Reviews

I came with the family to whale watching, which, per reviews, is a must do, but I don’t get to see the full whale; only their air blows and the ones that kind of stick out for a quick peak. I did like the boat ride as the tides were high due to the weather, but not many people were having it as they were getting dizzy, but I didn’t mind.
Loved it!! Saw a few dolphins, and it was wonderful. They were jumping in and out of the water just having fun, just being so cute! The view from the boat is so serene and beautiful.

Had an awesome time, saw hundreds of dolphins, a juvenile gray whale, and a couple of fin whales. Totally worth it, will definitely do it again if we end up in Long Beach with time. Wish I come upload the video, we got the gray whale breaching. So cool to see.
Harbor Breeze has been transporting our high school Health Academy students for more than 10 years now. Every year, every cruise is adventurous, safe and just plain fun!

They scour the area to locate whales, and when there are none, they find sea lions, dolphins, or any biological or historical landmark to make for a great day on the water -- even when the whales are shy 🤭

We were blessed when hindreds of dolphins welcomed us to their world.
Going on a whale watching tour was on my bucket list. Only one word is needed to describe my experience: amazing. During the tour, Capitan Steve shared his vast knowledge of sea animals. We cruised through a large pod of dolphins and saw two fin whales!! 🐳🐬If I'm ever in LA again, I wouldn't hesitate to go on another tour. Depending on the time of year and weather, you never know what you'll see!! I can't recommend SoCal Whale Watching more highly.
I was in town for work but had some free time so I looked for a whale watching trip. I found SoCal Whale Watching close to where I was staying so I gave them a try. Capt. Steve did a fantastic job explaining what we were and were not likely to see based on the time of year. He knew the ecosystem well and explained a lot about how the food system worked in the area. We saw harbor seals, sea lions, costal bottle nosed dolphin, and got a couple of quick looks at a fin whale. It was a good trip. We left the dock at 9:30 and got back just after noon. This is the smallest boat I have taken for whale watching, (this was my 4th time) but even so, I fully enjoyed the trip. The boat seats around 9 I believe. There were 5 of us on this particular trip. I give Capt. Steve and So Cal Whale Watching my full recommendation.
We decided to do the whale tour and spent most of the time listening to random facts and taking in the views. We could finally see two whales at different intervals for a few minutes and a group of sea lions. The boat was nice, and the crew was friendly. Please keep in mind that there are risks with these adventures as whales are unpredictable, and there is no guarantee they will show themselves. We were lucky we saw two.
2nd and 3rd January 2024

We booked online for the 2nd January, and we turned up on the day went you kiosk and got our tickets. Quick and easy. Board the boat took our seat ready to sea some marine life, A lovely friendly lady called Maggie? Approached us and told us some interesting facts about whales. Unfortunately, the wind picked up, and the captain decided it would be unsafe to continue the cruise. So we headed back to port a little down heartened.
As we disembarked, we were presented with 2 tickets to come back.

We booked on to the boat the very next day and
loved it!

The staff are amazing. Shout out to Zak.

We saw Grey Whales and pods of Pacific White Sided Dolphins and the odd Sealion.

Keep up the great work 👍
The whale watching experience offered by Harbor Breeze Cruises is definitely worth exploring if you love the ocean and its residents.

The cruise starts from Long Beach and is for approximately 2 hours or slightly more. The ship is nice and spacious with facilities to watch from inside or on the deck. Although there is no guarantee that one will be able to sight whales, I’ve been lucky on both instances when I took this trip. In addition there are lots of baby dolphins that swim along the ship.

The tour guides are friendly and very knowledgeable. The tickets are very reasonable and weekday rates are even lower when you book in advance.
It truly is remarkable- this Aquarium of the Pacific and not be missed.

I celebrated my 60th birthday with the 2 1/2 hour dinner cruise on the 90 ft yacht with 40 guest. OMG, we had a blast. Thank you Jamie, Sergio and Capt Nick, plus the 2 helpers for making my day special. We enjoyed your services. It was well worth it.
Amazing late afternoon outing with the kids. Cynthia, tship naturalists/guide, made the trip informative and enjoyable She was attentive/courteous with passengers marine questions.

