Got take out, it was great. They have a whole separate vegan menu. I got Drunken Noodles with Steamed Tofu. Nice cozy place for a date, great atmosphere, friendly staff. I'll definitely be back, try more and will follow up here.

I have eaten here a few times and fallen in love with this place. Definitely my favorite Thai place around! First off, the Crab Rangoon is divine with that lovely sweet chili dipping sauce and you can never go wrong with the Spring Rolls! The Pad Thai here is great and absolutely a must-try. But, my favorite dish has to be the Pineapple Fried Rice (w/shrimp and extra pineapple), it is amazing! Wash it all down with a creamy Thai Iced Tea and you’ll be in heaven too! 🤩 🙏 😊

Hot Basil is one of our favorite go to restaurants in the region. They are family owned and operated. Their food is exceptional and provides a wide flavor profile. The owners are super friendly and always go out of their way to insure their customers are happy. We couldn’t be more pleased with their operation and dedication to excellence.

Nice place and has vegetarian options,
Not very expensive and they understand the customers' needs.

I would surely like to visit this place again.

The pad Thai was unremarkably flavored. Our Thai iced tea was great. Finally, the yellow curry failed to boast something engaging and worthwhile. Watery curry base, a tenuous burst of flavor. The vegetables were tough and chewy, curry presented well, but tasted off. Would not recommend.

My food did not make it home! I enjoyed it to the fullest. I’m glad I did not listen to some of these reviews. I am satisfied! Inside was clean and cute. The girl who took my order was friendly and patient with me.

A group of 7 went for lunch yesterday and were seated inside without much of a welcome and ignored till I asked for one of women staff. She came over with a "what" and upset that she was called to take an order. The restaurant was not busy with only 2 other people and at least servers or more. She brought out couple of appetizers and when I asked that I had made a mistake in holding the "fish sauce back on the papaya salad"--she rolled her eyes. I asked if we could get one without the fish sauce. She did a silent grunt that we had to eat what we got and pay for it. I said it is not the money and we would pay for another one. Her demeanor and lack of courtesy and rudeness was shocking to us. We have lived in this area for years and never experienced anything like this. We got up and said we would leave---and she rudely asked us to pay for that one salad---and we were so furious by then. We had out of town guests...and we just left. I never post such things. But had to....very disappointing and almost ruined our afternoon.

Truly disappointed with the unprofessionalism of the staff. I went there on a weekday at 820pm and they are supposed to be open until 9pm per the sign on their door and google. They denied service saying that they were closing. There was only one another family there, eating. When they have lower footfall, they close early! How can a business operate like this, without honoring their published time! My family had to leave without being served. I am not going there ever again.

Delicious Pad Thai and spicy eggplant w/salmon. The fresh rolls were delicious.. I really like this place- food was great, the service was attentive and it's very clean.

I've been going here for years. I've always ordered online for pickup, but the restaurant seems really nice and cozy inside. They've never gotten anything wrong on a single order, and the food is always amazing. The red chicken curry..... yeah.

Best pad Thai I've had in CT. Great option if you're in the mood for Thai food. Crab Rangoons are solid too. Overall the food is great, but there's a spice/vegetable that is in a few things that I could do without (tastes like spicy licorice). The price is a bit high too, but that may just be a function of inflation...

Friday night we picked up our takeout order, we were a first time customers to the restaurant... 2 of the 3 items were extremely disappointing:
-Summer Rolls were only lettuce & a sliced shrimp... where was the sliced carrot, especially the mint leaves, noodles & sprouts that are usually in spring rolls??
Very disappointing!! Though the dipping sauce was good & spicy!!
-Green Curry with Tofu in a quart sized container: 80% boiled coconut milk, 15% tofu cubes & 5% vegetables: contained only 3 extremely thinly sliced eggplant slices the size of a nickel but thinner, 8 halves of green beans, 7 green pepper cubes 1"x1" & don't remember any onions... The green curry in coconut milk was good but not spicy at all.
For the cost of this dish at $15.95 we definitely expected for the money MUCH MORE of the vegetables!!
I am hoping that you would be willing to correct this issue??

Absolutely fantastic place. The dumplings are so delicious. The decor and atmosphere and music ✅. The prices are worth the quality, taste, and quantity of food.

Asian person here from NYC who orders Thai a LOT. So my review might be biased to what I’m used to in NY.

App: ordered summer roll and I did not care for it at all. I normally LOVE summer rolls but these are a no-go for me because the rice wrapper is sooooo sticky I couldn’t even hold it without having it stuck on my fingers. Barely got shrimp and I prefer peanut over sweet chili sauce.

Main: ordered drunken noodles with chicken and spice level 1. It’s average. Nothing special. Flavor is okay. Spice level was fine.

Dessert: ordered coconut rice with mango. It’s not bad; rice was coconut-y enough and soft and warm. Probably the best of the 3 things ordered.

I ordered takeout; make sure to ask for utensils if needed.

Edit - Food quality is very unpredictable! Last 3 experiences here have been very very bad ! Uncooked veggies in stir fry , watery Thai curry !

Don’t forget to order the Red Curry , which is by a long way the best I’ve ever had, Period !!

The appetizer platter is a great way to start your meal and prepare for the delectable entrees !!

The Stir fries are unbelievably delicious as well , so try the Thai basil one with choice of meat .

The pad kee mao was too one of the best I’ve had.

Thai Food cravings , this place has to be your answer from now on !!

The Curry Puff was flaky and crisp with a soft curry flavor wrapped into the filling.
The drunkin udon was good, a little light on spice for me, but I like food to have some heat. Overall the food was great!

