Due to a little reunion that my employer had planned, I opted to buy a jalea mixta. The jalea was a huge hit at work; everyone loved the crunchy, flavorful bites. The manager and the staff were incredible, helpful, and friendly.
Service and atmosphere was fine. Ordered a chicken sandwich to go. First bite out of the sandwich and I find myself with a bite full of raw chicken. 0/10. I have only heard bad things about this place but I thought I would at least give it a try. Definitely listening to my friends next time. Perfect place if you have an appetite for raw chicken. Never again.

Their truffle fries w/ their own truffle sauce are the best 1s out there. And plus, their chicken sandwiches are the best as well

The food was descent for the price. I got the combo. It was a nice mix from all the Asian food offer at the mall. I wouldn’t say it’s the best chicken sandwich I had but it wasn’t good and wasn’t bad.
If I could give this place a no star I would. This used to be my go to spot but I’m never coming here again. We came in and the staff saw us but didn’t come up to seat us. We had to seat ourselves. They finally came to order food and then they bring the wrong order to us. We tried explaining that wasn’t our order and they don’t speak English so she didn’t understand. Finally I translated it in my phone and she went to get our correct order. After that we had to go looking for a waitress to ask for our bill. We had a horrible experience so obviously we weren’t going to tip. When paying my bill the waitress demanded a tip saying we can’t leave without tipping. Absolutely ridiculous
I ordered today by doordash and I asked for lomo saltado with no onions, as u can see my dish came full of them, also this is no lomo (beef tenderloin) it's a different meat that was too hard to eat and I got around only 5 very small pieces as u can see really bad restaurant...
ordered a chicken sandwich and 2 bites in i notice the inside of the meat is completely pink, after taking it back for a refund the staff inspected it under their ambient RED lighting and said "it's supposed to be like that because it's thigh meat" the actual taste was very mid, not risking salmonella for it

The “wings” that they handed to me were an absolute disgrace. I have never had such a sorry excuse for wings in my entire 158248 hours of being on this earth. DO NOT COME HERE.
I ordered the Rock sandwich and it did not disappoint. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy. The sandwich price was close to $10 but it was well worth it. Next time I will try their combo with the fries/soda but since I had just finished my workout I just only ordered the sandwich. They do give you a number where they will page you when your order is done so that way you don't have to stay in one place.

Wonderful Peruvian food. We love coming here with family. Ceviche are delicious, fresh and simple. Jaleas are generous, well mixed and tasty.

Food is average for Jackson Heights. The plate of food is large (I'll give them that) but so are so many places in the area.

Also they change things without asking, today I order anticuchos which were Luke warm, chicken was decent, ceviche is ok at best, I order tiramisu and was sent tres leches cake instead.

Just got the combo #3 and it was delicious. Best food combo I’ve ever had in my life, what made it 100 times better was that greenish spice they give to the spice, had a ton of flavor. 10/10

Very good food that's not too far from the 71st and Continental Avenue Station on the E, F, M and R trains. I don't know what they put in their salad dressing but it's so very good. They should bottle it. I had the house chaufa and it was a nice price with a lot of meat in it and just plain delicious. And they had of course the special delectable treat, Inca Kola. It's a nice finish to any meal.

Stopped by this joint by accident on my way back from the beach. Had no reservations, looking for a table for five and a kind server was very helpful to find us a table rather soon. Our food was delicious, a bit of a wait but it had fresh ingredients and were properly seasoned. They all had decent portions and plenty of flavors. Lomo saltado was right on point, crunchy potatoes, sizzling onions and tender steak. The jalea with cebiche was one of the best ones I ever had in NY! No joke! I wished I didn’t share it with my kids!!! Anticuchos, although a bit small, were BIG on taste! Seared on the outside, juicy on the inside.
Pisco sour was as good as our dishes. Yes, this restaurant is a little bit on the pricey side, but trust me, it’s worthy.
Gotta add the ambiance is great, no loud music, (loved the jazz music!) beautiful decor, clean bathrooms, very inviting to dine with family and children.

