The food isn't good enough for what they charge, and they have roaches. Big ones and little ones crawling about. The people are nice.

My family’s favorite Japanese restaurant in Long Island! We’ve been coming here to dine over 15+ years. Authentic Japanese food and great quality sushi.
They bring out edamame to start.

Sushi A is my go-to dish and every time it’s consistently good. Our favorite is white fish teriyaki. Texture of fish and sauce is to die for. Tempura udon is just perfect from broth to udon to tempura.
Fluke ponzu roll is so fresh. It comes with sauce on the side.
Many sushi combo and entrees come with miso soup or salad and they are so delicious.
We finish our meal with green tea ice cream. It’s perfect for weekday quick dinner or fun weekend dinner with friends and family.
Highly recommend Yamagucci restaurant.

Unpretentious savory delight. These words probably best describe and define a fine (and old) sushi restaurant in the heart of Port Washington area. This restaurant is located directly across from the LIRR station, so it makes sense for commuters to fall in love with this place.

However, you will immediately find out that this place is enamored by locals and tourists alike. I never lived in Port Washington, but this is one of my favorite sushi restaurants. No other place simply can catch up with Yamaguchi in terms of culinary excellence and the value. They just raised the price is Sushi A set substantially to $27. But where in NY can you get 8 pcs of top-notched nigiri + tuna roll. And a bowl of miso soup? And complimentary edamame? Please enlighten me if you know who can outcompete.

Seriously we need Yamaguchi in every town of America. It’s an understatement when I say I am getting sick of $150 omakase place taking over every major US cities. I don’t need golden spoon, I don’t need caviar on the torched salmon. I just need some good sushi meals under $30. Thank you Yamaguchi!

Jia is literally one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in my life. The food is elevated and delicious - the drinks are also out of this world - the service is the best! If you want a once in lifetime experience go here - we had the crystal shrimp shumai, the pork buns, the soup dumplings , the yellow fin tuna salad, the Szechuan beef and the veggie fried rice! All were the best you’ll ever have. The drinks are just as beautiful as they are delicious - we will be back again and again - tell all your friends - bring them because it will be something to talk about - and the Peking duck is worth every penny - we had it before with friends and it’s an experience all its own as is the duck broth shooter served prior. I highly recommend this place!!! Run!!!!

TLDR: Quaint little neighborhood sushi restaurant. Small place so make a reservation. Spicy Dumpling Soup, Toro/Ikura Roll, Grand Wazoo and JUNGLE LOVE.

I'm not sure how we ended up here but we came in for a Friday night. A few locals recommended it but I was pretty skeptical to be honest. The menu just read like something I don't care for but figured let's try it out.

It's small but dark and cool for a local date around town. We tried the cocktails, both had yuzu and they were pretty solid. The Spicy Dumpling Soup was very flavorful, kind of reminded me of instant noodle soup base with dumplings but not in a bad way - it was tasty.

Truffle fries and yogurt were solid. Spicy tuna crispy rice was standard.

Toro/ikura roll. The ingredients do the heavy lifting but this was great. Fatty, nice pops of salty brinyness from the roe, not too much rice.

Grand Wazoo. Spicy scallop, torched squid? Very interesting and very delicious.

Jungle Love. I don't know what this was supposed to be. An obscure list of ingredients but this thing was TASTY. Shrimp, avocado, goat cheese, brussel sprouts, imitation crab, tuna. As strange as this sounds - this baby slapped. Most memorable bites of the night.

I went in doubtful and left knowing I'll be back. Cheers.
They always have good, fresh seafood, reasonably priced and have cooked sushi options. Service is very good too.

Highly recommend. I love the ambiance inside, the space is a bit small which gives them the time & attention necessary for every order. Each dish is a symphony of flavors that leave your tastebuds satisfied. Grateful to have a spot like this so close-by. The best quality sushi on Long Island, and some of the best I’ve had overall.

I would have given this place 5 stars however, the service was really bad. I'm not sure if they are understaffed or not but the white girl with blonde hair who checks people in at the front had a bad and smug attitude and didn't really care. Then the waitress was super busy and kept telling us to wait in the middle of us telling her our order, she would run off and not come back after a long time. She did apologize each time she came back though, maybe they are just understaffed and I felt like she was overwhelmed and busy.

