I went on a Thursday night. It was such a good experience. Expect a queue at the door if you don’t prebook your tickets. Stirling kept us entertained at the door and made standing in the queue a lot more tolerable with his humour. Will definitely return.

Went on a Thursday night for Camden Rocks Thursday. It was fab. Booked our tickets so we got a queue skip. Definitely recommend as it was super busy. Bouncer on the door, Stirling, was fab. He definitely made our night.

The best vegan restaurant my partner and I have ever visited. Located in the heart of Glasgow, this 100% vegan, homemade eatery offers an incredible variety of meat-free options, a welcoming ambiance, and truly lovely staff.

We began our meal with the Baja To-fish Tacos, which were light, refreshingly delicious, and bursting with flavor that only got better with each bite. For our mains, my partner opted for the Shawarma Fries, while I went for “The Spicy One” burger.

The Shawarma Fries were exceptional. Made with seitan strips, they perfectly satisfied my partner’s shawarma cravings. The fries themselves were hand-cut, and exactly the rustic style my partner loves. The flavors complemented each other beautifully, making it a memorable dish.

As for my burger, it was outstanding. The vegan honey blew me away with how closely it resembled the real thing, while the combination of the seitan patty and spicy n’duja sausage created an incredible texture and depth of flavor. The vegan honey tied everything together perfectly, elevating the burger to another level.

To round off the evening, we shared a Steamed Chocolate Sponge for dessert—and it was hands down the best decision of the night. For me, dessert is the highlight of any meal, and this one did not disappoint. The sponge had the perfect texture, but what truly captivated me was the hot sponge sauce. Paired with vanilla ice cream and the confit orange garnish, it delivered the perfect balance of flavors to end a flawless vegan dining experience.

This restaurant has set the bar high for vegan dining, and we can’t wait to return!

Last time we were in town we couldn't get a table mono but this time we got a table and weren't disappointed. This is some serious vegan food, I had the Margarita pizza which had really nice zinggy pizza sauce and plenty of vegan cheese on a well cooked base. I got the shawarma loaded fries which were really good too. With lots of seitan kebab meat. Really nice food and nice staff in a nice setting, we'll definitely be back.

Mon was a great find for dinner with my wife in Central Glasgow !

The ambience is light and chatty and would probably be a great place for a date, to meet up with friends or even read a book and chill.

We pondered over some starters (they have loads of specials on their board which sounded amazing) but then eventually went for the mac and cheese and their sourdough pizza.

Both were sumptuous! The mac n cheese was comforting and warm (needed a bit of salt and spice, but that's just us!) and the sourdough pizza was finger licking good, with artichokes, olives and vegan mozzarella!

Would definitely go back for more if we return to Glasgow!

We went for the kids pizza making class which is on the last Sunday of each month. A great way to keep the kids occupied while the adults chatted! My wee boy didn't like pizza that much until he made his own. Now he loves it!
The grown up menu is small plates, so get some friends together and enjoy! Great venue too!

Head bouncer at Dundee and Glasgow is super duper. Makes our night out complete. Without him on a Thursday and Friday in Dundee we feel the difference, atmosphere is not the same!! Hypes us up before we go in! Only bouncer that actually cares about the wellbeing of the general public and know you can go to with any issue, the only bouncer in Dundee we trust. Firewater is lucky to have him!!

When it comes to nightlife in Glasgow, Firewater has carved out a unique niche for itself as a beloved institution, particularly on Thursday nights. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, eclectic music selection, and, most importantly, its unbeatable drink deals, Firewater draws a diverse crowd looking to unwind and enjoy a night out without breaking the bank. Among the many attractions of this storied venue, the £2.40 double vodka drink special on Thursdays stands out as a particularly enticing offer, making Firewater the go-to destination for students, young professionals, and anyone else in search of a good time.

Nestled in the heart of Glasgow’s city center on Sauchiehall Street, Firewater has been a staple of the local nightlife scene for over two decades. The club is known for its distinctive rock 'n' roll vibe, which sets it apart from other venues in the area. From the moment you step through the door, you’re greeted by an ambiance that combines gritty charm with a sense of rebellious energy. The decor features exposed brick walls, low lighting, and an eclectic mix of vintage posters and graffiti art, creating an environment that feels both edgy and inviting.

