Not a good dining experience. But I've seen so many good reviews that I'd like to guess that it's the off-season, so the restaurant strategy seems a bit confusing. The menu only has set meals, no a la carte is allowed, and sharing is not allowed, the food is not delicious either. Not recommended!
Best restaurant I went to in Istanbul. Such delicious food.
Az fasulye Az pilav Yanında içecek yok 130 tl yani Gerisini siz düşünün Bu arada Garsonlar tepenizde dikilmeseler daha iyi olur Hadi yedin kalk git gibi hissediyor insan Yer aman aman çok büyük değil
We went to Giritli on our trip to Istanbul and it was one of the highlights of our visit! I especially loved the borek and the kofte and the grilled seabass and would recommend them.

We also saw them feeding some cats out on the street which we thought was very sweet. And yes, the cats approved the food as well!

We stayed at Dosso Dossi hotel for 4 nights on our recent visit to Istanbul and it was very good. Here's a comprehensive review of the hotel.

The good(s):
1) We booked an executive room and was provided one on the first floor. It was spacious and had everything we needed. The bathroom was clean and has other amenities.
2) The location was central within close proximity of Hagia Sophia. Plenty of travel options whether it is by foot, tram or taxi.
3) Breakfast was brilliant and we had a very filling and satisfactory breakfast every day. There were plenty of options with a English and Turkish spread and loads of desserts, puddings and fruits.
4) Staff really go an extra mile. Kudos to the reception team and concierge (apologies didn't note down the names) who were very good and helped with our queries everytime. We also loved the work done by the guy who painted our names in the ottoman style outside breakfast lounge.

Can be better:
1) The carpets were really dirty, don't know whether this was due to the weather but they looked very worn and patchy.
2) It was very noisy in the morning. The walls must be thin and as we were close to the stairs, reception and above the kitchen, it got noisy after 6am every day. Road noises weren't that bad despite being on the 1st floor facing off to the streets below.
3) The gym was very well equipped but a bit too congested due to smaller size.

Overall a very good hotel, gets a solid 4 star. Highly recommended if you're looking for a hotel, within a convenient distance from all the attractions in the old city.
The hotel is superbly located within 5 minutes walking distance of Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, Basilica Cistern and lots of restaurants nearby including the famous The Pudding Shop (Lala Restaurant). The Grand Bazar is just a 10 min walk.

The standard rooms are small but very functional with good storage space. The reception area is large with lots of sitting spaces for a hotel that is in the Old Town. The breakfast spread was awesome and very sumptuous. The service was very good.

We stayed there for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there
Unpleasant Stay at Legacy Ottoman Hotel: A Series of Disappointments

Review:

My recent stay at the Legacy Ottoman Hotel, a place that boasts a five-star rating, was fraught with disappointments and discomforts. Among the most distressing issues was an encounter with the security staff. Despite being a top-paying guest, I was denied access to my room via the elevator by a security guard, even after the front desk had given the go-ahead. This level of unprofessionalism was not only disconcerting but also diminished my perception of the hotel's supposed high standards.

The discomfort didn't end there. My room, which I had expected to be a haven of luxury and relaxation, was plagued by mosquitoes. This not only disrupted my sleep but also raised concerns about the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel.

The lack of hot water was another major inconvenience. Waiting endlessly for a warm shower is hardly what one expects from a reputed five-star hotel. Additionally, the oversight in providing basic amenities like a toothbrush and comb on the second night was another glaring lapse in service.

Further adding to my frustrations was the malfunctioning room key, which left me stranded outside my room on the second day. Such operational glitches are surprising and unacceptable for a hotel that prides itself on providing a seamless experience to its guests.

On a slightly positive note, the breakfast offered a unique feature - a fully Bee's honeycomb, which was a pleasant surprise in an otherwise disappointing stay.

Overall, my experience at the Legacy Ottoman Hotel fell drastically short of the luxurious stay I had anticipated. The combination of poor service, lack of basic amenities, and the mosquito issue in the room were stark contrasts to the five-star experience the hotel claims to offer. It's my hope that the hotel management will take this feedback seriously and implement necessary changes to improve the guest experience. As it stands, I cannot recommend this hotel to others looking for a comfortable and hassle-free stay.
Delicious food, nice service. We came back here after 7 years and we will come back. With all my heart - we recommend! Anyway, see how it was. 😍

