The YMCA of cross Island was amazing. My daughters 8th birthday party was fantastic. The staff was friendly, and very helpful. Diane was the best. She helped me set up for the party and was available to answer all my questions that I had via email or phone. I would recommend this facility to have your childs pool party because not only was it cheaper than other swim schools but they went above and beyond. Thank you again Diane.

The gym room smells like feet all the time. The parents wear their shoes in the pool area all the time and the staff ignore you when you tell them about it. The locker rooms and bathroom facilities are extremely old , smelly and need to be updated

Amazing personal trainer who also offers meal plans and group classes

It seems interesting 🤔 thank you

Very un respectful from desk person called Anna, she was on the phone when I got there, bad attitude and rude girl for no reason, you should select good personal for this type of business, totally disappointed

Even though is expensive, it’s very clean, no people showing off doing weights. I give it a 4 because of the parking, def have to take subway

I remember when the Ymca was really for the community but now it's only about the $$. The ymca is the most expensive gym in ny(besides lifetime fitness). The Jamaica Y used to feel like a family gym but then management changed and Cedric drew became to money hungry and the local teenagers get harassed when they try to enter the gym to play basketball or workout. R.I.P AL you were a great person

Swim camp takes up all the slots for for pool access for PAYING CUSTOMERS. These jokerd charge as much as a regular gym but limits the time you can swim. Glad i cancelled my membership.

Excellent YMCA! Clean and organized. Staff and swimming is great! Renovated bathroom at the ground floor looks great for the members. Keep up the great work!

In response to the review about racist staff, it is best to continue going to further aggravate the racists and if they amp up the racism, whip out the video phone, take video, then file a lawsuit. I'll continue to frequent this gym especially if it is racist and bring more people who they hate just to annoy them. Remember, the staff members do not own YMCA.
Riddle me this: there goes the neighborhood is what they say. They journeyed to return, yet the houses are $600k and above. Gentrify the place that was once home to dwell among the despised 🤯

The lady at the front desk is extremely racist. She let her white friends in the gym without scanning in but yelled and tried to embarrass me when I scanned in. If u r a black person please find another gym. The staff at the ymca will follow you around and try to make you uncomfortable.

I am a homeless artist - activist living in the YMCA on Parsons in Jamacia Queens, know for fighting systemic oppression within the shelter system.
6 shelters, 10 months, 3 assaults. I’m a painter known for giving free painting in exchange for clothes, food and toiletries to the homeless people
While my issue hasn’t been with the YMCA.
There is a staff member by the name of Robert who works in the cafeteria who lacks compassion & empathy.
Often times rude and combative with the homeless people during meal time hours.
On several occasions has denied food for homeless people not wearing mask.
As well as even when a homeless person is wearing a mask and ask for seconds, he denies them food.
Today a member of the community delivered meals to me to share with others. When I ask him for plates and utensils, he said no.
This is an on going issue, I am imploring all residents to complain against mistreatment from staff, by way of city complaints.
We are to be treated fairly and with compassion and respect.
Are we to eat with our hands, when there is a fully stocked cafeteria? Is this part of the mission of the Young Men’s Christian Association to make people feel as though they can’t ask for help or they will be turned away?
Sad that I am fight for the injustice of having access to paper plates and a plastic spoon, when there are a million things I could be fight.
An addition I witness a shelter client gift Robert with a box of tea.
If he is enforcing rules set by facility of not giving utensils.
He is most certainly breaking code of conduct and policies set by the YMCA by accepting gifts from clients.

We were at this gym for some months. The rooms and pool are clean and well maintained. Staff are very polite and hospitable. Crowd is very good. Child care is only available for 2 days a week which for us was a problem since we have a toddler.

I moved to this neighborhood 6 mos ago, I use their pool at least 3x a week to keep my body conditioned for my free dives. The pool schedule is similar every week, just have to stop by and get the schedule printed out or call the office. Nice and pleasant staff. My only complaint is there is no heat in the women’s locker room/bathroom which is not great because after swimming I find myself shaking as soon as I get to the locker room.

I just joined again, I was a member in the past with a family membership, and my son went to after school there when little. I moved from the area and joined local gyms. But this is the one, so much more to get evolved in as well as a comfortable atmosphere, the hours are great I get to work out before I start work at 9 am, no more excuses! 😁

This trainer is the best! He’s motivating and pushes you to limits your didn’t know you could reach!

Ymca member on and off since 1976. This local has undergone many changes over the years. Right now since the onset of the pandemic many amenities like the steam room and sauna that members really enjoyed have ben indefinitely suspended. The costs of general membership has continued to rise causing many longtime members to flee to cheaper clubs who are charging less than half the price of what the Y is charging. Some not all of the staff are very disrespectful and dismissive of members. Upper level management are a lot better than some of the folks they hire. I have kept coming since the re-opening on Oct 5th because it is very convenient for me especially with the winter approaching. However if full services are not restored within the next two months I to will be moving on. The Y is usually empty in the morning when come and when i return home from work I look with curiosity to see if anyone is in the work out area and I never see anyone. If these trends continue I can only assume that the general membership will soon be cancelled. I have reached out to the executive director with my concerns through his email address over two months ago ,but have yet to receive any kind of response. Loyalty should not be treated so shabbily .

Facility is pretty clean. Staff is weird Gym closes at 10pm, for the membership to b $75 a month. You don't get a guest pass and the membership raises every year

Love the bootcamp classes & boxing

Great Trainersb tThree trainers were actively working with their clients. Equipment and atmosphere were adequate. We

He is the BEST!!
