I ordered the salmon and avocado rolls, green tea ice cream and white peach sake which were delicious. The service and atmosphere were very nice. I've been a regular for some years now.

The food here is really good.... Like I was back in Japan good. The rice is done just right, slightly sticky without being overly starchy. Their lunch specials are worth the price. They have this ginger dressing on the salads that was fresh and very pleasing. You should get the gyoza if you get any appetizer. The unagi domburi was some of the best I have had. Recommend this place as a nice lunch stop.

outstanding little local find! excellent quality everything from sushi to ramen tempura all fabulous. please note the location is small with just four tables and a sushi bar but if you can get in you are in for a treat! very fairly priced for the quality of food and a city location.

I just ordered the dragon roll to go and it was so fresh and delicious. Very friendly staff, clean atmosphere and many choices of sushi to choose from. Great for a quick bite to eat if you are staying in the union square area.

We have been coming to Sushi Zone since 2009. It is lovely- incredible food, cute small restaurant, open kitchen. We love their sushi, but their warm dishes- the baked bass, salmon Kama and hamachi Kama are not to be missed. We will be back and highly recommend Sushi Zone!

I was excited to see nothing has changed over the last 20+ years Sushi Time has been open. It’s been many years since I moved away from the neighborhood, but on the recent visit, the owner remembered every detail. Food and atmosphere was as lovely as it was then.

The reason why I give this place 5 stars is not because they have the best sushi or the best service or the most stunning decor. No I give it 5 stars because as you walk in you are transformed into a place you would find at any corner in any city in Japan. Time stands still and the world is forgotten. And you simply enjoy your drink and food with friends or alone and absorb that moment of perfection. The sushi is perfectly cut and the rice moist but consistent so that every piece melts on your tongue.

Very cute little sushi place - got seaweed salad and a crazy roll and was very pleased with the tempura shrimp in the roll. The plating was beautiful as well

This place are quite small, they only have four tables and a sushi bar. We went there as a group for the new year party, and we ordered a lot of food! They were all pretty good! The tofu was very tender and the fried tofu skin was just right. Also the Japanese wings were great, they served it with mild spicy, meat was very tender. Two ramens were good too except the broth was too oily for my taste, the rest were normal good.

Decent looking place, but way too expensive for the small cuts they serve. Nothing special. They should serve house salads to keep the customers occupied while waiting for their order. There are better options around. I won't be going back. Servers were apologetic rather than proud, although I didn't complain.

This is the best sushi I've ever had! I had the Philadelphia roll & Dragon roll with steamed pot stickers, spring rolls, and green tea ice cream. Every single thing was fresh, delicious, and not too expensive. Staff were fabulous.

My S/O and myself ordered garlic edamame, gyoza, little angel roll and a Lion King roll. Prices were slightly different than the ones posted online and on yelp.
The garlic tasted a little off, like it was from a jar, but the edamame was good never the less. Gyoza was good, same with the little angel. The Lion King was okay but they skimped on tobiko, which is one of the important parts of the roll. After ordering a side of it and adding it to the roll it was great! All of that plus a large beer totalled out to about $55 which is great, especially in SF. I would definitely return.

This place has amazing sushi, service and community. Everyone there was so nice and open to talk. I had a great time, great food and zake. I recommend it a lot. Ill be coming back

Great omakasa. We really enjoyed the dishes. Their signature dishes are top notch and nigiri was amazing. They also have a great sake pairing to go with the meal. Beautiful space and ambiance as well.

Came here intending to have a quick lunch the other day, but unfortunately received quite poor service. It took a while to get the attention of a waiter to let us order, and while we were ordering our waiter seemed confused with what we wanted and we weren't sure she had heard it all. We ordered a few rolls, a curry, and a ramen, and waited about 20 minutes before inquiring as to the progress of our meal. We asked three separate wait staff who said they would check, until one of them realised our order had not actually been put through. We had a flight to catch that afternoon so it was quite a stressful experience. Finally the waiter came over and explained the situation to us and said the food would be out in 5 minutes. The food did come then which was good, and we were offered complimentary dessert as an apology.
The food itself was pretty good, I wish they marked their vegan options though because I had to just guess. I got the Kawaii roll and the Popeye roll, which both tasted good.
Overall a good meal, just wish we could have had a better experience with the service.

