As a livestreamer, my life has been enriched by Central. I've learned about holidays, and special days and events. I joined the neighborhood and it's great. Central Synagogue has given me the religious foundation I've needed for a long time. I've never met any of the Rabbis, yet I feel a connection to them. I've been livestreaming and participating in Friday night and Saturday services since 2018.
I attended a Friday evening Shabbat service. Rabbi Buchdahl is inspirational and warmly welcoming. There was a Yahrzeit that evening for a dear friend among others who passed away. Security was extremely tight due to recent events in Israel and Gaza, but this did not dampen the warmth of the service. I hope to accompany the friend who invited me again. We were fortunate to find seats. There was standing room only.

Although I am out of New York, I feel connected!
I have not been able to give as I would like for financial reasons but I still feel the community.
Watched the high holidays virtually (from Boston area) and was tremendously impressed at the quality of the clergy and all staff who contributed to the beauty of the services. We hope to travel to NYC sometime this fall for Shabbat services in person!

I just finished watching the Kol Nidre live stream service. It was outstanding! I felt as if I were there in person. Undoubtedly the best I’ve ever attended. I feel blessed to be able to join your virtual congregation.

Attending Shabbat services for over 16 years enjoying every service in the gorgeous sanctuary. The clergy are friendly to all. If it’s your first time the clergy welcomes you. The cantors voices are magnificent. Music is a potent part of praying enhanced with musical instruments. The melodies are familiar around the world, but unannounced a song or prayer is refreshed with a new melody and/or arrangement. The cantors seem to know when to introduce an original composition the congregants are always eager to learn. Services are broadcast live on JBS TV, and on Facebook and YouTube. The sermons are from the biblical text, the weekly Torah portion, and have a contemporary message if possible.
The rabbi is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. Hope we can join them again in the future.
One of the old Reform NY Synagogues.
Very beautiful and yet understated.
Very welcoming.
We had a tour with a lot of the historical background.
Looks like a wonderful place to do Kabalat Shabat or join a Shabat service.
They also stream services.

A beautiful shul. Rabbi Chezky Wolff and Rebbetzin Perry Wolff are so friendly and welcoming to everyone they meet. They welcomed me, a total stranger, into the shul with open arms. Great Shabbat lunch weekly after services with lots of families with various levels of religious observance, sending their kids to the nursery during the day and coming to Shabbat on the weekends. You get the best of Chabad at this shul.

They also host wonderful Jewish lifecycle events (like weddings, bris, and bar mizvahs) both for community members and others who want appreciate the magnificence of the sanctuary.

If you live in Chelsea (or in a nearby neighborhood) and want to find a community that’s friendly and also allows you to engage with Jewish life at whatever level you choose, this is the shul for you.
Rabbi Shalom Shapiro is the kindest person I know and he runs an amazing synagogue

Favorite venue in the city! This is the place if you need a bar mitzvah, wedding or cooperate event, this spot has both a huge, historic style venue at the top floor as well as a modern stylish venue for smaller events at the ground level. Their service and responsiveness was amazing. Would definitely recommend working with them!
Best shabbos at Columbia!

This synagogue is beautiful and historic. The Rabbi is an excellent speaker. I had chills from the incredible music. Someone told me they use professional musicians. I can believe it. The music was sublime!
Amazing Rabbi and very friendly congregants there to make you feel welcome. Also very enjoyable davening.

I was in the area and came across this Shul..perfect timing to Daven Mincha with a Minyan 2 pm. Located on the first floor all the way down the hall.
The Rabbi and Gabbi gave a nice welcome. It is exactly the kind of shul I was looking for as I am contemplating moving into the neighborhood.

Great, inspiring rabbi and nice congregation. Synagogue is beautiful
Very nice shul. Really cool aesthetics inside. Services don't start too punctually, but it has a nice homey atmosphere to it.

To be honest, I would not consider this to be a "museum." But it's worth the donation and to be able to see the actual temple which is AMAZING. I was lucky enough to be the only person in the space and as cliche as it sounds, it was a breathtaking experience.
A very long running synagogue, founded in 1857 and led by a wonderful Rabbi. Photos can be seen in the book, "Ten Times Chai: 180 Orthodox Synagogues of New York City."

A hidden gem of NYC, with new and unexpected exhibitions every six months (ranging from the history of Jews and chocolate to high holiday postcards from the 1920s). Three small rooms, one with the permanent collection of Judaica, you'll be in and out in 30 minutes. If Warren, the curator, is on site you will get warm and confident insight into the details of every artifact. Free admission but check the hours before you head over. An excellent stop on the way to the Frick or if the crowds at the Met are too oppressive. If you can get a tour of the Sanctuary, or even a peek inside, you'll be glad you came... It is the largest synagogue in the Western hemisphere. Small chapel by the entrance has Tiffany stained glass.
Medium sized- about 30 or 40 men on shabbos. Only modern Orthodox synagogue in Murray Hill/Kips Bay area.
The rabbi is one of the best rabbi I have met. The congregation is very welcoming to everyone, one of the best place so far
A very special synagogue with over 160 years of history. A privledge to spend time in the peaceful and inspiring sanctuary. Thank you to all that have maintained this historic and holy place, much needed for this city's Jewish community.

I was feeling very sad one afternoon, during a business trip in NYC, as the Yertzeit of my Beloved was approaching, I walked in and asked if I could sit in the chapel for a while and they told me to use the sanctuary. I waited until i was alone to feel so sad, but I knew the Baruch HaSem was close. A very calming moment. I returned for Shabbat and did say Kaddish. The size is like nothing I had experienced. The lights were low for Shabbat and I felt very comfortable in such a large room, sitting alone.
Great organization that promotes spirituality through growth of each person to get in touch their inner wisdom!

Such a beautiful synagogue. The scale and detail of the main sanctuary really has the desired effect of placing worshipers in awe. The acoustics are sublime.

We were visitors from the Baltimore area and wanted to go to shul around where we were staying in Chelsea and this was the closest place. We got there at 10 for services but the place was still closed. So if you want to attend services come fashionably late and the place will be open. We did not have a Minyan but we made due. Nice orthodox Shul. Very welcoming and helpful Rabbi as well a welcoming community. We recommend it!

this temple covered up the shameful acts of a cantor who molested his own nephew. Furthermore, they barely condemned the cantor when he was sentenced for deviant acts. this temple and its community and leaders are a disgrace to the Jewish community, no better than the catholic clergy who covered up the priests. shame on temple emanu-el.