The music at Firewater is as diverse as its patrons. While the club is renowned for its rock and indie playlists, you’ll also hear everything from classic hits to contemporary anthems, with DJs seamlessly blending genres to keep the energy high and the dance floor packed. This musical variety ensures that there’s something for everyone, whether you’re a die-hard fan of indie rock or just someone looking to dance the night away to familiar tunes.

While Firewater is a popular destination every night of the week, there’s something particularly special about Thursdays. Known as "Thirsty Thursdays," this night has become legendary among regulars and newcomers alike. The main draw? An unbeatable £2.40 double vodka drink special that has become synonymous with the Firewater experience.

In an era where the cost of a night out can quickly add up, this drink deal is nothing short of a game-changer. For just £2.40, patrons can enjoy a double shot of vodka with their mixer of choice, making it one of the most affordable drink options in the city. This deal is especially appealing to students, who make up a significant portion of Firewater’s Thursday night crowd. For those on a budget, the opportunity to enjoy multiple drinks without spending a fortune is a major attraction.

But it’s not just the affordability of the drinks that makes Thursdays at Firewater so special. The low prices create a sense of camaraderie among the patrons, many of whom are there to enjoy a relaxed, fun-filled night out with friends. The atmosphere is lively yet unpretentious, with everyone from regulars to first-timers feeling welcome. The crowd is a mix of university students, young professionals, and music enthusiasts, all drawn together by their shared love of good music and affordable drinks.

On a typical Thursday night, the club is buzzing with energy from the moment the doors open until the early hours of the morning. The dance floor is consistently packed, with people letting loose and enjoying the music. The bar staff are friendly and efficient, ensuring that even during the busiest times, you’re never waiting too long for your next drink. The combination of great music, affordable drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere makes Firewater an irresistible destination for anyone looking to kick off the weekend early.

For many, Thursdays at Firewater have become a cherished weekly tradition. It’s a night where you can catch up with friends, make new ones, and enjoy a few drinks without worrying about the cost. The sense of community that has developed around these Thursday nights is a testament to Firewater’s enduring appeal. Even as trends in nightlife come and go, Firewater’s commitment to providing an enjoyable, affordable night out has kept it at the forefront of Glasgow’s club scene.

Cool venue, great music. Food was a little cold when it arrived, and seemed to take a while (though people who ordered after us got their orders first). Also kinda heavy on the sauce. They forgot a couple of drink orders, staff seemed flustered but the venue wasn't busy at all really (maybe two other groups in the main space, and a separate event running in another room with dedicated staff). I'd go back, but maybe just for drinks and the music next time.

Bouncers horrible. Did not accept any id presented to them or proof of identification. Simply bouncers on a power trip. Tried to show bank cards, online banking, online accounts and were not accepted. Horrible people who said they did not like my attitude after I had exhausted all options of identification while letting through individuals clearly underage and very intoxicated drinking in the queue with bottles stuffed in their trousers and jacket pockets. Poor show.

Cool and laid back with an array of mains, burgers and pizzas. Craft and local beers as well as wines and spirits. I had the pizza crunch (deep-fried pizza slice) which comes with homemade chips and a pickled onion and added a side of mushy peas. Absolutely delicious! The staff are really friendly and helpful too. Gender neutral toilets with cubicles only and gender neutral toilets with cubicles and urinals. There's also a record shop attached. It says booking recommended and I can see why. I got here at 5:45 on a Tuesday evening and it was starting to get busy.

Today was my first visit to Glasgow (work unfortunately), but I'll definitely come here next time life brings me to this city!

Fun little bar/club vibe for a Wednesday eve. Had to pay an entry fee of £5 each, asked the doorman if student discount was available and he said yes, £4. I offered to pay for the whole group (four of us) to speed things up for him (even though there was no queue behind us). I turned to ask my friends if they had student IDs on them, at which point he rudely said "it's only an extra pound". Felt awkward so just paid full price. That being said, the drinks were ridiculously cheap (£2.40 for a double and mixer!) so can't go wrong if you plan on spending a couple hours here. It would've been nice if the staff had mentioned the deals to us when ordering instead of it being a huge suprise, but overall decent night out for us.

