Some of the best mussels we’ve had, as well as perfectly cooked lobster and skate.
Really enjoyed our meal here!

Lovely traditional pub with well kept beer. I've also eaten there in the past and that was good too.

Great little pub with outside seating with a sea view. There's a good selection of real ales. Check the times for food as they don't have a full menu every day, but when they do, it is all cooked to order and is delicious and plentiful.

Popped in on a very hot day , very friendly and welcoming. Had a dog with us and were offered a water bowl straight away. Good chat with locals and although we didn't eat, the Sunday roasts looked amazing

Wow.
Just wow, if you love fish this is an amazing place to eat. The steak a couple of people in our group ordered also looked and by their reactions, tasted amazing.
I had heard good things but wasn't really prepared for how good it really was.
It's an old small pub so cosy but that adds to the atmosphere and the staff were on the top of their game.
Highly recommend

Just excellent. Best restaurant in Lowestoft. Quality fish focused restaurant with wine bar. Pleasant surroundings and friendly competent staff. An enjoyable experience for three of us. We ate in the main restaurant bit after pre drinks in the wine bar area. We all had different choices. All the fish and seafood were fresh, really well cooked and presented. Will very happily return. We spent about £60 per head including drinks and tip on a special occasion but could have spent less. I would say budget £40-50 per head for three courses and a drink. They have an early bird offer too. See website.

Amazing place, second time we have been, thought first time was a one off but truly I cannot knock this place, highly recommend anyone giving it a try 😀

Ate there for my granddaughter's 10th birthday treat. All four meals were delicious. Fish and chips were good and a really big portion it was haddock. Green Tai curry with chicken was very tasty and the king prawn linguine was excellent. Desserts were just as good and presented really well. Couldn't fault anything. Service staff were very friendly and helpful. We booked late afternoon so restaurant was not too busy or noisy. Would highly recommend.

Really enjoyed my Fish and Chips with mushy peas as did my Mum and partner who swapped her mushy peas for some side salad which wasn't an issue. Good range of beers and ales. We ate in the bar area but there is also a restaurant. Quite reasonably priced. Good atmosphere for a Thursday afternoon, quite busy. Good sized car park opposite. We had a good view of the sea. There is a seating area outside which would be lovely in warmer weather. Good walks along the seafront.

Really lovely pub with a local feel. Very welcoming, the food was fantastic and really reasonably priced, would definitely return and recommend.

Disipointing food .
Fish and chips, which they did not know what kind of fish is serving , certainly one filet with bones in it.
The roast , clasic line, overcooked, and no flavour.
They said that is ok to bring our German Shepard in , and we took a table on a side of the pub, just to be sure that we do not bother, one of the other customers came in with another big dog as ours , haven't seen us, apparently, and our dog started to bark.
We have been asked in a polite manner to take our dog out.. we were in the middle of our lunch . I 've taken the dog out , and I 've apologized, but the manager attitude makes the place absolutely a disappointing experience.

What a fantastic place. Went for my wife's birthday ,the food was amazing, the Mussels were as tasty as you can get . I'd say the besy dining experience and food I've had , we both loved it ,

Malaysian coconut curry was the business, enough to turn you veggie, fish wasn't as fresh as I expected and the chips are rough cut, fried with the full skin on, not that appetising really.. 3 star for me, but service was very good... probably still worth a try.

The main was superb, but honestly, I can’t remember EVER having a better starter. My companion and I shared a bowl of popcorn cockles and deep fried whiting. We could have just had another bowl of those for the main.
In the event, we moved on to a luscious haddock chowder and heavenly skate wing.
Fabulous place.

Heavily changed since last visit and given a fair bit of renovation. However the choice of high tables means dining for most will be in the restaurant area. I had a pint of dark mild which was served as flat as a flute. The pub is owned by a local "chain" so think their younger clientele have influenced the choices of decor and furniture. The plus points are outside tables to the front and offering sandwiches.

One vegan option available for each course. You need to book ahead for the dining room, but there was a variety of seats to choose from in the main pub indoors and out. Friendly, helpful service. Meals were tasty.

We visiting MarkG during a trip to the Norfolk coast last year.
This guy cooks up some of the best fish and shell fish dishes we have ever had.
I would highly recommend booking a table if you are in the area, and yes, you should book
We came mid week and the place was packed.
I would also advise booking a taxi in advance if. It driving, it can be difficult to get one

So you walk up through Lowestoft old town, getting more depressed at the gorgeous buildings being ignored. You turn around and start to walk back down the Old High St and at 12 noon, the bells strike, the Old Blue Anchor stores boards catch your eye. We happened in with a beer to quench the thirst, followed by a perusal of the menu. So cockle popcorn as a shared starter, oh yes, a great choice, fresh - tasting of the sea and properly battered to be "popcorny" . Then skate wing with shrimp butter and for my partner a whole plaice with lemon butter and samphire. Both fish are cooked perfectly, just enough to leave the bones cleanly, yet still rich and creamy in texture. The wine list is old and new world, with constant changes. We switched from Sancerre to an excellent Albarino. The Spanish style cheesecake with rhubarb was dessert, complete with a PX sherry and white desert wine, followed by coffee. If you want a reason to visit Lowestoft, it's here. Locally sourced great produce, cooked perfectly and served with gusto. Return visit 6 weeks later with the John Dorey fillet cooked to perfection. Our 3rd visit and we are now old friends. My smoked haddock mustard mash was magnificent, with the skate wi gs with seasonal produce. This chef is a master of fish, so enjoy whats in season. Sorry, no pictures of food, this is to be enjoyed, not photographed. James is both avuncular and authoritative- the perfect host.

Booked a table by sending an email. I had a quick response confirming my reservation. Free parking on the road outside, we were lucky and got a spot quite close. Nice spacious eating area and comfortable seating. The service was good, the food was nicely presented and tasty. Maybe a little expensive but that was OK. I forgot to take a photo of the starters and desserts.

Best pub in town in my opinion.
Went there yesterday and enjoyed a cider or two outside. Great menu too if you are eating. Friendly relaxing atmosphere, lovely and clean throughout, beautiful views of the sea and beach. Definitely recommend 👌

Nice cosy pub and restaurant along the coast from pakefield caravan park. Amazing food and large portions along with excellent friendly staff. Honestly cannot fault it. I would suggest booking ahead by phoning or popping in

Lovely lunch and couple of drinks of local beers. Friendly staff who made a fuss of Mikey the dog - which he and his owner were pleased about - no dogs in restaurant however full menu available in bar area. First visit at lunch time but not the last.