Nice place with some inventive rolls and fresh fish. Daily specials were better and more interesting than some of the standards. Sushi rice was a bit cold. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Romeo and Juliet roll was excellent. So was Hamachi carpaccio.

Service was horrible. I ordered the chicken katsu curry. They brought out chicken katsu. I was like oh well I don’t want to waste this and I like katsu anyhow, no worries. Decent meal, just not what I ordered. At the end when my check arrived, I was charged for the katsu curry. I asked why I didn’t receive the curry then. Server said they were out of curry. Information I could have used at the beginning when ordering, I would have gotten something else. Hard to flag down one of the 15 people on stafff for some reason, everyone is looking elsewhere all the time and not engaging the diners. Hard to say I’ll go back here with other sushi and Japanese cuisine around. I wish them well, just not for me✌🏽

Excellent sushi at reasonable prices. I've been here several times. They serve good-size portions and a wide variety. My "sushi dinner" (chef's choice) came with tuna, salmon, mackerel, whitetail, eel, shrimp, crab, and octopus. The California roll with avocado is delicious. I had two plates full of food and a beer for around $45. After spending $17 on a burger and fries at O'Hare Airport on the way out here, it was really nice to get decent food without getting ripped off.

I almost don’t want to tell you about how good the sushi is here. Fish so fresh you’d think we’re by the port. And the baked muscles…. A must try. They literally melt in your mouth. & I have not had friendlier, more welcoming service anywhere…. Not to mention the lower east-side NY vibe inside. This is how a neighborhood sushi joint should be. Thank you for some of the best bites around.

We love this sushi spot. It’s tiny (about 20 seats) and fabulous. The service is fantastic, even if it’s busy. Always accommodating. The prices are competitive with other sushi restaurants. They always have a great selection of specials. They make us feel like family. It’s our number one sushi spot in the city.

We made a reservation in advance for 7pm, which was great since they filled the tables quickly. I wanted to do the all you can eat option but saw I had to eat the equivalent of 3 rolls to be worth it and decided to do 2 rolls instead. The sushi itself was good overall and the service was great. I would probably choose to go to Fishmandu instead.
The reason why I gave 3 stars: the 2 sushi rolls had SUPER thin layers of salmon on top. It looked like it had been flattened before being placed. The salmon nigiri had a decent amount of fish. Also as soon as you walk in, there was a strong smell from the carpets. The staff opened the window, which really helped.

Sushi Zome boasts a wonderful ambiance and exceptional service. The food quality varies based on the sushi rolls ordered—I've been there with friends, some rolls were outstanding while others were more average. The sake pairing portions were big enough to share, which is very good because otherwise I wouldn’t have been conscious by the third course. But each is paired very well, served and explained by a sake specialist and worth any hangover, should it come to that.
Okmakase is a bit on the spendier side but absolutely worth saving up for. Cannot wait to return. Much thanks to the staff for a lovely night and overall experience.

Excellent quality Sushi! Took the maguro nigiri, the Toro roll, spicy tuna roll and the super dynamite roll. All of them were excellent. Small place with nice ambiance! Friendly staff. Slightly on the pricier side, but worth the quality. Would definitely come back!

I honestly didn’t expect a lot going in but was blown away. The fish was very fresh and buttery. Every piece was seasoned very well. Around 70 for this nigiri platter, which includes toro, wagyu, uni, scallop, etc. It is not cheap but is very good deal compared to other sushi places in the Bay Area.

Lovely hidden gem. The staff was very friendly and made excellent suggestions. I was dining alone and they made me feel very welcome. Try the toro special if they have it.

