Came here with intentions of a dinner date and they exceeded my expectations all across the board! In specific DJ ; very attentive, very knowledgeable, friendly and overall amazing energy! I’d recommend for everyone & even, I, myself will be returning! - The spinach artichoke dip with the garlic bread was AMAZING ☺️

Came in to matchbox for one drink stayed for 3 hours. Herbert has fantastic service he is great at recommending drinks. The restaurant was slow but Herbert was so attentive. He cared about details like refilling waters when I didn't ask bringing extra napkins. I will be coming back to matchbox only if Herbert is my bartender !!

Stopped by this Matchbox DC after a hockey game with my boyfriend, and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. The food arrived cold, and the pepperoni lacked flavor, just super salty. The pizza dough was soft and undercooked, which was disappointing for a pizza spot. Customer service was just okay—staff seemed rushed and not very friendly. For the high prices, I expected much better quality and experience. There are definitely other chains that do a simple pizza pie much better.

My husband and I LOVE eating at Matchbox Pizza, and we've been to most of them in the DC area. Never disappointed. And our visit to the Capitol Hill locations met expectations. Great service from Jefferson, and our compliments to the chefs. The ambience and atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We will definitely be back.

Very disappointed, pizza tastes as if it’s stale and has been sitting out. No fresh tomatoes or jalapeños in my Greek salad also the lettuce needs to be rinsed more thoroughly. There’s no way you’re telling me those tomatoes were fresh and the lettuce needs to be rinsed throughly. Here’s my bank charge since you think I’m confused!

This is one of the better places for pizza on the hill. They have a good happy hour and brunch on the weekends (especially the unlimited option that comes with the excellent breakfast pizza). They used to have an excellent chicken sandwich but changed it recently and it's not as good. The atmosphere inside is very inviting and it's an excellent place to watch a game at the bar.

In general, the wait staff seemed a bit disorganized but the bartender had my back!
Crispy chicken sandwich was fantastic...came with a deviled egg topping/dressing... delicious!
Shoestring fries NVR my fav...go cold too quick

We went in on a whim and ended up having a wonderful time. From the moment we walked in the service (hostess) and bartender were very attentive. The food was absolutely delicious along with the service and staff. We ordered off of the restaurant week special and it did not fail! Thank you all and We will definitely be back.

Amazing calzones, good prices and great staff. No dine-in option if you need it, but it's still worth picking up and taking home.

Order through Uber eats and the food was absolutely horrible. The pizza was literally spoiled. The mozzarella sticks were literally freezer burnt. Nothing was fresh at all. This was my first and last experience with this restaurant.

Nice place, server was very chill and friendly. He wanted us to have a great experience. Unfortunately the trash was overflowing and the place seemed a bit tossed about. But if you're okay with that, this is a really good little pizza shop.

Great pizza by the slice, good value for the price. The space is small and more for takeout than eating in, but they do have some stools where you can sit and eat if you choose. Close to the Holiday Inn we were staying at, and a great option for lunch or dinner.

We came here this evening to enjoy the wood oven pizza and some draft beer. The host sat is outdoors and gave us menus. After 15 minutes of waiting, I walked in and wanted to remind myself. She asked where we were sitting. I said, you sat us outside like 15 minutes ago. I said can anybody bring us at least some water while we wait. She said she is going to find us a server but with a terrible attitude. She literally pointed her finger at me and raised her voice. She apologized but it was more like saying, stop creating trouble. Then our waiter came. She was nice but very sloppy. They had everything backward. Food arrived first, then beer, then silverware. They were socializing with other customers while bringing beer to us. The pizza was less than mediocre. My parents had garden veggie pizza which tasted terrible. It says roasted veggies but they were put on the pizza raw. I had their fire and smoke pizza. It was okay. The cheese was almost solidified on top and the pizza wasn’t hot. My husband had match box meat lover pizza, and said it was good. Overall, we waited around 45 minutes to eat very below average pizza. If I were a restaurant owner, I would prefer identifying my restaurant as an establishment with delicious food and excellent service. They seem to focus on wrong factors to differentiate themselves. We will never come back here and recommend that you don’t waste your time waiting for food.

The food at Sicilian Pizza is excellent. Our family's favorite pizza is the Italian Special. Also the staff is friendly, the pizzas are cooked quickly and the service is superb. We order pizza from here on a regular basis.

Best Neapolitan style pizza in the DC area, hands-down. There are some places that come close, but 2 Amys remains the gold standard. They are not the cheapest, however, the quality of the ingredients and the fantastic service are worth the price paid. I especially appreciate the fact that servers are paid a fair wage and service is included in the price of the food. No guessing games when the bill comes.

My family had a great Sunday and went to this pizza place to feed the hungry kids. After paying, the kids ate the pizza in the car while I was driving home. They said the bottom of the pizza clutter was very burned, and they couldn't eat it, so I checked.
One child took off the cluster, threw it away, and ate only the cheese.
When I turned the back of the pizza and saw that it was so black, I told the kids not to eat it.
Would you be able to feed this blackened pizza to your children?
If I had checked under the pizza when I picked it up, I wouldn't have bought it.
Since I was already on my way home, I couldn't file a claim, so I came home, took a picture, and threw it away.
I'm so disappointed this shop!!!

I wish people who make and sell pizza would think about the health of their customers rather than just thinking about money.
Burnt food causes cancer.

This pizza stop will be a must have every time I am in DC! The crust was the best I have ever had due to the perfect crisp AND flavor! Plus, the customer service was incredible. We went at dinner time and then again as a late night “snack.”

If you like cold pizza the next morning, make sure to get an extra slice or two! It was delicious then, too!

Also. Kudos to the person who picks the music vibe. It made me dance as I waited!

