Not a drinker or a taster but really enjoyed the Matakana flight tasting. It was a bit rainy and windy outside but loved the ambience and the lovely cauliflower popcorn. I have hated chardonnay but their flagship chardonnay changed my opinion. Great staff😊

Shame about poor communication/service. I am vegetarian and ordered the vegetarian gnocchi. It came covered in roe. When I mentioned it to the waitstaff the questioned me about whether it was vegetarian (um, read your menu!!). I just pushed all the roe aside and ate it. Also, why does every menu have gnocchi for vegetarians!?

Nice dessert though.
Did online appointment, and luckily, I did that. The place was busy on a Saturday. Service was not as quick but acceptable due to the crowd. Live music lifted the atmosphere. Spent about an hour and half - matakana flight and degustation platter. Very good experience and will definitely return to try the other offerings.

Plume Restaurant and Vineyard hosted our wedding ceremony and reception earlier in May 2023. Fantastic cheese boards and three course meal, wonderful wine and a great venue - even an outdoor option when the weather doesn’t play ball! Not mention the team, especially Farida and Sebastian who were a pleasure. Would highly recommend Plume and their wedding packages!!
Even we got there just 10 minutes before they were closed but staff still greeted us with a big smile and provided a lovely service. Great wine with a beautiful view. It was such a great time there.

The wine blending workshop was an incredible experience from start to finish! Matakana Estate is a gorgeous winery set in a breathtaking part of Auckland making it a great place to visit during a weekend afternoon. The workshop is perfect for complete beginners or those with some good wine knowledge; everyone will finish the experience having learned something new.
Our wine expert Serenity couldn't have been more lovely and helpful during the blending experience, and the entire team was so nice as well. Throughout the process you are constantly tasting a variety of delicious wines, exploring your creative side and having heaps of fun.
When it's all said and done you'll leave with gems of wine know-how, plenty of laughs and your own customized, unique bottle of wine that you blended yourself!
Bonus- we ordered food while we were there and it was delicious, I would recommend arriving a bit early to enjoy some of their excellent kai (beef sliders and truffle fries were yum!). Give this experience a go, you won't regret it!

Was a lovely destination on an overcast day. Even though it wasn’t pleasant to sit outside, the ambience inside more than made up for it. The wine and paring tasting totally recommended.

Dined here on a Saturday evening. Beautiful setting outside with great views. The salmon starter was top notch but the show stopper was the fish and prawn curry.. wow.. so well balanced, a mild curry but the flavours blew me away, honestly one of the best dishes I have ever eaten.. just amazing.

I cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. The restaurant has a new chef and it shows. The food is next level and you almost forget that that you aren’t in Auckland with the high quality of the food! These views will remind you of where you are though, with the amazing landscape.

I had the Scallops with white asparagus, shitake, onion dashi, lardo as a starter. It was absolutely delicious! Absolute umami bomb!
My husband had the smoked beetroot cranky goat curd, green gooseberry, buckwheat, beetroot ferment. Great combination of flavours and beautifully presented. Again out of this world, and absolutely delicious.

For mains I had the kiwi fish catch (John Dory) chilli prawns, seeds, curried beurre Blanc. I can’t rate this dish highly enough, I’m dreaming of it now and already planning my next visit! 10/10! Please if you go, order this dish, you won’t be disappointed.

My husband had the Easterbrook farm duck breast orasfarm lionsmane, leg potato roulade, buttermilk shoyu. Well seasoned, nice and pink and the skin was rendered beautifully. 10/10

Desserts I had Annabelle sheep milk cake, milk crisp, hickory and bay leaf ice cream. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I am glad I ordered it, it was beautiful. Hubby had Coconut millefeuille, fermented grape, fig leaf, whiskey snap, absolute perfection. We had the dessert wine, which you must try, it was a great match.

If you are looking for somewhere new to try, make this the place to go. The food was outstanding and hopefully like me your new favourite destination restaurant.

Very tranquil. The server was very knowledgeable, and the wines she suggested to pair with different types of food was spot on. Great value platter.
Ended up getting a bottle of their 2014 merlot which went well with most of our platter.

Our group of 4 was looking for a wine tasting and lunch outdoors. I was disappointed when I called and found out that Plume was fully booked - but am now thankful as it meant we discovered Matakana Estate.

The woman I spoke to on the phone was friendly and helpful. When we arrived they had set a table outside and put together two umbrellas to give us shelter in case it rained. Really appreciate the effort they put into ensuring we could sit outside.

All four of us did separate tasting paddles and they had no problem with this, and expertly guided each of us through the tasting notes.

We ordered the cheese and vegetarian platters which were impressive. Multiple other tables came over to ask what we had ordered.

We were regularly checked on by the staff and they even offered to top up the platters as we went.

They even had decent non alcoholic options, including Sawmill Bare Beer, which I appreciated as the sober driver.

Seriously phenomenal service, great wines and delicious foods. Thank you very much - we’ll be back soon.
