Perfectly cooked steak (temperature)! Flavour profile is pretty basic though without much to differentiate it. Caesar salad dressing isn't Caesar? (Std yogurt vs traditional? I'll ask next time) I'll try again this week. Likely just a rare miss.
Lovely setting and a good steak (missed some oomph and charcoal taste, tbh). Decent (not awesome) options of cuts. The house red wine is very good. The desserts are also good.
On the plus side, they're open until 10pm (kitchen included!), which is an ideal option for hungry travellers!

Great and quiet place. I had the best salmon ever and if you like sweet then the pink dragon cocktail is your go to!
A cosy and quiet place. Food was average. Portion was reasonable. Ordered beef, beer and tea. Price was the costlier side. There was no breakdown of the food items when we paid.
Being in Essen in a business trip, never expected to eat so good sushi. Service is amazing. Highly recommend

The best restaurant I’ve been in in Essen! Great food and wine, and lovely environment! We were very welcomed and the service was exceptional. The waitress was very patience and kind, spoke English perfectly. Definitely coming back - highly recommend.

Really good Italian food for being in Germany.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. While the food may not have been the best I've ever had, it's certainly recommendable for an Italian restaurant outside of Italy. The pizzas and pasta dishes were all quite flavorful. The Tiramisu didn't quite hit the mark for me, though it wasn't bad. The service was relaxed and friendly, and they were notably welcoming to children, which isn't always the case in Germany. The ambiance was authentically Italian, filled with happiness and lively conversation.

The staff's attempt to persuade me to accept it was frustrating, and the delayed response in addressing the issue only added to the disappointment. Moreover, the lack of timely removal of the overcooked steak from the table was unacceptable. I left feeling hungry and dissatisfied. Overall, the poor service and failure to meet basic customer expectations make it difficult to recommend this establishment. As compensation, they did remove the cost of my steak from the bill. However, their persistent attempts to offer schnapps in a pushy manner added to the discomfort of the situation.

This place should be named "waiting" or "patience"... The amount of time we had to wait to order and then received it (just drink!) was unbelievable! And the place was half empty...
Nice little Italia in the heart of Essen. The food is delicious, and everything is ok.
A restaurant I have been visiting regularly since 2015. One of my first choices when I am in Essen. Afghan Rice is my favourite side dish. There is a ‘Halal’ sign.
Food took over 1,5 hours (they forgot not only our reservation but also our food order) and didn't taste like anything special given the price, have had way better food before. The place itself was too loud.

Some dishes were good..some not so. A place like this is never going to provide haute cuisine. Ok if you can eat 6 or 7 courses and are not too concerned about quality.
Wir landeten im Restaurant, weil das andere, in das wir gehen wollten, voll war. Laut einem Gast im Oase war es vor 10 Jahren immer voll. Heute ist es nicht mehr der Fall. Die Bedienung ist einfach unterdurchschnittlich. Andere Gäste bekamen die komplette Speisekarte, wir haben nur den Zettel mit der Tageskarte (ohne Salat etc.). Leider haben wir zu spät gemerkt, wo wir bereits bestellt hatten. Wir mussten sogar darum bitten, eins zu bekommen. Das Essen war köstlich, aber die unfreundliche Bedienung machte den Abend etwas bitter. Leider werden wir nicht noch einmal kommen.
Ich habe immer schon gerne hier gegessen. Das Restaurant ist jetzt unter neuem Management, und der Service ist einfach phänomenal. Extrem aufmerksam und höflich. Die Qualität des Essens ist weiterhin sehr gut. Ich komme nur noch ca. 1x pro Jahr nach Deutschland, mache aber immer gerne einen Zwischenstopp hier.
Visited this restaurant already a few times. Food quality differs a lot. (Especially the sushi quality) Gourmet Hu offers a big buffet with many different Asian cuisine. Staff is really friendly and is really fast. On weekends gourmet hu offers even a all you can eat and drink menu which is in my opinion a good deal.

Lovely place with good food and personnel but 2.5hrs is not enough time for a buffet please, puts one under too much pressure. I suggest more time be given to the customers to relax and enjoy their meal.
1 star only because you always have to wait toooooo long to get your order. If you order beer's in bottle , you wait 20 minutes or more to get them.
Nice to see the sushi being prepared. Staff friendly. The fish were very fresh and tasty.

