After a visit to the zoo, I had a bittersweet experience. While I appreciated the educational aspects and conservation efforts, seeing animals in captivity raised ethical concerns. The zoo provided a well-maintained environment and educational opportunities, but it prompted reflection on our responsibility toward wildlife and the balance between conservation and animal welfare.

A quiet and serene place maintained well by authorities. Variety of animals birds and reptiles. Ideal place to spend a quiet weekend. Make sure to do a weather check before visiting.
Very well maintained zoo , lots of animals ,birds and trees. Reptile house only has cobra , viper , rat snake ,krait, vine snake , python. But it is included in the ticket fee so nothing to complain... Lots of butterflies were seen too . Definitely visit!

Well maintained place. There were not many animals to be seen. But there were tiger, lion and hippo as main attraction. Variety of snakes and birds are also to be seen. Only Rs.20 per head for entry. There is also small kids park. Recommended to families. Only exemption is the parking. Overall perfect spot.
A beautiful and well designed zoo. Inside a museum also there. Also a 3d show theatre.

Museum is having a few but good things to see.
Only a few animals are there in the zoo but if you're going with kids , they'll love it.I think the new zoo will be far better than this one.

rooms used by Rama Varma Sakthan Thampuran is on display; Royal horse wagon is displayed in the main building;

Zoo is a Good Place for Visiting with Children. Children till 10 Years Age will Enjoy thoroughly. Museum has Very Good, Finely Preserved Old Articles and Skeletal Remains, Stuffed Remains of Animals and Birds of many Species.
The zoo has a 2 hour worth seeing. Not many varieties considering the zoo in thiruvananthapuram, but those animals are in more numbers. The archeological museum is also an attraction.
Thrissur (formerly the Trichur Zoo) is a 13.5-acre (5.5 ha) zoo that opened in 1885 in a small area called Chembukkavu, in the heart of Thrissur City, Kerala, India. It is one of the oldest zoos in the country and is home to a wide variety of animals, reptiles, and birds. The zoo compound includes a natural history museum and an art museum that showcase the social and cultural heritage of the region. The Thrissur Zoo is 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from the Thrissur City center and is open from 10:00 AM till 5:15 PM, except on Mondays. Being one of the two Zoological Parks in the state of Kerala, it sees many visitors on a regularly. Still and video cameras are allowed in the park for a small fee.
The Zoo has got nice trees and empty cages. Not well maintained like other zoos Thiruvananthapuram, bangalore, Mysore, Byculla mumbai,Chennai Kevadia gujarat has much better zoos. The staff is really great they are very helpful in assisting you with names of different trees. But then the ticket price is also just ₹20 for an adult and ₹40 for a family of 2A+2C. It's very close to the temple hardly 2kms.There are a huge number of deers.Dont think the Zoo is busy at all.

Lion,leopard and tiger were there in carnivorous section and many other species are there.
Some of the cages are empty now.

So a good place for visit with family and children when u come to Thrissur.
Children should be more excited when they see these animals in real for the first time.

Every time I visit there occur changes in the museum.. both good and bad. Good one is there are tiled walkways, rest area, clock room, drinking water counter. Bad change is that number of animals and birds are decreasing. Museum premises are kept very much clean whether it is the places reachable by public or the cages of animals. Beautification of garden is done and well maintained. Though animals are less in numbers I prefer this as a must visit place. As there are art museum and immense seating facilities., nature friendly in between the city. You get so many seniaric places to photograph . So its worthy.

The distinctive aspect of palaces in SW Indian state of Kerala is its ''elegance in simplicity.'' They are impressive, inspiring and cool to our eyes as they are in sync with native culture and terrain, ghat area that gets lots of rain during the monsoons. The slopping tiled roof and gables at certain places and elaborate use of wood in the form of rafters, pillars, beams and cross beams, etc., make them stand apart. The masonry walls are thick that gives the structure a strong base. The extended sloping roof over the windows, balcony, etc., gives extra protection to the walls as well as to the wooden structure in he rainy seasons. Set in the midst of a garden with trees and plants all around, the interiors are cool. As it was wont in the past and also in the present, this palace was designed and built based on Vastsu Sastras.

One of the best place for spending 3 to 4 hrs at Thrissur, it's located near from Thrissur town,
I did not found it very meaningful and productive
Mostly murals are copy from other palaces and so the artifcats.
I found many artifact very usual like iron, torch and knife. They are looking from modern times and not like archeological things.

It's ok ok side museum. Even if you skip it doesn't matter too much.
Google location is wrong it takes to wrong direction and back side to the museum but it's entry gate is on the main road side.

Entry ticket 25 rupees . It is a good experience which enhances our love towards Thrissur
A must visit place to all those who want to sneak into the past. Heritage garden is quite a calm and cool place, will wonder after seeing the greenery within the Thrissur town..
