So if you are looking for an on plate of fast food Chinese food. Maybe head over, their portions do not match the price or freshness of food. Their soups are reasonable at best. Original Asian flavor is gone replaced by a heavy lime flavor. I bought the shrimp soup and to get 4 medium size shrimp, overcooked noodles and given a to go serving when I clearly sat down at the restaurant it's outrageous. I have rated places where their soup is equally priced but you get more meat and the noodles are not over cooked. The only good thing was the temperature of the broth was the way I like it . I would only stop here in extreme emergency

Delicious food and huge portions. I’ve been coming here since I was a little kid, before it moved. I live and Palm Springs and it’s worth the drive.

I was sadly disappointed with the food here. After reading some of their reviews, I was expecting the food to be fantastic but it was underwhelming to say the least. The rice was dry, the spring rolls soggy inside, and the chicken a bit dry. The only descent item was the chowmein. The service was great. The atmosphere a bit dingy but I’m one of those people that believe most “hole in the wall” spots have the best food so that didn’t bother me. I work nearby and often eat out for lunch so I was hoping this would be a new favorite but I’ll definitely not be eating here again.

I just saw one of the ladies who serve food eat with her hands. Shove food into her mouth, lick her fingers and go back to serving food without washing her hands or wearing gloves. My boyfriend just ran into the bathroom to 🤢 throw up 🤮!

Plus, we got an attitude when we ordered the lunch special.

A high quality ingredients, friendly staff, great portions, all at an affordable price. This is an excellent Chinese steam kitchen. They have a variety of dishes and the quality is that of a formal sit down restaurant. The wonton soup is fantastic, packed with quality ingredients and large wontons. My family loves eating here. Every time we have enjoyed our meals.

Food was delicious.
I ordered 1 item combo plate. The chow mein was thick how I like it and the mushroom chicken tasted great.

I did go before noon so everything was fresh.
The ladies that helped me were nice.

If what you seek is a takeaway box absolutely jam-packed with goodness at a very reasonable price, you've come to the right place.

The egg flower soup is delicious. The hot n sour is a little too sweet for my liking, but that's a matter of preference. I had a shrimp dish that was delicious and my sweetheart really liked his kung pan chicken. The veggie rolls are perfect!

The place is clean and well-organized. It's perfect for an inexpensive meal with your family.

And above all, the people who work here are the sweetest. They take good care of you and take pride in what they do.

I definitely recommend this place!

Quality quick service Chinese food is a dime a dozen, but none come as close to sit-down quality food as Chinatown Express does!

Fresh, huge potions, and such great service, there’s not much more to say! You can taste the tang in the orange chicken. You can bite into the broccoli or carrots from the veggies and actually feel a crunch instead of mush. The beef in the broccoli beef was cooked well and had amazing flavor! The teriyaki chicken was grilled so it had amazing char! Drinks are priced quite well too! In all it’s a downright hole-in-the-wall worth going to and worth supporting!

Foods good but I had no idea until I went to another panda express that this particular restaurant always had put rice or veggies underneath your protein spot, so less orange chicken/teriyaki and more rice/veggies because it's underneath your protein where you really don't notice till you're done. Annoying really

This review is specifically because of the manager Jocelyn. I really hate wasting my time with a complaint but it really is an upsetting matter for my family. My mother came in and she is a Hispanic women late 40’s non English speaker at that. As she was ordering she forgot the name of one of the items so she proceeded to point through the glassy Jocelyn was taking her order and completely ignored my mother and would not look up instead asked “what’s that”. My mother then asked her to look up to what she was pointing at because she could not remember or pronounce it. Jocelyn then went back and starting chatting and mumbling with another male worker and laughing while looking back at my mother. My mother then asked Jocelyn why she was manager with such an attitude and bad etiquette. Jocelyn rudely responded by saying she was the manager and could do what she pleases. Really Jocelyn? They did end up exchanging some words and as my mother was leaving she grabbed her food and Jocelyn then said “hope your food sits well”. Now obviously that’s very sarcastic and a passive aggressive insinuating something. Of course my mother wrote to corporate and let them know thee issue and informed her she is not the only one who has complained about her. No surprise there right. They did send her coupons for 2 free meals but the bad experience will still stay and she will no longer go there. You can bet if I was there to speak to Jocelyn and stand up for her she would have never treated my mother this way. Avoid the bad attitudes and map a different panda with better customer service and a an actual good manager :)

The food was gross. I've never tasted teriyaki chicken that gave off a pungent burnt oily taste. 🤢 It seriously made me question what kind of meat that was for it to taste like that. We ended up just tossing our whole combo plates in the trash. I would definitely not recommend this place.