Low quantities of food besides the price
The girl doesn't know english very well
I recommend other burger king point than this
This is not a 5 star hotel I'm used to. I would think it was more of a 3 star. It is in serious need of updating in the rooms. The furniture, the carpet, the outlets, just everything needs a good updating. the location is in a fabulous area. Walking distance to the train, ferry, bosphorus river, and the bridge that spans it. The service people in the restaurant, the reception area were very nice and their service was always always spectacular. They were the best thing about the hotel.
Being a 5-star hotel you would think they had a proper hairdryer but they don’t, it is like the past century!!! The internet only worked for 1 night although we stayed 3.
In the mornings they are very insisting on opening your door without even knocking, and the people that do knock, do it loudly!!!
The rooms need update in the corner of our room was an old and humid wallpaper.
To make matters worse we came back at midnight and our room was not clean even though we left the card outside our door to have it cleaned!!
I just don’t get how it is a 5-star rated hotel.
Fancy upscale restaurant. Beware of potential extra charges on your bill. May be asked to pay in Euros.

Good, comfortable hotel that is worth while staying in when you want to be in this area. Nice elaborate breakfast. There were some issues with the room (water boiler didn’t work and low water pressure) which were fixed the same day, but communication is difficult since staff do not always speak English well. The rooms were supposed to be sound proof but there was a lot of noise from outside, cleaning staff and other guests. However still a comfortable stay.

OK.... But not worth the price. For the amount you pay you can get a much better meal in the same area. Try the Syrian fried chicken. A-MAZ-ING
Good food but very rude service. atmosphere was off there was a cat that kept peeing in the corner and some guy wearing only a blanket and a loincloth kept coming in and yelling that the government took his dignity
i ordered a small tiny kebab and it took 40 minutes i kept asking when it would be ready and when they handed it to me they spat on my food and told me that i'm a pig
What a wonderful place to have diner, all was ok. Tonight we had mixed fish and will come back this week for mixed grill meat

Location of this hotel is great. Service is sub zero. Our room didn’t get cleaned for 5 nights that we stayed with them. Buffet breakfast is very disappointing.
I forgot a dress in the cupboard and I went back to get it, they never found it and response was deal with it it was only a dress, nothing valuable. My dress was a $300 silk dress. They just stole it and lied to me about it.
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was even better! Service is great
Waiters lack of basic service professionallity.
Atmosphere looks nice, but the cats jumping on our table ruined our mood.
I think the service should pay more attention to the animals around since cats are all around Istanbul but this is the only one where cats walking between tables and even jump on.

Then the food is very average even tho with a high price.

Worst thing is the service, where they had the same speech every where around this area, saying Free tea and free baklava, and no Service charge(like it's a good thing?)

In the end, we didn't get tea or baklava, and due to the awful experience so we didn't tip much, then the waiter expressed his unsatisfaction in front of us, which feels very unprofessional and aggressive.

This restaurant has nothing to do with michelin. It is a medium quality Greek taverna, with not only one thing at michelin standards. The service is very bad and very slow. Unprepared and arogant staff. They served at the begging a very good wine and after request some more they bring a very bad one and they say that it is the same. NOT the same, huge quality difference, and they became very angry and aggressive. The environment is like in a poor Greek taverna. The food is like in a medium quality Greek taverna. If you are looking for very good food and service, avoid it! Waaaaaay to expensive for what they offer.
One of the finest restaurants I've been to. The food is very tasty, and depending one what you order, you can get a good Instagram show
For example, they have this stew that's made in an urn, which they treat with fire in front of you, so it cracks open, and then the food is served.
Good stew, good show.

Prices are normal range. Friendly staff, they treat customers very well. We were offered a small desert and Turkish tea on the house.

Definitely a good culinary experience. Would surely recommend.

Nice hotel, needing some updates. The aircon is old and does not work well. The room cards fail every time after one use. Fixtures and fittings looking tired.

The service is however, outstanding. Everyone is brilliant and a credit to the hotel.

Location is great for getting to some of the best parts of the history of this amazing city.

The standard room was too small for 2 people. We could hardly open our luggage because there was no space. The only way is to open our luggage on our bed. My husband and I spent 2 weeks for our holidays in this hotel and we felt that we spent 2 weeks inside the small box🙄. Room is not soundproof, so don't expect much, you can hear all the loud noises from other rooms and outside, we couldn't sleep properly. Ending we are more stressed instead of relaxed. Their massage was too pricy and they are charging Euro. I'm sorry but I cannot recommend this hotel for people who want to be relaxed and enjoy their holidays without spending too much😄✌️

