's assessment is 'Good'. Yes, it's hard to get through to book an appointment & then you're invariably number 20 in the queue but I've had occasion to book appointments at other Bristol Health Centres where, without exception, I've been 3rd in the queue!
At Montpelier, I'm constantly struck by how unfailingly courteous the Reception Staff are, patiently repeating instructions where necessary.
Given that it's a typical inner-city practice with a huge client base with diverse needs, I think GPs & support staff do an amazing job. Last month over 700 appointments weren't kept, which must be so dispiriting.
C'mon people, let's support our local practice & give its hard-pressed staff some encouragement. I give them 5* for continuing to provide excellent, free NHS care under extreme circumstances.

This has been our practice for 17 years and has consistently been excellent. Very caring, thorough and kind. We feel incredibly lucky that The Family Practice is our doctors.

Devastated by the service provided by this practise. Once again the receptionists are absolutely horrible people who don’t know how to talk to others. We get that your job is stressful but how about showing some compassion to people when they’re in a moment of distress? This practise told me to phone them if I was ever feeling suicidal and I just got made to feel stupid and unheard. Don’t bother signing up for this practise, they will never care about you or your life.

Completely ignored me whilst I had a Strep throat A infection for more than two months. My appointment got cancelled for a different reason two times now and now it seems I'm waiting for this appointment more than two months. Some of the receptionist can be condescending. I could go on. I would give zero if I could.

I have been a patient here for over 15 years. Outstanding continuous care. They really do/try their best. Always so helpful, and when there is an issue they are always transparent and solutions focused. I could not rate them highly enough. A true family doctor’s practice.

Phoned 111 over a serious issue with my ear. It took 12 hours for someone to ring me back at 2am from here. Now 9am in the morning no one answers!!!
What's the point?!!!

Lovely practice, great members of staff. Often get back to you on the phone, but quite easy to book appointments

Very professional team. The doctor and nurse who did the surgery were very polite, considerate and professional. I felt safe and respected.

Hate posting negatives about the NHS, but referred by this practice to the BRI, received a text from the Doctor to book an appoint to discuss outcome after attending. Attended appointment told my BRI to book an appointment with Doctor within 7 to 10 days. Attempted to do so ‘sorry have to ring at 8am and we only book 3 days in advance’ So not reporting a new illness just following on the request by the Practice and BRI. I am Sure it’s procedure, but does not seem like common sense approach to me. Surely, for such requests slots could be made available past 3 days in advance and cancel if there are more urgent cases.

So impressed with everyone at Montpelier Health Centre and have had very positive experiences whether with the navigator doing the initial phone assessment, the reception staff or the medical staff. All communication has been very respectful and they offer excellent patient-centred care.

Awful surgery. I tried to leave 0 stars but unfortunately I can't. You ask for a telephone appointment and a face to face one gets booked without your knowledge. Even getting an appointment at all is a massive ordeal. The clerical staff are dishonest and the doctors are unhelpful. It's almost worth living in a different area of the city in order to avoid having to go here.

Excellent service given the pressure they are clearly under. The reception staff (when you get through) are helpful and well informed. Both GPs I have dealt with over the last couple of years have been very good indeed. Talk through problems sensitively and knowledgeably. Always do what they say they will do.
The only problem I have had recently is when I phone I am no longer given my place in the queue. Waiting for a long time is frustrating, although understandable these days, but now you are not told what you place in the queue is which makes it all the more frustrating.

Often times prescriptions come back with mistakes e.g. items missing, wrong form of meds prescribed...
Or prescription is being rejected without previous notification of medicines review!
No appointments available in recent months.
They tell you to book everything online, but when you login online, it says they don't take more requests.
Inconsistent care - receptionists are hit and miss - sometimes really nice sometimes outright rude. They add unnecessary stress to people with health conditions whi should be taken care of.
GP's are also very hit and miss!
Some doctors just want to check you off their list and move onto the next one.. No F2F apts, they won't even look at you, god forbid you have 2 things ongoing..
They delegate patients to pharmacists and clinicians who cannot prescribe some medication, which again causes delays.. I could write a book about bad experiences I had with them.
Now I had some good experiences with Dr Leeworthy & Maries who always helped as much as they could 👍 but that is if you can get an appointment.
They tell you they will call you between 12pm and 5pm and then they call you once.
If you're working - you're doomed because you can never contact them!!