I order from this place all the time. They are expensive. I had an issue with my seemless order and when I called to tell them about my issue the guy who picked the phone was very nasty to me. He told me that if I don’t know how to order I shouldn’t. He said that I was the only one to complain. Do not order from this place. I’m a good customer and that’s how you treat a person. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would!!!

This is my third Peruvian restaurant experience ever in my life. Food, Service, Good live traditional music are all good! Def would like to visit it again.
We ordered the family size whole chicken meal for $26, great value. The salad was amazingly nutritious and delicious. The rotisserie chicken was good, but a bit too salty for our taste. What I didn’t like was the CC fee and the fee for 1 container to bring home the leftover chicken. We felt nickel and dime. It would have been better, if the restaurant just raise prices by $2.

Food was tasty. A little dry but like others mentioned, once you hit it with the green salsa, it’s perfect and the chicken is well seasoned. Service was pretty good. I drank water so it was a little under $20 with the tip.
I had been coming to this place since they open, I always had a great experience with the service and food. We even had an event once. Lately the waitress don’t really care of taking care of the guest. They walk around without acknowledging guest needs. My husband and I asked for HH drinks and they said we didn’t have enough time since we came at 6:45 and Happy Hour ends at 7pm. We order our food the waitress forgot my order. when we finished we wait like 10mins to remove our dirty dishes and they only reason they came back to our table is because we asked for the check. The place had 4 tables including our table at the time. Another thing that I noticed is that they add the Tip to every single check, Is probably one of the reason they don’t care anymore.

I ate here twice before in 2020 and it was my first time getting food from a "Checkers Restaurant" lol I've lived in nyc all my life but I just never went . But this one in LIC I had to try because it's been around since I was a kid and honestly? The food was awesome the place was clean and staff was actually pretty nice I love to see that this place is still in business because the area is forever changing
Hands down, the best chicken I've ever tasted. I have been ordering from them for years and they never disappoint - the most delicious rotisserie chicken and my fav sides are the garlic kale and avocado. The service has always been up to par from pick up to delivery. I order from them at least once a week. DO NOT BELIEVE ANY NEGATIVE REVIEWS! THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! I WILL ALWAYS BE THEIR #1 FAN!
Great food! Best Peruvian chicken in the area by far! The Chinese style fried rice is fantastic. Nothing beats the green sauce, except maybe the garlic sauce. Fried plantains are perfect every time! And don’t even get me started on the fried seafood platter. Perfect! Gets very loud. That’s the only downside.

This place switch your order without letting you know. My order was $18 and they charge me with $27(they claim is different meat in the order) on top of that they include tip in the check. The food is not bad but the way they do business is not acceptable!
Twice bad experience, I moved her a few months ago and I really like the first couple of times. Then it just went downhill. I bought my friend over and he order it. Lunch special rotisserie chicken with salad and he got cold shredded chicken. Second time I order a burger medium and the burger was raw literally raw, when I took it back and let them know the cook came out from the kitchen and try to explain me know that's the way it is. I should have took a picture poster. I hate to write that video but I have no choice
These guys are amazing. Not only is the food fantastic, but the service is spot on. I had a 5 star experience yesterday that I have to comment on. Due to a last min emergency, I had to place a very large, last minute order on July 4th! Not only did they have the order ready in under an hour, but there was a discrepancy with one of the large orders, and they gladly made the order for me again, after we got down to the misunderstanding. I was impressed they went the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect.
If more stars were available for Kantu I would give them all to this restaurant. Food was on point, fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. Service was excellent! Waiter catered to our every need. We were a party of six ppl. The restaurant is open, modern and has just enough beautiful Peruvian art for everyone to appreciate. Huge clean bathrooms too. How can this place be better than that? It boasts a large selection of cocktails and drinks that you will want to come back to over and over again.
Felt for Peruvian food today, and lucky me, we have one very right here in Rockaway Blvd... i was happy because i didnt feel like driving out today...so we ventured in our own town. The food was amazing, everything was delicious! My favorite was the jalea mixta! Freshly fried seafood with fried yuca so yummy! The owner of the store came over to our table and checked on us made sure everything was to our liking and gave me a fun fact, he mentioned that the passion fruit in my drink was from his home country and it was freshlymade by him..! That's made me enjoyed it even more... I highly recommend the food here. Not forget the waitress who served us, she was so kind, always smiling, and very sweet..so go, get your Peruvian food on!
The food was great!, I usually come to checkers very often because I really enjoy their fries. But it's sad to say that the stuff at this location can be very disrespectful and I am saying this after having a negative experience with them a few times in the past two weeks. They are rude to the customer, then goes in the back speaks in their language and sends another person out to speak to the customer and is rude. That needs to stop, it's unacceptable. A customer is bringing business for the organization and needs to be respected. Due to the poor quality behavior I do not even wish to return to this location. Worst quality behavior of staff members I have seen from the many checkers outlets I have been to.

