Top General stores in Athlone, Ireland

The new design of Dealz adds a more modern feel to it. It’s a much needed improvement and it created a nicer shopping experience. Has a wide variety of cheap and useful household items, also has a selection of clothes too. Only downside to the new refurbishment is taking away the self checkout machines. Would’ve been nice if they have kept at least one self checkout as at times there is only one staff at the till. Secondly, if there’s no plans to open the back door as the entrance, should be easier to access that section rather than having to walk the length of the store and back just to get one/two items.

Fine store with plenty of stock and very pleasant staff.

This store has UNBELIEVABLE offers but I have to say my visit there that will make me return are your staff. I especially would like to mention Frances and Sharon. Their kindness and respect is so sadly lacking in other retail stores. It felt like a local shop. Thank you both so much again. See you soon again. 👍🙂👏

Used to sell cheap rubber johnnies here but not any more. Pity, only 1.50 for 12 johnnies, bit of a stretch though all the same.....

Janosik is probably the smallest Polish shop in Athlone, but very well stocked. Very good selection of herbal teas, juices, non alcoholic Radler, Central European type of bread and many other products.
Huge selection of pickled vegetables (Sauerkraut is my favourite), more different mustards than in Dunnes, Tesco, Aldi and Lidl combined, excellent iced coffee, fresh vegetables, frozen ones, this little shop has it all. Plus various sweets as well.
I don't know any Polish friend who doesn't shop there from time to time, with me probably the rare non Polish customer.
Have one thing in mind - most product have instruction in Polish only, so be sure to have Translate app on your phone which can interpret picture. Or you will be overwhelmed as I often was.

I'm really impressed with this Dealz. It's well laid out and stocks a huge range of items.

Very good range for such a small store, nice lady behind the counter but bit to much time is spending on chats, I was like 6 to 8 minutes in the queue, only one person front of me. Very dark inside of the store, I thought that the store is being closed when I got trough the door.

Very good spot. Great selection of fresh Eastern European food and other articles. Worth lovely staff and very reasonably priced.