I stayed at LEGACY OTTOMAN HOTEL in 2023, in September for 6 nights. At first the stuff welcomed me, the told me that my hotel room wasn't paid. I had to show conformation that payment was charged a month ago on my credit card. they still insisted. for me to pay again- I refused... then they called somewhere and everything was OK. The room was spacious-actually it was suit, but old blow dryer for hair and no pen to write notes. only 2 pieces of paper... they put only one toilet paper roll in the bathroom, we had to call to get another one. The first night we had 2 bath robes for three guests, the rest nights-we stayed 6 nights, they put only 1, and sometimes 2 waters complimentary instead of 3. The location is great, but streets are very narrow, and too many cars, leaving no space for walking. I bought breakfast for us, none of those 6 mornings nobody came to our table and offered tea or coffee, although there were at least 5 people in the eating area. being in 5 stars hotel that was disappointing. I had to catch a personal walking in the dining area and request tea.
They differently need to put new dryers in the rooms and improve breakfast serving service. The food was pretty good, I had everything I needed.
It’s a nice place. There’s vegetable grip is so good. Memo çevik is gentle and kind.

Delicious food, but a bit slow service
Chicken and rice sharer. HUGE! Free Turkish tea.
Overall, great but not exceptional.
Young man waiter tried hard to please, excellent service. Sorry I've forgot his name.
This hotel is a good example of low quality overpriced accomodation all over sultan Ahmet and Taksim areas.
Staff are extremely rude to the point that you may feel threatened. Almost all of them smoke right in front of the main door.
Hotel is located in a narrow street on a steep hill, you'll have to climb up from main road to get there.
Rooms shown in photos of this hotel are all enhanced and look much bigger than what they are. You can see the photos I took and uploaded for reference.
Door handles are falling apart and if you pull them hard they'll just cone off!
No soundproofing at all, we had 15 sleepless nights and every time we complained they did absolutely nothing.
Food was terrible too and overall unhealthy.
I would not recommend this hotel and in fact any of the others listed in this area.

They advertise themselves as a five star hotel but in my opinion they are not. Hotel is beautiful but the finer points are lacking. Room wasn’t the cleanest, bed against the wall with only one nightstand (odd), lack of plugs for electronics, bathroom lacked amenities and the linens seemed old and quite thin. Overall vibe was the hotel is old and just not being kept up the way it could be. Five star hotels pay attention to details and this one doesn’t seem to care so much. I had a way better experience at the Sheraton city center.
Wow I never heard of a place this disgusting expensive and they charge service fees! Terrible atmosphere terrible service!

The biggest plus point of this hotel is the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to help you. Next, it is the location, you’re within a 5 minute walk from Haga Sofia and the Blue Mosque. There is a good variety of options for breakfast but it can get very busy and if you have a large group, you may have to split up to get seated.
The rooms themselves are quite small and the decor is a little dated. Bathroom facilities are adequate.
Excellence service.
I’d say service was the highlight of the experience.
Super friendly and welcoming staff.
They greeted us initially. And gave us free tea and sweets at the end.

The food quality was very good, but I definitely had better.

Overall, excellent.

Beautiful little oasis in Sultanahmet! More negatives than positives, though. Only a set menu is offered, options "big" and "small", 60€ or 50€, with the main difference being unlimited alcohol and some extra mezes for the big. This kind of meal does not cost this much money in Istanbul. I only went because it was a friend's birthday and this restaurant had sentimental value for him. Service was extremely slow. Food was just ok, with small portions. They should absolutely not quote prices in euro. The photo is the "small" option for 3 people.

Enjoyed our stay here. Very central and well located. Walked to all the local attractions like the museums, Hagia Sophia, blue mosque, Basilica Cisterns etc. Excellent breakfast buffet with fresh honey on the honeycomb! Did not like the artwork on the walls. However a lovely stay on the whole. Would recommend.

Dosso Dossi is a decent basic boutique hotel that is very well located. We got a room on level 2 with no view, which was decently priced at EUR 100 per night. Our room rate included breakfast. The only complaint is that the bed was soft. Otherwise, it was a clean and sufficiently spaced room for a couple. Do note that the room wasn't very soundproof. We could hear everything in the corridors. However, it wasn't troubling. The bathroom was clean, and water pressure was good. Room cleaning is done daily. The WiFi connection isn't the best, but it gets the job done. Breakfast spread is good. I will recommend this location for exploring the Old City.
Good location and very tasty food. However the fixed menu is absolutely overpriced for Istanbul. And I’m sure there is a different price for locals. 60€ pp for all the mezze you see you in the picture + main course + dessert + unlimited drinks. Not worth… just don’t go for the fixed menu… however the atmosphere is fantastic
An amazing place! We are happy with absolutely everything. High-quality products, pleasant staff, the atmosphere as if you were in Greece. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant

Great place. Wonderful staffs. Happy moments can be created over here. Food is nice. Sheesha also available. Must try to tourists. Anas did great on his first day. And Ali is a great host as well.
The staff greeted me with friendliness. This was my first time trying çorba here, and I loved it. The place is clean, cozy, and warm. The service was amazing and very fast. The staff always makes sure that my orders are completed. I would definitely come back here.
We wanted to try a new place and ended up going here. The prices are exorbitant and the ambience is of a normal restaurant. All other restaurants nearby where we ate are way cheaper. They will charge you 3 times the normal price and will add a mysterious tax. We only ordered 2 main courses a chicken sheesh and a sea bass. We ended up paying 700tl. They also take a lot of time to get your food. It makes you think as if they don't cook the food there. We felt scammed here. We don't recommend at all. Stay away.

Nice and cosy place this time of the year. I'm sure that they are very busy during summer. The service was prompt and fast!!
The food was just Okay, but the SERVICE was more than excellent!!
I don’t think the prices match the quality of food, but if you aim to have a private spot to enjoy slow dinners and long talks I would highly recommend it, but if you are basically searching for any authentic delicious food, then sorry No!

After being disappointed at McDonald's and KFC, I tried Burger King for the first time. The bread bum tastes like 2 days old, the meat and fries were fine. The staff was friendly. Overall, that Whopper menu is worth 30 lira, not 80. I think only people deluded and manipulated by advertising can actually like most of the American fast food chains. It's horrendous.
Disgusting Place. Unfortunately, for the first time I picked this resturant without reading the reviews because we were outside in the area. They brought the french fries first because it was hot, & after 30 minutes they brought the chicken dishes for my wife & myself not fresh & cold with trrible taste. Even the bread was bad, hard, and not fresh like made at 3-4 days before dinning. Their charge were over than what shown in the menu. In short this place is scam, not recommended to anyone.
Hands down the worst food in Turkey. Onwer and manager were thief. The food tasted pathetic and they were not ready to acknowledge that and to top it off they charge you 10 percent service fee
Great location. Traditional Turkish deco. Service is quick. I ordered a lamb dish with veggie and rice (#52 ), the lamb chop platter, and stew veggie casserole. The lamb dish was flavorful, on the sweet side because the dried fruits are added. Recommended to stop by.
Wonderful spot right in Old City, outdoor café tables, excellent food, and reasonable prices. A fun, friendly staff who put on a fun show with the Clay Pot meal. Can't wait to see visit this spot again on our next trip to Istanbul. Highly recommend.
The food is quite good. You do though get the feeling that you've been tricked. They add a mysterious "tax" to the receipt. Then they give themselves a 15% tip. They overcharged me for coffee that was not good at all.
Service is okay, food is okay, seating is okay comfortable. Nothing to complain specifically, also nothing super impressive. Kinda pricey for Turkey standard but it's unavoidable in touristy area. The sultans favorite is kinda interesting with eggplant puree.
Really great atmosphere, kind servers and quality food. Everything lacked a tad bit of salt in my opinion but nothing that you can't adjust yourself at the table. The calamari is tip quality and the meze really satisfying.
I visited this restaurant with a group of 8. The service was absolutely remarkable and the food was so tasty. Our server Nihat provided us with complimentary baklava & delicious apple & Turkish tea. He was so warm and welcoming. Originally, we were hesitant to visit this restaurant due to the previous reviews. The locals informed us that it is now under new management and that we would not regret dining with them- they were not wrong. We were so so pleased with everything.

I was sick for 2 days. I vomited three times after eating their hamburger. If you don't want to be sick like me, don't go to this place.
This place is garbage, don't be fooled. I don't think they even cook their own food in the restaurant. We ordered the meat stew in the clay pot because it looked interesting. The french fries and rice that came with it were cold. The bread was someone's leavings as one piece already had the middle removed. The stew itself was boring and bland and only warm, not hot. It was super expensive by Turkish standards (500TL, but we agreed to that price). They added tax. Turkish restaurants don't charge tax - SCAM ALERT.. We asked for tap water, they gave us bottled. It's a tourist trap/scam. The fire show was fun however and the waiter who did the show was nice.