This was my first time eating here as ive eaten at a different hong kong express and their food is always delicious! The food I received from this particular one this time was way too salty. The hot chicken wings were good though. The fried rice, chow mein and orange chicken was the saltiest of those item ive EVER had in my life. Dont think i will eat here again. For what its worth the food looked great....tastes fresh and they are EXTREMELY generous with their portions!

I've been here a lot of times in the last few years and this place seems to be consistent with the food and the amount they serve you.

Update: WOW! They must save SO MUCH money by halfheartedly giving you a third of a scoop as an entree. My double entree fit in the single small portion, without touching the lid.

You can ask, plead, get on your knees and beg, you can even start and end every sentence through ordering and paying with "can I please got some soy sauce" and it won't make a lick of difference because they'll refuse to remember.

You could force them to, refusing to leave until the sauce is dropped in your bag, and by the time you get home, you'll realize it was chili sauce they gave you instead, just to get you to leave.

Their rice is literally inedible without any, so why are they so determined to save their .5 cents per customer and not include the necessary sauces?

Just got some chow mein and orange chicken, I really liked the chow main, but the orange chicken was way too 6 after I was done, it left a nasty taste, but it was good

Came in for a meal but was teally disappointed that this place doesn't offer water cups even for dine in guests. Several people were also upset by this that were in store today. I don't drink sodas, sugar free or sweet drinks and was really disappointed by this. I will choose another establishment going forward.

I came to eat here a few days ago and my experience could've been better, I think! Service was quick and the woman working was fast with her hands. Too fast it seemed, because she missed a piece of metal string that was served alongside my food. I don't know if it came from the chow mein or broccoli beef, but a string from those steel sponges was mixed in my food. The beef was pink in some places and cold at the corners, the chow mein tasted stale but maybe that was just me, I also ordered agua horchata and it had a funky taste to it. I lost my appetite half-way through and ended up having to throw away the food, unfortunately. (except the broccoli, that was bomb)

Overall, for my first experience, it was pretty poor and I probably won't come here again. Maybe in the future I'll give it a second chance though!

I usually never have any complaints on the food here but today was not great. There was a hair in my plate and another hair in my boyfriends plate. Luckily I saw the hair on the plate so I was able to remove it but my boyfriend found the hair in his mouth while he was eating and it was a long hair. I’m a little scared and hesitant to come back.

I arrived on time to get my pickup order and they told me it wasn’t ready yet. Took 20 more minutes to finally get it only for my order to be wrong. I drove back to tell them and they kept trying to make it somehow seem like it was my fault. They finally gave in and remade my plate and barely put anything in the plate. Never coming back. Employees are extremely rude.

I ordered online at 2:40 PM and received a message that my food would be ready at 2:50 PM. However, they did not prepare my food and only said that my food was coming out. Finally, when I asked about my food for the second time, they only then prepared my food. In the end, I was able to receive my food at 3:00 PM and the staff was very unfriendly. I probably will not come here again.

Found my new favorite takeout spot! The portions were so big they were spilling out the side, I thought I was back in the South. The sauteed beef and Orange chicken is delicious. But what really makes this place special was the lady that served us. She was so sweet and had the warmest welcoming smile. She stole my heart... lll be back next week

I mean it's Panda Express. What do you want? Honestly I prefer the mom and pop Chinese takeout because they usually have a lot more variety and their prices are better. But if all you got is Panda, well, you take it. Can't complain except prices are a bit high. Food is always consistent and the restaurant is clean with lots of seats.

My regular restaurant closed during COVID. First time coming here, I have not found a place yet that can make good chicken fried rice, well I found it! They were willing to do special order for me, And finally I got some awesome fried rice. So good I had to go back the next day. The steam table had a good assortment of food everything looked fresh and I tasted great. Definitely from what I've experienced the best Chinese food in Orange County. Can't wait to go back again.

Solid cheap Chinese takeout. If you're looking for a quick and cheap bite that is guaranteed to fill you up, this is the place. It seems to be popular, so the food has been fresh most times I've visited. I also appreciate that they load up your plate!

I came here on a review on google. The food really is amazing and the 3 woman who were working at the time were seriously as nice and human as it gets. I really like these people and their food. The price was a lot less than I thought it'd be and I just moved here from seattle last month expecting things to cost a fortune. This place is definitely a great place worth visiting and what you get for under 15$ is a lot. I got the chicken house special with BBQ pork on rice and chow mein.

This has become my go to spot for Chinese fast food. Portions are very generous and flavor is consistent.

I usually get the combo B with just chow mein and double spicy orange chicken. I add a side of BBQ pork and only pay about $13. You can't beat that price considering the amount of food you get.

The spicy beef is also really good or the regular orange chicken. It can get busy on Sundays and on Saturday evenings, but the line moves rather quickly.