Dentists here were great but unfortunately this health centre has recently permanently closed so I need to register elsewhere.

Long waiting times to book an appointment, long waiting times once you get there unless you are seeing one of the nurses. Receptionists and nurses are lovely but not so much the GP's. Fortunately, my GP is great, when I can get an appointment with him.

The WORST surgery I have EVER used. Impossible to get an appointment - can't get medication, needed to discuss changing medication with a doctor and couldn't get an appointment. Finally got an appointment weeks away - they send NO text reminders and DID NOT explain this. The next appointment took WEEKS - it's just to discuss medication. They didn't specify it was IN-PERSON - and when I didn't arrive, I sat waiting by my phone in the office, the GP didn't bother to call - even though he must have seen from my notes I was desperate to speak to someone and I had been waiting for over a month at this point. When I spoke to the surgery that day as to why the gp hadn't called; The lady on reception informed me I was expected to book off HALF A DAY from a job to get to these 10-minute appointments. This is post-covid when we had years of phone/video appointments. Absolutely ridiculous. I have never had so many bad experiences at a surgery and I have NO access to care. It is extremely dangerous and I worry for other people in the catchment area who are similarly unable to get care and support. I would give ZERO if I could.

This used to be really good but there seem to be admin issues. Some of my diagnoses and repeat meds have vanished without explanation, presumably due to misunderstanding specialist letters, and since the econsult service ended the alternate version doesn’t seem to work properly.
I’ve also recently submitted requests for sick notes and GP reports via the appropriate admin system, only to receive identical copypasted notes referring me to the same forms again, or asking me to make an appointment (which seems wasteful just for a simple request). Sometimes the replies aren’t even relevant to the question I asked.

Yes, NHS staff shortages and budget cuts have caused problems for clinics like this one. No, they are not why this clinic has one of the lowest ratings in Bristol. The management here is just terribly inefficient and sometimes outright incompetent. They tell you to go to their online booking system for various things but it's useless, you can't do anything there - everything is done by phone. When you finally get through they tell you they'll call you back same day, but they never do. You have to keep calling them and chasing them up, which takes hours. When they finally respond they give you the wrong letter or incorrect advice and you're back at square one. This wastes not just your time, but the clinic's too. If a better system were in place maybe the staff here would have more time to deal with the patients' problems.

I am happy to have been a patient of this practice for 9 years. The doctors are always very professional, only the reception sometimes upset me a little, but now you can feel that the attitude towards patients has improved.

Agree that it can be difficult to get an appointment, but the doctors I've seen have been very good - particularly in the follow-up of my son, who has been experiencing ongoing symptoms after a viral infection last year. They promptly ordered blood tests, and tried him on reflux medications, and the same GP has called us on various occasions to follow-up his progress. I have also had my own symptoms taken seriously, and had the appropriate tests/referral to specialists commissioned

Jo the nurse was absolutely fantastic. Went for travel vaccinations - Jo went through all the advice on which vaccines to get, and general really helpful healthcare advice while abroad. Went through everything clearly and made us feel comfortable to receive the vaccinations.
Didn't push/oversell more treatment than required.

The whole service felt very clinical and lacked empathy and compassion. It wasn't very personal and it felt like I was part of a conveyor belt system. It would have been nice to know the doctor's name and to have a bit more of a introduction from her. This could have been an opportunity to come across as caring and that she wanted to know why I was there. I don't think staff should be wearing masks as they are proven to not do anything and it takes away from that personal, 1 to 1 interaction. It just felt very rushed and lacked intimacy. I paid for a 30 minute appointment but I looked at the clock and I still had 9 minutes left. Why wasn't that time spent getting more information out of me or trying to show care and consideration towards my symptoms and worries. I didn't feel very reassured after that appointment. I don't think I will be recommending a private GP appointment to anyone I know.