The food was REALLY good!! Their General Tso's Cauliflower, Fluke Carppacio, Crispy Rice Tuna and the yellow tail was amazing! Their Sushi plate was amazing as well! With a little more improvement they can really become a NYC Michelin level sushi restaurant. The ambiance was nice but could use a little more work. All the guys working behind the sushi counter were very nice, friendly, quick, and did an amazing job!.

when i tell you jia BLEW my mind in terms of what dim sum can be- it was absolutely stunning… each and every dish was a masterpiece both visually and flavor wise. there was not a single item that wasn’t perfect… the hot and sour soup is really what my dreams are made of (they put crispy rice on top, which is genius). the rice rolls and the soup dumplings are amazing… highly recommend too. the peking duck was also out of this world.. the flavor was spot on and crispy.

the service and ambiance were beautiful- totally unassuming from the outside, but when you enter, it’s a perfect, almost scandinavian dining room. every staff that we interacted with were so friendly and welcoming. I cannot this recommend jia enough & will try to come back as soon as possible (worth the trip from Manhattan)!
Food is always good. The staffs are very generous. It is a great place to have a dinner with family.

My husband and I come to Tiga frequently and it is always A+++. Absolutely everything we’ve ever gotten there is amazing. From the specials, to the apps and the rolls it never disappoints. The Dynamo Hum roll has become my favorite sushi roll of all time, anywhere. The staff is always so nice and welcoming. Reservations are def needed as it is a cozy, small place with great ambiance. My husband and I always look forward to coming here :)
Great food, pleasant service, awesome atmosphere. The fish always keep fresh. Definity, my first choice. I love to have sushi here.

I never write reviews but I felt this place deserved it. The Yellowtail Asian Pear was possibly the best thing I’ve ever tasted. I consider myself a foodie and would say that dish was absolutely incredible. I ordered 2 on Wednesday and went back on Friday and had 3 lol. It was an experience and the quality of the food was excellent.

I told them in the restaurant but I'll put it here too: this was one of the best restaurants I've ever been to in my life. The cocktails were perfectly balanced and the bartender personally expressed his love for bartending and serving quality drinks. All of the wait staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was other-worldly; and I found myself wanting more of everything even when I was full. It is a small venue, so reservations are highly recommended. It's also pretty pricey, but coming here for special occasions is absolutely worth it. Can't wait to come back in a few months!

I lament the demise of the mighty diner on Long Island. Once mighty 24 hour oasis’s that drew in patrons like sailors to sirens in tales of yesteryear. So finding this little gem in Port Washington was a happy treasure. Service was courteous and prompt. The family atmosphere was warm and inviting. Portions and prices were great. I am one that values what I get for my money. This place did not disappoint. You won’t leave hungry. My breakfast came out quick and it was piping hot. I normally don’t eat the toast but ended up eating both slices- with jelly even. I always say eat what is worth eating. Please give them a try, it’s right across from the port Washington train station. You won’t be disappointed. Check out the photos, it was even better in person
This is my first ordering from Port Thai Place. I ordered drunken noodles and Tom Yum soup. The noodle dish was very salty and the portion was very small. Hardly any noodles in the order. The soup was ok. Probably won't order from them again.

Was in the neighborhood and figured since I was near the shore to have lunch at a place with ambience. Butler's Flat Clam Shack was ambience along with good food. Fortunately, there wasn't too long of a line when I got there though ordering took a bit long as there is just one person at the window taking orders. Upon initial inspection, the lobster roll looked really small for the price but it was absolutely delicious and actually pretty filling. My kids got grilled cheese and the kids burger which they were fine with. The clam chowder was good, nothing to write home about yet we finished it. Nothing beats eating fresh seafood with a water view and the staff were all kind and attentive. I saw one asking a couple of women who had finished their lunch and were just chatting to politely let someone else have the table which made sense since there were people literally standing around with trays of food and nowhere to sit. This tells you how good the food is. I will definitely be back to try something else from the menu.

I had taken my grandson twice to Haven Diner for breakfast and the experience was excellent. Great service. Friendly atmosphere. Yesterday, we went for breakfast and the experience was terrible. Our waiter, Chris Ramires, appeared to resent having to wait on us. I spilled a glass of water, for which I profusely apologized, and we were then put in a booth way in the back, as if it were a punishment. Chris proceeded to wait on customers who arrived after us, while we sat in the back. We had ordered a cappuccino at the first table at which we were seated. Finally, Cris arrives, unsmiling, annoyed, and we order pancakes. The pancakes arrive but one of the busboys had to ask Cris if he was waiting for the cappuccino, which arrived after my grandson was done with his pancakes. It was cold and the whipped cream had melted into the coffee. Clearly, Cris decided we were unworthy of good service. When I paid, he was manning the register, and he had the audacity to ask about his tip.