Best guacamole ever. They have a secret sauce for making it and it's maddening to me that I can't figure it out. I wish they didn't use the blue chips though. They are fresh fried which is great but the blue dye turns my poop green.
Extremely postive experience . FOH of the house staff was extremely kind and knowledgeable about the menu items. The restaurant takes it times to serve its food which means the food is made with love and passion. Our family had an amazing dining experience so much so that we couldn’t stop talking about it for the rest of the evening and even promised the waitress that we come again . The plants at the restaurant give the place so much life . The food is excellente decor and presentation . The sauces are amazing . Will return without a doubt . Cash payment is the way to go as the 4% cc charge is added .

A little afraid to try a new Peruvian restaurant but I must say I'm glad I did. The food was not only delicious but the presentation was excellent. The staff were really nice, polite and helpful. I will be coming back for sure!
I don’t usually eat peruvian food so it was my surprise that it was just rice and meat. Simple no? But whoever made it seems very skilled because everything was cooked perfectly. I spent 80$ with no regrets. A bit too salty for my taste but the meat was tender and juicy haha

Cute little chicken place inside the food hall. They make the food fresh so it’s not your typical fast food place. The katsu is so juicy n the plum flavor is to die for. The lslander sandwich is a must try if you like tropical flavors. The waffle chicken is a combo of everything fruits veggies n chicken.

I’ve been eating here since 2015 back when they were on Roosevelt Ave location Chicken fingers are amazing I love there Avocado Salad, guacamole Mac and cheese. The staff is super nice they still remember me when I go in the owners are super friendly. ugh this spot is soooo freaking good you won’t regret coming here !!!! I have been coming to the this place for sometime now. I originally was coming a lot when they were new and were promoting their social media heavily. The food and the quality was great. However, I took a break from coming here after six months and it is sad to say my favorite place of jalea and ceviche has dramatically changed in quality as the ceviche did not have a citrus favor but it was a bad sour as if it was going bad. The jalea delivery wasn’t there anymore and amount is significantly less from what it was back in January in 2023.
Second time trying Peruvian food, it wasn't as impressive as my very first one, which was a few years back at another restaurant but this time was good enough. Went on a Sunday night, the restaurant reached its full capacity, but the service was still good, waitress was patient and kind to give us recommendations, the food was good. Would recommend.

Absolutely loved visiting Kantu. The service was prompt and the staff were lovely. We dined on a Friday night that had live music, which added to the great atmosphere. Food was delicious and our cocktails were tasty and potent! Highly recommend for date night, pre/post movie dining, or catching up with friends.

Speedy service. Friendly counter person. I ordered a variety of meals on the menu. I was not pleased. My chicken tenders were a nice size, but where over cooked and hard. My side salad was fresh and the Italian dressing was delicious. They gave me a nice amount of sweet plantains. The sweet potato fries were undercooked. I also ordered arroz con pollo which was a little salty. The side of veggies were decent.
A medium-sized Checkers with a local ambiance. This fast food restaurant is conveniently next to the 7 train of Queensboro Plaza. Food quality is OK but the price & deals Checkers has is always a win. The service is very quick & all the employees in this location are very polite!

