I recently had an excellent experience with the Hertz car rental location at MXP Airport. The staff there was truly outstanding, showcasing not only their pleasant demeanor but also a high level of competence that made the entire rental process a breeze. From the moment I approached the counter, I was greeted with kindness and professionalism that immediately set a positive tone for the start of my journey. Additionally, I was thoroughly impressed by the speed of service; everything was handled efficiently, allowing me to get on the road quicker than I had anticipated. We used locauto so far 3 times every time we visited Italy the lastyear.We have been very content and happy with the service especially with Talal the employee who looked after us the first and the third time but they were all very polite and helpful. Smart check in is an excellent service they provide and the cars we got were fairly new and reliable 😀. Having experience before with another Italian rental company the comparison is definetely in favour of Locauto
Don't work at terminal2. They didn't give me the car because they didn't like the my and my wife driver's license. I had to rent from another company. I definitely do not recommend use this company. PC Avis and Budget it is the same office.
I went today around 9:30pm to pick up my rental car. I was sitting on the sofa waiting for my turn, and when I saw that my name was next and one of the counters was empty I started to approach it and before I even said anything the lady in the short dixie cut black hair very rudely said to me “I didn’t call you!” And I said sorry I saw my name so I thought I was next, she continued to speak with me in a very rude manner. I told her she was being rude and it’s not my fault she’s having a bad day, I told her that I would wait until I was called and she continued to snark rude comments to me. At which point I asked her for her name as I wanted to file a complaint as she was being rude for no reason whatsoever, and I took a photo to remember what she looked like. She then said I was harassing her and said she wouldn’t serve me and tried to kick me out. I told her, I didn’t harass you, you were being rude to me for no reason, I even told her if you felt harassed I apologize but you are the one causing an issue and mistreating a client for no reason. To which she replied yelling- I do not accept your apology and started yelling at me to get out that she will not serve me. It was truly unreal what I was seeing . This person should not be working in customer service and needs to learn to control her emotions. If she’s having a bad day she should not take it out on clients. And to her employer I urge you to watch the video and hear the conversation so that you can see how she is treating customers
WARNING: Avoid Sixt at All Costs – Overcharging Scam!

I rented a car from Sixt, expecting to pay $280. Instead, I was blindsided with a charge over $1,200 more. Their reason? Allegedly exceeding the mileage limit by 400 miles, which is completely false. Adding to the scam, they imposed an astronomical fee for changing the drop-off location, following their staff’s guidance.

This isn’t a simple mistake. It’s a clear strategy to gouge customers, showing a total disregard for honesty or customer service.

Sixt, this is unacceptable. It’s time to right this wrong and prove you value customer trust over deceptive profits.
Highly recommend Maggiore in Malpensa. Reserved a car with winter tires (very difficult to get guaranteed with other car rental companies), got a perfectly prepared car for the mountains in winter. Alex, who handed me the car and gave me additionional snow chains (you never know) was super friendly and customer centric. He also did the checkout, when I brought the car back to Malpensa. Grazie Maggiore. Grazie Alex.
PS: In the airport I understood that Maggiore is in fact a brand (or company?) of AVIS.
Returning a car looks simple enough.
Generally had a pleasant experience. Except it not cheap esp with full insurance.

The hidden cost in Naples are a joke
Rented a SUV for 9 days, we werent sure if the car was going to be big enough for the suitcases, so they offered to change to a bigger car but for double the price. That would defeat the idea of renting instead of getting a driver.
We barely managed to fit the luggage, so we got lucky.

On the way back I noticed small scratches on the car, I have not hit anything. The parking lot where you pick up the car was dark and I couldnt see anything in the pictures I took.
I brought this up to the person when leaving the car and he confirmed that those scratches were already there and they have photos of them.

Mixed experience but all ended positively
Upon receiving the vehicle, the staff were very professional and friendly, recommending the vehicle most suitable for the expected road conditions. In addition, upon return, everything was very pleasant, professional and friendly. Thus, receiving and returning the car was very quick and easy.
The technical condition of the car - JEEP Compas, is very good! No shortcomings or breakdowns were noticed, except that a more thorough cleaning of the car interior could have made the trip even more enjoyable.
I recommend SIXT and will definitely choose your company on my next visit!

My experience is similar to the other 1 star reviews here. Bad attitude, no status recognition, cars not cleaned. Expect much smaller cars than the rest of Europe. Book a mid size and you will get a subcompact. Even with PC status you will have to go to counter so they can add on "special charges", additional insurance, location fees, etc. On return, they will insist you caused damage to the car for additional charges.
In Italy, they provided me with a car that had wheel arch slightly peeled off. During the drive, the wheel arch completely peeled off of the car and put me in danger while driving. I took pictures of it where it is visible that someone glued it to the car before me. A friend of mine helped me tape it to the car so that I can drive safely. After a few months, they contacted me saying that the car is damaged and that they request payment for its repair. I provided them with the evidence material. They had not replied anything until recently where they told me in the email that they are giving me the second reminder after which they reserve the right to take legal action. Again, I followed up with complaint on which they still have not replied.