One rude waiter can ruin a dining experience. I called and was told he was a new employee. We will not be returning to Haven Diner.

Nice local place for a lobster roll , clam chowder or some fried shrimp. This place is very organized with seating ( order first ) and the lines goes pretty fast. Burger was a little well but your not coming here for a burger. Lobster roll and the view period…
Went there with a party of 8 on a late Saturday afternoon and the staff were very kind to us. They managed to seat us within a couple of minutes right by the water which was amazing. The food there was really good too, it is pricey but the atmosphere around you makes it worth it. I highly recommend the fried scallops platter, they’re crispy on the outside and the inside melts in your mouth like butter. The fried clams and the clam chowder were great as well. The shrimp tacos are a nice simple snack to get and a safe option for anyone who’s maybe not into seafood. I would say that the lobster rolls maybe needed a bit of seasoning on it or a sauce on it but the lobster itself is quality. I would definitely come here again, it’s a great place to bring your friends and family!
Quaint seaside views of Port Washington from this Seafood "shack". Casual dining and reasonably priced menu. Beers and sodas are plenty. Desserts are few, just two options. Come for the seafood and to enjoy the beautiful outdoor seating. Order first then you get seated by a staff member. Table sharing is possible if they are very busy. Must try the NE Clam Chowder, Lobster Roll, and Baked Sea Scallops platter, served with farro and vegetables.
Great food - lobster rolls, crab rolls, some other fish and seafood dishes, burgers, tasty fries. Eat in the outdoor setting overlooking the docked boats. Staff was friendly and efficient.

This would have been 5 stars not long ago. We love supporting this restaurant but sadly the last few times there's been zero protein in our orders. For example, green curry chicken is mostly egg plant and so few pieces of chicken in it - I'd rather be upcharged for protein than headfaked. All four main dishes last night had little to no protein.

The food here is always delicious! The sushi and sashimi combo is worth the price and super fresh. The tonkatsu is always a good choice and cooked crispy. They give big portions for the soba noodles and the dipping sauce is seasoned perfectly. Service may be a bit slow, but everyone is kind and the food is worth the wait!
Average seafood shack… good amount of variety. They do have ipswich clams though which is my fav but had better. Long lines on weekends, nice place to dine outdoors. Self-Serve.
This was a great little place on the Manhasset Bay. Had the lobster roll that had a great buttery bun. My friends had burgers and clam chowder, and everyone enjoyed it.

Cannot recommend Jia enough! Everything we ordered was excellent and the staff was superb.

We started with the hot & sour soup, which was one of the best soups I’ve ever had. The crystal shrimp dumplings were great as well.

For mains we went with the stir-fried lobster with noodles and the seafood fried rice. These were both delicious and would highly recommend.
Tonight I had the pleasure of dining at a sushi restaurant where I was treated with utmost care and respect as a blind diner. From the moment I entered the restaurant, I was embraced by an atmosphere of inclusivity and warmth. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was exceptional, making this sushi restaurant stand out as a shining example of hospitality and accessibility. The restaurant staff demonstrated remarkable sensitivity and understanding towards my visual impairment. They took the time to explain the layout of the restaurant, guiding me through each step and ensuring that I felt comfortable and safe in my surroundings. Their patience and willingness to assist me made me feel welcome and valued as a customer.

I came on a Friday at the insistance of a friend. I tried the edamame dumplings, soft shell crab salad, the sushi platter a toro roll and their Yuzu cocktail. Each dish had a very familiar yet surprising taste. It definitely is not your traditional sushi but a fresh and new innovative take on the cuisine. The pairings of sauces and flavors are on point. Each individual bite has so many levels of flavor that it is indescribable. There's also a very good attention to service. Our waitress, Jennifer, was attentive and took her time to explain each and every dish so that even a sushi novice would feel at ease. I can't wait to go back.
Got the sushi for 2 . It's more of the value of I were to get these on separate order. Service was standard and the waitress were friendly. The soup came with it. The seaweed and tofu were fairly abundant compare to other places. The sushi were nicely presented and not bad. It's in the 4 stars category for the price. The only 1 star I took off was the rice were a bit large for the sushi. Compare to a Japanese own one, the portion and vinegar were right one point. So the rice part in the sushi 🍣 can be improved. Otherwise it's good place And will come back.
It is one of the few authentic Japanese restaurants in Long Island. Some of the reviewers here have not been to Japan I have. As well as most of the top Japanese restaurants in NYC and the country. some of the reviewers are used to cheap sushi from other ethnicities pretending to be Japanese.
The only reason for 4 stars is they don't have uni. They only have standard fish.
But it is very fresh and I have been going for years and BTW I live in the city as Long islanders like to call it. But I have dealings in LI.
Updated review:
If you go after rush hour (lunch), you will find a table, no problem! I do think you are paying for the scenic view by the water which is quite nice. To have lunch by the boats is very picturesque. High chairs for babies available. They don’t let you reserve tables until you order, which is good and prevents people from hogging seats.