Service is not up to par. They charge you a 18% service fee on top having bad service. The waitresses don’t pay attention to anything I had to get up twice to ask for napkins, forks, and water for the table. The girls look miserable too…. 2 stars because the food is great! I’m a big fan of the anticucho and steak! Order take out!
I went during lunch time since I was in the area the other and I got a italian style chicken sandwhich, the chicken was a bit dry and the peices in the sandwhich were a bit thin and smaller than I would have liked, plus the tsaziki sauce they had was way too thick due to veggies in it that were long strands, the sandwhich all in all was just ok, and for 17$ roughly for just a sandwhich and drink I was expecting more.

I'm blown away. The soup, the chicken, the rice. I got this rice dish that came with a chicken and I'm blown away at how amazing it is. I'll definitely be back to this place. Great service and fast. Love love love.
It was a pretty good little restaurant. The food is a little on the salty side but it was nice. Their selection on drinks is limited. However, their vibe is the most memorable. It's a quaint family restaurant.
Peruvian restaurant in Astoria. Nice Place with good happy hour menu. Food is ok beans was very watery it taste like it was from can with water from it. Servers was not attentive at all and it was not busy it was only two tables with us. It was took people we asked for water they give us only one then we asked for second beer and they forgot about it and that one water they give us never been refilled. It just seems very unorganized place with food that has no flavor.
Let me say this: I've eaten at a lot of chicken places around the world and for some reason, this grilled chicken at Astoria's Chicken Shack is THE BEST CHICKEN I've eaten. Hands down. No debate. I eat here regularly. I'm talking multiple times a week. I eat at the restaurant and I order delivery sometimes. It's the best. The chicken is moist and tender. You can see the chef make it right in front of you on the flame grill so you know IT IS VERY FRESH! It has a delicious flavor to it and the sauces complement the chicken very well. I always go for the half-chicken on the value menu ($13) because you can't get a meal better than it! It is SO HEALTHY! You are given a side salad which is fresh and you are also given another side of your choice. In addition to all of that (the chicken, the sauces, the salad, and the side), you are also given pita bread with it! This place is simply the best! I absolutely love the sweet potato fries too! THE SWEET POTATO FRIES ARE SO GOOD!!! You need to try them. They are delicious, crispy, and bursting with flavor. The combination of the half-chicken with the sweet potato fries is literally unbeatable. The price is also amazing. VERY AFFORDABLE. I absolutely love coming here. I also want to say that the manager of the shop is a great guy and everyone that works with him is also very helpful and respectful. I feel at home when I'm eating at this place! I will definitely be coming back! Thank you Chicken Shack!

be aware of this restaurant. I went today 5/28/22 to eat with my father( we are both Peruvian by the way) . First of all service was delayed for just two dishes

Number one she never advised us about any increase.
Second on the menu there was not any increase or something to tell us. Just the prices were as on any regular menu.
I brought to the cashier attention this is nothing short of a ripoff. Plain and simple.