Must give 5 stars. I know people have had bad experiences, and reading the reviews before renting the car made me little anxious.
However everything went very smooth, got the car in 5 mins, the lady at the desk was very polite. They did not have the car size I wanted but they gave me one higher at the same price. Return as well was quick and easy. Great car too. Very pleased

They are always efficient and access to the car and drop off is super easy. They can be a little bit aggressive, trying to sell you their insurance, but to be honest, even that was polite and if you know what you’re doing, then you can be firm especially if you have your own insurance and they will understand. It is my favorite car rental in Italy.
For the festivities they changed hours without notice so I had to shuffle my plans too, no good. For the peace of mind I bought the full cover to not fall for the usual "charged later for damages on the credit card" tricks. Car was a bit different than the one I wanted but still big enough. Service at the desk was fast and courteous though.

HORRIBLE!!! never ever, ever hire a car for here!! 3,000$ down and never got the money back. the lady at the front desk not only started a disagreement with me but also the rest of my family. unhelpful. rude. arrogant. disrespectful. when you travel to a county not a great first impression!! thank god the rest of italy is not like this lady and this car service.
everything was fine. we booked the car in advance through the site with pick up from malpensa airport. the check in took 5 minutes and we received a larger car (suv) in the same price. the car was new and clean. the staff very helpful and kind. we brought it back an hour earlier. it was easy to find the car return location with the barcode they gave us on pick up. we will use them again definitely. we didn't have any issues at all

- When we rented a car, there was not a full tank of the car, they said that it was a breakdown, when we returned the car, the full tank was refueled normally without a breakdown. Not critical

Excellent experience from the moment I arrived at the counter. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I had comprehensive cover, so I grabbed my key and drove off without needing to inspect the car. Checkout was also really quick and the guy was very polite. I returned the car with a full tank as per their policy and one day later the hold on my credit card had been released. I will definitely use Goldcar again!

I rented a car from Milan (Malpensa) from Locauto. very fast and very easy. although I paid for a vw golf 7, I received a jeep renegade. a car too big for what kind of parking you have to do in Italy. all in all, the car was great, 2023, gasoline + hybrid. value for money, very good. it's worth it.

Booked a car via booking.com. Everything went smoothly, the waiting time was around half an hour, we got the same car we had booked, which was heavily used (~80,000 km) but otherwise in good condition. The return was very quick. The deposit was unblocked within a week.

For those of you who have bought full insurance through booking or other websites: the people at the counter will try to sell you yet another insurance "so to have peace of mind" which costs around 35 per day and it's a complete waste of money as long as you've got coverage through the third party. Listen carefully to what they're saying in their heavily italian-accented English.
The tires were not in good condition they were slipped again and again. The electric option was not described by the team members so it was too difficult to charge the vehicle additionally the online insurance was cheaper than the counter.
CHECK YOUR CAR multiple times and check every inch of it !! They have provided me with a car that had a damaged tires 🛞 and even I’ve proven with pictures that has a time and a date that the tires were damaged, they still deducted money from my account ! As a tourist coming from another country I was disappointed that I’ve not been treated with fairness. I have waited for more than a month for their response just to receive “ you should’ve let us know before you drive the car” isn’t the job of the company to check the cars before giving it to their customers ???

Excellent experience renting a car with no surprises. I rented the car thought booking at a very cheap price (€80 for 5 days) and all went perfect. I paid in the office €45 for extra driver and did get only the basic insurance.
I got a free upgrade from a 2 doors Fiat 500 to a 4 door Mitsubishi. No surprises on returning the car.
The office inside the Airport terminal 1. The return was simple as is to the same pickup parking and you will get the GPS coordinates for the entrance.
The staff was always very clear, helpful and friendly.

I’m extremely disappointed with my recent experience at the Europcar branch in Milan Malpensa Airport, Terminal 1. Despite having a confirmed reservation for an Audi Q8 and being charged 598 EUR, I was provided an Audi A6, which costs significantly less. When I raised the issue, the staff was unhelpful and displayed poor customer service, further adding to my frustration. Moreover, I later found out that the Audi Q8 was available which contradicts what I was told initially. This kind of service is misleading and unacceptable. I expect a prompt remedy to this situation.