Upon entering I felt mislead by the servers when it came to requesting water. I was asked if I wanted still or San Francisco’s finest. Not knowing San Francisco’s finest was tap water, I said still and was charged $15. Whatever, just didn’t expect a high-end restaurant with a Michelin star to use deceptive tactics like this to upsell. A little disappointing.
Their Omakase was just okay. Mainly nigiri was served and I felt like the other courses/dishes lacked innovation. Chef Kaoru was super nice and interactive, probably the highlight of our dining experience.

It's more like a 7-11 kind of daily meal sushi restaurant around your house corner in Japan everywhere.
The price is very friendly.

Everything we had was so delicious! Their ikura in particular was otherworldly - it brought me right back to the summer I spent in Kanazawa.
Our server was warm and didn't get annoyed as we repeatedly ordered more and more (and more) sushi, and the decor was cozy. Prices were really reasonable, too.
Oh, and they've got a tasty sake menu!
I'll definitely be coming back next time I'm in town!

I went there for the first time ever to celebrate my early birthday dinner. This was probably the best omakase restaurant I've been to, compared to NYC level.
My guest and I was greeted by a friendly host who showed us to our seats at the sushi bar. I recommend getting seats here, so you can watch the chefs make your nigiri.
Every item they brought to us to eat were amazing, flavorful, melts in your mouth, and no fishy after taste. My guest is a picky eater, but they loved everything we ate! We also ordered the wagyu nigiri at the end and it was better than some wagyu i've had in Japan.

The ramen noodles were a huge portion and delicious. The pot stickers unfortunately came out cold. Edamame was good enough but not remarkable. Lastly the chicken teriyaki was great.

Amazing food and experience celebrating my wife's Birthday. Each dish was beautiful and delicious. The staff was very friendly too. The petite omakaze was a great deal and all 3 of us were full and content after the dinner.

The Sushi at Sushi Chef was of high quality and the dishes themselves were innovative, not your everyday standard sushi. The price tag was quite steep, however, this is true for San Francisco in general. In other cities, you could get the same quality of fish as here for less. The price-quality ratio was good though.

Awesome experience in this multiple-year Michelins awarded omakase restaurants. Special fishes that I rarely had even I have been to so many other sushi omakase readings in SF. Friendly staff and wonderful services that delivered a very warm and welcomed vibe. My daughter and I really enjoyed it and had a great evening there !

First time here and it was an absolute treat. Thoroughly enjoyed every course and everything they had to offer in their Omakase. The fish was SO UNBELIEVABLY FRESH, it would make a fisherman cry. The last part of the Omakase was fish that was flown in overnight from Japan. The flavors of everything that was brought together that evening was absolutely unforgettable. Truly worthy of celebration of any kind, or just if you want some damn GREAT FISH. Not good, GREAT.
The hostess was also so nice and so informative about everything. Bless her heart, she was so kind.
Only complaint is because of the old-laundry smell that our tablecloths had that evening. Other than that, the meal was astonishingly perfect. Will definitely return because the food was just SO GOOD.

My husband and I wanted to try a new sushi place and I found Oma which was close to our house. We got a couple of rolls, some appetizers, drinks, and dessert. It all was prepared very well and tasted delicious. The staff and chefs were so kind. We will definitely have to come back.

We had the Omakase at Kusakabe restaurant today. It was amazing and most delightful. The waiters were very attentive. We were placed at the bar next to master Okada San who prepared the sushi in front of us in the most skilful way. For me it was the second time at Kusakabe and again one of my best sushi experiences in my life. The Sake pairing was a very tasty and suitable pairing. Thank you ありがとう Arigato Okada SanとKusakabe San and the staff at Kusakabe restaurant.

Fantastic experience ♥️ It’s got lovely interiors and a great modern design. I loved the ambiance and the menu sounded fascinating. Food is high quality and magnifique. Been here twice for a birthday and anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed the experience both times. Great ambience, knowledgeable and friendly chefs, and of course amazing amazing omakase! Price is quite reasonable too considering it has a Michelin Star.