Had a great lunch on Sunday. Chicken was great. Ceviche was fresh and delicious. The pisco sour was tart and tasty. Service was ultra sweet and friendly. They had live music as well and the vibe was excellent.
It's sad to give this place one star, as they USED to be good. Their ownership has changed this year, and every food item has gone downhill. The chicken is now the quality of a bad Chinese restaurant that just happens to have wings. The vegetables are old. The sauces are disgusting. Avoid.
NEVER AGAIN ! I came in at 5:30 and ordered 3 dishes, I was told 30 minutes. That’s a long time for pickup but understandable since there were other people. But then, the people that came in after us got their food 20 minutes before us !!! When we ordered 10 minutes before them and ordered smaller and simpler meals, they got big seafood plate and an entire rotisserie chicken. I ordered 2 pollo salados, which is fries chicken and rice, i don’t understand why it took so long for something so simple and other people are getting gourmet meals in 15 minutes. I waited 45+ minutes sitting there waiting for a mediocre meal that was made with two different types of fries, obviously frozen ! I will add images. Not only did I come in at 5:30 and got my food at 6:20. The staff were not kind at all. I could barely communicate with the waitress. Once your a regular they think they can take advantage, and take a ridiculous amount of time and don’t even bother to use basic customer service skills. No compensation for the terrible experience . Everything is also so dirty ! Instead of trying to be understanding, the waiter instead proceeded to tell me there’s nothing he can do, maybe compensation for wasting my time??? Should’ve canceled the order when it came out. Never going back again to pay ridiculous prices for frozen old food. 40$ for this, and then they wanna charge extra for a little bit of sauce with an attitude and no regard for the experience I just had.
Fries shrink in size after they change ownership. Use cheaper fries that absorb much oils. Tribble terrible heartless business. Don't even bother ordering

Sad to give this place 1 Star… the guy who took our order was really nice and everyone is friendly but I’m sorry to say that the food was horrible. We asked for lomo saltado… meat was hard and it seemed they cut it when it was still frozen the red onion in it was super overcooked it was totally dead and in general food had no flavor, no condiment. I MUST say maybe they are better in “sea food”? I wouldn’t know. I’m sorry to say this but they should change the cook….. I am not a person who leaves food even if I have to take it home. We left with a feeling of unsatisfying and we didn’t feel like spending another $45 in another restaurant so we end up going to a bakery. In a different situation I would not have tipped but like I said … this has nothing to do with the personnel service but with the food itself! Never had a disgusting lomo saltado. Peruvian food is delicious!!. Will go back if they get a better cook
Went to this Peruvian location yesterday 10/11/21 for dinner for the first time with some friends. .service was a little slow at first because there was only one waitress, but it was worthwhile then another waiter started after 4pm. Our waitress Marjorie was amazing and the owner of the restaurant Rafael is very welcoming and makes sure customers are having a good time and everyone is happy. The ambience Is it good for family and friends the food is fresh and very good the sangria is amazing and then there is after hour Monday through Friday from 4 to 6.Recommended and will return.
Good food cheap prices friendly service what more could you ask for. The guy said he has been in business for 20 years I can see why.
I'm disappointed going to this place. We had a reservation for four. We placed our order for food and decided to sip two beers while waiting. The bar is less than 6 ft away from our table but we had to wait more than 20 minutes to get the beers. The only reason we got it is because one of us get up and went to the bar. We waited more than 35 minutes to get our food. There was no salad to go along with it. They served two starches,rice and fries on each plate. I don't get the egg on rice thing. Another thing it's a small restaurant but it is extremely loud with the music, over dinner we couldn't chit chat.

I loved it and it was a decent price for the neighborhood. I got the burrito but it was more like a taco 🥣 than an actual burrito. In the end it was a better choice. The red birch beer soda was a great way to wash it down afterwards.
So I came here after hearing from the Forest Hills community group that it just opened. Met one of the owners, Adriana, so lovely!! She and her two sisters run the family owned business (moved from a Queens Blvd location due to large building construction).

Loved it! Food was good and decently priced. Staff was friendly. Eating good in the neighborhood. Chicken was tender and the green sauce was too good, could not get enough.
Also, the restaurant is hidden yet like in the center of intersection and plenty of natural light if you get a booth by the window. Not too far from train too but I drove. Street parking and on site parking available.

There were five people busy working inside the kitchen, but no one cared to take care of the customers in the waiting line. There wasn’t much people sitting in the restaurant. We waited for about five minutes until someone finally picked up the line. The food serving speed was good, how ever it taste just like downgraded McDonald’s with smaller portion. There are leftover food on the table but nobody cleaned it up.
A very nice neighborhood chicken and back ribs place. I strongly recommend you - take half chicken and half back ribs meals for two. Chicken is soft and juicy