Cute little restaurant that is fully vegan. Has a cool vibe and super chill. They were short staffed but didn't make a difference as they were all super nice. Ordered too much food but lots of choice. Really liked the cauliflower wings and tacos.

Food was real tasty. Staff were lovely. If I had to be critical, the music was far too loud. I appreciate that we went on a Saturday evening, but the volume meant that everyone had to pretty much shout at each other.

Went to gig doors open at 8.30 no mention of support act, met others outside who were annoyed that main act wouldn’t be on till 10-10.30 asked to get refund as last train home was 11 but no joy. Guess customer isn’t always right. Thanks for nothing and by the way could do with a makeover looks like a slum outside

Lovely food this, all vegan too. I had the chip supper which was really nice, made with deep fried banana flower (try it, it's great and a great meat substitute). Chips were lovely and crisp and the peas were so tasty too. The chocolate torte with whiskey cream was devine too. I was stuffed after my lunch, I definitely recommend this one. Lots of creative tasty food options and a nice beer selection!

Stopped by for lunch on a weekday and was able to get a seat right away. Delicious, very hearty lunch, I had the fried banana blossom sandwich, I was a little worried it would be too sweet, but it was fantastic. Fast service as well. Highly recommend.
Dog friendly. Generous portions. Inclusive space. Appreciate the fact that they are not shy on acidity in dishes. Interesting take of 'fish' n chips with wakame added to banana blossom! You can taste a lot of thought and effort is put into the dish as there's no typical briny flavour in the banana blossom!

Location is superb as it's very close to Glasgow central station. Entrance is in an alley so might be hard to spot.

Low & no/ alcohol-free options available.

I love a grungy pub but I have never been to a dirtier pub in my lifetime. It’s obviously been a very long time since the toilets were cleaned properly, skirting was filthy and hand drier/hot taps did not work. The young bar staff spent more time talking to each other or on their laptops to serve behind the bar! They were rude and we felt like an inconvenience! Will definitely not be returning and would advise you same.

The performance area is a very narrow and low ceilinged basement and tiny stage but that's just due to the physical constraints of the building and could count as creating a certain vibe (but also very claustrophobic). The very rough and basic interior could also be accepted as the intended style, all of which could be acceptable but what is unacceptable are the very unhygienic toilets and the fact that only one of the two unisex wc cubicles in the basement was working, while a couple of hundred hard drinking rock fans are down there for two or three hours. Also the toilets stank of dampness. The Cola with mixer drinks was also totally watered down and no canned option was available. We won't be back. Advice to the owners is get rid of the dampness, give your toilets a half-decent makeover and deep clean, keep them all functioning and don't cheapskate on the drinks.

Great venue entertainment food and service inside, However, security on entry pretty poor. Especially, when you’re forced to wait outside in a storm before entering two by two as the door is shut after each couple. And it gets better, on entry, declare the contents of your handbag to a male security guard. The alternative, loose out after paying £62 for food and entertainment up front!

I know my rights but, felt coerced. If I had known about the handbag search and plastic tumbler drinks after the meal; I would not have booked. Just lowered the tone for me.

Pity because the entertainment was amazing but I will not be back due to the verbally enacted policy.

Unfortunately, their unshared policy prior to entry meant holding my rights to ransom because I had paid in advance of entry.

I know I could have walked away on principle but after paying out for a date night with the hubby, it’s not easy to let anyone feel let down after planning a special occasion inclusive of accommodation for an overnight stay, parking and food over two days. We’re lucky if either of us saw change in £400 for this wee venture.

Perhaps they have underestimated their target market on this one!

Decent place for some tasty vegan food, Peirogi was nice, didnt feel 100% after the chips though, friendly service and great music genres playing in the background like rock, grunge, alternative etc.

Menu could be bigger, with maybe some cheaper options as only got 2 peirogis for £8, they were tasty thankfully

This a hidden gem. A very nice place to hang out with your friends or even a cute date.