Staff was very good. When I eat ethnic foods I really don’t want to hear American pop or anything but authentic music. I did not like that they kept seating people close to us when there was so much room. It was a little loud - save that for when the place is busy. When it’s not give people space. Anyway, food was presented well and looked great; however it lacked authenticity - maybe over-cooked and not the Thai flavor I get in NY. The Thai iced tea was great and the fried ice cream. We ordered fried calamari (good), chicken satay (average), pad Thai, drunken noodles and a cashew dish - these three were very bland. Also the bathroom was really bad and looked like no one details it. I understand with covid restaurants are short-staffed.

I actually think this little place is way underrated. It's a little removed from the hustle and bustle area of West Hartford, there's a very small lot in front with just a few spaces but stille aside than parking right up in downtown. The Panang curry was just so good I've been back twice for it. Usually isn't busy - they do take reservations but it hasn't even necessary either time. Thai tea was also great.

Hard to believe this place is still in business. Just got takeout from here for the first time in about 6 years. What a mistake! No flavor at all. Food tastes as if I tried to make Thai food myself this is the way it would come out. Or if McDonald's attempted to serve Thai food, this would be it.

There are microwave frozen Thai dishes with more flavor. It's a big disappointment. There are other local Thai restaurants that taste like Thai food.

This is authentic Thai place. Drunken noddles were amazing and spice level I told, they made it to perfection! I have never eaten veggie dumplings like here! Perfect and dessert was cherry on top! Amazing Amazing food and vibe!

Great food here! We shared some tofu summer rolls and Thai tea. The summer rolls were solid, and it was enough for three people to enjoy.

I ordered the pad si eow (pad see ew). The dish was hot and flavorful. Not too many veggies but it was acceptable.

I brought home leftovers, which also reheated very well.

I think this is a good restaurant! I would say a majority of what the kitchen was cooking ended up going out the door to DoorDash, UberEats, etc. But the servers were still attentive to those of us dining indoors.

Picked up lunch from here and ordered the lunch Thai Basil with chicken and brown rice. Make sure to combine it! 😍 so good! And def have to dine in at dine in at some point because the ambiance is phenomenal.

Food is rich and has unique flavors. Quantity is copious, couldn't finish it in one go. Staff is helpful and prompt. People who like asian food should definitely visit.

First off, let me tell you the service was top tier. I totally recommend. The food was amazing, if you love spicy food. Go try it, they give you any level of spice you want !! If you don’t want any it’s cool because they also got that too ! The meal that you see in the picture is Thai fried rice with chicken, 2 cucumbers, onions, scallions, and egg, again they are very good at not adding something if you don’t want it.

Everything about this place was amazing! Small very quaint quiet with nice music in the background. No bar but it's a byob. The food was amazing I had salmon with a sweet chili sauce and it tasted just as amazing as it looked! The food was plated beautifully I felt like I was at a MasterChef restaurant we had chicken curry puffs and beef satay for appetizers and everything was fabulous... They seem to do a very good business there but the majority of it was take out. I will definitely be back..hope this was helpful..plz don't forget to hit LIKE if it was

Came here based on reviews. Ordered the chicken drunken noodles for lunch. Food was ready on time. Staff was friendly. Food was ok. It lacked flavor/sauce. Overall bland in my opinion. When it comes to drunken noodles this place does not deliver. Lunch portion comes with noodles only. Unlike other place who give you soup/salad or spring roll.

Great food, just amazing and mouth watering! A little on the pricey side but worth it in my opinion. Large portions and strong drinks make up for that hefty price. Nice staff & friendly inviting atmosphere overall.

The ambiance was nice, the service was good, the food was just bland. As you can see from the pictures the presentation of the panang curry with chicken and broccoli (instead of green beans) looked amazing! I was so excited to taste this dish however it just did not deliver. The sauce was thin and watery, the peppers and chicken lacked flavor, the lemongrass was absent in flavor. The sauce should have been thicker with some saltiness, and a slight nuttiness. To me, Thai food should be an experience with multiple spices firing in your mouth, but on all fronts it failed. I did enjoy the steamed pork dumplings however so that is why I am rating this a 3.

Came here for Valentine’s Day dinner. The food was absolutely delicious. We only had vegetarian food such as the Pad Thai with Tofu and Drunken Noodles and spicy rice and they were all delicious. Also got the Thai iced tea which was not too sweet. The staff is very attentive and the restaurant is very clean including the bathrooms. They have a parking lot right in front of the restaurant with about 7 parking spots or so (not sure if there is an additional parking lot in the rear).

I'm no stranger to Thai food. It's hot, it's sweet, it's sour and complex. But Hot Basil is one of the few places that gets it right! I came here today with my mom because I wanted something that would properly clear out my sinuses. The first thing that struck me was the decor. There were plants everywhere! Due to this, the air in the restaurant was crisp and fresh, and I didn't realize how much I appreciated that until I left. The place was cozy but not cramped at all and I enjoyed the quiet buzz of conversation from the other patrons. My mum got the Thai iced tea and it was yummy and fresh. We got the chicken satay for an app and the peanut sauce that it comes with is nothing short of f&$king delicious. The lunch combo comes with soup and spring rolls. I opted for the tom yum chicken soup, which was hot, sour, and loaded with fresh veggies and tender morsels of chicken. I ordered the drunken noodles with pork, and holy hot sauce, it was packed with flavor. You could tell that the veggies were fresh and that everything is hand selected. My meal was about $15 after everything was said and done. I'm definitely coming back

I've been to this restaurant many times over the years as I completed night classes at the American School for the Deaf down the street. The food is consistently delicious. Their dumplings are SO GOOD. If you have questions, the servers are friendly and knowledgable. I would give four stars, but one thing we've noticed the last few times we've visited is that initially upon entering the restaurant, there is sometimes a strong smell of the bathroom. Otherwise, the food is delicious, the restaurant is gorgeous. Perfect place for a date, or just filling up after class. :)