We went on a 2.5 hours tour or about 15 miles out. You can see Catalina island growing up the horizon. Catalina island grew bigger and bigger as we motor our west. I need to work on my flat earth theory of this phenomenon.

We were hoping see whales but nothing on this trip. Bummer.

We saw large pods of dolphins as the boat arrived at the ocean canyon. Ocean canyon is a feeding grounds off the coast. Rich in plankton and fish.

Dolphins were playfully swimming around the boat, curious at our very presence. Very exciting to see the dolphins swimming/jumping on the boat wake.

Dress in layers and bring a beanie. Saw a few people getting sea sick. Water is very choppy once boat pass the breaker and hit open water. You need to break in them sea legs.

We departed at 330 pm and arrive back at 6pm. Amazing view of the sunset in open water on the way home. As we head back we can see the colorful twinkle of lights growing brighter at the Long Beach marina. Perfect ending of the day.

I will definitely be back next season.

I took my youngest children for there birthday and we really enjoyed ourselves
The tour and Captain Steve were awesome. We were lucky enough to see whales, dolphins, seals, and sea lions on our trip despite the weather not being the most favorable.
Everyone was so nice and the aquarium staff on board were incredibly knowledgeable. The staff checked in with each individual group. We saw a lot of dolphins and had a very relaxing ride. We were warned that whale season was over and didn’t expect to see any. However, we got super lucky and there was a long blue whale! The crew did everything possible to make sure we all caught a small glimpse of him. Also it says it on their website, but definitely pack a jacket as it gets cold on the water. Drinks and snacks are available downstairs using credit or cash. However, staff only can accept cash tips so pack cash for this reason. (Tipping is optional) Loved this trip!

I have always dreamed of seeing dolphins in real life, this cruise promises a trip on the ocean and watching dolphins and whales. The trip took three and a half hours, for a long time we sailed and did not see anyone, as the guide said, we may or may not see if we are lucky. And finally a pack of dolphins appeared not far from us. They are incredible, it is impossible to remain indifferent at the sight of them. We swam on, but we didn't see any whales. On the way back, we also did not see any, but swam up to see seals, these fascinating creatures also deserve attention. I really enjoyed the trip, but of course I wish there had been more time to see the sea creatures 🐬🦭
We booked a private charter with Capt Steve. We had a wonderful time. We saw soooo many coastal dolphins. The whales were too shy, unfortunately. But that didn’t damper our spirits. We will book again soon. It was that amazing.

it‘s a great experience! You can buy the ticket at the booth just in front of the boat. if you pay it online you can get $5 off per ticket. Even if you come to the booth you can buy the tickets online there, they will give you the tickets. There are plenty of seats in and on the boat, you can buy hotdogs, candies, bottle water, and beers there. After a short distance from the Bay, you can a lot of dolphins swimming or jumping around the boat, you can see a blue whale. By the way, you can enjoy the natural scenery all the way!

The cruise would’ve been way nicer for sure if the small ship boat was updated.. there’s an old dusty fan in there. It was very hot and humid. They had no air conditioning. The tables and chairs and carpet are all very old, musty, dirty, and outdated. The boat/water taxi we took to Las Alamitos Bay was beautiful and comfortable and clean and it had a fabulous air-conditioning and nice restrooms. The microphone and speakers were clear easier to hear

First off, the vehicle itself is very nice and modern with comfortable seating for viewing and safety.
The staff who work on the vehicle are professional and kind, especially the tour guide, who was open to questions about sea life.
We were able to watch many different pods of common dolphins, sea lions, and sunfish. While we unfortunately couldn’t spot a whale, it was worth it as many dolphins were spotted jumping and swimming in pods.
This is a perfect activity for families and people of all ages who want to learn about marine wildlife from wildlife. It is a lot more beautiful and exciting to see pods of dolphins swimming in the ocean rather than a marine park like Seaworld. Highly recommend as an educational experience and for good pictures.

