We needed to change our booking by increasing numbers twice in the week before our Sunday lunch and Tracy was very accommodating each time, we had an amazing lunch and will definitely be back soon👏👏👏

Worst roast dinner I've ever been served. Tiny portion (2 roasties), gravy was like water and the whole meal was tasteless. Such a disappointing Sunday lunch. I would've asked for a refund (we paid upon ordering) however there was no service, no staff to ask and no-one came to ask if everything was ok.

Haven't been here in quite some time and I have to say we were thoroughly impressed. We have a non neurotypical child and I can honestly say we have never had such good service as what the hostess provided. Food was exceptionally good and the atmosphere lovely. Only noticed they were dog friendly whilst there so will definitely return with our dog in the future. Thank you for a delightful meal

I took my sister in law, who is visiting from Australia, for lunch today. She was very impressed with her meal, as was I with mine. Both dishes were amazing; delicious and prepared exactly to order. The service provided by Harriet was especially outstanding, friendly, efficient and she went the extra mile to accommodate my off the menu dietary needs. I cannot praise her enough for her patience and all she did, so that I could have an enjoyable meal. Thank you Harriet - I left a happy customer.

Great table for our family Christmas get-together next to the wonderful open fire, and a friendly welcome.
Starters and most mains were good (fish pie was average), sweets were average quality.

Lovely place to eat. Great staff. We were a party of 9 and I made a mistake on the dinner orders. They didn't hesitate to change the order and brought a different dinner through without question. Highly recommend The Hornbrook.

Nice country pub, traditional old pub inside at the front. There is plenty of dining room towards the back. Visited on a Sunday evening and had a delicious roast dinner. Nice pint of Long Man bitter ending with coffee and small sweet.

First visit here and not overly impressed.
Staff ok but failed to ask if we would like any coffee after our meal.
Two of the hot puddings were "off the menu" due to running out of sauce to top them.
Waiting staff did not mention any specials of the day, which we saw on the board on the way out.

Both the vegetarian roast meals were not very hot, but we couldn't be bothered to ask for them to be reheated.

Why can restaurants serve hot food?

Not very likely to return.

Steak was awful. Very tough, another meal was offered but I had to leave promptly. Was given a 15% reduction and didn't have the energy or time to take things further...I understand you can't keep steaks ready at room temperature but I think other restaurants manage to produce acceptable steak meals. Perhaps it is the quality of the steaks or the way they are cooked. I could do much much better at home and at a fraction of the cost.

As always, an honest review:
We stopped off here and decided to chance it, en route to somewhere else.
Food was delicious, couldn't fault it. Staff were also super friendly and accommodating. The venue itself is lovely to sit in both outside and inside. I can imagine had it not have poured down, it would be a lovely place to sit and eat and drink for hours.

Not so great bits: the Kids menu wasn't the most "child friendly" for maybe pickier eaters, and not a vast amount of choice for kids.

All in all 9/10. Only scoring a point down because they didn't have the kids first choice available, and there were only really 3 other options.

We went on a Sunday afternoon, there was a live band setting up. Originally we were seated in the bar area directly in front of them. Although very good they were also very loud being directly in front of us. The staff kindly moved us to somewhere more suitable so we could talk as a family.
I love that the pub does live events / quizz nights. But equally I'm glad we were able to be moved to a more quiet area. The food as always was very good.