I'd give 0 starts if possible. I sent this complaint to the clinic first to see if they could support me, but the manager has ignored me for a month and a half now.
I've been registered with Broadmead Medical Centre since October 2021. I've had some major issues, such as:
1. One sample got lost in reception in early 2022, and it required me to go back to the clinic two more times to do a second sample procedure. The whole treatment had a delay of at least one week due to this problem, all while I was in severe discomfort and pain due to an infection.
2. A second sample got lost in February 2023 because the doctor who ordered it didn't register the request properly and therefore nobody knew where to send the sample. Nobody followed through this issue, and it was me who had to call and ask why I hadn't received any results. Now I've been requested to repeat the sample, but they haven't explained how they'd avoid the same problem again (they still don't know which of their doctors asked for my sample!).
3. On Friday 24th of February, I had a face-to-face appointment for shin injuries. One medication was prescribed, but it didn't go through and the pharmacy never received it. Therefore, I was left without treatment and relied only on paracetamol, even though the doctor suggested I needed extra medication.
4. Nobody has followed up my stomach issues, suspected to be IBD. I did several samples and exams, including an extremely uncomfortable and painful colonoscopy. They requested an extra sample which is the one that got forever lost (point 2 of this list). Hence, I've been left on my own, with persistent stomach issues and no answers despite over a year of pain and procedures. It's not only a waste of my time, but of valuable NHS resources.
I understand the clinic is really busy and issues will occur from time to time. However, for four major problems to happen to the same patient in less than a year, it really is worrisome and extremely frustrating as a patient.

Had some blood taken and the nurse was great

Came here yesterday, managed to get an on the day appointment. I saw Dr Joshi, who was really kind, professional and patient. I felt as though he really listened to my concerns.
Reception team were really nice and managed to get me an appointment very quickly.
Would definitely recommend :)

Not a suitable location for a health centre. The only access for those with impaired mobility is to park on the dual carriageway, thus blocking it.

They are totally unable to keep appointments.
Time and again I've arrived early, and l-o-n-g after the appointment time has passed... had to go to reception to make another appointment... which again they won't keep.
Pure luck if you're seen, more likely you'll be ignored once you've signed in.

This is the best practice that I’ve ever been with by far. Every GP I have ever seen or spoken has been fantastic, incredibly professional and empathetic. I feel like they always really listen to you and are incredibly thorough with any problem no matter what it is. I have always been able to get an one the day appointment if I need one, and most of the reception staff that I have spoken to have been lovely too. You’re all doing such an amazing job, and speaking to people who care makes such a difference when you’re feeling ill and anxious. Thank you. Best wishes, Samantha

This GP has been so insensitive and dismissive towards me while recovering from an injury with an open wound. They were unable to give me any appointments for a month to change my wound dressing, which should have been seen to daily according to the surgeon. the receptionists are incompetent and unable to communicate with their patients, ive turned up to at least 3 appointments and the receptionists have turned me away after changing my appointment and not telling me.

Relatively happy, but some discrepancies with advice and some issues with clinic room. I understand that it is a family home as well as a clinic, but there was clutter everywhere and it did not look like some areas had been cleaned for years. The tools appeared to have been sterilised, but were then laid on a work surface with just a paper towel beneath them. The clinician wore gloves but did not remove them to use ipad, or obtain other kit from the drawers. There was a shared tube of Savlon which she used her finger to extract. This is not good IPC protocol and had obviously been used in the same way for every patient. These are minor, but together draw a picture of a place that isn't necessarily using good practice for infection control and prevention.

Very impressed with the overall experience. Painless procedure which has otherwise been painful elsewhere. Very knowledgeable, friendly team with good pricing. Highly recommended*****

If you sign up for this GP, you will lose all faith in the NHS. Better off going to A&E than making an appointment. Everytime I call i'm a minimum of 40 in the queue, doesn't matter if it's 9AM or 10.30.
Might aswell just close this GP down because they clearly aren't capable of handling the catchment area they provide for.

Went to the surgery today to see the nurse. A nurse called Catherine ( or Katherine) came to the waiting room and showed me to the room. She was very friendly, understanding and took the time to listen. She was very professional. If there were more people like her people would find it easier to go to appointments.. She is a very kind caring lady. Thank you.

