Delivery Order: Pretty good Sushi. I don't really anything bad to say about the food but definitely not the best Sushi I have had. All the items were very well packaged and tasted fresh.
We ordered delivery and it was fast (only took around 40 min) and food was really good! We ordered a variety of different things and enjoyed them all- no complaints here!

This place has amazingly fresh sushi. Not the best for cooked food like chicken teriyaki and such, but for sushi, it's a great price and some of the best sushi around, regardless of price. Not much of a sit down place, so my husband and I always take it to go, although there are tables if you want to eat there. It's very clean inside and the guys are always super nice. If you want a solid sushi dinner, I can't recommend enough!

The poke bowl I ordered were so disappointing. The amount was so little and they are extremely cheap with the toppings.
Could only chose up to 6 toppings. There were only a few piece of corns and Masago as you can find in the pic.
Waiting time was long, atmosphere was dead, I don’t recommend.

🌟🌸 Sushi bliss, we couldn't resist,
First time here, an experience we'll persist.
Sushis so big, taste dancing on the lip,
A flavorful journey, a thrilling trip.

Miso magic, oh so divine,
Delicious and tasty, a sip like fine wine.
Owners, maybe a duo in love,
Kindly and friendly, like a hand in a glove.

Our sushi haven, a delightful find,
In every bite, culinary bind.
A cozy spot, where joy and rolls entwine,
"Our sushi place," forever ours to define. 🍣💖

Best sushi restaurant in NJ and just as good as what we ate in Tokyo. Highly recommend the spicy scallop appetizer, absolutely amazing. And the sushi deluxe is excellent each time.

Loved the service, everyone was super friendly especially Steven. The food was excellent, my girlfriend and I ordered the pork gyoza, Temptation Roll and Torched Salmon. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves sushi!

Take out sushi order was very diappointing. Rice was extremely overcooked and mushy, might as well have been cement, in texture, taste, and quality. Rice is such an important part of sushi, and to get that so horribly wrong is unforgivable. Their quality of wasabi was poor as well: mint green, almost teal in color, without any depth to it at all. Won’t ever order from there again, and will never suggest it to anyone.

I typically don't write reviews and feel bad sending food back, however, this was a terrible experience. I called in an order for pick up around 1130 a.m. and when I arrived, the place looked like it was midnight and not ready to be open. The way they had the fish laying out and prepared made me question my order. Nonetheless, I paid for my order and took it back to the office. When I first opened the container, I was in shock by how big the roll was. When I tried to use my chopstick to pick up the sushi, the entire piece fell apart. There was so much rice, too much sauce, and the rice was very gooey and mushy. It did not hold the sushi well. After two bites of the sushi, I felt nauseous and had to stop eating. I called back and my intention was to just return the roll and call it a day. The lady on the phone was combative and said no return no refund. Their customer service is very poor. I don't recommend and will never be ordering or recommending this restaurant.

I went to this place with my toddler today. Place was very clean and welcoming. Loved the food neat and fresh! My toddler loved udon and shrimp tempura roll. there is various choices for kids too. Not too salty nor sweet. The owner and the server was so nice to both of us and very friendly. Would definitely visit again!

If you want real sushi this is the spot, convenient location, right over the GWB minutes from NYC. A cozy atmosphere with great customer service and good prices. The food is super tasty you will not be disappointed. Beats any and all sushi restaurants in NYC.

I love this cozy restaurant. The sushi chef is a great guy and is always excited to see my family. I love the crab salad they have, the miso and the sushi!
It does only have a few tables but it is worth it to get amazing sushi.

The sushi is not fresh. There is a gross fishy smell and when you eat it you can tell it’s old fish. The cooked food is ok tasting like the udon.

Black shrimp tempura? That looks like expired shrimp to me. This is disgusting talked to management and they were very quick to just get us off the phone. Never order from here again. It’s cheap sushi for a reason.

I recently ordered from Akasaka this past weekend and I have to say this might be my new favorite sushi place. I ordered the sushi & roll platter to share with a few friends and we all agreed that the rolls and sashimi tasted so fresh. They were so accommodating when I asked to get toro sushi (for an additional fee) in the platter instead. Their miso soup was seasoned perfectly, not too bland or salty. Also, I love how they gave us plenty of wasabi and ginger. Support your local business and order from Akasaka!

Price/quality ratio is above and beyond! The service is even better!! The chef/owner told me the story on how his wife and him been doing the restaurant for all the years with pride and joy, the longest standing sushi restaurant in north jersey. DEF MUST TRY. I have been craving sushi for some time and I was extremely happy I decided to try this place :) Recommended for take out!

