Excellent experience of a new cuisine for me. Modest difficulty with the menu app - some pictures and some descriptions were missing and some items were not available. (No crab salad. 😞😄) Fantastic Greek salad and tasty soups and kebobs. Possibly a European app since maximum default tip was only 12% so I entered a custom tip. Very friendly and helpful staff. I totally enjoyed this unique experience.

One of my favorite restaurants in the city. Service is impeccable, drinks are delicious. And the food is truly the best Greek/Mediterranean I’ve ever had. Could not recommend more.

I drove all the way from Jersey to try this place, and it was absolutely worth it 10/10! The food was fresh, clean, and delicious, with flavors that reminded me so much of Moroccan cuisine. Highly recommend!!!!

I’m going to be honest here and state the fact that their food is really good. Flavorful and touching all the right notes and everything. However the service is so bad that I was going to get up and leave before the main course showed up.

At one point I was going to go to the bar to get my drinks myself. They are clearly understaffed and the half of the staff they have doesn’t understand the concept of “prioritizing.” I watched my drink, a glass of wine, sat at the bar for more than 10 minutes while the wait staff was serving another table (seated after us) their bottle of wine. Same thing happened with our soft drinks.

I had to ask for the dessert menu after the owner/manager checked on me, (when my partner was in the restroom), to see if we needed anything else. Clearly we had our main course done, it’s only expected to ask for after dinner drinks/dessert. Not here. After our dessert, I asked the check from the owner/manager again, and watched him walk around aimlessly and deliver some other table’s check before ours even though they asked after us. I don’t know if they had something against us as a table or just having a bad night, but the service was simply unacceptable.

Bussers were kind and on point though! So, it’s not a staff issue but rather an issue with the management trying to save money by being understaffed.

My family came here to eat and it was a wonderful experience. I got the lamb and it was so tender it fell right off the bone. The spreads were delicious.
The service was great. I forgot the waiters name but he was very personable. Very nice and very knowledgeable of the menu.
The restaurant definitely had a family friendly kind of vibe. Mostly adults but it was very pleasant to eat at the restaurant. They offer valet parking.

Finally, a place that does kebabs right!

You can see from the picture that the lamb I cut into is moist but not red, just slightly pink. Perfectly cooked and tender. You can also see the juicy drippings from the other kebabs on the plate in the background. I ordered the ground beef, lamb loin and liver. They were all well seasoned. Would definitely come back again.

Overview:

This is a very nice neighborhood establishment intended for the nearby Uzbeki community. For those unfamiliar, it would be fair to say it's a cross between Russian and Turkish cuisine; very much indicative of the region... (look up Uzbekistan on Google Maps).

Vibe:

I would characterize this place as great for solo diners looking for a quick lunch or dinner; also great for a couple/few dude-friends grabbing a quick bite. This is not a place I would send my gf, wife or daughter into alone... Characteristic to the culture it represents, there's a masculine forward energy to this institution; I would bring my gf/wife here for dinner but def not unaccompanied. The back dining area has a very local male community colloquial vibe. The main dining area can be a bit busy with groups of loud male patrons bursting in regularly, waking to and from the counter/display case and a very obvious and drastic josteling dip in the floorboards below your chair as they do so. I can be somewhat boystrous at times...

Service:

Service here is absolutely attentive, accommodating and welcoming. With that said, it's not western style structured table service. Standard staples such as glasses and knives (to cut your meat) aren't necessarily brought without asking. There is a self-service element to this place. You CAN order from the (digital QR code) menu alone, but it's much more comprehensive to simply stand up and check the huge glass display case for what's available. Same applies to paying, you can call a waiter to ask for the check but most clearly approach the checkout counter... If you do order the check there's no tip line on the receipt, so walking up is preferable is you want to...

Food:

Very simply this is a (shish) kabob/skewer house. While there are some supplemental items on the larger menu, such as soups and salads. This is primarily a place to go for meat, fish and veggie skewers. Those unfamiliar, however, with Uzbeki cuisine be advised, the meat is HIGHLY (over?) seasoned. It's meant to be offset by other elements served such as the accompanying red sauce, raw onion plate and special Uzbeki bread that is a cross between like a keiser roll and pita bread; it's firm but fluffy. With the accoutrements the flavors really do balance out nicely, so reserve judgement of the seasoning for the overall balance... Dating diners be advised this cuisine is highly raw onion oriented 😉😂. As a Muslim culture/institution obviously no alcohol is served or offered; I would recommend not BYOB either.

Cost:

Unlike other ethnic eateries in the immediately adjacent/surrounding areas, Uzbeki places are on the higher end. I wouldn't characterize it as super expensive but a very far cry from the Pakistani and Bangladeshi offerings in the area. Uzbeki will run you at least $40-50 per person. However it is certainly a lighter, healthier option.