For the start, they served the fish soup which was light in flavor. Next was the chawanmushi, which has deep flavor coming from the truffle. The glorious golden caviar with toro tartare up next, this was deliciously good, rich in flavor, tho was just looking for different texture. Then Nigiri were prepared, they used fresh seafood but one thing that stands out for me was the rice! It was seasoned well and cooked perfectly!
Do not forget to get a warm sake to pair with your nigiris.

Delicious dinner experience. Fish selection was great and fresh. Some of their fish I've had for the first time at this restaurant. Golden eye snapper and toro were the standouts for the nigri course.
Dessert was miso Panna Cotta with yuzu granita and fresh fruit and it was very refreshing. Perfect ending to dinner.

Sushi Delight is amazing! The food is good, and on Fridays and Saturdays they have all you can eat for $38 (that’s the best part). I think it’s something everyone should try at least once. The all you can eat includes appetizers too, not just the sushi. Yeah, it’s the deal of a lifetime.

My new go to! Very small and cozy, friendly staff, reasonable prices, delicious simple sushi. Will definitely be coming back. My favorite was the butter fish roll (spicy waru). Most rolls are under $10!

Huge portions of fish and nice chefs choice for the assortment. Fish tasted very fresh and no aftertaste like someone else mentioned. (And I am picky.) Service is very nice and my wife ordered the box and was impressed with the serving of salmon and short ribs. Very pleased with our experience.

Nice staffs and the foods were great for the price. The sashimi was cut a little bit too thick for me, but that's my personal preference. The udon soup was good although there was not many pieces of tempura. Overall good experience, and might be back to try some sushi next time.

Small place and very busy, so possibly get a reservation before you go. Perfect for birthday party or any parties in general. It has good izakaya vibes, just like Japan where people are having real fun and make some noise. All you can in menu and a great selection of rolls and sashimi. Food was delicious and and portion are fulfilling. Direct access to next door karaoke bar, it is quite amazing to be honest! I’ll probably bring a bigger party for my birthday now that I know this place! I highly suggest it if you want to have a fun night with friends.

Best Japanese restaurant in SF. I’ve tasted lots of Japanese dishes, but this one really surprised me. I will say every single piece here is comfortable. It is the first time I feel warm and comfortable when eating sushi. The different materials are combined so naturally. They balanced with each other well.

This was a fantastic experience. It was like a perfect dance from start to finish. The kitchen and sushi chefs we perfectly synchronous. The food was elegant with breathtaking delivery. One of the best meals of a lifetime. The cost is quite high at 250 for the experience plus plus for saki and tip… but worth it for the once in a lifetime experience. It may be useful to have one tier lower of an option to get more repeat visits…but… if they can sustain on this then keep the magic going.

Food was delicious. We had the tasting menu and most of the dishes were excellent, though some were oversalted, which really is unnecessary for sashimi. Service was attentive in serving dishes and clearing plates but I would have expected more conversation with the staff about how the food was. They were talking amongst themselves and to just a few of the guests they appeared to know. Prices were exorbitant. While I can expect that for top of the line Japanese, the aforementioned service gaps made it feel overpriced.

TL;DR: Very, very mediocre sushi but the $10 all-you-can-drink is worth it.
I came by Wasabi intrigued by their $10 AYCD special. Drinks and sushi? Count me in please! Unfortunately, not many dishes are as worth the price as the AYCD. The specialty sushi here runs about $14-$15 and they're so small. I did appreciate some of the dishes like the carpaccio and the hamachi Kama but would not come here again for the rolls. Stick with the nigiri and other non-raw fish items.
WHAT I ORDERED:
1. Hamachi Kama ($12.95): this takes 25 minutes to come out but very well worth the wait! The hamachi is cooked perfectly and pairs well with the citrus-y sauce. It's also a large appetizer and would feed 2-3 ppl easily!
2. X Roll ($14.50): it's so small for a $14.50 roll :( This is a hamachi/avocado roll topped with tuna and salmon. My SO didn't like the quality of the raw fish saying it smelled kind of fishy. Otherwise, not worth the money
3. Unagi Roll ($7.50): another disappointment. There's barely any unagi in the roll and was mostly rice and avocado.
4. Rainbow Carpaccio (8.95): a nice array of fish that was nicely sized. I liked the yuzu wasabi sauce that's drizzled on top. It adds a nice touch.