The only thing which bothered me was the staff, there were many servers coming to the table asking if we wanted anything else with an intention of asking us to leave and a server even came and asked us to pay the bill first. Which just put us off, and we decided not to order anymore and leave.

Overall, a good vibe and chicken dishes are just amazing 👏 😋

I attended the venue downstairs for a live music gig. It was small, intimate and the sound was amazing. The bar staff upstairs were friendly, efficient and full of beans which makes for an enjoyable atmosphere.
The place was left dirty after customers left. Had to clear the table I sat. Customer service was terrible as there was little or no regards to customers' time. Food arrived super late and was really not as nice as expected. The semo was really hard.

I would not eat here except I had no other option.
After a long day of exploring Glasgow, I needed an African touch and The Calabash African Bar and Restaurant was recommended. Had mama's special and it was not that bad. Had African Fanta as well. It was noisy from music and other guests though. But good location in the city centre.

Toilets even grubbier.

The ferry is a very cozy place, they open only on Saturdays and Sundays, it's at the heart of Glasgow City center. They serve food till 8:30 but drinks is been sold downstairs and they also have guest artists come in to serenade people and all. It's actually quite cheap and they have the 3-course meal. The wash room is very standard and neat, it's a really great view at night.
A very unassuming place from the outside, but once you enter up the staircase it opens up into a spacious dining area. This was our first time eating Ethiopian food, and eating with our hands was a slightly messy but fun experience. The staff was great, even giving us a demonstration on how to serve and eat the food. And speaking of the food, it was fantastic! Very flavorful, and plentiful! You will not leave here hungry.

I and another friend of mine have asked on different occasions if the meat is halal. It says on JustEat that there are halal options so I called to clarify.

The owner claimed to not understand what I am asking and didn't know what halal is.

Understanding the difference between halal and non halal is very basic for catering. It is not good customer service to have no knowledge of this, or to promote on JustEat that the food you serve is halal when it is clearly not.

The setting is great with lots of space.

Limited choice of drinks, though the available ones are fine.

Entrance to restaurant is well looked after and inside appears very colourful.

During the weekend, the music might appear to be too loud for some conversation.
First African restaurant in the whole of Scotland. Old looking but well taken care of. The food and manager are very good .
The food here is AMAZING! I always get the nyama choma (sizzling lamb) and the chikina awaze tibis (lamb with the delicious spongy injera). Bala is the best! We live in Edinburgh but he remembers us (and what we eat) every time!
Wonderful for African dishes. Nyama choma and ugali is the best in Scotland, Githeri is also available.

Cool wee venue. Really enjoyed the recent techno gig. Knocked off a star as we ordered two cocktails and neither was made with the right ingredients. A wonderful little grassroots music venue right in the heart of Glasgow. Drinks are reasonably priced too, with a decent selection as well! Spiral staircase can be a little treacherous but it's workable. Toilets in good nick too. Very affordable night out, recommend this place.

Nice relaxing atmosphere, services were good. Had the vegan platter, which was very fresh and tasty. 👌✔️
This is a bit of a hidden gem! It doesn't look anything special from outside but it's actually a big restaurant serving very tasty Ethiopian food! Really enjoyed the food and the experience. Fantastic environment, delicious food & top notch service. Apocom Kitchen is the place for African food in Glasgow. No other comes close
An absolute gem in Central Glasgow! The entrance hides a lovely open dining area which creates an authentic feeling experience. The staff are very friendly and engaging and keen to share their culture and heritage. The food itself is outstanding, Traditionally prepared and presented. Get ready to embrace using your hands to eat, sharing with your dining companions. Very highly recommended!
High expectations going in here. Very authentic feeling on the inside, but can get quite hot as there are no windows. We had to wait aaaggeess for our food after ordering which wasn't fun. The food tasted okay, I wouldn't say amazing. We had the goat curry and lamb stew which were unimpressive. The jollof rice tasted quite nice though I'd recommend that. Chicken liver for starters was also good, as were the cassava chips. Not sure if I'd go back here in all honesty, but perhaps worth a try if you're feeling authentic African food.