Well, here goes:
I had trouble with my eyes, rang the surgery, got through eventually after ringing all morning.
Spoke to the person on the other end. Told her I thought I might have scratched my eye-ball.
She said: go to your local Pharmacy, they will look in your eye and see if you need to come here to the surgery. OK I said, quite often pharmacy can be helpful. However, pharmacy had foreign pharmacists who had no idea what I was talking about. Said, they could not help and to go to Specsavers around the corner NOW… I know this is not going to work, but I go to Specsavers as advised, they have no idea why I think they would examine my eye there and then, but could fit me in in 4 weeks time.
I said ‘thank you very much’ and left.
Long and short of this is… I took myself to The Eye Hospital, where after not too long a wait, I was given a thorough eye examination and the problem identified and I was given eye drops.
I left a happier person than when I went in.
So, in my experience of local surgeries, unless you are very bloody lucky, go straight to the top hospitals.
Eye, BRI. Walk-in Centres. (Twice I have had to do this). You may take a fair time getting seen but you will get best treatment.
I can’t see the point of having local surgeries at all. You are on their list and they get paid for you, but you do not get the treatment you pay for there.
Never used to be like this. 😕

Great experience. Helpful and efficient team. I went to see Dr Rhodri Martin and can highly recommend him.

When I arrived to the Pharmacy, all the staff was chatting, when one of the satff saw me she came to help me. I explained I needed to collect some blood, she replyed I had to book on the phone. But she wasn' t friendly or nice. Not even a smile.
You should teain your staff to smile and be nice to your clients...after all we are the ones who pay you your wages. Probably you should have a different attitude. Won' t go back anymore.
And the managers should all have a training in clients service. Thank you.

Had an utterly fantastic experience here today. GP was extremely thorough, kind and professional. He took his time time to listen and I didn't feel rushed.
I was also treated very well by all members of staff. First time I've used services of Bupa but would thoroughly recommend.

Bridge view medical really might as well just close down. You cannot get through to anyone by phone and are not allowed to go to the actual surgery to try to get an appointment either.
I received a text message saying to book a gp appointment to review my regular prescription request. Do you think I can get through? No, not a chance. I've tried their 'e-consult service' they keep pushing people to, and get no response from that either, even when I chase it up.
Do we actually have any doctors in Bedminster????
It is actually tempting to sell our house and move to a different part of Bristol just so we can actually see a doctor when we get asked too.
Bloody useless.

I've lived quite the unhealthy life over the past 1-2 years, and had a slight physical niggle I was worried about. Decided given my age I should have someone check me over. Accidentally stumbled across the BUPA Be.Ahead assessment online, and managed to quickly book myself into it at Bristol. Didn't even know BUPA were there, despite living in the city 10 years.
The various assessments, blood tests, ECGs, etc. were conducted in an extremely professional and personable manner by JH. Nothing was too much trouble: JH is clearly someone who understands health and fitness and can explain things extremely well.
I then had a very long session with Dr DB, a combination of a review of the tests as well as a thorough physical examination, not only related to the specific problem which kicked off my medical paranoia.
I'm not (yet) so decrepit that I felt I needed Dr DB to refer me for any further investigation (the offers were there and discussed thoroughly), but felt fully confident that if I change my mind in the coming weeks or months, he will do that for me.
If you are able to afford to be assessed privately, if you have any health concerns, and don't particularly want to burden the NHS at this 'difficult' time, don't hesitate to book yourself in. I would recommend this assessment, at this particular venue (Bristol), to friends and family, without hesitation.
And the receptionist was lovely too.

The best GP I've ever been registered with. Don't be fooled by the location - every appointment has been booked quickly and easily, and the staff on site have been so helpful. A special mention to Jayne the nurse who is fantastic. My flatmate has also registered and had the same experience, 5* all around.

Welcome. I have an appointment with you. I would have needed a Yellow Fever vaccine for travel. I left, greeted by a sullen, rude lady. He said he should be vaccinated 10 days before traveling. Which is not good! I ask to do a visa ??? It is not possible to obtain a Visa in 10 days. His attitude was inappropriate! Then I’m going somewhere else that doesn’t make them that way to man. Thank you for this bad service!