Was not good experience. First they kick as from section of restaurant with words it is closed. So okey, then we wait 20 minutes to be ordered, while new people siting in previous section and getting orders. Then after we order we got drinks without glasses. I was waiting another 20 minute to get one. Food was average nothing special. Fast food restaurant.
I dont reommend it. They forgot my order. When we made them aware of it, I had to wait for another hour to get my lasagnas !! My group had finished eaten when my order arrived. And then when I told them about it they ordered me to shut down. Finally they told me they would gave a discount and made me pay 177 euros instead of 179 euros...

Good food, but a very busy night (and we were there without reservation) we ended up getting our food 1:30h after we ordered, and one of the orders came wrong. The management granted us one round free beer and some extra sushi.

The food was fresh and delicious. Remember to check what’s the special for the day. Had a great calamari salad and black seafood spaghetti! Really enjoyed them!
Of all Sausalitos i have tried so far, this one is the WORST !!! The waitress not care about what you need at all. I ordered coconut kiss drink - my fav Sausalitos drink & i was so eager for it this Friday. She gave me drink full of or 80% sugar syrup ! I asked her lemon because i felt bad after drinking that half glass syrup , she gave me one big slice lemon - not even sliced properly ! And she charged me full payment for that drink also !!! Wasted my money , wasted my moments , & disturbed my tastebuds !!!

Wir waren zu viert in diesem Restaurant und hatten eine fantastische Zeit! Die Weinauswahl war einfach großartig und hat unsere Geschmacksknospen verwöhnt. Das Ambiente war gemütlich und das Personal sehr aufmerksam. Das fantastische Essen rundete unseren Abend perfekt ab. Das irisches Lamm war zart und aromatisch, die Pasta mit frischen Pfifferlingen war ein Geschmackserlebnis, die Pasta mit Rinderfiletstreifen war einfach köstlich, und die Pasta mit Steinpilzen war ein Genuss. Zum krönenden Abschluss gab es echten italienischen Kaffee. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen! 🍷🍽️☕😊

It is an Afghan restaurant. Meat is not cooked well. It is problem if meat is not cooked. Outside of the meat burned, but is was raw inside. Taste of the rice was not good. I don't recommend!!!!
Price is higher compared to the quantity also they didn't give me any starter! I was surprised. So far I attended 5 Afghani restaurant in Germany but everywhere I got starter but only this restaurant was exceptional!

We came here to take some sushi out. For 5 people the total price was roughly 100 euro, which was really cheap and most of all, they tasted nice. Of course we didn’t expect it to be of so high quality as if in a more dedicated restaurant but for people who would like to grab some sushi and don’t want to spend too much money, this place can be recommended. While waiting i ordered some small food; generally the atmosphere there was friendly and relaxing.
Repeat visit after eight years. Sushi still outstanding, but the portions have deflated a bit. Qualify like this is hard to find.
I loved this restaurant, the fish was super fresh and you could definitly taste the quality. The rice also had a nice flavor and the combo of rice and fish was amazing. I highly reccomend.
Enjoyed the food! A lot of options and they’ll cook some seafood or meat for you, which is great. All drinks are included, huge place and a lot of tables. But be aware there’s a lot of people and kids especially. Not a quiet place to eat. But still nice, we paid 30€ per person for a weekend day

Some of the best sushi I've had. Teriyaki tempura roles were especially delicious.
The inside is a little dated but this doesn't really impact your eating.

Great place for cocktails and night out with friends
It was a saturday evening and it was really crowded as expected. Nevertheless, I reservated for 6 people and we immediately got a nice and cozy table. They have a lot of food and drink to choose from. I had birthday and they suddenly started playing a birthday song and brought me a cocktail, which was a big surprise and a really nice gesture. I also liked the robot cat which brings your cooked food to your table.
Excellent, vary happy: very elegantly and tasty Italian pizza, spaghetti, and dessert, plus Italian beer thats suits well. Friendly staff, acceptable price. Good environment too. My daughter is happy too habha

Fantastic place with the right prices, right food and right people. I felt welcomed and I was very pleased with the food and service. I have been in Italy and I have traveled the world a little bit. My point is that it was perfect! Oh, and excellent English speaking service ⚠️ If you are reading this and you are looking for a nice place for you or a corporate group - book that one.