Do yourselves a HUGE favor and walk to the little covered restaurants within 20-50m where you'll find amazing food, reasonably priced cooked right there.
After a long day of walking around the city (walking tour) we decided to have a low-key dinner. We ventured out to the Eminou area which was convenient for us given where our hotel was situated. The street in lined with many small restaurants. Every owner is seeking business and is
inviting you to look at their menu. Most served similar dishes (seafood) and likely had their own specialty. Since we are vegetarian, we were looking for a place that offered something for our diet. We specifically wanted to try Pide (a local “open calzone” type of dish). Our options were
limited, this place looked clean, and it had comfortable seating. We found a few options which was more than enough for us. We ended up ordering the cheese Pide and a vegetable Kebap pot (clay pot with mixed veggies in a gravy) served with rice. The Kebap pot seemed to be a cool
and popular dish at this restaurant. They cook your entree (we had veggies) in a sealed clay pot, on a flame table side. The pot is set on fire and shifted around. Once finished, the server cracks the pot in a bowl to serve you the contents. We were pleasantly surprised by this simple dish. It was loaded with veggies and offered a lot of flavors. The staff was very polite and spoke English. Because this was a “street restaurant” it had a local vibe, seating was outside along the street.
Chicken Sophia dish was marvelous! Very friendly service. Reasonable price. They are not pushy at all. Happy that we chose this restaurant tonight.

So delicious fasulye and Rice
Food, ambiance and service were great. Helpful and friendly staff made our visit an enjoyable one. They were comfortable to explain everything in English. Quality of food and the way it was served made the whole package worthwhile and prices seemed reasonable.
Eclectic, Colorful, Charming and Beautiful with delicious food. Great place for your meal. We had our first meal in Istanbul here and what a delight it was.
Service and hospitality was great and food was superb. This place is in a very busy area of Fatih with lots of tourists but the price at this place is very decent, comparatively. Dinner meal for 3 people will set you back 250TL - 300TL.
Highly recommend this place if you are in and around Sultanahmet, Hagia Sofia area.

2023 Update: came here again. Same hospitality and service. Love it.
Tried some different dishes. Good tasting food in a nice setting by the road.
Escape the busy location and eat in peace.

Be careful, fraud!!!
You will be cheated in that place!

They have just tried to fool me by putting in the check wrong prices for our dishes!
Also they included starters that was “complimentary”.

After I required to show the menu again, they declined, saying that the dishes in the menu cooks with different ingredients, than one they prepared for me.

Also be ready, that they will dare to included some kind of “tax” in the check, which by their words is common (that is an absolute lie).

Don’t visit that place if you don’t want to ruin your day.
Best Dry Beans in the whole world
No toilet (how is it possible in a restaurant / Cafe???), no wifi, dirty tables and broken chairs, homeless people come to you and want money and waiters do nothing about it. They want to get rid of you as soon as you finish eating. Very small and expensive wrap with little inside
I asked for nazik meal I got a wired meal somehow looks like it but not realy it wasn’t in the menu so it’s a creation May b good thing is that they r Late opening Restaurant more than that not worth , service depend on how u dress up !!!

I really do recommend this place if you're into experiencing a true vibe of turkish culture.
The food is perfect, for example Meat Doner combined with this good çay (tea) and the watermelon hookah. The waiter was really friendly in the same time the owner(I suppose) is too.
Don't hesitate to come here and have a great time!

First, the guy on the counter is very rude. We were first in line and trying to order for 5 minutes (I couldn’t even complete my sentence before being interrupted by someone else, for at least 5 times)
To go upstairs, you need to order their expensive plates items (1 plate per person). Two of us ordered a chicken wing (25TL) and a cup of tea (7TL). Then the rude guy just said 55TL. Trying to get an explanation but it fell on deaf ears as he attended to other requests, again. Furiously, we just walked out.
I also saw a lady trying to use their toilet but got mercilessly chased out.
Adding the photo here to make sure NO ONE goes there anymore.

I am giving one star, because is mandatory - Otherwise will be zero!
Worst place ever! IF If you want to avoid a headache, DONT GO THERE! THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY! -
We were 5 people and everyone asked for a dish that according to the menu, would cost just 16TL + some sodas and chips, Not more than 30TL each. At the end they were asking asking to pay 420TL :O It was just ridiculous!! We checked carefully the menu and try to explain to the cashier, surprising they were charging 40 TL for service hahaha "International service" he said. The food and the service was not even good to pay that amount. Even worst, the waiter at the end decide to pretend that he does not speak English to do not check the bill for us, it was pretty frustrating and humiliating to be there, at the end we could reduce a bit the amount but decided to leave because we were really tired of fighting for money. What a shame.
Please dont go there, I do not recommend this place at all!

Don’t go here.! They cheat tourists of money. They overcharge tourists by placing beard baskets even when not asked for and charge 10TL for it. Food is expensive and subpar.

An american woman walked in for kunefe and was charged double for it by the guy at counter.
Very good food. Only serves Turkish style Fasulye (beans) and Pilav (rice). A definite must try.