Learn about the patient experience. Learn about proper training for telemedicine visits. Yikes. Maybe don't ask the patient mid conversation what they thought the symptoms could be leading to. Oh. My. Goodness.

The experience with the doctor was fantastic. Extremely helpful and I'm already much better.
The pharmacy though doesn't fill me with confidence... The staff didn't wear masks and I am not quite sure how strict the cleaning process of the instruments would be...
But the medicspot service was amazing.

Extremely friendly Nurses and Doctors, gave me plenty of time to talk about what was wrong but were also extremely social and made me feel very welcome. Gave me appointments for the next morning before work which was ideal, and at that time in the morning there are very few people during the week and appointments seem to run on time / a few minutes early if you're checked in.

hi had an assessment yesterday I cant get my results online for some reason . also had a urine dipstick which they said was clear got home to find out otherwise when I did it myself? but the staff I thought were very helpful .

I had an initial assessment to treat my varicose veins here around a year ago. I had self-diagnosed the veins as being quite minor, so I did not think I would need laser ablation as opposed to the much cheaper sclerotherapy (foam).
I am a medical scientist by training but not clinically qualified, so while I was disappointed when I had my assessment and was told that my veins were not minor but could instead only be treated with EVLA (laser ablation), I accepted this as the expert opinion. I only thought I had varicose veins on one leg but I was told at the consultation that I had them on both. This was surprising because what were identified as varicose veins are veins I have had visible since childhood. The difference in cost between having two vs one legs treated is considerable, and EVLA is also much more expensive and invasive and takes longer to recover than foam treatment from as it is a larger procedure. For this, reason I decided to think about it for a while before booking.
Some months later I spoke with a radiologist who put me in touch with a world-leading clinical scientist and interventional radiologist who works in varicose veins. This was not in the UK. He saw me for less than an hour, during which time he assessed and treated my veins.
The radiologist was shocked and, I quote, "disgusted" that I had been offered EVLA, and he had concerns that I only had varicose veins on my right leg so he could not think what they would have done to my left leg where I have healthy veins close to skin surface - but these are not varicose. I understood that treating with EVLA could have been dangerous. He compared what I had been offered to offering gastric by-pass to someone with a BMI of 25.
The radiologist considered my varicose veins minor and thought I was an ideal candidate for foam treatment. He did not think I would have had any additional benefit from ablation, and confirmed this by ultrasound. I have since made full recovery and the veins have resolved. To be clear - this was not a radiologist at this clinic and the radiologist was unimpressed by what The Private Clinic had offered me. He said if it had been in the country I was treated at, he would have personally rung the radiologist at the clinic to discuss this.
It worries me what could have happened had I had my treatment here. I would have been exposed to unnecessary risk and personal financial cost, and they may have ablated a healthy vein. Do your research and ask for other opinions. Be very careful with this clinic.
Edit: the clinic never replied to me with an apology or an explanation. That speaks volumes to me.

Had Juvederm in my lips by the lovely Lesley Dean. This my first time so was nervous but she put me so at ease with information and her caring nature. She was so patient with me. She talked to me about my expectations prior to treatment and made the shape suit my face shape and taking into consideration factors like my overbite etc. She consulted with me throughout treatment about the look I wanted and my personal preference. I have to say, the results were EVEN better than I had hoped for. Thank you SO much, Lesley. I will be back for my top up!
Reception staff were also very friendly and welcoming.

An absolutely wonderful service. See a Gp face to face within minutes rather than waiting 3 to 5 weeks for an appointment. Make an online booking or just turn up at our pharmacy and you can be seen within minutes by friendly professional Gps online face to face who are able to perform many clinical checks on you with the hardware station at the pharmacy...come and experience a great new private service. Appointments are not restricted to 10 minutes as at your Gp practice. Private confidential very fast and very efficient way of dealing with health issues that cannot wait
5 stars all the way. Very impressive