As a sushi lover, I was impressed with their fresh fish and neat hand skills by the sushi chef. The sushi chef has over 25 years of experience in sushi making and I could taste and confirm that. It seems like there are more to-go orders but I would gladly drop by this local sushi place and eat delicious sushi with my friends! Wonderful!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a fantastic sushi restaurant, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. The first thing that impressed me was the high quality of the sushi. Each piece was beautifully presented and incredibly fresh, showcasing the chef’s expertise and attention to detail. The flavors were delicate and well-balanced, making every bite a delightful experience.

One of the standout aspects of this restaurant was the great price. Despite the exceptional quality of the sushi, the menu offered affordable options that catered to various budgets. It was refreshing to enjoy such high-caliber sushi without breaking the bank. The value for money was truly remarkable.

Overall, I highly recommend this sushi restaurant.

Excellent sushi. Way above average quality. Expensive. Air conditioner should have been higher on a hot muggy day. For some reason they serve free hot green tea instead of ice water and I was already uncomfortably warm. Other than that it was Excellent food.

Dinner was amazing!!! Went for dinner with my family for my mothers birthday! We ordered the Chef’s special Platter! The roll selection was amazing and the best part was the sashimi, tuna, and yellowtail! It was so fresh and yummy the tuna melted in my mouth. Thank u so much this is definitely one of the best local sushi spots in NJ.

Great lunch deals for $11 that include a huge miso soup and a lot of Nigri/rolls. Quantity/size is bigger than average, so the lunch deal was really more than enough for each of us 4.

We ordered a lunch set each, tried the California+shrimp, the spicy tuna+salmon, and the spicy salmon+tuna. All great, good rolling technique, very little rice to everything else ratio (so generous with the fish and avocado).

Please don't change, loved it all!

According to all the reviews, this restaurant offers All You Can Eat sushi. The host told me that day they don't offer AYCE sushi when I was there that night. Are they going to stop offering AYCE forever or are they going to offer it on a specific date?

Price is reasonable even without AYCE. Most of the rolls we ordered were special rolls. They were all delicious, better than I expected.

The staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely, I would return.

Went to this place for lunch and quickly discovered it was a gem. Their lunch special gets you massive sushi rolls stuffed with tuna or salmon for only $11.00. Amazing value. Plus a generous sized bowl of miso soup. I’ll definitely be back!

We had all-you-can-eat with my bf. We choose lots of sushi, rolls, salad, and katsu. All food was delicious, and their service was nice. It’s $35 per person, and I had to pay $15 more and pack because of leftovers.

We’ve been going here for years but the quality has really declined. We usually take out around once a week from here. Last few times have been mediocre but today the rolls weee just inedible. Called for the first time to complain and they said unless we drive 25 minutes to show them the food, they can’t refund our meal. I would understand if we were a one and done but they know us to be regulars and we’ve never called to complain before, even when we should have, as we assumed it was just a bad day. But this time the quality of the fish was just too poor and it’s worrisome that they would even serve this. The fish didn’t taste fresh; was slimy and sinewy and of the seven rolls we ended up eating only 1 between the 4 of us. Think we will be looking elsewhere based on their response.
I ordered teriyaki two times and it tasted very delicious. It would be better if it was crispy. It's just that I saw a comment below saying that there is a discount for cash payment, but I also paid in cash but there was no discount. So minus one star.

Best sushi place my wife and I have hit up in NJ thus far. We each had the sushi omakase which were reasonably priced at $70 per. We do not like blue-back skinned fish so asked them for white-back skinned fish for which they were very accommodating. Each piece was flavored just right and i loved the texture and the amount of rice. We each got a course of edemame with egg soup, sushi, small udon, and ice cream with mochi. Udon noodle was superb and you get a choice of green tea or red bean ice cream. Service was great and very attentive and helpful. You do need to make a reservation as we have tried in the past to do a walk in couple of times and failed. We were there sat night and saw few people attempt and fail walk-ins as well. This is good because they seem to care more about food quality and the experience over maximize turntime and number of people served. I was honestly impressed with the spot.

PJ Sushi = VALUE. You get pretty good sushi for a great price AND the service is quick and friendly.

My family (of 6) LOVES this place and we order here at least once or twice a month. We have not been disappointed which is why I am giving a rating of 5 stars.

Our favorite rolls are the david special, shrimp tempura, salmon avocado, and dragon roll. Also really love their sashimi.