The positives: the price for the hire was really low (130€ for 8 days including good insurance).
The car smelt really nice and pick up and drop off were smooth.
The negatives: the car had scratches and bashes literally everywhere, so many that I had to film the car instead of doing singular photos, too many!
The driver seat was badly stained.
It served our purpose for the time, but had cars in better condition from other providers in the past.
Extremely negative experience, totally unprofessional front desk. The company sort of work with the Booking com but in fact have their own rules and regulations nobody aware of. Been refused from pre-ordered and prepaid car because they didn't like the valid debit MasterCard, one because there was an "electronic use only" phrase on the back, (which is totally fine and the card been previously accepted by other car hire companies no problem) and the another Visa card was not good as not issued in Italy. Paid for the train and the taxi for the whole family as the result, ruined our plans. Moreover, the representative lied to the Booking customer service and said in a bad English that I "didn't have a card at all", only "electronic card sul telephono", I could get my money back as a result, lost a penalty 80 euros after long communication with the booking.

Easy pick up and drop off, took the full insurance and got the fiat 500 convertible. Did a 9 day road trip. Would def recommend using them.

Only thing I would note is if the cars come with Bluetooth, back up camera, Apple car play. The fiat didn’t have any of those.
There is no problem with Europcar Car Service.

You will always have to deal with customer service for asking for the refund for the extra charges they take without any reason. You always need to extra careful to take pictures of everything before you start the car.

If you want to avoid this extra effort, choose a different provider.

The worst experience I ever had.
In the beginning of last September, I booked a car in the Goldcar website. In the page, it was said that I would need to show my credit card to pick up the keys. When I went to the company, a rude attendant said he couldn't use my card because my name wasn't on it. I tried to question him, he said it was company policy (which is a lie, because you can't find this information anywhere) and he told I would need to spend my vacation time cancelling the reservation, but I would get my refund in 14 days.
Since then, I opened a case with Goldcar support, and called at least 5 times. Each time I call the call center, they ask some basic information and say they will escalate my problem to the supervisors. They did it at least 3 times, promising me they would send me a feedback e-mail in few hours, but nothing...
Almost 40 day I had the problem with the company, I don't have any feedback and no refund. This company is a scam full of incompetent and rude people. PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY!
Maybe you will be appealed by the cheaper prices, but in the end you don't get a car, just headache....

ps: look how ridiculous this company is. They reply with a standard message to everybody... if they read my comment, they would know I already contacted them by phone and e-mail...

I rented a car for a month and about 12 days into my rental they called and said I needed to return the car because it was due for maintenance. And it was on me to get the car to another Maggiore location even though I was in a small town in Tuscany. Then they never contacted me again so when I made it to the airport, they said "oh yeah, the car needs maintenance" and gave me a worse car. Never again.

Be careful, friends, a company of thieves. I got stuck at the airport in Milan. I needed a car for 6 days. They took me 900 euros for a Fiat-style car. It's a car that they rent for 300 euros for the whole period. They're just thieves. I had no choice but to pay and not rent from them. Be careful.

Rented a convertible Fiat 500 for four days for a trip around Milan / Lake Como. Easy booking, excellent service, well maintained vehicle.

My only small issue was that my passport / driving licence info that I uploaded online was not on their system so had to process again at airport but not a big issue.

Would recommend and rent again with Sicily By Car… grazzie!

1. Please insert real GPS Coordinates for rental car return places for example Milan Malpensa airport.
2. Insert real information for check in and check out offices working hours separately.
3. To insert real car type/model tables for understanding what type of car you receive.
The answer; "it is what we have" not sutable for the big rental car company, especially if specific car was ordered 2 month before.
I had a very positive overall experience with this Sixt. When I arrived, the 2 series Cabrio I prepaid for was not available. For a discounted fee, I was able to rent the 8 seriess instead. Intitally, I was not pleased by this, but I ended up having a lot of fun. Davide was extremely helpful, very pleasant and professional. As others here have noted, there was undocumented damage to the vehicle. Despite having rental coverage through my CC, I took the full insurance package. After reading other reviews, you would have to be crazy to not take it. Overall, I would highly recommend this branch. The M850i was incredible to drive. It was a bit heavy in the corners compared to the 4 series. Also a bit heavy on petrol in Eco mode (9.2L/100km was my best), but certainly worth every bit for the sweet sound of that twin turbo V8 in the mountains. La dolcé vita 😚🤌🏻

Horrible experience with the car. Got completely underpowered piece of garbage car.
It started overheating in Dolomites. Stop by the mechanic who find out the oil level was very low. Looks like no one did the maintenance on the car.
The cooolant was low so I topped it up.
After driving for an hour the coolant is low again.
Now I am waiting for 30 minutes for mechanic to show up.
I will definitely avoid this rental agency in the future.

I got a downgraded car, an 8 year old, 1,0l and 3cyl motor from mitsubishi. It was like a car from rent a wreck.
It's a disgrace that this type of car is being offered to customers.
I will never return to this company.