Wonderful place. If you want true special cuisine. Here is what you need come. And food is very taste. A little spicy by the way.
I came all the way from Portsmouth. While in Portsmouth, a very close friend of mine recommended Calabash African Bar and upon My visit, The restaurant is simply the best. The quality and the taste of the food was excellent the customer service was awesome. Bala, Steve and other staffs possessed excellent customer services. I will always come to this restaurant again and again and do not hesitate to recommend the restaurant to anyone that value real quality african tastes.
I walked in for a take away order, I was not greeted nor told how to order until I went up to ask how to order.
I ordered Okro soup it tasted okay but not fresh, seemed defrosted and warmed up. The pounded yam to go with it as well wasn’t made properly. The portion was small as well for the price.
The place is underground. We came very enthusiastic with high expectations, and as high the expectations - the high of the disappointment.
We waited for our food for *40* minutes, and when some of it did arrive it was tasteless, and felt defrosted.
After the bad experience and the lack of patience, be just left without even getting the rest of our order.
Won't be back!! 😡
Highly recommend. Lovely staff, very tasty vegan platters. Great value for money.
I suppose the atmosphere could be better with a bit more decorations and/or objects in the room but it did not bother me that much, lovely homely anyway

I ordered some food to takeaway and taste for our wedding catering. We enjoyed everything we ordered and have now decided to use Apocom for our wedding day. Communication with the owner has been fantastic and we are confident that Apocom will deliver great food and service on our special day.
After waiting 2-4hrs, the food never arrived. ☹️ Understand that places can be busy. But after being hung up on, being told different stories, and saying 'the driver is coming, he's left' it was a bit of a disappointing end.
Sorting out to get money back. A shame since I've good reviews about this place.
Edit: Food finally arrived after waiting all night. Portion size? Very disappointing. Taste wise? Lack of. Didn't feel comfortable finishing it as everything seemed off.
It was one of the most valuable experiences I have ever had. Food was topnotch, and the customer service was great. It's good to have such experiences once a while. My wife was more than happy as it was on her birthday.
BEWARE. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND. I am going to the police to deposit a complaint. I ordered a meal that was absolutely disgusting and quite spicy for me. Had NO idea that jollof rice required a whole bowl of spice. I have ULCER and kindly told him I couldn't eat it. I BARELY touched it. The person I assume who owns the restaurant requested that I pay for a meal I BARELY touched. I asked him if I could order something else at that price, he refused and proceeded to LOCKING ME INSIDE THE RESTAURANT!!!!!!!!!! WITH KEYS. I was ALONE with 2 men!!!!! I eventually paid as I was quite scared of my safety. He also approached me and asked if I knew who he was. I will deposit a claim. And will plaster this all over Nigerian blogs. Locking a woman in a restaurant for HORRIBLE food is insane. DO NOT GO HERE. You've been warned.

If you're looking for delicious Ethiopian cuisine in Glasgow, Mosob Bar and Restaurant is a great choice.

The food is of exceptional quality, with fresh ingredients and unique flavors that make it stand out from other restaurants in the area. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to offer recommendations and suggestions. The owner is especially accommodating, happily modifying menu items to avoid over-ordering.

The ambience of the restaurant is also quite pleasant, and the service is fast and efficient. All in all, Mosob Bar and Restaurant is definitely worth a visit and comes highly recommended.
We went on a Saturday night and it was pretty full so booking ahead is a good idea. With a mixed group we had starters then both vegan and meat sharing platters. The food is both well prepared and tasty with herbs and spices. Don't expect posh grub and you will not be disappointed - not only was all the food delicious but it's also very reasonably priced, as are the drinks. "Value for money" would get 6*👍
Delicious African food, l enjoyed my poundo with bitterleaf soup with assorted meat Pepersoup takeaway.
I and my children loved each of the meals. We had a buffet sort of takeaway and I can honestly say - it was as if we were dinning in a Kenyan Coastal Restaurant! The food was bursting with flavors!!!
Well done chef - 6✨✨from us!!!

I would highly recommend!
My partner and I had the large vegan share plate with an entree between us and could barely walk out we were so full. The flavours were incredible! Ethiopian food is difficult to find in some cities so we were excited to find this place in Glasgow. The service was friendly & helpful, and the food was even better. Absolute hidden gem!