Great experience, would any time book it again, taking friends and family. You can even Uber there from any point in LA. We didn’t see any whale today, but plenty of dolphins and other animals - really magical. It’s a very small boat, making you feel very close to the animals. Our Guide was chill and kind, answering all our curious questions. If you choose this experience, don’t forget to bring cash for tips (unlike me… )

We went on the 3:30 whale watching tour that ended up spotting the blue whale, Hook! It was so cool. Seating is first come first served. If you want to stay out of the sun, sit inside the boat. When a whale or dolphin is spotted, you can go to that area of the boat. Sitting outside on the boat is very hot until the boat starts moving. Then, it gets very windy and chilly. There are employees from the Aquarium of the Pacific who narrate the tour and give a lot of interesting information. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase on the tour. Take seasick medication if you get nauseous. It is a big boat, but it still will rock with the waves.
Its a small boat but it makes the experience so amazing..... there have been a lot of ripples but Steve warned us before getting on board and offered us a free refund if we wanted to cancell last minute!
We didnt got to see whales but we saw a big nursery pod of dolphins....they played around the boat for a while....an amazing experience! Also Scott gave a lot of info. 100% worth your money and time!

PARKING: the max at the Pier is 2 hrs but if you go inside the building and show your ticket you can buy a daypass for $3.
I was on the Sunday morning trip with Captain Steve and two other guests. It was a nice trip, we’ve seen a huge group of dolphins, sea lions, sunfishes and finally two blue whales. He waited until they came back up to the surface from their dive so we could see these beautiful animals a little bit longer, before we had to return to the harbor.

My husband and I Loved this experience. Going back with my sons when it gets warmer out in Long Beach
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Harbor Breeze Cruises in Long Beach, California, and I must say it was an exhilarating adventure that left me in awe. The 45-minute ride provided an incredible opportunity to explore the picturesque Pacific coast waters while enjoying breathtaking views of the iconic Queen Mary's ship.

From the moment I stepped aboard the cruise, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a friendly crew that ensured a smooth and enjoyable journey. The staff members were knowledgeable and passionate about the area's rich maritime history, adding a layer of depth to the experience. They were more than happy to answer any questions and share fascinating anecdotes about the Queen Mary and other significant landmarks we encountered during the ride.

The highlight of the cruise was undoubtedly the opportunity to view the magnificent Queen Mary up close. As we glided through the crystal-clear waters, the ship's grandeur and historical significance became even more apparent. The sight was truly mesmerizing, and I felt a sense of awe and reverence for this iconic ocean liner.

The Pacific coast waters served as a stunning backdrop throughout the ride. The combination of the sparkling blue ocean, the gentle breeze, and the panoramic vistas created an ambiance that was both relaxing and invigorating. It was the perfect setting to unwind and soak in the natural beauty that California has to offer.

The duration of the cruise, although only 45 minutes, was packed with excitement and captivating sights. The timing was just right, allowing me to indulge in the experience without feeling rushed. I never once felt bored or unengaged, as there was always something intriguing to observe or learn about.

Overall, I highly recommend Harbor Breeze Cruises in Long Beach, California, for anyone seeking an exciting and memorable adventure. Whether you're a local looking to appreciate the beauty of your own backyard or a tourist wanting to explore the charms of the Pacific coast, this cruise offers an unforgettable experience. With its exceptional staff, breathtaking views, and the opportunity to view the majestic Queen Mary, Harbor Breeze Cruises truly delivers an extraordinary journey.

I really can’t recommend it enough. Steve was kind, informative, and personable. I thoroughly enjoyed the size of the boat and the intimacy to the moment it provided. We saw sea lions, dolphins, and three species of whales in one morning which was absolutely incredible. Highly recommend!

Sat July 10th 2022,
Me and my wife had time to do something different. We were not planning on doing this cruise. But the price was what drew us in. Some people might not enjoy cruising at a lower speed. And especially around the harbor. But it is called "harbor cruise ". Now yes the ship is a bit older, just like the captain. But very friendly. Spoke to us the entire time. We did enjoy seeing the huge freight liners parked out in the port waiting to be unloaded. I did wish we knew sooner about the cruise in the evening. But overall very enjoyable. And it does go slow enough to capture some wonderful pictures. I would go back just to experience the evening cruise.

Spirit cruises was very reasonably priced and the sites were beautiful.
We did the Starlight cruise, which takes place at night, and we definitely felt like we got our money's worth.
A bonus was having a bar on board as well.
Very fun experience.