We had a brilliant experience with this company. The check-out was quick, and the car was ready on time. We had a brand new Fiat 500 Hybrid with Android Auto, which was very handy. We had an early flight and had to drop off the car before the office was opened, so we had some concerns about the check-in process as we wouldn’t witness it. By the time we arrived in the UK, all paperwork for the car inspection was sent via email and the security deposit was released within 2 days. So thanks, Sicily by Car, for the excellent service. We’ll definitely use your service again.
The only thing you need to do is to add road signs in multiple locations so that your customers can easily find your car park.

Worst experience ever would not recommend Hertz for car hire We hired a car for a trip in Italy and requested the car so we can collect it from the terminal we arrived and no car and office was closed so we had to travel to another terminal to arrange collection.The staff at Malpensa were rude unhelpful to the point we were so stressed out with it we actually looked at getting a return flight back l. We finally got the car sorted after nearly an hour we drove to hotel and parked car up as we didn't need it until return journey We then drove back to fly out and was told if we did return the car to terminal 1 we would be charged the try and charge you for the slightest thing. I then got the invoice and we had been double charged for car hire but because you are unable to contact anyone you are practically ripped off So my advice STAY WELL CLEAR

I'd like to share a recent unfortunate encounter I had with Maggiore's branch. To start, I want to acknowledge that the car itself was in great condition. No complaints. However, despite clearly communicating my wish to decline any additional services, I still ended up being billed for extra insurance.
This was my first experience with Maggiore, and I have to admit, it will also be my last.
It worked well for me. No complaints. Had to deliver back the car before the opening and it was all good.

I was hesitant booking based on the reviews but my experience was flawless. I booked through AAA for my honeymoon. Thrifty is all under Hertz so that’s the desk we went to. Waited in line for maybe 10 minutes then got our keys within 5 minutes and we were off. Automatic car, perfectly clean and nice.

Flew from JFK and landed in Milan. Made my rental reservation through enterprise and had 0 issues at the counter. Was in and out within 2 minutes after getting to the desk I got the 2nd or 3rd option for car and don’t worry waiver. We ended up with 2000km on the car and had 0 issues at all. Refueled at the airport and parked. No extra charges were added for fuel. Excellent communication. Would definitely rent again. This was a seamless rental experience compared to people who just show up, it’s better to make a reservation and don’t forget to add your travel days to your credit card!

We checked the car on car return lot, no damages there, few dirt stains here and there.
These guys send poor quality photo on one dirt stain, saying there is damage. Despite asking from four different person to provide clear good picture from this so called damage, they couldn't.

They are running common scam to boost their profit, Don't fall for it!

Such a shame, since everything before that scam went really smoothly...
Seemed OK but guy didn't explain anything, put the keys on the counter and told us to go...so don't know if we have to bring back full tank or where to bring it back...

The staff on our return where very nice though.

The car itself was clean and was very suited to our snowboarding trip, it was modern and we were easily able to work out how it all functioned and got out GPS connected. plus the fact we got the top cover also put us at ease.
Very bad service. I arrived after 10 hours flight, got my booking already paid, give all document needed in voucher but manager told me that he refuses to take my credit card because I have Ukrainian citizenship. I even can except that Ukrainian cards is not allowed in your company, I give my Polish credit card and showed my temporary protection card. And nothing , manager refuses to give me my paid order. Now I must wait extra 2 hours and pay double price in another rent company. I can’t even imagine such thing in EU.

Great experience with this company. We rented a car for 8 days. The car was brand new and very clean. The staff is very helpful and friendly! ( Sorry I didn't ask their names to mention them on the review, both of them were super ! And the gentleman inside the desk and the gentleman at the garage!) We took full insurance locally to have piece of mind, I suggest you to do the same , because they drive like crazy..🙂) thank you very much Locauto! To whom this may concern. I mad reservation for a car from Hertz car rental got the best deal at the time. But once my plan arrived to the location for pickup despite a 1 hour delay in which they were aware of but didn't honor my reservation said I was a day to late when my reservation was set for 11 pm. Even though I prepaid a month ahead of time. The biggest problem to me is that I wasn't informed that my reservation was cancelled by Hertz with no email or phone car nor voice mail saying anything of this.............................. they also didn't approve me for another rental when ask . Customer service gets a honest-1 ..........

I am so sorry for any customer who decided to rent a car from then..

Service was ok, car was ok, BUT I paid for fullcover and it turned out that the fullcover was trough some other company and that they cant confirm it and in the case of any damage to the car I need to pay them first and then contact some company for a refund!!! Never again...

I have never had such an insulting customer experience trying to reach an English speaking person at Malpensa. 4 times in a row they just break the line instead of putting me through.
