The best German beer restaurant on Manhattan!
I’ve been to Biergartens in Europe and this place has the same atmosphere. The food is delicious and the portions are big enough.
A 100% recommendation.

We were here more than five times already. This is our favourite place to eat on Manhattan for sure. Good beer, good food, excellent service. Love it.

The Reichenbach Hall provides an authentic German beer hall experience right in the heart of NYC! The food was typical of what you would order and it was pretty good. It is one of the best places to go with a group of friends and have the typical one liter beer (they also have half liter options). I would definitely visit again with a group of friends. I ordered the Bratwurst platter with warm sauerkraut potatoes and mustard. My German colleague gave the platter a seal of approval. The beer selection is great and they even have German Glühwein (mulled wine). Ein Maß bitte!

I wish I could rate this place higher as I do think it is a good place to eat and drink, a real slice of West Germany here in NYC. However, I would advise you to proceed with care with regards to your cheque. Pay as you go is recommended as our bill for a group of 3 had extra beers and we were charged for full plates of food despite only ordering a-la-carte meat (as we wanted to try the different sausage flavours). Had we been informed that we would be charged for the entire plate despite only asking for the sausage we would have eaten elsewhere, however this only became apparent when we went to check out our bill. Despite our best efforts to come to a mediation with the duty manager all he was able to offer was apologies that his staff had made errors and offer free drinks - not what we wanted at the end of our early evening meal - more appropriate action would have been to modify the bill to reflect what we had consumed however the manager said this wasn’t possible. Disappointing considering we’ve been visiting this establishment repeatably for 6 years. Don’t let this put you off, the beer and sausage here is great, just beware of poor staff training and inadequate management ✌️ (3x pax had a total bill of $600 for 3 plates of sausages and some beers)

Great place for German cuisine and beer lovers with tasty food, decent portions, and good service. Everything I’ve tried was tasty. Especially Beef Sliders were absolutely amazing, juicy, and flavorful.
I also had Wurst Sampler Platter which came with 5 different sausages, potato, cabbage, and sauerkraut and it was great. Bierhaus Pretzel was very soft, warm, and freshly baked. Haus Chicken Wings were tender but a bit spicy for me.
They have screens to watch sports games. Also a live band or some German music playing background.

We eat here every visit. This trip our obsession was the Jager Schnitzel, chicken. Enough to share and too much if you start with the fantastic Currywurst. The beers and ciders are excellent. The servers are kind and patient with demanding tourists. It’s a great place to
people watch, drink a few and eat well. We’ll be back

The atmosphere is great it really reminded us of a German festival. So please come here to enjoy the beer and the fun and the culture. Stick with the sausage, kraut, and potato salad. Also, the wurstplatte was pretty good. Stay away from the schnitzel if you are looking for a German pan-fried schnitzel.
FOOD POISONING!!!! Ate on 9/29 and developed food poisoning from the meal I had. I arrived around 2:30pm and ordered the pretzel, wurst platter and the gurkensalat with my wife. We believe it may have been the potato salad on the wurst platter which I only ate and began to feel sick 2 hours later. I had vomiting and diarrhea during the night following the meal. Stomach pain that was persistent. Nothing else was eaten that day aside from this food.

I spent between drinks and the meal roughly $240 for 2 people which is an astronomical price to pay to get sick!

(The owner in their reply claims I drank too much which is NOT true. The meal cost $190 and I gave a 20% tip. This place is totally expensive!!! $14 for a shot of schnapps, mixed drinks costing $15-$18 a drink. I had 3 drinks and so did my wife. She did not eat the potato salad and was fine. I know what FOOD POISONING is and it definitely was that. Their attempt to pin my illness on myself is baseless.)

The service was lousy. Waitress was no where to be found most of the time and she lacked confidence in the food selection. Atmosphere was fine but the menu is also lacking the basic Oktoberfest items.
Nice var good service. We werer.guest at the hotel and had really no clear. dea of the closing time..however, 22.30.all Doors to the outside was opened - really cold- with the statement "we are closed" oh well - way too cold to stay anyway.
Enjoy.

Amazing spot! So cozy, especially in the fall. Go for trivia on Mondays- it's about 2.5 hours, and has great prizes. We placed third and got a giant pretzel 🥨
I have not been here in person, but I’ve ordered delivery from here. I placed an online order for a case of beer, & they didn’t have a full case of what I was looking for, they gave me what they had of the beer I specified & then a bunch of additional cans to make up for it, with hand picked recommendations & a hand written note. The hand written note got me. In the age of technology, this personalized service doesn’t exist anymore. I don’t even drink beer but I will absolutely be sending clients here in the future. Thanks again Chris for taking care of us!
I loved the atmosphere of the Heidelberg Restaurant. Not brightly and a variety of old paintings and pictures, wooden floors make this a wonderful 80+ year old restaurant. The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful.
There is a large menu of German dishes, beers, and wines. We particularly enjoyed the sausage platter for one and beef goulash. The apple strudel and black forest cake are excellent dessert choices
The beer was good, but the burger had no taste. The calories intake was not worth it...