What a little gem! We were told about this place through a friend and were very happy to have had the recommendation.
We started off with a cool and delicious, dry sake. We shared Dragon rolls as our appetizer and then each had a chicken udon soup. Turns out it was a cold night so the soup hit the spot.
The chicken was tender and juicy and the broth had a perfect flavor. It'll be a soup I turn to anytime I feel the need for a home cooked meal.
Once they explained the dessert I couldn't resist! Green tea ice cream surrounded by banana 🍌 tempura. Simply heaven 🤩 We'll be back for sure!

The chicken was tender and juicy and the broth had a perfect flavor. It'll be a soup I turn to anytime I feel the need for a home cooked meal.
Once they explained the dessert I couldn't resist! Green tea ice cream surrounded by banana 🍌 tempura. Simply heaven 🤩 We'll be back for sure!

The weather was unbelievably rainy but Omakase made all the rainy driving worth it! The chef was amazingly skilled and also really funny so it was a great experience :) The fish was really fresh and the chef took time to explain before every dish any noteworthy characteristics so we knew what to taste for. I was also really full by the end! They checked for vaccination status before letting us in and the chefs wore masks during the entire ~2hour service.

Late night dinner. Decided to try this place and I fell in love with it! We sat at the booth and was greeted immediately! Ordered Miso soup as an appetizer and I ordered to different type of rolls. Which were the Hawaiian Roll #1 and the New York. Miso soup was served literally 8 minutes after I had placed it. Rolls did take about an hour to serve. However, it was worth the wait they were presented perfectly and had an awesome fresh taste.

Great little place to get all you can eat sushi! Reservations are not required but recommend as they have limited space. The dinner price for all you can eat is a little more expensive but there are more options.

This was by far the best dining experience I’ve ever had. The Sushi/Nigiri was prepared to perfection and everything was full of flavor. The level of detail in the presentation, the high quality ingredients and the professionalism from the chef and staff were unmatched. Our favorites were the O Toro, the Scallop and the Sashimi. Really enjoyed the ice cream dessert as well. Hope to be back when in the area again!

No reservations. Waited 25 minutes at 8pm on a Saturday for a group of 3. Fresh fish, nicely prepared rice, and crisp seaweed. They ran out of a few key fish (including unagi), which put a damper on some of the nigiri and rolls we wanted to order. Also, very little cooked food here. So order some miso or edamame to get your warm fix while eating.

I'm going to be honest, usually mainstream Japanese restaurants are nice and the food is just alright. But this time I have to say the sushi was really good. Fresh and tasty, for a very good price. In my 2 weeks stay in SF I came here twice. Well done! Keep up with the good work.

Sushi Zone is one of my favorite sushi places in San Francisco! The owners are so friendly and the food is absolutely superb! I have waited for over an hour to eat here on multiple occasions; it is definitely worth the wait!

The food was really good, there's a lot from what to choose and the menu was easy to understand.

Best Authentic hole in the wall sushi place by far. Totally worth a visit. The Tai carpaccio is excellent, and make sure to check the specials you'll often find some great fish.

Solid 4 star restaurant. They had a very diverse Japanese menu with sushi, curry, noodle spots, teriyaki and more, so nothing individually was amazing. However, everything we ordered was good and didn't have any glaring flaws. Prices are good. No reservations needed, it was almost empty during dinner time on a Tuesday evening.

Sushi was fresh and flavourful. Server recommended some fresh deliveries of scallops and shrimp which were wonderful. Prices are reasonable and dishes arrived quickly. Certainly would go again but unfortunately live out of town.