I can not put into words how amazing the whole team is here in Bristol. I had my first consultation with Chantelle who took me through the procedure details and what I could expect to pay. This was followed up by an appointment with my surgeon Mr Ahmed who gave me a physical examination and then gave me ALL options available to achieve what I wanted. I cant stress enough how many surgeons will only tell you what they want to do and dont give you a full picture. Here it isn't sugar coated, no false promises or ideas of results you just can not achieve! Mr Ahmed gave me diagrams, options and a realistic outcome if I decided to go through with the operation. You are then given everything to take away and given time to think through everything before making any financial deposit/commitment. No hard sale, no pushing you into anything intact the reverse they want you fully committed with no pressure. Fantastic approach!!!!
I wanted to go ahead and then I had a choice of dates they could carry out my surgery. Once booked in I had to have bloods taken and as a needle phobic I knew this wouldn't be pretty so I have to offer the biggest thank you to the nurses that did this for me - amazing just absolutely fantastic, patient, kind and gentle really good at keeping me calm and not feel like a freak when I got panicked. Because of my phobia it was arranged to have my operation with extra nursing staff to care for me at no extra cost.
The operation was amazing - the staff were able to put me at ease and made me feel like I had gone in for more of a treatment than a major operation. Aftercare was second to none and I had two nurses with me all night long. Could not fault any of it, my pain levels were managed so well and the food in hospital was divine!
Aftercare has been out of this world, I had a fall after my operation and caused an internal bleed which A&E offered to drain however my surgeon wanted to ensure I was looked after so it was arranged to go back in and see The Private clinic for a further procedure again at no extra charge. I had my surgeon, anithetist, two theatre nurses and an aftercare nurse all to myself all morning at no charge fixing something I had done to myself! FOC I dont know anywhere else that would do that??
Having stitches out, ordering free binders, bras, garments has been no problem, calling up to ask questions they have been so helpful. The nurses each called me to check on me.
I have to say a massive thank you to Katie, Brenda and Selina who have just made the whole experience so wonderful! I can promise you wont get care like this anywhere else!
*Procedure - fleur de lis tummy tuck and a full blood lift/reduction! It looks bloody amazing!!!!!!!!
Operation date: 15/4/19

Very impressed with my experience of The Private Clinic, compared to other clinics I have visited. The Surgeon, Dr Mouzakis was most helpful in explaining the principles of having a FUE hair transplant. Very informative and honest. The reception team were very accommodating and I felt welcome, Chantelle explained the pricing and aftercare extremely well. And was in no way 'pushy' unlike other Sales people I have dealt with, I felt assured she had my best interests at heart and have since ahd many discussions with Chantelle in regard to booking my surgery.

After reading Dr Bruno Amendola's comments in the paper last year I have been struggling with building up the courage to speak to someone regarding my 'problem'. But after attending the Bristol Clinic and meeting with the Patient Coordinator, Chan it gave me the confidence to go ahead with my treatment without embarrassment, my life has never been better and I am so glad I decided to make this change.

I haven't had much luck with finding a good clinic for laser hair removal until I was recommended here by a friend. The service is so professional and the staff are so friendly. I am already seeing great results after just 3 sessions. Very pleased :)

I completely agree with the review below. Absolute time waster. I arranged my work schedule around the first appointment. Popped up to the clinic on time. 1 min in the consultation telling me that the nurse cannot do the procedure and I had to book for another specialist. 15 March agreed provisionally. So arranged my work schedule around and phoned back to confirm the appointment. Receptionist (very unsupportive and interrupted a few time while I was talking) told me the appointment was gone. Don't understand how patients can entrust themselves to the clinic. So glad that I didn't have procedure with them.

Bupa are used for my company’s occupational health services. I had a assessment with Dr Stephen Szweda and all I can say it that the entire session exceeded my expectations. Dr Szweda is clearly a very experienced doctor, who was very professional, empathetic and truly demonstrated a care for my needs and that of the organisation. I can wholeheartedly recommend Bupa Occupational Health services on the back of this session with Dr Szweda. Thank you for a pleasent experience Dr Szweda.

I had a great experience at the Private Clinic. All the staff I dealt with were warm, friendly and professional. I had a minor procedure dine quickly and have had two great follow up appointments. I couldn't recommend more using The Private Clinic.
