Is this place still open?
Roaches and bandaids floating around (every single time I go) but the staff is nice and very reliable.
Great swim center - stays maintained.
Exactly what you need out of a local public indoor pool. I come here regularly to swim laps, and it feels like a neighborhood. Guards are friendly, pool and hot tub are reliable, locker rooms are clean. 4 lap lanes on a regular basis, and locker rooms aren’t the biggest but sufficient. -1 star because the showers in the ladies’ room keep breaking and DPR has been slow to implement a permanent solution.
Pool is fantastic. Staff kind helpful courteous and professional. The women's locker room is small so the city needs to work harder to keep the showers working.

Man, Jerry is awesome. Able to handle a large class and give kids the attention they need. He’s extremely charismatic and exciting and it translates to the parents and kids seamlessly! He projected confidence and it gave my two kids the confidence to let go of the wall and start going for it. Can’t say enough about him! As far as the communication piece: he’s obviously has gotten better because he’s timely and let’s us know well in advance if there are any changes, which gives us predictability. 10/10 recommend

Owner needs an assistant to help with communication. My son has taken swim lessons on and off for 8 years. He was swimming after 2 lessons with Coach Jerry. He is the best swim coach.
Great pool lifeguards everywhere. Only thing is water VERY cold appearently their water heater is down and has been for a while. Once your in you'll definitely need to keep move and keep most of your body submerged.
Echoing review below. Business is non-responsive and has not communicated with clients regarding canceled classes, etc.
This pool is HUGE! Water was pretty cold but not as cold as Rumsey…you can adjust to this lol. AND there’s a hot tub!!!!! I always appreciated a ramp entry for the little ones as well. There’s plenty of places to sit (bleachers), it’s warm inside the facility (that’s what made the water temp more bearable too) and there’s lap lanes and a diving board! Overall good. Will definitely be back!
We signed our toddler up for spring lessons with Brookland Swim Academy. The morning of (like 90 minutes before) our first lesson the owner, Jerry, told me my payment didn’t go through and also told me the lesson was canceled due to an issue at Deanwood Aquatic Center, but that it would be rescheduled. I’ve since tried for nearly 2 weeks to get in touch, but the mailbox is full and the owner doesn’t return calls. I called Deanwood this afternoon and was told that Jerry does not have a permit to operate at DC recreation centers and was not allowed to operate a business/teach swim at their location. A real bummer as we were really excited to bring our daughter to lessons!
Nice and descent place...I go hear to learn classes for kids...its indoor...nothing fancy but pretty cool...old facility...
Never any lifeguards on duty so you can't get in to swim...frustrating...dirty locker rooms
A few years ago this was a great facility. It's fallen into disrepair lately. It's not as sparkly clean as it once was. Some of the showers don't work. The shower that does work has a loose and rusty fitting at the wall. The water pressure is low too. They no longer keep the shower soap dispensers filled with soap. The bathing suit dryer in the men's locker room is out of service. There's grime on tiles in the locker room. They don't always open on time. Still, if your just looking to get in a quick swim and your in the neighborhood it gets the job done.
I was very sure there'd be sharks, it kills me to think about it. No sharks= lame
Great instructor for babies to elders
This week too much chlorine in the pool. The smell was very strong it had my eyes burning and I didn't even put my head under the water.😏
However the ladies locker room was much cleaner than my previous visit🙄🤨

These are pictures of the ladies showers, where someone has left there hair behind🤨
These other pictures are of the hot tub with this thick ring of dirt and foam, thus forcing people out of the hot tub!🤔🤔😏
They closed a hour early to put chemicals in the pool. Which in my opinion should have been done once the pool was closed. Swimming equipment was not available until after 30 minutes after I entered the pool.
Attended Senior Water Aerobics. Excellent class.
Was in the neighborhood and wanted to swim some laps. So I call to hear about their policies. 7 dollars for non DC residents. No cash. OK, sounds fair. I'll just bring my wallet and leave it in a locker.

Pool facilities are pretty nice. Lots of families taking advantage of the fountain and the life jackets.

I swim my laps. Probably in the pool for 45 minutes. Dry off, change, get my stuff. In less than ten minutes the fraud department of my bank had called me. Someone had carefully swiped the credit cards out of my wallet. In 45 minutes. So glad they didn't take my ID and my phone was in my car.

I suppose I should be more careful in locker rooms.
Nice facility, needs to have extended morning hours