Good for the price range. Not spectacular food but not bad either. Wine selection better than expected. Service was really good in particular. Would return to this place as it offered a good overall experience, so an Italian option to consider in Essen.
Very tasty drinks and good music. But very expensive. 2 cocktails (small) and some fries cost 30 euros for us. I would suggest it and will go again though :)
Wonderful place to eat, nice environment, cool & cum. Specifically the foods are very delicious. Nicely decorated. All in all nice place to eat on with your dear and near once.

You get more than expected at this place, for only €24 this buffet is super cheap for the quality and amount of food you get. I have never been to an all you can eat buffet with so much variety and quality of food. In that price not only all the drinks are all you can drink, also unlimited wine and 2 Large beers per person. The sushi was at really good quality and taste for an all you can eat restaurant. (And im a sushi lover). They have live cooking which is amazing, you can choose all the ingredients yourself, they will cook it for you and bring it to your table. Everything was fresh. The chocolate fountain tops it all off, as the desert selection is so big that I couldn’t even try it all. Even the drinks are all in glass bottles and they even have Arizona Tea Bottles and Honest Tea, which is crazy for an all you eat buffet. Can’t wait to be back!
Der Lieferservice ist eine Katastrophe!! Über 2 Stunden Wartezeit ist unzumutbar. Leider nicht das erste Mal - aber es scheint die Betreiber nicht zu stören: trotz mehrfacher Beschwerden ist keine Änderung der Terminlogistik auszumachen. Besser nicht bestellen!!
Did not wait long to be offered, meal arrived promptly. my bro and sis suggested it to me, wasn't disappointed, lovely food and great price as well. Affordable menu prices, would visit here again. Cannot suggest enough! Perfectly cooked food and ingredients fresh. The personnel were definitely immaculately dressed and it had been clear they understood their job very well.

Da wir jetzt bereits das zweite Mal 1 1/2Std. auf unsere Bestellung warten mussten obwohl man uns 45Min. angibt. Haben wir uns entschlossen nicht mehr dort zu bestellen. Very Good grill, balkans art. Portions are very good and generous. Who want s to eat a good grill, visit the restaurant. They also serve Argentine beef. Place is not So pretentious, but for the relathionship betven you paid and you get or have is ****
The service was great, they were very friendly and super fast even though we were a big group. They menu is smaller than most restaurants, but that just meant what they do they do it well. Inside was small and charming.
I stumbled across the restaurant near my hotel and am thankful I did. Amazing staff and the food, especially the African menu, was delightful. Definitely on my list for future visits and I will share with my fellow travelers!

The food is very good and typical for the balcans, so if you miss Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia or you want to try something from there this is the right place.
Also the sraff are very polite and it is calm, you can enjoy yourself without any distractions.

Very good restaurant. Roberto service 5+. Food as expected. Many extras if you are willing to pay more. Good English. Choice of wines very good. Pricey but worthy. In any case do not enter if you're planning to spend less money.

You won’t be deceive by your meal at this restaurant. Staff is polite, professional and friendly. It’a a bit expensive for the size of the plate but quality is there.
This restaurant is located in the old part of Essen or the "Alte Essen". You can take an underground train from the Central Station or the "Essen Hauptbahnhof" to reach this place. Its the top restaurant that I have been to so far. The food tastes amazing. Its also not expensive. There is plenty seats available but they would prefer that you book in advance because sometimes there is a lot of rush. You can also order a tea at the end.

Nice Italian restaurant. No big deal but good and authentic food. No hidden extra fees and polite staff (except one time). In summer a good place to take a look about Rüttenscheider while having a great pizza.
The restaurant which I liked more in the last six months. They provide really a delicious food, specially the Afghan rice is amazing. The grills are tastier. I loved mostly all the food except roll. They provide a special kind of dessert named Firnee, it was great. The people from the restaurant also friendly.
Newly opened restaurant. Good quality meat. Ambiance is very nice. Lots of space inside. So tables aren't crammed next to each other. Dessert was lovely. Especially the hot applecrumble.