A few things to note:
- The sushi is not super high quality (they're pretty big and fall apart sometimes) but it is REALLY REALLY good for what you're paying. Their sashimi pieces are also huge and really tasty :)
- The place is a small mom and pops shop with indoor seating, but it's probably better to order to go. The inside is kinda dark and empty.

tldr: if you're in the area and want good sushi for a good price, go to PJ sushi.
Got a large sashimi platter for Thanksgiving. Glad they were open but also wish they weren't. Small portions, not overly tasty sushi, and way overpriced for what you get. That platter cost $120. Nope, not ever again.

$64 for this ! I ordered 2 simple rolls , spicy salmon and avocado roll . Ok i get it uni is the most expensive, but tiny rolls of basic yellowtail is $11 , I understand its not the cheapest place to begin with , but it has $$ which in comparison to Sushi Cruise or Picnic , has a big difference in sizes . I could barely see my fish in the rolls . Secondly only one piece of sushi for $7 , where all other places have 2 pieces of sushi in a set. Food was good, but disappointed in portions and definitely not worth 64 bucks for one person

Had dinner here last night. We ordered a chicken hibachi meal and an eel avocado roll. The food took a while to come out but when it did we were surprised that the brown rice they serve is actually purple rice. We're Korean so we're used to it but I imagine most people would wonder why the rice was so dark. The food was good. I think the hibachi chicken was not salty which I liked. Some people may think it's bland. It would be good with some sriracha sauce. It was a bit noisy so if you're trying to take a date there, I don't recommend it. I did see some families there so it's perfect for families.

TAKE OUT ONLY! It was good but not as good as I expected. The Wasabi was water down, the rice seemed slightly wet, and the special roll was only 5 pieces (I would've bought another roll if I knew). But the fish was fresh and the rolls are tasty. Not bad for a take out sushi place.

What a pleasant surprise. The sushi was great, comes at a reasonable price. I would go back to try their omakase. Need to make a reservation to ensure a spot. My friend called two days earlier and while we were dining we saw a couple being turned away because the tables were all booked. Speaks to the level of popularity of the restaurant.

This is my go-to sushi spot now. Not only is the food impeccable, the service is also top notch. The sushi chef studied Japanese cuisine and knows a lot about sushi so you can expect the best quality sushi. If you order, get the platters! You will have to try all of the chef’s selections.
I ordered a couple of their party platters for an event I was hosting and they exceeded my expectations! Every platter was done beautifully not to mention how delicious their food was. My guests couldn’t stop raving about the food. I will definitely and happily order from them in the future.

Omakase, chirashi, Tuna lover, salmon lover rolls and 1 uni sushi. Best Uni I have had, sweet with no fishy smell, super rich. Quality and service is impeccable. Bathroom is very clean. Got free soup for everyone at the table, nice free warm soybean appetizer. Played chopsticks peanut picking contest with kids while waiting for my order. The free ice cream ball was a nice surprise. Red bean and green tea flavor are the best ever. Sweet salty red bean ice cream and bitter refreshing macha ice cream are perfect sized to bring smile to my face when I received the check.

Waitress was friendly. Food was ok. Soft shell crab was good, not too much batter. Most fish pieces were thin or small. Tasted fresh. Salmon cuts were not good. Chirashi deluxe was 14 pieces of fish. Tofu apertizer was good. Price was ok for the portion.

Super nice and friendly service. I ordered large Sushi & sashimi platter, which had over 30 pieces of sushi, 1 roll and some sashimi - good for sharing. Everything was fresh and delicious. Will go back for more next time.
I have tried A LOT of sushi from different places throughout NJ and this is probably the best sushi I have had so far! All of the fish tastes very fresh and the flavors are amazing. The presentation is also beautiful for every dish and the price is great! I highly recommend! (Note: it's not a dine-in place, it's only for take out)
One of the best sushi I've ever had. Phenomenal presentation that's met with the expectations of flavor. I've been to a lot sushi restaurants and this at the top.

Very great sushi spot, the AYCE option was well worth it. Great assortment of options and unique choices not common of many other AYCE sushi spots. This is the first time I visit this Japanese restaurant. Very impressive! The fish quality is top notch! The taste is genuine "Nihon Aji". All my family did enjoy a wonderful meal at this special period. By the way, the staffs are very friendly and the service is good too.

Chef Li is absolutely phenomenal! The price point makes complete sense when you’re considering the quality of fish and seafood you’re getting. I can not recommend the salmon and yellowtail nigiri enough, and the scallops and uni are staples that my family orders every single time. You would not find a better, higher quality sushi restaurant on this side of the Hudson. Trust me, I’ve tried.

Went here for omakase, was phenomenal. Fish was fresh, rice was great, staff was attentive and friendly. Price was great -- 55 for 10 pieces with complimentary udon and dessert. Would definitely recommend, especially as an option outside of NYC.