Great spot by the water. A (not so) well kept secret. Terrific lobster rolls and fries. They have other foods too like fried oysters, tacos, etc. Lobster from Maine. Extensive beer and drink selection. I wish this place had more umbrellas so that patrons wouldn’t have to sit in the sun. We ended up sharing a table with strangers which wasn’t bad. Food was delicious but pricey. Came on a weekday. Plenty of parking.
I was very excited to try this place since it had some many good reviews. Maybe it was an off night for the restaurant. We ordered the gyoza appetizer it was excellent but are main dishes were average at best. The sushi was cut too thick in my opinion and I was not impressed with the toro. The service was good and they have us some complimentary fruit.
Best Sushi in Long Island! Super cool vibe and friendly service. The warm mushroom salad is so tasty and I love the different textures. The sushi was super fresh and they even have Toro which is my favorite. Will be going back soon.

Such a great place! My girlfriend and I got takeout yesterday and the staff couldn't have been nicer. While we were looking at the menu at least four people walked in to pick up food and one of them must have been a regular because he was greeted by name. Pictured here is the immaculately crunchy thai chicken wings, drunken noodles with beef, and the mango sticky rice. I appreciated that they asked for my spice level because I see it as a sign of a good Thai place. I ordered it spicy and personally think it could've been spicier but it was very flavorful and was not sweet like other drunken noodles I've had in the past. What was sweet however was the delicious mango sticky rice dessert that I got at the restaurant's recommendation. The wings were SUPERB. One bite in and I knew I'd be back. Delicious and pleasant experience! Can't wait to dine-in when life gets back to normal!

Under new management and it was a delight to have a meal here. They now serve dinner too! Space was bright, clean and all safety protocols for covid was put in place here as well.

They make a proper chocolate egg cream which I was really happy with. And price to portion size is great. The chicken noodle soup is a must order and so is there patty melt and open faced turkey sandwich! Our server was quick, efficient and very friendly and a ton of to go packages were lined up on the counter as well. Great location since it's right across the street from the train station too. Will definitely be back! Eat local!

I ate an awesome Reuben sandwich there one night. Hit the spot! Generous portions and great service from friendly staff. Port Washington has a lot of good options for food, but this place is right next to the LIRR station. Full diner menu with some local options.

Please note that this establishment is under new management. We decided to check it out. We had a horrible experience here. We waited for 20 plus minutes to get water and then another 5 to place an order. The LONE server was trying to get everyone in the entire restaurant and told us she was only there as a favor to the owner. How could they not have any servers! She vented to us and took our order. We then were asked if we wanted any drinks. The coffee was terrible. The food came rather quickly. The eggs were bland, bacon was burnt beyond Burt and almost inedible. The pancakes were ok. The avocado toast was lacking flavor as well. We were quite utterly disappointed and will be sticking to better establishments around town.

My family and I had great, attentive service at this place. Our waitress offered three spiciness options for each of our dishes. I chose the medium level for the vegetable Tom Yum soup and cashew nuts with stir fried tofu entree I ordered. The Tom Yum soup was so flavorful that I didn't mind the spicy kick it gave me with every spoonful I ate. My main entree was delicious and filling. It was presented to me in a beautiful white bowl. The summer roll was tasy and not too oily. It was served with a delectable thick brown sauce made with tamarinds and chopped nuts. We also ordered Leo beer, an import from Tailand. It had a well-rounded taste. The fresh coconut water had pieces of real coconut in it and was very refreshing. We did not order the sticky rice dessert although I've heard that it also is very tasty.

Yamaguchi does a great job of handling massive take out orders and servicing dining customers. Though sushi service can be slow at times but the service itself is amazing. The fish is top-notch and their rice is very well seasoned and moist. The place serves chef's special and that's the best to get in my opinion. Cooked food is pretty good as well especially their egg (tamago), which might be the best one around. Recommend calling ahead for weekend reservations.