Great pizza! Great prices! Grab the side salad because the restaurant puts care into building an amazing salad. The pizza has a perfect crust and the sauce is savory. The owner was super nice. Customer service matters here.

It's good for what it is. The crust is nice and thin, and it has a nice crisp to it. I thought the cheese blend was a bit boring, though. The service and ordering process are questionable. There was trash blocking the bathroom. The tables were not clean. The workers couldn't take charge and effectively manage the lunch rush. One dude was not operationally proficient in English to be taking orders. But at the end of the day, pizza is still pizza, and I would go here again in a pinch.

The pizza was delicious and was prepared very quickly. But there is no indoor area for seating so if it is cold outside, you will be eating your pizza while freezing

Felt comfortable dining alone. Food, service, and atmosphere was right. I tried the sardines (first time!!), which were surprisingly nice. Pizza was delicious. Cannolis and espresso were excellent.

Personally speaking, I liked the food as it satisfied my hunger. The area is also a plus as it is in “The Wharf.” The vegetables were cooked and there is unlimited chili flakes and extra parmesan cheese! 😋😋

This NYC style pizza joint is just a couple of blocks from the national mall is now my local. Costs are reasonable, quality is excellent - tough find in DC SW! They sell whole or by the slice and they also do calzones - check their site for other items as well. This is a small place but they do have indoor seating - barstools and benchtops. Used to government workers and their lunch - so very fast - i was in and out in less than 15 for made to order pie (Half-Hawaiian/Half-Pepperoni). Not on the menu but they did it as the base sauce was the same. Highly recommend!

Love love love this restaurant. It's such a gem. The food and service are both impeccable and it feels like you're eating in Europe.

Highlyyyy recommend the Etna 2.0 eggplant pizza. I didn't even think I'd like it that much from the sound of it but BOY was it the best pizza I've ever put in my mouth. I'm still dreaming about it to this day.

All the appetizers I've tried are mouth wateringly delicious, especially the meatballs.
Also recommend the almond cake!!! Scrumptious. Even their cappuccino is A++.

Skip all the restaurants nearby and come here, you won't regret it.

Bonus: no tip!! Cost of service is included with the food :)
Best Neapolitan pizza in DC, and some of the best Neapolitan pizza in the country (and we just crossed it - 44 states). This place specializes in FRESH ingredients for both their pizzas & appetizers, and it really shows — far more than other restaurants. They rotate pizzas & appetizers regularly for seasonally fresh items. The prosciutto is to die for - especially the higher end one. I think the Santa Brigida with prosciutto is the best pizza, my wife likes the Norcia, and my mom the Etna 2.0. The wines are also very good - the Super Tuscan goes very well with pizza. The almond cake with cherries is an amazing dessert. This is our favorite restaurant in DC.

It’s also very family friendly.

No reservations (which I love), so if you go after 6 be prepared to wait 20-30 mins.

Got the pizza with sausage and peppers pizza and wow, I did not expect such an over cheesed, processed, dumpster fire of a pizza. Chuck E Cheese serves up better pies. Strong recommendation to get anything else on the menu and avoid this pizza.

Good food options.
It was fresh and delicious food. I did not like the Mushroom pizza that much but their sausage pizza was delicious . Olives were ok.
Service on the phone was good and the food was ready for pick up in 20 mins as they advertise.

Nice place in the area to try out. Is it the best pizza in the DC? The answer is No.
But give this place a try if you are in the area.

Decent late night pizza. Thing. Very crispy. I don’t trust the critic who said it’s in the top 5 slices of pizza in DC
This was amazing! We go the garlic sauce pizza and bread stick after our flight into Washington. We got there right before it closed. Great service! The night after we spent over $60 for two of us and the pizza which was less than $20 was just as good if not better! The service was superb. Very please. Will be coming back again and again. Every time I stop in Washington DC

This was a last minute dinner stop and we didn't know what to expect. In my opinion a good pizza is a 2 to 1 topping to crust ration and Union Pie knocked it out of the park. It took about 15min to make and was just the right crunchiness. It is more of a thin layered crust but they nailed it. Great spot right by the water as well. Highly highly recommend.

Pretty good pizza! We got a half a pizza after we saw a show at the Anthem. It was a little to well done and the only had 5 pizza options. But not bad for a late night snack.

I am European who visited Italy min 50 times before relocating to the US 6 years ago. This is hands down THE best Italian food outside of Italy i ever had. I LOVE everything about this place. The authentic food, the outstanding delicious in store baked bread, the home made Limoncello to the "Service included". The this my new favorite restaurant. Trust me, you have to try this.

Ordered fun guy pizza. It tasted like lemon, the mushrooms were like cardboard, the crust was burnt, and I couldn’t taste any truffle cream.

Perfect for drunks, Union Pie is a perfectly acceptable late-night snack.

U.P. is a cute little shack at The Wharf not too far from The Anthem. There’s a limited but specific amount of pizza varieties, and most people should be able to find what they’re looking for. Patrons will also find that they can customize their pre-made pizzas, as I was able to get custom vegetarian pies made.

However, the life of these pies is about five minutes, as they congeal quickly, similar to a large pizza from 7-Eleven, but at least 7-Eleven charges no more than $5.

All-in-all, it’s serviceable food, just temper your expectations.

Great place for a quick bite. The pizza crust is thin, because of this all the grease easily falls out of the pizza. The pepperoni was a quarter size and curbed in due to the type and temperature cooked. Basically eating cheese and pepperoni on a cracker. The misses loved her white pizza with vinaigrette and arugula.

This is one of the best pizza I've had in a long time! Speedy delivery as well. I used to order from here years ago and now I'm trying to figure out why I stopped! When you have pizza this good you have loyal customers for life!