Also, the glass dividers in the outdoors table is shame. The idea of large table is for people to celebrate together. Why separate them with glass dividers.
Absolutely loved this place! One of the best German restaurant in Manhattan imho. Food and drinks, service, personal, atmosphere - everything is outstanding. We’ve ordered wheel of the camembert that was a great starter. Sausage platter and jagerschnitzel was delicious! But the nicest surprise was at the end. We’ve been suggested to try Black Haus schnapse with cherry chocolate cake. This was just WOW! This is a perfect combo. I’ve never thought that dessert can be so “die for…”! So grateful to the person who recommended it!

A wonderful place to host a large group of friends with no pretentious drink minimums or room rental fees. The manager, I’m blanking on her name, was wonderful—kind, thoughtful and attentive! We had a fantastic experience hosting my husband’s birthday party here and would highly recommend to anyone!
Drinks are bit pricey but it’s NY I get it . The frose was really good. We had the chicken nachos which were decent. The fried ice cream for dessert was a great way to end the night.

I ventured to this establishment for a leisurely Sunday brunch, finding it to be pleasantly uncrowded. However, the limited waitstaff did necessitate a brief wait for seating, and the dish preparation took longer than anticipated.

Opting for the crispy pork knuckle, I was met with an overall delightful culinary experience. The pork skin showcased an exceptional crispness, harmoniously complementing the robust flavors of the meat, despite its generous thickness. The side sauerkraut, in my humble gastronomic opinion, was executed to perfection, boasting a delightful interplay of sweetness and tanginess that invigorated the palate.

The sweet and savory glaze, a masterful component, artfully balanced the dish's inherent richness. Regrettably, the portion of this delectable glaze proved rather diminutive, starkly contrasting with its portrayal on the menu. Upon inquiry, I learned that the establishment produces a limited quantity of this glaze to accompany each knuckle daily, with no option for additional purchase. It left me yearning for a more generous serving, as it plays a pivotal role in offsetting the pork's inherent richness.

Nonetheless, my overall experience was agreeable, further heightened by the charming German-themed decor that enveloped the ambiance.
Our server was great - but the cook ???!!! Took 35 minutes for 2 knackwurst. We almost finished our 1/2 liter beer before the wurst came out from the kitchen and we were not drinking fast. A party of 4 got their full meals before I got 2 hot dogs basically. This place is very expensive so be prepared for that !!!

i ordered their sausage platter for one which comes with three sausages: bratwurst, bauerwurst , and weisswirst. the dish also comes with potato salad, cabbage, and sauerkraut. i also ordered their gebackener camembert (breaded camembert cheese with sliced pear and cranberry sauce). i must begin by saying i’ve never been to a german restaurant and had simply stumbled upon this gem with a friend. everything tasted amazing. there is such a unique balance of flavors to every dish. the cheese was fragrant and delicious (not overly strong but a light creamy, milky flavor) that paired perfectly with the pear and cranberry giving the dish a creamy and sweet flavor profile. the sausages were all really good and paired perfectly with their potato salad, cabbage, and sauerkraut. each of the three sides gives a slightly different addition of flavor (salty, sweet, and sour/tartness). overall, i’d recommend coming here if you’re in the mood for german food (note: the meal overall was very filling and hearty)!

Randomly ended up here for a Sunday lunch and we were one of just two parties in the space - so you definitely didn’t get the typical beer house atmosphere and for some reason service was still kind of slow despite how empty it was. That said, the food was a pleasant surprise! Hard to do pretzel and bratwurst wrong (both tasty) but I was most surprised by the crispy pork knuckle - flavorful, not too fatty, tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. Pairs super well with the side sauerkraut and pickled onions! Note the restaurant is on the second floor up a set of steep stairs (not sure if there was an elevator).
Food was really good. As a former waiter in Germany I can attest to it tasting authentic from the Potato Pancakes, the Jaeger Schnitzel, to the Schwartzwalder Kirsche Torte. Ciara as a server was very friendly and helpful.

consider this 0 stars. we were removed due to what i can only assume was discrimination. the hostess on 8/4/23 (who refused to share her name) had a prejudice — if she doesn’t have one against you then you may have a decent time drinking overpriced beer!

Amazing German spot in midtown Manhattan.!!
It is the largest indoors Biergarten in NYC. You can find a great variety of German beer and delicious food. Service is outstanding. Jack will suggest exactly the beer that you are looking for. He is really knowledgeable and fun. The whole team is really nice and welcoming, I came back 2 times during my visit to NYC. I definitely recommend this place to beer lovers and can't wait to visit them on Oktoberfest. Thank you so much for everything, Reichenbach team. See you soon.

Excellent place to grab some really tasty German food and to also get unique and hard to find German beers. My friend got a Hefe Weizen beer which was really tasty and I got some cherry liquor which was also delicious. The food also is super good. I had the pretzel (4/5) and the bratwurst and curry (5/5). The fries were cooked to perfection and the bratwurst was tender and packed full of flavor. The curry was also complex and added super well to the dish.