Outstanding grilled meats .super fresh super delicious. The place is real simple .so is the service. It's a locals only type of place . But they are starting to welcome outsiders. Definitely some of the best shishka.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Shalshik House in Brooklyn, and I have to say, the kabob was simply amazing, the best I've ever had! My favorite was definitely he Lula kabob and lamb chop. I ate it along with their red sauce and raw vinegar sliced onion, it was perfect!
While the ambience may be nothing fancy, it has a certain charm and coziness that makes you feel right at home.
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant experience. I also appreciated the reasonable prices, especially for the high quality of the food. It’s as authentic it can get! All in all, Shalshik House is a hidden gem that I will definitely be visiting again. Highly recommended to anyone in the area looking for delicious and authentic kabobs!

In my case, the property closing was completed entirely online. That kept me from venturing outside during the outbreak, which may have happened otherwise

Excellent food. Excellent service. Excellent wines. Excellent atmosphere.
I ordered the New York Steak (medium). Highly recommend. I was able to try the lamb chops which were just as good. Our table loved the wines. As well as the octopus appetizer. Every dish was delicious. You cannot go wrong.

Took longer to get handed the menus than to get the food after ordering. Had to ask a second time for my drink order after it was missing when everyone else at the table got theirs.
Out of our party of 6, everyone enjoyed their food.

"My experience at this place was simply exceptional. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the unique decor that created a cozy yet elegant ambiance. Every detail had been carefully thought out, from the dim lighting to the decorative elements that added a touch of sophistication.

The background music was perfectly selected, at a volume that allowed for effortless conversation while also adding to the overall enjoyment. It created a pleasant atmosphere that contributed to the overall experience.

I started the evening with a Negroni with mezcal, a bold choice that resulted in a surprisingly balanced and delicious cocktail. The seafood appetizer of the day was a burst of fresh and exquisite flavors, clearly showcasing the chef's talent in masterfully combining ingredients.

The tomato salad was a refreshing delight, highlighting the quality of the ingredients used. However, the highlight of the night was the dish of tuna with wheat and chanterelle mushrooms. Chef Ivan showcased his mastery in creating a combination of flavors and textures that was simply spectacular. The smoky touch added a unique and indescribable dimension that had to be experienced to be understood.

The company of my daughter made this dinner even more special, and the photos we took perfectly capture the beauty of each dish. I want to extend my sincere praise to the chef and the entire team behind this culinary experience. Their attention to detail and passion for cooking were reflected in every dish that arrived at our table.

In summary, my experience at this restaurant was simply perfect. The decor, music, food, and service all came together to create an unforgettable evening. Without a doubt, I recommend everyone to visit this place and enjoy a culinary experience that exceeds all expectations. Bravo to Chef Ivan and his team!"

Not sure if it was owner, but he had a potbelly and tan, male pattern on head. pink shirt. Mean. Rude behavior. I didnt want to write this until I asked locals and they say its the owner, which is more bad than it being an untrained manager. My sister in law was allergic to mostly all of the menu, we are group of 3. We already placed an order of $120 dollars of food that night. 2 entrees, 3 appetizers, 3 drinks.

We are hungry. After we ordered we asked for extra plate so my sister in law can eat her own food from home. Servers smiled and help right away. But this potbelly guy come over to our small table that really should have no more than 2 people and complained. He said we were taking up space from people who were "all going to order and eat" together. He made the server uncomfortable. We already placed an order for over $120 dollars of food and drinks but still he has the nerve? Many couples dining? Was he gonna put 2 more in their tiny table? We over ordered and got more drinks, expresso, sweets since we planned to celebrate that night, bill coming out close to $200. We didn't let him ruin our night but felt unwelcome the whole time and rush so much so he can try to seat 4 people to our small table. Let's be real, this is NOT an upscale place but he really want it to be.

Dont even have a good picture of food, without all my husbands hairy arm the, napkins, everything pushed on the small table. CHEAPO AND DISRESPECTFUL. PICTURES SHOW THIS IS A REAL REVIEW. AND FOOD PORTIONS ARE SMALL l baby food. all pure CANOLA oil is yellow in food. DRINKS WEAK, what the hell for that prices!! Food service is serivce hijo. We laugh about this memory, this cow. Review from 2 months ago, I had to fix typo. I felt the same still
The fried eggplant was horrible. Prices are way too high and not even worth it. Don't waste your time and money. Even my daughter didn't even eat it. She isn't A picky person. I won't recommend it.

Very authentic. Owners are Turkish. The food is great. I had the Karisk Pide and I want to try other items on the menu. My aunt ordered the lamb kabob and she said it was very flavorful.