They accept debit cards, with an added $.50 fee. FYI

This place is magical! The best Chinese food I've had is years! Absolutely try this place. My husband and I got the dinner special. Both their hot and sour soup and egg drop soups are fantastic. The appetizers came out quick and hot. The true tho was the entrees. The fried rice paired perfectly with the sweet and sour pork.

This was my first time getting take-out from here and let's just say I am beyond impressed! Huge portions and awesome flavor. Their Wonton soup was so good my 2 year old said, "WOW the soup is so good!" I consider myself a Wonton soup connoisseur. I ALWAYS order Wonton soup whenever it is sold at a restaurant. The broth at Chinatown express was rich, sooo full of flavor, and the wonton filling was delicious! I decided to try the salt and pepper wings and I was blown away with the flavor. I haven't enjoyed wings that much in a long time. Their chowmein noodles were fresh and delicious. I also got the Mushroom Shrimp and Mixed Veggies. I liked them so much I didn't even need to put soy sauce on them, and I'm a soy sauce fiend! Also ordered the House Fried rice and it was so full the top of the box wouldn't fully close LOL. My son couldn't get enough of the fried rice. I only gave the service 4 stars because we had to repeat our order about 4 times, but other than that they were very nice. The restrooms were clean and so was the atmosphere of the restaurant. Needless to say, I will DEFINITELY be coming back! Thank you Chinatown Express for such a yummy dinner.

My daughter ordered Chinese from this place. I ordered Kung Pao chicken and is nothing like the real Kung Pao chicken recipe. The only veggies it had was too much celery, 😩 and no peanuts! Plus it was too salty! What a disappointment! Never again will go back.
The Kung Pao veggies are red and green peppers, zucchini, greeen onions, celery and spicy red chillis and the peanuts, a must!. Take note of the real ingredients.

This is the epitome of Chinese fast-food! They have very tasty food, serve it with smiles, even give extra little tidbits, (Which they wouldn't have to do), and they do it all with a big smile!!! They catered my birthday & they ALWAYS do an amazing job! We love eating here!

I have been to a number of Chinese restaurants (fast food, casual, semi casual, upscale) and this is one of the worst places ever with horrible services. I only decided to try it because I was passing through and craving Chinese food. It was the 1st one that caught my eye and I wasn’t really familiar with that area. As soon as I walked in, the spaces were cramped and the interior was filthy. They did not even greet or welcome me. My instincts told me to leave instantly and I should have listened to my intuition. There was an older man changing out the trash bags who was also in my way. The path leading to the register was so narrow and here this fool is blocking my path. I said, “Excuse Me,” and was able to squeeze through when he moved out a little bit unintentionally. He did not even bother to move out of the way out of courtesy so that I could pass through. When it was my turn to order, the stupid man tried to pass me carrying the huge bag of trash nearly hitting me without saying excuse me, sorry, or anything. What is wrong with them??? No common courtesy and no brains either. I had to sit down on the bench just so he could pass through down the narrow path without hitting me. He headed towards the back of the kitchen. He didn’t even wash/sanitize his hands afterwards. It is unsanitary, rude, and brainless of him to do that while customers are trying to order. He could have briefly waited to hold off on that a while considering the narrow spaces. It’s also disgusting because he didn’t clean his hands after handling trash and he could be cooking foods at that point. Then, the woman at the counter rudely took my order, but didn’t listen carefully so she almost gave me the wrong items but I caught it in time. She also tried to rip me off. She also charged me an extra fee just for using my card. Who does that??? I confronted her about my order and the extra fee and told her that nobody else charges extra fees for simply using our cards. She said that all cards require an extra fee if the order is under $10. I said that is so ridiculous. I have seen that mostly Vietnamese and Koreans do that. I heard her speaking Vietnamese (I am familiar with many foreign languages). No other places I frequently go to charges extra fees for using cards and that includes Panda Express, PickUp Stix, or PF Chang’s. This place deserves to be shut down. With bad sanitation and hygienes, I don’t trust the quality and cleanliness of my food. I immediately threw it away after I got it. Did not have the appetite for it anymore. Went to Osaka Japan instead. I love their teriyaki chicken. It’s one of the best and services are excellent too! There are better Chinese fast food places with much better services, food, and integrity. Sadly, there are no good Chinese Fast food places in my area in south OC, so I have to drive to Garden Grove, Costa Mesa, Tustin, or Santa Ana to get some.

Here are some in that area: Hong Kong Express in Costa Mesa, China Town Express (17th & Cabrillo), Spicy Noodle House (Bristol and Alton), China Wok (Euclid & Chapman), Chinese Food Express (Warner & Fairview), Dragon Bowl (McFadden & Harbor).

For a more decent dining experience, try Capital Seafood in Irvine, Din Tai Fung in Costa Mesa, & AnQui Bistro in Costa Mesa. Pricier but good quality authentic Chinese food.