Great gig venue, accessability and toilets could do with some updating.
Such a wonderful find in Glasgow. I'm Scottish my husband is Nigerian and this was a fantastic experience while on holiday back to my native city Glasgow. My husband said the okra soup with pounded yam was the best he has ever tasted since his mum passed. Lovely owner too
Good food and night Africa home environment. Really feel no e to see other people of kind. Very nice place to meet friends. They have a variety of African and Caribbean foods selections.

Lovely place where you can order a lot of different food, listening to some good music. Prices are a little bit high, but food is soooo tasty and the staff really is friendly. They had an issue with the order app so our food came 20 minutes early, and they offered us the last 2 plates to apologize ! I would definitely recommend going there
A very chilled location and serene environment, lovely and tasty dishes you'll always want to come back for. Really superb!
The best place for Nigerian food and delicacies. Very tasty. You should try the Isi ewu, pepper soup and guiness stout. They have lots of local beer too.
The interior is quite boring and dim. The customer service is quite stern.
Food wise, it was not at all impressive. There are certain standards you'd expect of Nigerian dishes, but this place doesn't meet the lowest threshold. The 'asun' is just fried meat, 'suya' was just fried meat dusted with paprika. This restaurant wouldn't survive in London. When I was there, there was only one person taking orders, cleaning and serving.
All in all, it should take the work serious or just pack it in.
I had the best Nwobi of my adult life here.
The aftertaste of the utazi😍 My God!
I didn't want to eat or drink anything else apart from water because I wanted to still feel the taste in my buds.
This restaurant comes highly recommended by me 💯

Also, the owner is a good man.
I had a lovely experience at this restaurant, located in Glasgow. I was hungry and wanted to eat my Nigerian delicacy. It was quite easy to locate by Google map. The restaurant itself looks good and neat with enough eating tables for customers, I rocked and enjoyed the afro music playing in the background, it gave me a feeling of home. Their menu contains variety of African - Nigerian food s, drinks and snacks. I ordered the infamous palm wine which I have missed for over 5yrs. The cost of food was OK, quite affordable. Good customer service, but they need to employ more staff to make the service quicker, I had to wait for about 30 minutes to get my meal. Also, the chicken I ate didn't taste like a hard chicken from Africa. The vegetable soup I ate was very delicious, but a bit watery. The pounded yam was perfect!!.
In conclusion, I didn't regret coming there, and hope to come back anytime I am in Glasgow.

Great food before seeing Stereo MCs next door. I had the chicken sliders and my mate the brisket tacos. Both were winners. So good I forgot to take photos. Desert was lovely too.

Was my first time out in a while. And I really enjoyed it.

Staff were excellent. Special mention to Kathryn the manager for offering to go out of her way for me.

The gig venue next door will be familiar to most as the old Arches. Great venue for gigs.
Was in Glasgow for 3days and the first visit experience to the restaurant on the first day ensured we visited for the remaining two days.

The foods were superb and with the original Nigerian taste, and also prepared fresh. The menu list is endless and I wished I could have spent more time to experience more dishes. I'm surely gonna visit the next time I'm in Glasgow.

And the customer experience is fantastic too. The owner ensured our comfort.

A small intimate basement music venue.
There is a bar and restaurant upstairs but I was there to see Emma Jean Thackray for some serious Jazz with a side order of funk! Banging! Great venue! (and only a short walk from The Pot Still)

Had a wonderful night here for the Wishbone Ash gig...highly recommend it.. upper and lower viewing area, get there early if you are any a table on the "balcony"... Well managed and staff friendly and helpful...
Back again yesterday for that alternative group, Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash. Gig marshalled well on entry. Place little changed, ( still no food available) bit livelier than the last time I was over, maybe due to the size of the crowd. Will be back again if the necessary group/ occasion presents itself.

The food is so delicious that I really would like to eat here everyday. The service is quick and friendly; I feel the comfortable environment in the restaurant. Although I’m not an expert in African cuisine, I can tell this restaurant is a must visit! I brought my boyfriend and flatmate to eat at this place, and they both wowed at the food. (This is the first time I wrote a review for a restaurant, as I believe this place is too good to be kept to myself)