I have been to this place 3 times and it’s one of my favorite in the city. I went last summer, during the fall, and yesterday. It has become a place of sentimental value to me. My husband and I got married on Friday so we went here for our first date as a married couple. The food is delicious. Best fish tacos ever and the guacamole makes you want seconds from how fresh it is. The atmosphere is so colorful and upbeat. Instantly puts you in a bubbly mood. The staff always exceeds my expectations by their excellent friendly service. My husband is already talking about going back. Definitely recommend going.

Love this place! I just went there tonight and the service was great even though I came in so late, and the food was amazing and had huge portions yum. Felt bad I couldn’t finish it but takeout boxes were made for a reason. Would come here again, and the atmosphere is great too.

Going during lunch time doesn't do it justice. Looking forward to trying it at night. Only one server during lunch which slows everything down. Great beer and good food. I don't think you can mess up German food too much. I would patronize again. Convenient location was a plus. Good for large groups.
Margaritas were delicious!
Sat at their outdoor heated biergarden. Server was incredibly sweet and attentive. The food was also pretty good & service was super fast! Went for an early dinner; would totally love to return for brunch.

Wow, this place is fantastisch! I hadn't even heard of it and we happened upon it for a quick dinner before a Yankees game. Everything is on the second floor, so you'll need to walk up a flight of stairs to be greeted by the Dirndl-clad hostess. The whole place is basically a big Bierhall with German-style seating (i.e. long wooden tables with benches) and a ton of themed decor. Even the music is what true German Bierhalls play, so they knew their stuff. There's an outdoor balcony overlooking 3rd avenue which is very neat and a corner for bands when they have live music, which I believe happens every week! We ordered a pretzel to start and a couple of schnitzels for entrees. The service was all extremely friendly and fast and the food was of course delicious, so I was sad we didn't have time for dessert before rushing off for the game. I can't wait to come back here with a group of friends, so be sure to look up if you ever pass by on 3rd and you just might see me waving from the balcony!

This one makes me sad. I was looking forward to having German food in the north but this did not match up. Food is mediocre. I walked in and thought it was a cute place. It was a little colder than what it should've been on a rainy/windy day or maybe it was bc they had the back door wide open for smokers or whatever. The server came by and I wasn't ready, it didn't take long before I was. 10/15 mins later, he comes back smelling like cigarettes (which I'm allergic to) so you know he didn't wash his hands. He threw the alcohol menu in my face and I said no..he still continues to push it after i tolld him I don't drink. I order.. food comes and it's ok... esp if servers keep trying to clear your table while you're still there and working on it. There was no way of finishing the meal with the bad service. I asked for a Togo container. Packed up.. server comes back and tries to push the desserts and I said no..he has the menu about 1.5/2 inches away from my face and apparently didn't like getting told "no". I understand upsetting bht, don't be pushy about it. He then brings the payment machine and I haven't even finished putting the food on the container. I asked "I pay now?" With a super confused look and he said said "yes". 😐 I didn't leave a tip.. I grabbed my jacket and get 1 arm in before he comes back and says "you didn't leave me a tip?" And I said "no"
He proceeds to ask me why.. I told him I didn't feel comfortable telling him. He goes tell front of house & he comes back which I tell him all of this. He offers a lava cake (I don't eat chocolate) and then he offered something else. I really didn't want it but he insisted. This dessert was also over soggy. I dont recommend it.

TL;DR: A lively atmosphere and good food, beer, and mixed drinks.

My companion and I chose this place to be our St. Patty’s Day hangout. We arrived before the late afternoon crowd and started with a couple of grapefruit Hefeweizens. They were a bit sweeter and less carbonated than versions I’ve had prior. We had one other beer, a stout, that was really good.

For food, we started with a big pretzel that was served with cheese and a mustard dip. The pretzel was soft and warm with the right amount of salt.

I selected the barbecue wings and Brussels sprouts from the appetizer menu and made them my entree. The Brussels were great and the wings were good too. I picked barbecue, but based on the bartender/server’s recommendation I’d get the buffalo wings next time.

I heard that the peach cocktail was very good, so I’ll have to try their mixed drinks on my next visit. Prices for cocktails averaged $15, which isn’t too bad and the drinks are a decent size.
You want to travel to Germany but you can’t? Just have a dinner here !

Exterior, interior, and even staffs’ outfits, everything was very authentic (I’ve never visited Germany, sorry if you guys disagree with me ;)

Nevertheless, sausage was awesome. We ordered creamed spinach on the side and it was a good match with sausage. As many people already know, schnitzel was also good. I personally loved the big chunk of mushrooms in the cream sauce.

I am not a big fan of a beer, so the server recommended me a hot wine and hot apple cider. Both were tasty and perfect for cold weather, if you are not a beer fan just like me, try the wine or any drinks that staffs recommend. I think all of the staffs know the menus well, and plus they are super friendly.

Love the fact that this place is in my neighborhood and definitely my go-to place !