We are pinching our budget nowadays and this place is serving people like me. So much volume that easily last 2-3 meals for me. I had 2 items with kung pao chicken and fried fish. I barely finished 1/3.

Update: After visiting a few other places, I think this place has the best food for the money. I give 5 stars now.

This is the best Chinese restaurant in town and one of the best “fast food” restaurants in town as well. The service is amazing and the food is always consistently good. They also give very generous portions for a decent price. Couldn’t recommend eating here more.

Absolutely love this place! 🥰The New owners did a amazing job! You can smell the food before you even come in! The father is the owner of this place and he is also the chef! That's why the food taste authentic and fresh ! Place is clean ! Friendly and they offer masks for people who may not have one handy and that's a good thing with this whole covid thing going on! Last time I forgot my mask and was sad cause I wouldn't have been able to order without it but luckily he had me covered! Mushroom chicken and 2 eggrolls!😱🤯 Ive never been a fan of eggrolls until I came across this place! Update: restaurant is always clean. They always get you once you walk in, but where's the rest of my large entree?! Got all the way home to find out i was given a medium portion but charged for a large!! How do I get a refund for the difference?! That's pretty annoying being that there's a significant price difference.

THEY TAKE CARD! They used to be cash-only which was a bummer BUT they now take card, with a fee. I think it's 50 or 75 cents, which is kind of steep I know, but I personally don't mind because I love supporting Mom & Pop shops instead of big chains.

Masks required, social distance is enforced, plastic sheet over register, you swipe or enter card yourself, only 1 pen available to sign receipt but hand sanitizer provided.

I don't come here often cuz it's on the other side of town, but I make the trip when I'm in the mood for a special treat. Been a fan since the 90s.
All the typical Mom & Pop Chinese entrees are here and they're yummy, but my go-to is DEFINITELY the House Special Chicken/Jalapeño Chicken; It's pieces of chicken with a wonderful tasting sauce and jalapeños. I have never seen it elsewhere and it's my absolute favorite [my guess is that it's a creation catered to their mostly Mexican clientele, and we love it ;) ].

Plus they REALLY PACK the container. I mean it, they're not skimpy with their portions!

I've been coming here since the day I learned to walk. It's probably the only chinese food I really enjoy in Santa Ana.
My favorite go-to meal is white rice + Chow mein + Jalepeno Chicken + Peppermint Chicken 😋

I've been here thrice and the food and people there have always been great. They fill your plate (styro) to the brim. My toddler loves their rice and noodles. He never got sick in all these visits so I'm sure the food is clean. I was surprised by the 1 star reviews, I don't think they deserve a one-star.

Yo, if you’re almost out of something , I would wait. Don’t serve less than half, I’m paying full price This is what I got served for broccoli beef. Seriously. And you still ask if I want to donate my change? How about you donate some of the money you ripped me off the food?

They had the so called "coconut shrimp" and I was looking forward to eating it. Only to find out that there was no shrimp inside but just flour. I lost my appetite it's a scam, they fool people. Don't come here

I've been eating at Great Wall for more than 20 years (5 owners, IIRC, with new owners being there since 2023, I think). The food is always great (some of the dishes are a bit spicier than I prefer, so I haven't had all of them, but my friends who have like them, too). Everyone I have taken there likes the food, including a Taiwanese ex-GF. My favorite is the Grilled Chicken, followed by the Orange Chicken. Admittedly, the ambiance is generic fast food, but the chairs are new (as of late 2011) and the tables are clean. The owners and their employees are friendly and the prices are moderate. I make it a point to eat there when I am in Santa Ana. The only downside is no free refills on the soft drinks.

I really enjoyed their food, one of the better Chinese takeout I have eaten in LA! Real taste and not food of sugar. Big portions at a reasonable price.

Good fast food spot for Chinese food, I will definitely return here. Good portions and good prices. However I'm giving it a 4 star because I feel like the fried rice was a tad bit under flavored compared to other similar Chinese Food places I've been to like this (for example like Hong Kong Express in Fullerton, their fried rice is a little bit more flavored, but this comes in at a close second place for me).

The set up is weird-not the typical panda express layout. You cant see the menu, so u have to "step out" of line to see what choice they have. They are constantly out of food, so dont expect it to be in and out type of thing at least 20mins maybe more if u have to wait for your food to be cooked. Other than that its the typical panda express.

Ive been coming to this place since 2000 and its been really good. But now this place has nasty food i think the place went under new management. And honestly everything taste nothing taste like chicken or beef. And my kids love the egg rolls but now there nice and crunchy on outside and really mushy and flavorless in the inside. Now I gotta look for a new place. Any suggestions.

The food used to be so amazingly good but after the owner sold the new owners changed all the recipes especially the house special chicken which was my favorite! The new people are stingy with the servings and it’s twice cost of what it used to be, as well as they can be very rude!!