We visited for the first time today. Personnel was sweet and the place is beautiful and elegant. Wonderful entrance with Koi Fish and gorgeous inner design. Buffet had great variety on all food categories (sushi was great, other cooked specialties, fried stuff, sweet, veggies, desert, fruit, ice cream, even chocolate fountain, cake and sweets, salads, meat and pasta, potatoes, lots of combinations) and what is most important the taste was stellar. We spent 3 hours in there eating pretty much everything 😂 If you go for the big package (ca 23€ per person) you also have unlimited drinks - big variety there as well. The midday buffet is for 8,50€ if I'm not mistaken. Wonderful atmosphere and even the music interesting and not boring. We are impressed, definitely going again 🙌🌹

Wir waren letzte Woche da Essen und waren mit dem Essen sehr zufrieden. Allerdings hat der Service nach gelassen. Der gute Mann kann leider nicht mehr wie früher. Vor 2 Jahren war es noch bedeutend besser. Das eigentliche Problem scheinen die die Tochter die absolut keine Lust ausstrahlt und der Sohn der ebenfalls nicht so viel Lust hat,zu sein.
Helfen ihrem Vater mit ihrer Anwesenheit eher nicht.
Der Sohn macht zwar alles und das ist okay,aber wirkt eher hilflos. Und die Tochter nimmt kein Blatt vor den Mund und macht Vater und Bruder mit ihrer Unzufriedenheit vor den Kunden an.
Da uns das Essen jedoch immer noch sehr gut geschmeckt hat und wir den Vater sehr sympathisch finden, gibt es 4 von 5 Sterne von uns.

Pretty small restaurant, but very good Sushi. Under right weather conditions you may sit outside. The meals are made fresh, prices are mid-level. Quite friendly service, just cash will be accepted. I would come back.
Der Laden nicht gut gepflegt; im hinteren Teil des Restaurants sah es zum Teil unordentlich aus, kann auch daran liegen dass gerade renoviert wird. Preis, Wartezeit, Essen und Bedienung war zufriedenstellend von daher würde ich es weiter empfehlen.
Absolut und unter gar keinen Umständen empfehlenswert. Finde selbst 1 Stern ist hier schon zu viel des Guten. War mit meiner Freundin am Sonntag in diesem Lokal essen. Wir mögen beide mexikanische Küche sehr gerne. Wir bestellten ein Bourrito bekamen ein undefinierbaren Bourrito. Im Prinzip war es ein Weizenfladen mit Käse gekochten Schinken und mit massig Pfirsich gefüllt. Alles andere als wir gewohnt waren. Die Bedienung war unhöflich im Verhalten. Ihr war es wichtiger ihre Freunde zu begrüßen und bevorzugt zu behandeln statt eine Getränkebestellung von uns auszuführen. Sie stand lieber bei ihren Freunden und unterhielt sich in aller Seelenruhe bis sie deren Bestellung abgeben konnte. Danach bequemte die Dame des Hauses sich unsere Bestellung aufzunehmen. Wer nun gedacht hätte wir würden nun unsere Getränke bekommen Fehlanzeige. Stattdessen wurden Gläser mit Wasser befüllt und mit Rosenblätter sowie ein Teelicht dekoriert. Optisch schön doch eigentlich sollte der Gast vorrangig sein. Wir bedauern sehr, daß das Essen und der Service extrem schlecht geworden ist. Bei Pronto gab es das nicht!! Ein absolutes no go und wir werden demnächst doch wieder ein weiter Weg auf uns nehmen um vernünftiges mexikanisches Essen zu bekommen. Pizzerien gibt es in Werden wie Sand am Meer Pronto hebt sich damals mit mexikanischen Essen daraus hervor. Fazit nicht nochmals

They serve authentic japanese food in a lovely small restaurant with a cozy, warm atmosphere. The staff is very polite and friendly. The quality of the food is very good, especially for the price.
I'd highly recommend this to anyone who likes sushi and other Japanese cuisine or would like to give it a try.

The food was fresh, cooked perfectly upon order and tasted great.
The owner is very friendly and also very accommodating. I had a late day at work and wanted a large Macedonian salad, which was not on the menu, he said no problem and made me a perfect large salad that filled me up.
If you want great food in a quaint little restaurant I recommend this place!
